The Walt Disney Company Receives Record-Breaking 94 Children’s & Family Emmy Award Nominations

The Walt Disney Company today received a record-breaking 94 Children’s & Family Emmy Awards nominations across its content brands and studios: Disney Branded Television, Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney Television Studios’ 20th Television and ABC Signature, Hulu Originals, Lucasfilm Ltd., Marvel Animation, Marvel Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and Walt Disney Studios.

This year’s companywide nominations break the inaugural year’s total of 86 nominations in 2022.

Disney Branded Television received a record 74 nominations across Disney+, Disney Channel, and Disney Junior—the highest number of any group recognized.

penny proud hcs 🎤

she’s always had an amazing singing voice and she knows it too (her daddy wouldn’t let her sing for anything other than church like the toxic father he is 😒)

she’s bisexual with a male preference, her first female crush was on a girl she met at the sandbox. she never did get to pursue that crush though.

she’s dreamt of having a pet since she was little but of course oscar said no but trudy was open to it so they decided on a hamster. that thing died within 2-3 months and she never had another pet again.

i feel like she’s a leo/virgo sun and cancer moon taurus rising, idk why she just gives me vibes 🤷🏾‍♀️

she had adhd but like most black kids, she went undiagnosed and just thought it was nothing (once she meet miles, she started to think differently)

loves her family more than anything, she’s wanted to have a family of her own some day. when’s that day? no one will know…

bebe n cece are the main ones who started her interest in having a family (they’re such cuties 🥰)

she’s athletic but never really did sports until high school, she was a cheerleader and on the track team. (you will never be ready for my track captain n cheer captain penny proud au)

she of course was student body president at one time, she was in most extracurricular activities. she’s real well rounded

her birthday’s august 22, idk if she’s more a leo or virgo so i’ll just put her down w both.

in her near future, she’ll probably be an woman’s rights/human rights activist.

she would definitely love saweetie, flo milli, ice spice, latto n nicki minaj (she’d get hot pink headphones)

she has a natural knack for technology, just never really acted on it. but once oscar found out, he had to make it into a cash grab (penny and trudy immediately shut him down on that idea)

Proud Family: Louder And Prouder had an episode around Bebe and the family learning he's autistic. I really appreciate how it was educational and accepting but I was rubbed the wrong way with the tone of the episode that treated Bebe's autism like a sickness.

I understand that The Proud Family usually have the characters start out ignorant about something that they learn to overcome by the end of the episode. My dad was ableist and my mom still doesn't fully understand the depths of neurodivergence (despite probably having ADHD herself) which affected how me and my siblings grew up undiagnosed. This is a necessary episode! But like a lot of Proud Family Louder And Prouder episodes that try to tackle nuanced subjects, there is a lack of tact in my opinion. I found it triggering how the family seemed devastated by the news and the doctor in particular did not seem to relieve their stigmas. It came off as "yes your son is sadly autistic, but we'll get through this" rather than "your son could have autism but this is nothing to be afraid of".

I don't have an issue with depicting ableism in the Proud Family as long as it's for the sake of debunking it but it also felt like the show itself was unsure how to feel. They seemed to have felt bad for the family for having an autistic son and not even Bebe for having to navigate a neurotypical world. This unconscious bias is a regular issue in The Proud Family, like how it tries to push feminist messages but is littered with sexist and patriarchal jokes or how it humanizes Oscar as a conservative father but never lets him actually grow from it. It's a well meaning show that connects to black families without sugar coating its family dynamic but still struggles in overcoming its own dated ideas of feminism, queer identities, fatphobia and neurodivergence. Still, I'd rather see a show tackle these subjects even if they make mistakes than not try at all.
