This prompted his curiosity about the history of Catherine Clements and her granddaughter Selina Diana Catherine Milner (1804 -1834). Jim retired as a Consultant working in…

HP NEW GEN Parental Masterlist
Sooooo, I’m beginning to realize seeing the same style headcanons constantly might get a bit boring for some after a while, so I’ve decided to branch out and provide you with something new and exciting (although I will still be posting those headcanons).
When reading the headcanons about my OCs, some of you may wonder who these kid’s parents are. While I give context in the posts themselves, I thought it would be a fun idea to create a masterlist of who’s the child of who, just so I can say this blog has some variety to it.
This list will only include the parents of my OCs, as everyone already knows who the canon character’s parents are anyway. Also, the pairings on this list are - for the most part - very random. In addition, I’ve made the executive decision to cross this universe over with that of Roald Dahl’s “Matilda” because there’s no way she would not have gone to Hogwarts with the Potter-Gen crew. All this to say, this list might get a little crazy. You have been warned.
One more thing, and this one’s pretty straightforward: This post is going to be rather long, as I’m still trying to find a happy medium between short little headcanons and thirty page essays content wise. I apologize in advance.
Thus, without further adieu:

Today in Christian History
Tumblr media
Today is Tuesday, May 28th, the 148th day of 2019. There are 217 days left in the year.
Today’s Highlight in History:
1008: Death at Novara of Saint Bernard of Menthon (Bernard of Savoy) who evangelized in the Alps. He was famed for founding monasteries in the mountains to succor travelers—monasteries that sent out monks with large dogs to seek people lost in winter snows.
1403: German university masters attack John Wycliffe’s doctrines which had spread to their nation by way of Jan Hus and others.
1663: Joseph Alleine, Puritan author of An Alarm to the Unconverted, is thrown into Lichester prison because he does not comply with England’s Act of Uniformity.
1685: James Renwick and about 200 men meet in Sanquhar, Scotland, where they will draft the Second Sanquhar Declaration which claims that King James II of England (VII of Scotland) is a murderer and an idolater and that acts of Parliament and Scottish church law make him ineligible to hold the kingship because he is a Catholic.
1792: Roman Catholic bishop John Carroll of Baltimore issues a pastoral letter, the first document of its sort in the United States. Among its main themes is a call for Christian education.
1843: Death at Newhaven, Connecticut, of Noah Webster, author of an American speller and other works, including a dictionary, that distinguished American English from British. He had been a conservative in politics and religion.
1899: Commencement of the first Latin American Plenary Council, held in Rome, to discuss numerous issues faced by the Catholic churches of Latin America.
1909: Samuel Clement Perry joins the Church of God, Cleveland, where he will do notable work before his exclusion.
1924: Death at Bangassou, Africa, of Baptist missionary William Haas from a fever. He and his wife had done much to create Baptist Mid-Missions, recruit personnel, and establish the station at Bangassou.
1937: Death in Aberdeen, Scotland, of Alfred Adler, a Jewish convert to Christianity who had gained fame as a neurologist and psychiatrist. He considered man’s “will to power” a primary motivator in human behavior and also addressed the role of inferiority feelings.
1938: John and Isobel Kuhn with Charles Paterson open their first rainy season Bible school, geared to teach the gospel during a season when fewer pursuits are open to the Lisu people of Thailand.
1940: Death in Sydney, Australia, of missionary leader, Florence Selina Harriett Young.
1941: Father Maximillian Kolbe is transferred to the concentration camp at Auschwitz  where he will be executed, offering himself in place of a man who has a family.
1949: A communist party congress in Czechoslavkia declares its right to educate children in atheistic Leninism without regard for their parents’ religious values.
1987: Wu Weizun, a staunch Christian, who has suffered severely for his faith in Chinese prisons and camps, is formally released from prison. Because of his persistence in faith and refusal to pretend he has accepted the communist line, the authorities decide to take care of him, giving him a hut, official registration, and a monthly allowance.
2011: Release of US Citizen Eddie Jun Yong-Su, who had been arrested while attempting Christian work in North Korea. He had been beaten so severely he could scarcely walk without help

Maria, Duchess of Gloucester and Edinburgh (10 July 1736 – 22 August 1807)
I just found out about Maria, the Duchess of Gloucester and Edinburgh, who I found fascinating for her rise in society, which similarly parallels one of my characters, Selina Bridgerton, who is the illegitimate daughter of Anthony Bridgerton and Siena Rosso. I love history, so I was always on the lookout for historical precedent for the unique position in society Selina occupies, as well as her rise, and while I found vague parallels in other historical families, I found a pretty close match in Maria.
Maria was born as Maria Walpole, the illegitimate daughter of Sir Edward Walpole and Dorothy Clement, who never married, but lived together.
Maria's grandfather was Robert Walpole, Earl of Orford, who was considered to be the first Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Her mother Dorothy Clement was the daughter of a postmaster. Sir Edward likely never married her because of her low birth, but she lived with him, and their 4 children were all given his last name.
Maria's social standing, despite all her connections, were somewhat hindered because of her illegitimate status, but it seemed to have worked out for her, because her first husband was the Earl Waldegrave, with whom she had three children. All of them made appropriately aristocratic matches later on, one of them even being an ancestor of Diana, Princess of Wales.
Maria's second husband, after the Earl died, was actually Prince William Henry, Duke of Gloucester and Edinburgh, a brother of King George III. She had three more children with him. They were all afforded the HH title at birth courtesy of being great-grandchildren of a George II, and the two that survived infancy were later afforded the HRH titles.

Paule Marshall
Tumblr media
Paule Marshall (April 9, 1929 – August 12, 2019) was an American writer, best known for her 1959 debut novel Brown Girl, Brownstones. In 1992, at the age of 63, Marshall was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship grant.
Life and career
Marshall was born Valenza Pauline Burke in Brooklyn, New York, to Adriana Viola Clement Burke and Sam Burke on April 9, 1929. Marshall's father had migrated from the Caribbean island of Barbados to New York in 1919 and, during her childhood, deserted the family to join a quasi-religious cult, leaving his wife to raise their children by herself. Marshall wrote about how her career was inspired by observing her mother's relationship to language: "It served as therapy, the cheapest kind available to my mother and her friends. It restored them to a sense of themselves and reaffirmed their self-worth. Through language they were able to overcome the humiliations of the work day. Confronted by a world they could not encompass, they took refuge in language." Smitten with the poet Paul Laurence Dunbar, Marshall changed her given name from Pauline to Paule (with a silent e) when she was 12 or 13 years old.
She attended Girls' High School in Bedstuy and subsequently enrolled in Hunter College, City University of New York, with plans of becoming a social worker. She took ill during college and took a year off, during which time she decided to major in English Literature, eventually earning her Bachelor of Arts degree at Brooklyn College in 1953 and her master's degree at Hunter College in 1955. After graduating from college, Marshall wrote for Our World, the acclaimed nationally distributed magazine edited for African-American readers, which she credited with teaching her discipline in writing and eventually aiding her in writing her first novel, Brown Girl, Brownstones. In 1950 she married psychologist Kenneth Marshall; they divorced in 1963. In the 1970s she married Nourry Menard, a Haitian businessman.
Early in her career, she wrote poetry, but later returned to prose, her debut novel being published in 1959. Brown Girl, Brownstones tells the story of Selina Boyce, a girl growing up in a small black immigrant community. Selina is caught between her mother, who wants to conform to the ideals of her new home and make the American dream come true, and her father, who longs to go back to Barbados. The dominant themes in the novel – travel, migration, psychic fracture and striving for wholeness – are important structuring elements in her later works as well.
She received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1961 and in the same year published Soul Clap Hands and Sing, a collection of four novellas that won her the National Institute of Arts Award. In 1965, she was chosen by Langston Hughes to accompany him on a State Department-sponsored world tour, on which they both read their work, which was a boon to her career. She subsequently published the novels The Chosen Place, the Timeless People (1969), which the New York Times Book Review called "one of the four or five most impressive novels ever written by a black American", and Praisesong for the Widow (1983), the latter winning the Before Columbus Foundation American Book Award in 1984.
Marshall taught at Virginia Commonwealth University, the University of California, Berkeley, the Iowa Writers' Workshop, and Yale University, before holding the Helen Gould Sheppard Chair of Literature and Culture at New York University. In 1993 she received an honorary L.H.D. from Bates College. She lived in Richmond, Virginia.
She was a MacArthur Fellow and a winner of the Dos Passos Prize for Literature. She was designated as a Literary Lion by the New York Public Library in 1994.
Marshall was inducted into the Celebrity Path at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in 2001.
Her memoir, Triangular Road, was published in 2009.
In 2010, Paule Marshall won a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards. She died in Richmond, Virginia on August 12, 2019, having had dementia in her later years.
Works
Brown Girl, Brownstones (Random House, 1959; The Feminist Press, 1981)
Soul Clap Hands and Sing (four short novels; Atheneum, 1961)
The Chosen Place, the Timeless People (Harcourt, 1969)
Reena and Other Stories (The Feminist Press at CUNY, 1983)
Praisesong for the Widow (Putnam, 1983)
Merle: A Novella, and Other Stories (Virago Press, 1985)
Daughters (Atheneum, 1991)
The Fisher King: A Novel (2001)
Triangular Road: A Memoir (Basic Civitas Books, 2009)
Quote
"I realise that it is fashionable now to dismiss the traditional novel as something of an anachronism, but to me it is still a vital form. Not only does it allow for the kind of full-blown, richly detailed writing that I love… but it permits me to operate on many levels and to explore both the inner state of my characters as well as the worlds beyond them."

Everything I’m Going to Watch in March: To the Beat of The TV Drum
Tumblr media
Good news everyone, Russian Doll has met my requirement for truly great show of the year so we can all give up watching now and go home.
That's how this works, right? We can all be done now? No?
I hope so because I have too much anxiety to watch Pen15, and The Umbrella Academy was not the best television show (however it was the best music video I've ever seen). I will say though after checking out The ABC Murders, that I am VERY excited for the character work Rupert Grint will be producing once his jowls form in earnest, could be as soon as ten to fifteen years.
March is going to be a real doozy, so gather your rope and pickaxes and prepare to dig yourself out of this avalanche of television premieres:
Sunday, March 10th-
Tumblr media
American Gods (8pm on Starz)
I loved season 1 of American Gods, so much so that I lovingly recapped it (you can read them all here). However, much has changed since that first outing two years ago. OG showrunner's Bryan Fuller and Michael Green parted ways with the production, taking with them not just their weirdo creative vision, but Gillian Anderson and Kristen Chenoweth. The reins were then handed over to Jesse Alexander and, the man himself, Neil Gaiman, but the project continued to be plagued with rumors of behind-the-scenes money drama and lackluster scripts. Will this already challenging adaptation be able to survive the loss of its original visionaries? Or will something new be able to rise from the pyre of fire (d showrunners)?
Tumblr media
The Case Against Adnan Syed (9pm on HBO)
The first season of the podcast Serial was a cultural zeitgeist, and if you didn't listen to it then I guess you just aren't very cool. Sorry that you have to learn that here. This docu-miniseries essentially covers the same ground as the podcast, investigating the murder of high schooler Hae Min Lee and subsequent arrest of her boyfriend Adnan Syed. But four years have passed since the podcast, years containing all sorts of exciting new content, like appeals! Also you actually get to see what everyone looks like when they talk!! Worth it!!
Friday, March 15th -
Tumblr media
Love, Death & Robots (Netflix)
This is a sci-fi animation anthology from Tim Miller and David Fincher. Here is a link to the trailer. I guarantee you will know within the first 15 seconds if this is for you.
Tumblr media
Queer Eye (Netflix)
QUEER EYE SEASON 3!!!! The Fab Five are now in Kansas City, saving wardrobes and souls. I need this in a visceral way. My eyes  thirst for Antoni in a Strokes T.
Tumblr media
Shrill (Hulu)
The fabulous comedy lady Aidy Bryant plays the fabulous writer lady Lindy West in a six episode series based on West's memoir. If you like feminism, the fat acceptance movement, or fun in general, you will probably like this.
Wednesday, March 27th-
Tumblr media
What We Do in the Shadows (FX - what time tho FX?? 10pm)
2014's What We Do in the Shadows is one of the funniest movies maybe ever, and it is on Amazon Prime until March 2nd so you have 24 hours to watch it. Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi wrote, direct and star in it. This is very important viewing so feel free to leave and come back. Maybe by the time you have watched it FX will have assigned a premiere time (UPDATE: apparently it will be at 10pm) to their television iteration. Shows based on movies can be dicey, but Jemaine and Taika are still involved, and FX is no slouch when it comes to high concept comedies. Also idk if you know, but when you are a vampire you become veeerry sexy.
Thursday, March 28th-
Tumblr media
Abby's (9:30pm on NBC)
Yes, this is a multi-cam network comedy. Yes, it's still me, recommending this show is not a coded cry for help. The reason Abby's is here is because it's the newest show from Mike Schur's Fremulon, the production company behind The Good Place, Parks and Rec and Brooklyn 99 aka the GOOD GOOD shows. Abby's takes places at a bar where everyone knows your name, and the name of the bar is Abby's, also the bar is outside in Natalie Morale's backyard! That's right this is the first (??) outdoor multi-cam stage! Is that conceit going to add anything to this? Would it be more worthwhile to just go to Brew Haha? We'll find out!
Sunday, March 31st-
Tumblr media
Barry (10pm on HBO)
Season one of HBO's hitman comedy made it onto my 2018 best of list (the highest honor of honors tbh). The first season's finale left me a little lukewarm, but the black humor and industry gags in the rest of the run were right on the money. Also Henry Winkler is really like....the most in this.
Tumblr media
Veep (10:30pm on HBO)
Right after the Barry premiere is the final season of VEEP! Put on hold during JLD's battle with breast cancer, this series is finally back for its last season. The world of politics is very different than when this brilliant satire premiered in 2012 (lol if only we knew), and the prospect of a Selina Meyer presidency feels less like a threat and more like a welcome alternative! I truly love this show and I will miss it. If you were wondering what I’m like in my professional life, look no further than my spirit Amy.
Tumblr media
Call the Midwife (8pm on PBS)
You know already if you want to watch this or not, so consider this an ALERT.
Tumblr media
Keeping Up With the Kardashians (8pm on E!)
Likewise, this is an alert.
Okay yes this looks like a lot of television, but there are a lot of SURE FIRE winners in here! And comedies! Lots of laughs for you! World is ending, have some nice laugh time yay!
XO MD

She graduated from GAR High School Class of 1947, where she was noted as being “best dressed”. After graduation she joined her family business, Joseph John and Co., which subsequently became Society Mills, Inc., a manufacturer of ladies’ sportswear with offices in Wilkes-Barre and New York City. During this time, she was introduced to Elmo Clemente.
Terry and Elmo were married on November 5, 1949. London, UK.
EDUCATION
Privately tutored until age 13, when he began attending Eton College, from which he graduated at age 18.
EMPLOYMENT
Unemployed.
HEIGHT
6′2½.
WEIGHT
158 lbs.
BUILD
Lean and narrowly built except for his broad shoulders. Athletic, but not notably muscular. Long of limb with very thin wrists, ankles and shins. His right leg is visibly, though not severely, bowed below the knee.
COMPLEXION
Fair, unmarked and usually somewhat pasty. Tends to tan a little during the summer months as a result of time spent outdoors.
HAIR
Black with coppery highlights, most noticeable in natural light. Thick, curly, cut short but somewhat shaggy, often obscuring all or part of his forehead.

Thickly lashed, slightly narrow and a light grayish blue in color.
VERSE OVERVIEW
Valentine was born to George and Elizabeth Warleggan in February of the year 2000. He was the second of three children that Elizabeth would have, the first being his half-brother, Geoffrey Charles Poldark, born in 1993, and the third being his half-sister (Formally his full sister), Ursula, born in 2005. Though raised to believe that George was his father, Valentine developed suspicions from a young age that his biological father was in fact Ross Poldark. Tensions existed between Valentine and George from the beginning as a result of Valentine’s true parentage, of which George was aware, but Valentine only suspicioned.
Valentine began attending Eton College when he was 13. Shortly before this, he started seeking out Ross, initiating what would, over the years, grow to be a close friendship with him, which further soured relations between Valentine and George. In the summer of 2017, Valentine began a secret affair with Selina Pope, also a resident of Cornwall and London, who was then married to Clement Pope. In the winter of that same year, Clement Pope, who had been seriously ill for some time, passed away.
In January of 2018, Valentine and Clowance Poldark (His formal cousin, and biological half-sister, separated from Stephen Carrington as of the previous October) began engaging in an intimate relationship in secret. That same year, shortly before graduating from Eton, Valentine, with funds provided by George, purchased his own residence in London, and thereafter began living between it, George and Elizabeth’s own home in London, and their home in Cornwall. Soon after, Selina informed him that she was pregnant with his child. Though she was initially reluctant to keep the baby, Valentine (Who, in spite of his own reservations and misgivings, felt strongly about such things) managed to persuade her, insisting that he would support both she and the child.
Meanwhile, Valentine and Clowance’s attachment came to an abrupt halt in June of that same year, when Stephen returned, and Clowance instead chose to resume her relationship with him. Valentine had developed very strong feelings for Clowance during the course of their time together, and though he endeavored to conceal the extent of his distress, he took their separation hard.
Valentine learned the truth of his conception from Elizabeth (That he was, in fact, the product of nonconsentual sex between she and Ross) early in 2019, at which point, horrified, he severed all ties with Ross. Selina gave birth to a boy that April, whom Valentine, remorsefully, named after George. Valentine made efforts to improve his relationship with his acting father in the months following, and had some slow but ongoing success.
In May, Valentine, along with Geoffrey Charles, Jeremy Poldark and Paul Kellow (Who had witnessed Stephen’s son, Jason, mailing a letter which appeared to be addressed to his supposedly deceased mother and Stephen’s former wife, Marion), began looking into Stephen’s past, and ultimately, with the help of Philip Prideaux, determined that Marion was not deceased, and that Stephen was, in fact, still married to her. Stephen was forced to admit his deception to Clowance, and she afterwards put her relationship with him on indefinite hold, during which time she and Valentine resumed their attachment. When Clowance returned to Stephen (Now divorced) after a few months, Valentine was deeply upset. As a result of his bereavement over Clowance and other recent developments in his life, such as learning the truth of his conception, and his struggle to coparent with Selina, who had becoming increasingly uncooperative, he became severely depressed.
In November of that same year, Valentine met Agneta Treneglos, and in spite of the fact that she had a learning disability known to him which made her capability of consenting to such behaviors questionable, began engaging in a secret intimate relationship with her. In February of the following year, he and Agneta were come upon by Jeremy, whose candid disapproval of their relationship and other actions of Valentine’s spurred Valentine into making efforts to right what he perceived to be his wrongs. He promptly attempted to end his relationship with Agneta, but she, in spite of his insistence, refused to be thrown over.
Eventually, in April, after multiple rebuffs, Agneta informed her parents of her doings with Valentine. The Trenegloses were outraged, and took immediate legal action against Valentine, insisting that Agneta, as a result of her disability, was incapable of consenting to any sexual act. Valentine was tried, but in the end, Agneta was found capable of consent, and so he was acquitted. His relationship with Selina, however, was put under considerable strain during the course of the trial, during which she went so far as to threaten to attempt to take full custody of their son (From which she was ultimately dissuaded).

Today in Christian History
Tumblr media
Today is Friday, May 28th, the 148th day of 2021. There are 217 days left in the year.
Today’s Highlight in History:
1843: Death at Newhaven, Connecticut, of Noah Webster, author of an American speller and other works, including a dictionary, that distinguished American English from British. He had been a conservative in politics and religion.
1909: Samuel Clement Perry joins the Church of God, Cleveland, where he will do notable work before his exclusion.

He had been beaten so severely he can scarcely walk without help
