The nearest hobby shop near me doesn’t stock any Bandai/Koto/Hasegawa plamo, but I did find these Jada 1:24 die-cast cars based on Revoltech

…but imo wouldn’t 2008/2009 models make more sense for the Macross Saga cast (as these manufacturers did for the Naruto GTRs above) or did Harmony Gold remove all references to the year when localising the series (as a way of futureproofing IG since SDFM does not reflect 2009 very well at all)?

I hate to say this because I love Kawamori stuff but Macross Plus is absolutely the "anime for people who don't watch anime" of macross. Much more cerebral, less goofy elements, etc etc. (It is a very close 3rd to SDFM (1st) and DYRL (2nd) for me but a lot of non anime people have seen Macross Plus only but then go on to say they LOVE anime and macross)

…so are you gonna be mad when I say plus is the only Macross I’ve seen besides Zero parts of the first season of robotech 😅

Finally saw Macross Delta Zettai Live. Not a dry eye in the house! It hit esp. close as I've been having creativity issues.

Macross' themes of personal freedom and better piece through breaking boubdaries being expressed through Mirage's self-discovery, Frejya's conviction, and Yami Q Ray was just beautiful. It was a surprise they went through with the second but it couldn't be any other way.

Glad for the Frontier short at the start, too. I miss ol' Sheryl but the tone of things makes me mostly okay with her being where she is.

Visually, I can't get enough of latter-day Macross' love of bright neon colors contrasted with dark backgrounds. Reina also continues to be fashion-forward

(And Bouge needs to shut the fuck up.)

Because I made Exsedol as important to me as Spock is to others, Neo-Exsedol still makes me sad to see (even if I stopped believing he was tragically mutated ages ago) . But, well, it got me to Zettai faster because I'm a sentimental completionist.

And I did squeak a bit at a couple lines that made him seem like a person rather than a talking piece of furniture.

Nobody is selling me on Macross' Watsonian and Doylist anti-tech thing, and it's weird to drive it home when Neo-Exsedol now seems to be a cyborg. Maybe he has, in the context of Zettai, always been like this, and was grandfathered in.

(I mean, that one dude bursting into a cybernetic monstrosity was cool as hell.)

And Max, you know Max is cool. Those tabloids don't know what they're talking about.

(I would eat the steak AND the pineapple salad. I have no fear.)

The Megaroad made my jaw drop: never thought I'd see the day. In an equally unexpected way Lady M. is all but confirmed an original character, maybe not even human or singular. This whole thing also stops the fussing over its disappearance being necessary for SDFM's artistic integrity.
