Incredibly alarming that talks of “peace” in Gaza seem to extend no further than a ceasefire. How do you think they’re gonna start off where they left off themselves? Their houses are destroyed, so many have lost mothers and fathers and brothers and children, they still have no clean water and no food. Any area Israel withdraws out of is an area it already knows has been rendered inhospitable. There was even a direct quote by some IOF soldier gleefully stating how he “wasn’t sure Palestinians could go back to their homes.” So what happens when the US “succeeds at negotiating a ceasefire”? Who will be responsible for helping the Palestinians rebuild all that they’ve lost?

i love the idea of his hand in marriage being the peace offering between your kingdom and his clan, as in he comes to live with you and rule in your castle. and he genuinely wants to do a good job; he's not coming in and tearing down the walls or defiling shrines or anything like that, because that would be the easiest way to lose good graces with his new realm.

the thing that i love the most about this is him being so barbaric, raised in a completely different way from you, taught to value different things and rule a different way—and yet he's sitting with his council (half of which are appointed men that swear loyalty to the realm regardless of who rules, and the other half being men he specifically chose and trusts) dressed in his furs and boots, scars out for all to see, and he's carefully trying to read letters and documents and negotiations, like a civil man would.

The Court of Owls is… disturbed, in one word.

They don’t know where the new talon came from (“not a talon!” Dick will sing-song eventually, “not a bird! Can you guess my name?”) but it is goddamn weird.

It laughs in the handlers’ faces, it slips from the edge of a cliff only to reappear back at their sides a minute later, head cocked the way owls do, inquisitive and predatory.

It’s goddamn weird and they don’t know where it came from. They ask the labs, but the scientists cite ignorance. They think they remember something but their minds are all foggy and weird.

Cameras only manage to capture glimpses of teeth-feathers-bones-eyes before shorting out.

The other talons refuse to get close to the strange talon for no discernible reason. (Dead things have no business existing anywhere near something so utterly alive).

And Dick has fun. He has so much fun. He found the strangers in the cave system beneath Gotham, found their little dead pets and the masks, and felt right at home in the strangeness of it all. An evil strangeness, sure. But it appealed to something inherently wild and other in him that he couldn’t help but play a little.

And it’s fun, but it has to end sooner than later. Bruce will get worried, after all. And Dick doesn’t want his family to worry.

So in the end he leaves again to go back to the manor and Alfred and Bruce, leaving the Court disturbed and almost decimated to nothingness over night.

As if to reinforce how few fucks it gives, Israel carpet bombed Rafah yesterday (on the same day there was an ICJ hearing about its ongoing genocide). Today it broke that its relentless bombardments have demolished a mosque in Rafah—not a new move for Israel, as it has already destroyed several mosques in Gaza. And this isn’t even part of the ground offensive Israel intends to embark on in Rafah, fully unstopped because anyone who has the power to stop them doesn’t give a fuck for Arab lives. We are watching the erasure of Palestine in real time, from its sacred sites to its people themselves.

Forever thinking of that one post or sth where someone went like "Sasuke is such a bad character he wanted to destroy Konoha even tho that's the opposite of what Itachi wanted" like??? Whyyyy would Sasuke do what Itachi wants?

Like yeah Sasuke loves him, but you can love someone and utterly disagree with their motives. You can love and hate someone at the same time. You can love someone and still want to destroy everything they fought for.

Sasuke might love Itachi, and Itachi might have loved him in his own twisted way, but in the end Itachi still killed hundreds of people. He still took away Sasuke's entire world. He massacred his family for wanting something more out of life other than being constantly discriminated against. Itachi still chose to psychologically torture Sasuke, forcing him to watch Itachi slaughter the Uchiha for three days straight. Itachi still manipulated Sasuke into killing him.

And Itachi did it all in the name of a village. He was a thirteen year old boy. Think about it. Itachi was a seventh or eighth grader. He was indoctrinated, made into nothing but a tool by the village. And the village took his sacrifice and gave him nothing in return. The village moved on from the Uchiha massacre like nothing ever happened.

None of the hidden villages are good. They're literally all mercenaries, killers for hire who don't care who they kill. But Konoha is extra disgusting in how duplicitous it is. How it pretends that it's the nice village. How it pretends to be good, with all that 'Will of Fire' bullshit.

The scene where the Sandaime propaganda'd to a bunch of academy students before the third round of the chunin exams comes to mind. He claimed that every single person in the village was his precious person.

I couldn't help but feel outraged at that, disbelieving that he would actually say such an obvious lie. I guess the entirety of the Uchiha were just an exception! I guess the people he lets Danzo kidnap and indoctrinate, the shinobi he sends on suicide missions, the shinobi that are traumatised by their service, the entirety of thr Hyuuga side branch, they're all just exceptions! Those don't count!

If I can feel that much disdain and disgust, I can't imagine how much Sasuke feels.

Like, I want to destroy Konoha and I'm just reading a fictional work.

Konoha is the village that twisted Sasuke's brother. That took his childhood, his innocence and his happiness. That made him kill Sasuke's entire clan. That still kept its claws in him even years after the fact. Why wouldn't Sasuke want to destroy it?

It's Feb which means it's time for the yearly black hole where I play sdv and nothing else. Tonight's plans are just. >:)

You once said that we moderns are “obsessed with creativity of a very particular sort, that is, creativity which is thoroughly creative, introducing sheer novelty”—and I definitely there is something to that. But lately some folks have been arguing that we live in a sort of decadence because we keep coming back to the same things (prequels, sequels, live-action versions, remakes) instead of doing new things—which is not 100% true because there are new things out there, but I still think there’s something to that argument. Do you see a way to “harmonize” both claims?

I’ve been thinking about this and I think that both are true because if you want to build your own brand-new castle in an empty field, and you’re looking around and there’s castles freakin everywhere, perhaps you start thinking that the easiest thing to do is buy someone else’s castle and burn it to the ground and then build yours in the same spot.
