omg!!! i have an answer for this!!! so the iconic heart velour hoodie that jennifer wears was from the girls section, and that was specifically a megan call! she wanted little girl’s clothes as a way to speak on the way girls are raised and looked at societally, and i think that’s something megan is soooooo articulate about, i highly recommend her conversation w diablo cody for the 10 year anniversary of jb, but you can hear her talk about her costuming input here:

what i think is so interesting about pete is that those hoodies were so tight and colorful bc that’s what was being marketed TO girls at the time and emo, especially figures like pete, brought in a wave of casual cross-dressing which later became the standardized unisex fashion we associate emo aesthetics with today. he and his contemporaries really were kind of pioneers in this new mainstream alt scene the same way goths and new romantics were in the 80s in terms of standardizing an androgynous sensibility for how boys and girls looked and interacted with aesthetics. i think we tend to forget how impactful it really was because things like skinny jeans and tight hoodies became the norm for an entire decade after boys had to shop in the juniors section and steal their sister’s clothes. anyways i super love you brought this up bc it’s like these two very unique perspectives on the same type of clothing presented in two separate ways but playing into the same cultural state of mind!!!! very reminiscent of the way kurt wore dresses vs the way courtney wore dresses i’m like obsessed with it.

(I COMITTED TO SENDING TOO SOON IM SO SORRY FOR SENDING THIS IN TWO ASKS I HAVE MORE) for me it was the necks and hands. people would draw curby characters with tiny hands and thin necks, and it just wasn't....realistic at all. it sure was cartoon-y but so was EVERY OTHER CHARACTER. like either unrealistically big or unrealistically tiny. then theres TOH, with its fanbase, and everything that comes with it? idk. its like i can literally see the progression of artistry from 2009-now IN YOUR ART. its really special to me.

YEAH!! These were mistakes I made when I first started drawing plus sized people… I could find very few art that depicted chubby hands, feet, ankles and neck and it was weird. Even in realistic drawings, people would draw them a little off.

Again, I am so SO happy you see the progression in my art.

I need non autistic people to realise meltdowns are a real debilitating thing that has a serious effect on your mental and physical health NOWWWWW!!! The way its been trivialized and lessened pisses me the fuck off.
