Okay what exactly is the Redamian Chronicles? I've seen you posting about it and I'm most curious!

It is a Christian fantasy series that is super obscure, and it is delightful! I was initially introduced to it by my husband, who had been given the first book before he met me, and on learning of my love of fantasy, lent it to me. And I just fell in love with it! (It very quickly became *my* copy when he didn't accept it back. I think he had already decided he wanted to marry me and figured he would get it back eventually. 😂)

I've only ever read the first book, due to the series being out of print by the time I discovered it, and also due to some weirdness where book two was only ever published in a special edition of book one. But it is available now in ebook format! I had purchased the ebook awhile back, but hadn't been able to verify if it was just the original text or if it was the extended version with book two for a long time because I was moving. I recently came across my hard copy, though, and was able to verify that it does indeed have the second part! That was the push I needed to finally reread it, and I am *loving* it all over again! The dialog is so great.

I still haven't been able to acquire book 3... 😢 but hopefully someday! For now, I'm really enjoying rereading the first part and looking forward to the second part, which is all new territory for me! I am really hoping that my ship sails in the second part, because there's a pair that would be great together, and it just wasn't far enough into the story for it to happen where part one cuts off.

Anyway, as you may have guessed since you've been seeing my posts, it is also where my url came from. 😁 Friend Rat is just... he's Friend Rat. I love him. He's loyal. He loves debate. He's occasionally oblivious... oh, and he's a bit clumsy. I love him so so much! I just want to hug him!

Friend Rat: *swipes a shocked messengers horn and blows it until everyone pays attention to the king after they kept ignoring the king's multiple attempts to get their attention*

Me: Yep. I picked the right character to latch onto. 😆

This just confuses my ship so much. I like Nell with Narramore. I like Nell with Quad.

I felt from the beginning that she would be a good match for Quad. She's his type. Friend Rat even commented on it. More than once. Quad always liked girls who were... not noble, as bad as that sounds (I think there are a couple things playing into that, and I don't think it's a weird power dynamic thing, but has to do with feeling like the lesser son and not fitting in with high society despite being a prince), and on top of that, despite her humble upbringing, she's educated. Something that I think Quad values. And then there's the whole "Queen Nell" thing, which just *screams* foreshadowing.

But Narramore saved her. More than saved her. He sat there listening to her agonized screams for hours on end and saved her while he still considered her an enemy. Yes, she thinks he's "about as much fun as a pumpkin under frost," but at least he realizes that he's in love with her.

But then Quad has things like this. What am I to do with this?! He thinks he hates her. He does. He thinks he's in love with Iscara. But this type of thing right here is just more wood to build the Quad and Nell ship. She affects him in a way that he doesn't even understand. Honestly, I can't imagine Quad actually ending up with Iscara at this point (for reasons...), but I really think Nell and Narramore are cute together...

I really don't understand Mugby's personal vendetta against Friend Rat. 😂

I wasn't really expecting Quad to have to make that choice.

After all the interactions between Friend Rat and the Rat Mugby, there's one thing I hope to see happen by the end of this book to bring things full circle.
