my friend @xonxt made me watch this cool series called reviving bionicle!! obviously i got hooked on it and had to do some art... so heres kopaka! i tried to simplify/stylize the design so i could draw him easily and so it wasn't just normal bionicle fanart, so sorry its not completely correct to how he actually looks :P

Just finished Toa Voriki, friend to all animals! I tried to make the MOC with only parts I already had, so I missed out the cool 3D printed mask. Looks close enough, though!

If there’s one thing I hope to generate in this fandom with this blog, it’s a shitload of respect for @suddenlyoranges / @revivingbionicle .  Reviving Bionicle, as a series, has generated more memes, inside jokes and references than most fan-created content. And the one area that I think it outdoes everything else in is its complete understanding of the Bionicle fandom itself. In my opinion, no work has ever managed to properly express the exact feelings everyone following Bionicle, from the start of the line, to its end, to Hero Factory and G2 and beyond went through over the course of the constraction era of Lego like Reviving Bionicle did. From the feelings of loss as Bionicle ended, to the anger over the existence of a replacement for something that we held so dear to our hearts, to the desire of people who couldn’t handle change to see Bionicle return, to coping with the fear of the end of every thing we become attached to or grow up with, every emotion anyone who grew up with Bionicle experienced has been perfectly encapsulated and dissected by this series. I think it’s safe for me to say that no person understands Bionicle the same way RB’s author does. Even more outstanding is the sheer force of will that its author has to bring this series to us. The latest addition to the series came after a year of stressful events for @suddenlyoranges, including nearly having most of the episode’s footage be lost forever before it was finally finished.  I cannot put to words the respect I have for this guy, and I think we all owe him a debt of gratitude.

Denmark/The Afraid - Recreation

EFF IT! I GOT CLOSE A FRICK-A-FRACKING ‘NOUGH FOR NOW!

So yeah, look at this! I made Denmark/The Afraid from Reviving Bionicle! Only problem is that while I have the upper torso down pat, I have no way of getting the legs down because the 5 minutes or so of viable video barely focused enough on ‘er right arm to figure it out! Much less her legs!

And even if I could get more angles I don’t even believe I have the necessary pieces free! AGGGHHH!

Welp, now that that;s out of the way, The Afraid has literally been one of my fastest gained favourite characters since I’ve seen the series, especially when considering how little video this character got! I don’t know why exactly, I guess its a mixture of the cryptic design and personality that’s been show that really made this character stick out to me and want to have.

I have a question for the Bionicle side of Tumblr

Alright, so I've been thinking about posting a story I've been working on here, now that I've somewhat figured out how the hell I format posts. It'd be a multi-part serious story -- an epic, if we go by the BZPower classification.

There's a catch, though, and it has to do with one of the characters.

(Long explanation, so it's under the cut.)

I stumbled across the memetic character Voriki last winter during a binge-read of the TvTropes Bionicle page (specifically, the Trivia page). I'd never heard of him before then, but I liked the name and thought that I could use it for the story. I used it for a Toa of Lightning character, and built him up from there.

Fast forward to a few months ago, where I joined Tumblr and the Bionicle community therein ... and I discover that RevivingBionicle also dug him up and used him. I'd never heard of the series until I joined Tumblr, for the record.

At this point I realized that my plan of quietly recycling an old meme-character wasn't going to work as planned. But I had gotten attached to the name and the character, so I went ahead and started posting the story on BZP without changing the name.

What was the first reply to the chapter I introduced my version of Voriki in?

"Isn't Voriki that meme character?" 

And that was it. I think I was more infuriated about the fact the reply was only that question, and had nothing to do with the chapter at all.

But I can't write this story if I don't think anyone will take my version of Voriki seriously. Considering that he's more ubiquitous here than on BZP or Fanfiction.net or Deviantart, I need to be more careful with him here.

So here's my question, Bionicle-Tumblr:

Would people be willing to read my story, without writing off my version of Voriki as 'just that meme character'? More importantly, would people be willing to take him seriously?
