So, in Stellaris, there is a potential event where, when trading with a Pre-FTL society, they will make cute dolls of your race.
Typically, this event is ruined if you're a Megacorp, as you ask them for a cut of the profits. However, given the new DLC, I was testing out a different origin, and as such was able to get the "Stuffed Toy" Empire Modifier.
It's definitely one of my favorite events, alongside the Worm.

Shields aren't for lasers and armor isn't for bullets and missiles
Why would you make shields? Because armor is heavy. why would a pre first contact civilization develope them? Because of micrometers and stuff.
I mean think about it if shields blocked lasers and plasma then you couldn't see through them. You probably couldn't get sensors through them.
Metal on the other hand, great heat sink great radiation shielding
