Headcannon: the Queendom of Roses
Names and surnames in the Queendom of Roses are often based on card numbers and suits. During the time of the Queen of Hearts many card soldiers took on surnames related to their suit or rank as a form of prestige.
While this was intended to create a long-lived legacy based on one's loyalty to the throne, it turns out a lot of people had the same idea and weren't very original. Hence, variations of Spade, Diamond, Heart, and Club/Clover are common.
Other surnames, like Trappola, are more rare. Generals in the Queen of Hearts' army would earn a surname if they were victorious in a battle of note. Once the Queen had decided what to name the battle in the history books, she'd bestow it as a surname to the general of note. Participating soldiers of note may receive variations or shorter versions of the surname.
Often, surnames earned by war also become the name of popular card games, in honor of the card soldiers.
First names such as Ace, Deuce, Trey and Cater are all very common in the Queendom of Roses, like an equivalent to John, James, William, etc. As such, Riddle is actually an uncommon name.
