Nepotism in the Workplace
Photo by Kristina Flour I would imagine Nepotism in the workplace is something everyone in the workforce has seen first-hand. Some have heard of it happening. You may have even been a victim of it. That time you have been overlooked for that position due to the boss’s friend or relative getting the job. The subject is very emotive, especially when you ask people whether it is right or…

it is getting so ridiculously hard to access doctor’s appointments. the booking line for my doc’s office opens at 8:30am so i call at exactly 8:30 only for my call to be rejected because they are already taking a call. they don’t even put me into a queue, the phone just forcibly cancels the call. the system at my local doctors is for patients to call over and over at the designated time slot until a staff member becomes available to pick up the phone. they don’t have a better system than that. for me this took about 25 redials over 15 minutes (not all my call attempts even fit in my screenshot). THEN i am finally placed on hold in a queue. they can’t tell you how many people are in the queue, they can only tell you it’s ‘more than 5’. i wait in the queue for 10 minutes, and when i finally get to talk to a person she says that all appointments are booked, and i cannot book an appointment for a future date. the only way to get an appointment is to call back the next time the line opens up again. so i will be doing this again soon

Sooooo sometimes when we have no regular classes scheduled we get "office days", which are basically days when we're on call for cover. Most of us use these days to prepare materials for classes but usually we have to stretch it out fill our time and end up spending 1-3 hours twiddling our thumbs with nothing to do.
But we've now received a company-wide email saying office days are not for preparing classes and we should be doing something that "benefits the company or customers". Whatever the fuck that means. I have legit no idea what I'm supposed to be doing if I'm not prepping lessons; I thought that's what office days were for.
My supervisor said he considers us prepping for lessons/making materials "beneficial to the company and customers" because it allows us to deliver better lessons. But I asked him "does studying Japanese count because it means I'll have better interactions with students and parents" and he said yes. So in future I'll no longer have to pretend to be busy for like 3 hours; I can just openly get out my Japanese books and study! :D

Why is Hell so short-staffed in Season 2? There were ten million angels in Heaven and ten million demons in Hell ready to go to war at the end of Season 1. Why was Furfur only able to drum up 70 demons for Shax? Where did they all go?

At job training they put real effort into getting us to understand the ride is called “top thrill 2” and NOT “top thrill dragster” anymore. Like they compared it to mentioning politics and religion in the “things ur boss will shit their pants about if u bring it up to a customer” Like damn cedar point is freaked about that lawsuit effecting their shitass reputation huh

I hate when stores have items locked up. I know people around here are thieves, but maybe it wouldn’t be so easy to steal if you weren’t operating your store on a skeleton crew and there was always somebody up front. Maybe you should simply invest in guards if theft is such a concern for you, instead of making me run around and look for the single person scheduled, so they can look for a key to unlock a case so I can buy fucking eye drops. Not even anything expensive. I hate CVS so much it’s unreal. I have half a mind to just shatter one of these cases next time I see them.

it’s so frustrating to talk about anything serious online like, it’s so hard to find people who actually understand the nuance or multifaceted causes of an issue. most people seem to see everything as very black and white and arrive at these discussions with an incredibly narrow worldview and no awareness of it. then trying to explain the nuance is seen as taking the opposite side or playing devils advocate when I’m like no!! I fucking agree with you! we have the same opinion! I just want to critically analyze the cultural and material conditions that have led us to this point to better understand the crux of the issue and how to resolve it!!!!

[Michael John Bettaney] lived alone, with a large plastic figurine of the Madonna, a number of Russian icons, a drawer of Nazi war medals and an extensive collection of pornography. Withdrawn and isolated, he repeatedly tried to persuade the female staff at MI5 to sleep with him, without success. He was occasionally overheard at parties drunkenly shouting: 'I'm working for the wrong side' and 'Come and see me in my dacha when I retire'. Six months before the first delivery to Guk, Bettaney had been found sitting on a pavement in London's West End, too inebriated to stand. When taken into custody for being drunk in a public place, he shouted at police: 'You can't arrest me, I'm a spy.' He was fined £10. MI5 did not accept his offer of resignation. This was an error.

So today I asked my manager if he cared if I clocked out (my shift was over but the restaurant was a bit understaffed, but not crowded) and he looked at me and goes
“Is your shift over? I don’t know what’s going on anymore. Someone could burn the restaurant down and I wouldn’t care.”
And it gave me massive Legend vibes (especially from your healthcare au lol)
LOL my goodness your poor manager 🤣 someone get him two weeks of paid vacation please, he is burnt out. That does give off serious Legend vibes LOL. Nurse Legend is Over It.
I remember one time on duty our crew leader smelled smoke and called the fire department, and then he and his partner evacuated while my partner and I just stayed in the building and were like “huh. We should probably get out of there actually is a fire. Meh. I’m ok burning with the building.” 😂 It was 2020, what can I say lol
