Thank you to Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire for making it canon that the Ghostbusters actually did do a song and music video with Ray Parker Jr. as advertisement for their services.
I whole-heartedly believe that it was Janine's idea and she lost her mind watching Egon and Peter grumble about it while Ray and Winston have the time of their lives.

More information about this blog here
Now with the music video exploding in mainstream popularity, we're seeing more videos directly tied to movies (Footloose, Ghostbusters, Against All Odds, etc) and videos with more complex film-making techniques and even narratives (When Doves Cry, Say Say Say, Hello, Owner of a Lonely Heart, etc). It's hard not to focus on the videos, as they are incredibly memorable and so closely tied to the decade. Focusing on the music itself, this year marks the chart debut of many iconic musicians and movements, such as Prince, Madonna (her Like a Virgin VMAs performance aired this year), the continuing rise of new wave, and the beginning of glam metal reaching mainstream audiences.

Release: August 11, 1984
Lyrics:
Ghostbusters!
If there's somethin' strange
In your neighborhood
Who ya gonna call?
(Ghostbusters!)
I ain't afraid of no ghost
If it's somethin' weird
And it don't look good
Who ya gonna call?
(Ghostbusters!)
I ain't afraid of no ghost
If you're seein' things
Runnin' through your head
Who can you call?
(Ghostbusters!)
I ain't afraid of no ghost
An invisible man
Sleepin' in your bed
Oh, who ya gonna call?
(Ghostbusters!)
I ain't afraid of no ghost
Who ya gonna call?
(Ghostbusters!)
If you're all alone
Pick up the phone
And call
(Ghostbusters!)
I ain't afraid of no ghost
I hear it likes the girls
I ain't afraid of no ghost
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Who you gonna call?
(Ghostbusters!)
Mmm, if you've had a dose
Of a freaky ghost baby
You better call
(Ghostbusters!)
I ain't afraid of no ghost
Let me tell you somethin'
Bustin' makes me feel good
I ain't afraid of no ghost
Don't get caught alone, oh no
(Ghostbusters!)
When he comes through your door
Unless you just want some more
I think you better call
(Ghostbusters!)
Oh, who you gonna call? (Ghostbusters!)
Who you gonna call? (Ghostbusters!)
Ah, think you better call (Ghostbusters!)
Who you gonna call? (Ghostbusters!)
Songwriter: Ray Parker Jr.
I can't hear you
Who you gonna call? (Ghostbusters!)
Louder (Ghostbusters!)
Who you gonna call? (Ghostbusters!)
Who can you call? (Ghostbusters!)
Who you gonna call? (Ghostbusters!)

This is a nice series of interviews cut together to tell the story of making Ghostbusters. It’s from 2009, ahead of the video game release. It includes Harold Ramis, Ivan Reitman, Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts, Ray Parker Jr, and others.
I love hearing about filming in NYC. They shut down traffic and got lots of people upset lol. The movie came together from script to release in a year, which is amazing.
