"Either Lord Berkut is very upset with me or he is in a very tough battle." Those would be the only two moments that she could think about. The latter of the two being the most likely as time went on. However it seemed luck would be on her side as an Berkut entered the dinning room with Alm and Celica no less! With one look of the state they all were in, it was clear they did indeed went through a battle.

"Lord Berkut!" Rinea said as she greeted her beloved as she was extremely happy that he was alright and not angry with her. "Oh good evening Lord Alm and Lady Celica! It's so good to see you both!" She gave a proper greeting to them before looking at her beloved. "I'm happy that you invited them over but did something happen?" she asked. "We can talk about it after dinner my dear." Berkut said as he was hungry. "Oh of course! I'll get the food heated up!" She said as she got everything ready for Dinner.

~After the dinner, then it was tea time with a long story ~

Berkut had told most of the story since he had been at the battle the longest. "Thank you for telling me the story, Lord Berkut." She said to him with a smile. Berkut then excused himself to take a much needed bath and more comfortable clothes. "Oh don't worry Lord Berkut, I will attend to our guests." she said as to not make Berkut worry to much. That and Lord Alm had rooms already set up for him and Lady Celica when they needed to be at the Castle. Once he was gone, did the sadness and somber mood set in as she looked down at her tea cup.

"...So the Witch was Countess Josephine's Aunt...and Countess acted as a Bow Knight and ended up slaying her aunt...because if she didn't...the terrors would have keep being summoned and the Witch would have killed Lord Hunter...." It was a lot to take in that was for sure. "...From what Countess told me about her family...her aunt was a little bit of a rebel herself but always so sweet to those she loved..." Rinea felt sorry for Josephine. She knew Josephine's family was going to be devastated at the news as well. Rinea couldn't help but look over at Alm as she knew if there was anyone who understood Josephine's pain the most...it would be him. There were some more chatting about other happier topics before they all rested for the night. Berkut had stayed with Rinea that night because he could tell that she needed the comfort which she did appreciate. The memories of being around Jedah, the duma cult and Berkut's anger were hunting her mind once more. It made her wonder...if there was a way to ease the mind...from endless nightmares of the war...

Hmmm. Forsython Hadestown au. (Stealing a bit from my long au post but I had new ideas recently)

Forsyth, the wide-eyed, optimistic poet with big dreams to save the broken world. He’s in love with Python, the jaded, poor pessimist. Lukas is Hermes, caring about the characters but unable to engage in too much emotion while narrating. 

Originally I wanted Mila and Duma as the gods, but the romantic parallels kept tripping me up. I realized Berkut and Rinea would be the perfect parallel couple: One, with no care for being a ruler, wanting instead to dance and enjoy the flowers. The other, paranoid that she will leave him/ he’s not enough for her while leading as a harsh ruler (also their moment of falling in love again is a dance, so yeah).

Listening to the soundtrack I always pictured the fates as neutral (like a force of nature), but watching them onstage I realize they’re definitely an antagonistic force. So now maybe they’re Nuibaba/Marla/Hestia?

You could totally keep the steampunk setting, but also, the opening could take place in bright areas of Zofia, while Hadestown is down in Duma’s catacombs. It’d be cool to have Berkut and Rinea make up in the same spot they fell apart in-game… Wait for Me still involves singing past obstacles, but there’s a good deal of battling monsters on the way down. During Flowers, Python thinks back to that one flower field in the game’s opening screen.

14, 15, 25 for the Love your fandom ask

14) the ship that always makes you smile Hmm, for long-running media, probably Midna x Link from LoZ:TP, bc that's basically the oldest ship in my fleet and it still brings me lots of joy. For mid-running media, probably Kay x Franziska for AA (my first rarepair), Rinea x Faye for FE:SoV (rarepair I wasn't expecting to see others ship), and Ashe x Dedue (literally got me to go out of my comfort zone to figure out how to draw cute ship art, when I was really bad and afraid of drawing people interacting). For stuff that I've gotten into over the past year, probably Alear x Pandreo from FE:Engage, and Mineru x Purah from LoZ:TotK (also I'm kinda silly goofy happy about Jin x Xiaoyu finally getting some development in Tekken 8, but that's bc I had to suffer watching it come to fruition over like, 20 years of my life, slowest goddamned slowburn I've ever had to endure).

15) the character that always makes you smile Oh, lots and lots. Long-running media would be Shad LoZ:TP, love that guy, I get excited anytime I see him. For mid-running, Satoru Hosonaga, my beloved from DGS/tGAA, a decent number of FE characters (Kurthnaga, Rhys, Libra, Flora, Lukas, Faye, Dedue, Ashe, and Ferdinand come to mind off the top of my head), most of the FF7 cast but esp. Red XIII/Nanaki. For more recent things, Alear and literally any of the Engage characters actually, the Octo2 crew (and also the Octo1 crew, and a fair amount of NPCs from both games); I also read Dungeon Meshi recently and I gotta say one of the most casts of all time, I haven't settled on favorites yet but damn were there some good characters.

25) a piece of advice for taking care of yourself in fandom spaces Block button is your bestie, don't feel bad for blocking people for any reason whatsoever so that you can peruse the fandom tag in peace. But also, if you find other fans who are making stuff you enjoy, support them by reblogging their art or headcanons or writing or whatever, or even just liking their stuff.

Do what you want to see in your fandom if you have the energy. I like to see people excited about things they love, whether that's a character or a ship or something about the story or their OCs or their own headcanons, like, doesn't even matter if it's not my Thing, I genuinely enjoy seeing people happy and brave enough to share that happiness in the main tag, so I try to also share stuff that brings me joy when I engage with fandom stuff too. Share joy when you can.

This is not to say you should never be negative ever like, you should also give yourself space somewhere to be a petty snob about things that tick you off. You don't have to make it public, but at the very least give yourself an outlet to let the negative move through and out of you. Believe me there are so many things that tick me off so much about either fandom spaces or various media that I could rant about for hours, but I just choose Not To Share It after I've written it out bc writing it often makes me feel better--or I go and find a trusted friend who I can be like, "Hey I gotta vent about something stupid real fast, will you hear me out?"

Lots of things in life are never all positive or negative feelings, but no emotion is inherently good or bad, so it's important to let yourself feel those emotions and let them pass without bottling them up. Otherwise they stagnate or explode, and neither is fun to deal with the aftermath for. But like, it's okay to be pissy about things from time to time.

Have fun, but never feel like you have to engage with a fandom just because you used to be a part of it, or you got into a new thing. I treat fandom like a public park, I can go there when I want to enjoy myself but I can also leave anytime I want. If a bunch of mean people are hanging around the park I know there are other parks, and I can just go to those instead and cultivate my own little garden to make up for the park I won't go to anymore. I might even get to invite some friends to that garden. Honestly, most of the time I'm some weird forest hermit who only comes out sometimes to haunt the park, and I think that's just fine as well. Engage with fandom in a way that makes you comfortable.

"even if IS just said she was the villain and needed to be stopped, clear as day, people would reject it." Let's be real: the moment people started using "death of the author" to reject the Nintendo dream interview where IS confirms Supreme Leader is the villain, that's when we should've realized that people have already made up their minds and don't care anymore. It's like telling a flat-earther that the earth is not flat or trying to debunk a conspiracy theory to believers of that theory.

Tbh, I agree sometimes with disregarding the author's intent, especially in some games where the "author" wants to push "feels" and tells the olayer how they should react.

Take Berkut for instance, for a reason I still don't understand, SoV wants to paint him as a tragic figure, who ultimately redeems himself dying. You're supposed to feel bad for Berkut and sad for what happened, to the point where Alm, the Hero - who was challenged on earlier opinions - plainly states Duma is the reason why Berkut turned sour, and no one is here to tell him "uh no sorry to tell you but your cousin was a bona fide asshole".

Ditto for the devs's lunar interview about Clout's story being a "heart-warming story", like no, sorry, no matter how much you push for it, I personally don't think his story is heart warming, rather it's blood boiling.

Does it mean I use the "death of the author" like the people we're talking about?

Yeah, maybe!

But what is more gratting about those people isn't how they use DoA to make up their own canon and story (everyone can make headcanons!), but how they push their headcanon on everyone's lawns and asking for everyone else to treat it as the truth - the Aeneid is the perfect example, people really rec this fanfiction to have a "better understanding" of canon characters, or some people said it understands the characters better than the canon does. For a fanfic, sure, it's cool and all*, but to treat this as canon?

Like, there is no discussion possible between people who argue canon and others who argue using headcanons and imo that's the crux of the discourse bcs FE Fodlan is vague about 70% of its worldbuilding.

I don't like Berkut and believe he toasted Rinea because he loved being Rudolf's heir more than he loved her, but FE15 makes it uwu clear that Berkut apparently loved Rinea a lot and apparently torched her just because Duma promised him power, which makes somehow Duma the reason why Rinea was Bernie'd.

But you won't see me pop up in a discussion about FE15 or people talking about their favourite ships in that game to point out how Berkut burnt his fiancée at stake for "power" on his own volition - canon is canon - even when it blows - I'd rather rant about it and have my own HC in this space rather than piss canon-lovers/users with it.

That's going to be more problematic, in a way that this specific interview isn't subjective or open to interpretation (thus hcs, like Sylvia being FE4!Claude's relative or not), so people are going to disagree and be more vocal about it.

Some other blogs already explained it, but it seems like FE Fodlan attracted a lot of persons who aren't used to fandom, as in a place with transformative works and where making OCs and fics and having headcanons isn't "BaD" - so they try to retrofit canon in their headcanons because "fanfics" and transformative works are BaD etc etc (insert the general dislike for fanfictions from the early 2000s (?) and the regular/usual insults towards people who write fanfiction from the same era (them being fujos, etc etc)) so they're not writing fanfictions or arguing headcanons, no, they're just writing "totally meta pieces that are better than the canon".

Imo, the second you're disregarding canon to write something about a work, you're writing a fanfic (let it be a "real fic", random hcs, etc etc etc) and that's totally fine! You're not a "fujo degenerate" for not liking the canon and "rewritting" scenes, or building more stories about a character your like!

What's not "fine" is forcing everyone to adopt your headcanons and fanfictions - if the flower is red, you cannot force people to admit the flower is blue, otoh, if you write a story where the flower isn't red but blue, it's your story and you can whatever you want with it! Ditto with fanfic writers when someone argues canon against them, dude, you're reading a story where the author wrote the flower to be blue, like they gaf about the flower's canonical colour to be red - it's a fanfic!

I have the headcanon that Rinea is the way she is (mainly, a huge doormat incredibly reluctant to speak her mind) because of her parents and in every concievable way, she deserved better, both in-universe and meta-wise

Berkut is hilarious for me because he's a genuinely tragic character who was in horrible circumstances from the very beginning and got screwed by (almost) everyone around him, but he's also a complete jackass whose ego is only matched by his incompetence and I always have the time of my life mocking and laughing at him

I have a LOT of favorites but Hilda is the one most people associate me with, so she is kind of My Brand <3 I think in terms of favorites I also would count like. Rinea, Henry, Inigo, Eirika, uuuh I could go on for a while

The Lucina & Chrom cut scene where she reveals herself it hits every time oh my god. And of course Sigurd’s death T-T I really need to play genealogy for myself soon because I know it will destroy me. The drama of it all, the tragedy I can’t take it

37) What's a weird theory or headcanon you have?

Hmmmmmm trying to think what would fit best for this... I think that, like how the Awakening DLC from Fates shows Fates is an in universe story, the Sacred Stones is also an in universe story in Ylisse. I think it fits with its monsters and single use setting and similar but different lore to awakening. Yes i am coming up with this on the spot but as someone playing fe8 right now I think it actually fits and is funny so yeah why not !

Alright I've got...a wierd one but I wanna try to request it anyway. If you do poly stuff, I didn't really see anytjing against it in your rules, then; I would like to request headcanons for Berkut and Rinea adding a male S/O to thier relationship...? I just really love them both and I don't want to seperate them, AND I have two hands. Angst is welcome, considering what happens to this couple, haha. Thanks in advance! Oh yeah I should add that to my rules. Poly stuff is totally fine! Also I get it. Its so much better to just hold both of their hands when the couple is really perfect together.

- From the moment Rinea and Berkut met you, something just clicked. When it was clear that they both had feelings for you, that they had to do something about it.

-You were invited back to the palace for dancing and dinner. After dancing with the both of them, they confessed to you. 

-Berkut does everything in his power to silence those who would question how he could love both you and Rinea and punish those that bring up you are commoners even worse. As the people he loves, you two are everything to him, and he knows that when he becomes emperor the people of Rigel will understand what makes you two so wonderful.

-Rinea is the doting kind so she is always making sure you and Berkut are happy and satisfied. 

-When it comes to lounging, Berkut prefers to put his arms around the both of you so he can enjoy 

-If the three of you aren’t together or dancing, Berkut is typically out training with you or Rinea is teaching you how to tend to the flowers i nthe garden. Berkut might see himself as yours and Rinea’s protector, but he enjoys the thrill of clashing with you even in play. As for Rinea, she enjoys the quiet of the gardens and the calming nature of the scenery. She’d love to have both of her men stroll together with her, but she knows Berkut is busy as hier and even more so when the war begins. 

-Both you and Rinea try to comfort, but even the two of you together can’t convince him that things will be okay. Thoughts of the masses ripping you two from him or being used as leverage by the Deliverance to do their bidding overpower any rationality. And when Rinea confirms that neither of you care that he isn’t going to be Emperor, he feels even more lost. 

- When Berkut gives up everything for power, that includes you too.  His plead to Duma manifests into two monsters, one a witch and one a necrodragon. He doesn’t recognize either of you, but he knows that he can now make an even greater stand against Alm.

-At the very end, Berkut finally sees what Duma had taken from him and dies along side both you and Rinea with only one regret: knowing that the last words he spoke to you two were in anger.

"Lord Berkut is running very late from checking that base for Lord Alm and Lady Celica. Perhaps he had to deal with some terrors and fight them off." Rinea had even cooked Berkut's favorite foods to celebrate finally having a wedding date set! Granted it was because Berkut did not want Josephine and Hunter to beat him at getting married at the castle first, but it was better than no wedding at all!

"Or maybe he is angry with me because I have not dropped the title for him yet?!" Rinea was still struggling to get over using titles with others. She did remember Berkut saying it would be nice if she could drop the title with him since they have been together for a while now. "...Did he find out I dropped the title for Alm? But it's only in private not in public...oh no..." Rinea was becoming worried. Berkut could not be jealous about that....right? Rinea hoped that Berkut would come back sooner rather than later.

3h verse for rinea is tentatively: post-game, her parents learn of what happened to berkut and, of course, blame her for it. she’s shipped off to fodlan as a sort of exile, but truthfully, rinea is relieved to be away from her parents and former rigel. she’s got strengths in reason & riding, and a hidden talent in lances

Faye from FE for the ask game? :)

First impression: I didn't have any strong feelings for or against her, although I wasn't wildly keen on her writing for my first run, but in the "wow, the writers really messed up" kind of way and not like, "wow this character sucks" kind of way. I did like her as a unit though, she was pretty strong even though I eventually benched her bc I stopped using pegasus knights late-game (which was the class I had her in my first run).

Impression now: One of my favorite FE characters like, ever. Which started off as spite, I will admit, because she got a lot of hate from the fandom, but unlike so many other characters/games where fans criticize the writers, they just went straight for Faye as a character which was ??? bc like, what little writing she gets outside of her crush for Alm is Fine Actually, and again, she's a great unit in battle. So I decided that no actually I'm going to love this character, and then between critically reading her canon writing and coming up with my own headcanons and ideas for expanding her characterization, I ended up genuinely loving her a whole lot. Faye's great.

Favorite moment: This is hard bc again, *vaguely gestures at the game* she doesn't get a whole lot of screentime for anything, although I do appreciate that she comes to terms with her feelings towards Alm being unreciprocated, and is able to forge a friendship with Silque.

Idea for a story: Because I have this rarepair of Faye x Rinea (which was also born out of spite, I swear Echoes is actually tied for my top favorite FE game, I just also have a lot of spite in my heart I guess), I've been kicking around different ideas of how that could work in a mostly-canon but canon-divergent post-game story where Rinea is able to survive, and how Faye would help her along her healing journey while she also recovers from the war and comes to terms with her own feelings about Alm and stuff (and possibly have Faye help Sonya out with her witch recovery efforts in general), although I haven't gotten too far with any specific ideas to have a solid mental outline or anything.

A story exploring her life growing up with the other Ram kids would be pretty interesting too, although I'd probably get sucked into the research rabbit hole trying to learn about things like a complete history of farming and end up stressing about whether the fantasy farming village of Ram seemed like a legit farming community or not.

Unpopular opinion: I kind of feel like loving Faye is unpopular in and of itself, but yeah. Writing aside though, I do genuinely think Faye's a good character, like, from a visual design standpoint and also from a game mechanic standpoint, she's got a lot going for her. The writers did a poor job with her writing sure, but I think there's a lot of potential for her to be an interesting character in her own right.

Favorite relationship: Again, she doesn't get much, but I do like the friendship she has with Silque (and I don't mind the romantic ship of the two either even if it's not my first choice of ship for my own fleet), and I would have loved it if we got more insight into her relationships with the other Ram kids aside from Alm, bc I think there was a lot of missed potential there. Also, because Faye can be recruited to Celica's army instead, I would have loved if Faye had supports with at least Celica to explore what their relationship would have been like (I think they would have gotten along, even if Faye was a bit jealous of Celica at first). And well, of course my wild rarepair of Faye and Rinea.

Favorite headcanon: Hmm, I dunno if I have a favorite per se (since I mean, a lot of trying to expand Faye's characterization is just making stuff up that seems plausible), but I think since she was the only girl in a group of boys growing up that she's got sort of a rougher streak, like, she's willing and capable of throwing someone down in a fight, especially if they were picking on one of the other Ram kids (which could be reflected in her stats in the game, since she's pretty strong all things considered), and also due to Ram being a farming village she isn't really squeamish or icked out by things which some of the high born noble girls would have hated (bugs, dirt, mud, snakes, etc.). Like sure, Faye also enjoys wearing dresses and looking cute (she's very fashionable!) but she's also not really bothered by getting dirty and I'm very sure she probably picked up some critter out of Clair's tent one night with a slightly bored expression and released the poor thing outside. Hell, she'd even put some of the noble men to shame with her lack of fear of things that were normal everyday occurrences bc she grew up with a bunch of guys in a farming village (she's also definitely got some muscles as a result too). Also I think she makes all her own accessories by hand, and that she's overall very handy when it comes to sewing and crafts. I do think she's a bit of a picky eater though, not overly so, but just a bit.
