A new fic has arrived!
This one took a while because I had some serious writers block. This request came a month or so ago, but I hope it was worth the wait. Not a ship fic, but mutual respect. Enjoy.
------------------------------------
Alastor and Lucifer both grumbled as they were forced to sit next to each other in the parlor. Charlie stood in front of them. Her arms were crossed and she had an annoyed expression on her face.
“Alright, this rivalry between you two has got to stop. You're freaking everyone out with your random competitions.” Lucifer sighed listening to Charlie speak.
“Don't look at me, Bambi started it.”
“And I finished it. Being a sore loser is unbecoming, your bratness.” Lucifer was about to retort when Charlie stomped her foot.
“ENOUGH!” Both men went silent, surprised by Charlie raising her voice. The girl sighed.
“I don't care who started it or who finished or whatever. I need you two to get along and that's that. So I'm going to lock you both in here until you figure out your problems with each other.” She looked between the two of them. “And just so neither of you try to use your magic to escape, I had a special seal placed on the room so all magic will be completely useless until I remove it.” Alastor stood up.
“Charlie dear, that's ridiculous. Now if you'll excuse me, I have better things to do.” He snapped his fingers to shadow away, but nothing happened. He snapped a couple more times, and still nothing. His smile almost faltered and his eye twitched.
“I'll see you both in four hours.” Charlie then quickly left the room, shutting and locking the door. Lucifer yelled after her.
“CHARLIE! COME ON, THIS IS STUPID! OPEN THE DOOR!” He pounded on the door to no avail.
“I'm sorry dad, but this is for your own good.” They could hear Charlie's footsteps quickly trot away, leaving the two completely alone together.
“Well…shit. Can't believe she actually followed through. I'd be more impressed if I wasn't so pissed.” Alastor rolled his eyes at Lucifer, then growled before sitting down in front of the fireplace. He was completely turned away from Lucifer. Lucifer noticed and rolled his eyes too.
“So that's your plan now? You're gonna sit there ignoring me until Charlie comes back?” Alastor didn't respond, choosing instead to stare intently into the fire.
“Alastor, come on, this is childish.” Again, no response from the radio demon. Lucifer sighs dramatically and walks over to Alastor, taking a seat beside him on the couch.
“Look, I don't like this anymore than you do, but we're stuck in here whether we like it or not. So let's get this over with. So why exactly do you hate me?” Alastor finally looked over at Lucifer.
“Because you're a terrible father.” Lucifer was taken aback by the bluntness of Alastor's statement.
“What? No I'm not!” Alastor laughed at this response.
“You locked yourself away for years, forcing Charlie to endure the difficult emotions of her mother's disappearance completely alone, only contacting her when you wanted her to do something for you, and even before all that made little effort to be part of her life unless she or Lilith approached you first. You were more than capable of being there, being active in her life, caring for her as she deserved, but you just didn't.” The more Alastor spoke the more furious his tone became. Lucifer just sat and listened until he was finished.
“I…I…” He turned his face away from Alastor, trying to hide the tears pricking in his eyes.
“And now you come in and act as if you're father of the year. As if all those years of neglect and alienation just never happened. As if just a few days of doing the bare minimum will make everything better.” Alastor gripped his microphone tightly as he spoke. “I have no sympathy for you or anyone who chooses to put their own problems above their child and force that child to deal with the consequences when they shouldn't have had to.” Lucifer looked back at Alastor and was surprised to see tears falling down the demon's cheeks.
“Alastor…?” He reached out a hand, but it was quickly swatted away. Alastor quickly scrubbed the tears from his face.
“That all sounds…kind of personal. Are you…do I…” He noticed how Alastor looked away from him, returning his gaze to the fire. “...I remind you of your own father, don't I?” His suspicions were confirmed in the way Alastor stiffened.
“...In some ways. I…don't really like to think about that man.”
“I see. So that's why you hate me. You think I'm faking don't you?” Alastor shrugged, still refusing to look back at Lucifer.
“It crossed my mind. Suddenly wanting to be so involved in your daughter's life you choose to move into the hotel…” Lucifer thought about Alastor's words for a long minute. He brought his knees to his chest, curling into himself.
“You're right.” Alastor looked at Lucifer again with a raised brow.
“Come again?” Lucifer sighed heavily.
“I haven't been a good father. I tried. At least, I thought I did. But you're right. I wasn't there when she needed me. But I expected her to drop everything when I needed her. I didn't listen to her support her…until I almost lost her.” Lucifer hid his face, softly crying into his knees. Alastor loosened his grip on his microphone cane.
“... It's not the only reason you know. Why I've been so…harsh towards you.” Lucifer looked up again.
“It's not? So, what's the other reason?” Alastor hesitated for a moment, then set down his cane, placing his hands on his knees.
“Truthfully…and I'll completely deny it if you dare tell anyone else…is that I'm…intimidated by you.” Lucifer sat up fully, a look of awe on his face.
“Intimated? Why?”
“Why else? You're the king of hell. You're quite literally the most powerful being in all seven rings. And…I know no matter how powerful I am, or how strong I become, you'll always be stronger. You're the only person I know I can never outmatch in terms of power, and…I suppose I wanted to find a way to feel in control over you. I don't like feeling…weak.” Lucifer was stunned. He turned fully towards Alastor, placing a hand on his arm. This time the other demon didn't shoo him away. The two sat in silence for a while until Lucifer finally spoke again.
“I'm sorry Alastor.” The radio demon looked curiously at Lucifer.
“I understand why you've been so cold to me. And honestly, I haven't been any better to you. I've been just as hostile towards you because…I was jealous. I could see how much Charlie adores you, and I felt like I really had driven her away for good. I was selfish, and I wasn't fair to you. I'm sorry.” Alastor sat silently for a minute, then turned fully to face Lucifer.
“I am…sorry as well. I have been rather selfish also. Perhaps I should not have let my personal problems guide my judgments.”
“No, I think you actually have good instincts. You pretty much read me like a kid's book. So…truce?” Lucifer moved his hand from Alastor's arm, holding it out to shake. Alastor's smile softened, becoming more genuine. He shook the other demon's hand.
“Truce.” The two shake hands, then pull away, sitting in silence again. Lucifer huffs and looks at the clock.
“Oh for fucks sake, we've only been here thirty minutes. What are we gonna do for another three and a half hours?” Alastor looked around the room, noticing some items left on the side tables.
“It would appear Charlie left us some bonding activities to try. And also an absurd amount of snacks.” Lucifer looks in the same direction and laughs.
“Of course she did.” The two stood up and went over to the tables. Lucifer grabbed a bag of candy from the snack table and Alastor picked up one of the activities.
“These seem to be question cards. One person picks a random card and the other person has to answer the question honestly. That is an aggressively Charlie game.” They shared a laugh and returned to the couch with the game and some snacks. Alastor shuffled the deck of cards and set it in front of Lucifer.
“Age before beauty, your highness.” Lucifer rolled his eyes playfully at Alastor's comment. He picked up a card and read the question.
“If you could change any one thing about yourself, what would it be and why?” Lucifer ate the candy as he waited for Alastor to answer. The deer man thought for a long minute.
“My hair. I wish it was the same as when I was alive. I miss my curls.” Lucifer was surprised by the answer.
“You had curls?”
“Yes, similar to my mother. Though mine weren't as tight as hers.” He sighed fondly thinking about how his mother would style and take care of his curly hair growing up. He then reached for a card.
“Your turn now. If you were transformed into the opposite gender, how would you feel?” Lucifer laughed at the question.
“I'd feel the same. I don't technically have a singular gender like you sinners do.”
“Truly? So…you have…” Alastor suddenly felt uncomfortable and turned away again, which made Lucifer laugh more.
“No need to be shy. We're both adults here. I have both sets of genitals, and both function completely fine. I choose to present masculine and use male pronouns because they feel comfortable. But technically speaking, I'm both male and female at the same time. And before you ask, I do have breasts, they're just small and easily hidden.” Alastor sat quietly for a minute while he processed everything Lucifer just said.
“I…see. That was…not what I expected you to say.” Lucifer shrugged at Alastor's confused tone.
“It is what it is. What about you? What would you do if you had your gender swapped?” Alastor stiffened a bit. This didn't go unnoticed by Lucifer.
“Al?”
“I suppose I would be…relieved.” Lucifer's eyes widened hearing this.
“Alastor? Do you…actually wish to be a woman?” Again Alastor was silent for a moment.
“If the opportunity was available…I believe I would wish to become a woman, yes.”
“And…would you change your name if you did?”
“I suppose I would. I've always liked the name Julietta, so perhaps I would go by that.”
“You've…thought about this before?”
“Here and there. Though I know it isn't possible. I'm a man. As you put it before, it is what it is.” Lucifer looked almost sad hearing Alastor speak so matter of factly. As if he's had this conversation before.
“But…it is possible. There are ways to change your body to become whatever you want.”
“Forgive my doubt, but not all of us are magical shape shifters like yourself.”
“I'm not talking about magic. I'm talking about medicine, surgery, even just how you dress and present yourself. If you truly want to be female, you can be. What was the word Charlie used…?” He thought for a minute while Alastor just stared at him. The radio demon thought he was being messed with. Lucifer suddenly bounced a bit.
“Transgender! That was the word. If you did ever choose to go through with it and become a woman, that would make you transgender.” Alastor looked blankly at Lucifer. The king of hell was curious what the radio demon was thinking about.
“Alastor? You okay big guy?”
“Yes…yes I'm fine. It's just…” Alastor choked back a sob, which caught Lucifer off guard. He looked to see more tears running down Alastor's face. Even when crying he kept his smile. “The things you say…I can't. Even if I wanted…want to. What would people think of me? In my own time, this is the sort of thing you were committed to an asylum for. Being born as one thing, but wishing to be another.”
“Alastor, look at me.” The deer demon felt a hand on his cheek. He turned his head to look at Lucifer, whose face was full of concern and…care.
“It's not the thirties anymore. Nobody will hurt you for just being your true self. I'm not saying you have to get a boob job and start wearing only dresses, but if that truly is what you want…I'll help you. And I know for a fact that Charlie would be supportive too. It's completely your choice to make when you feel ready, but please understand that you're safe. You don't have to be afraid and hide. Not anymore.” These words shocked Alastor. Suddenly he pulled Lucifer into a tight hug. Lucifer was taken aback for a moment, but quickly returned the embrace.
“Thank you. I…I've never been told that before. Perhaps I could…consider such a thing…one day. Though I wouldn't know where to begin.”
“Hmm…what about Angel Dust? He does that drag queen stuff right? Maybe he could help?”
“Maybe…but for right now I would rather we keep this specific revelation to ourselves. Just…until I'm ready.”
“I completely understand. I won't tell a single soul, I swear.”
“I…I believe you, Lucifer.” The two shared a warm smile and returned to the game. After a few more questions Lucifer gets curious about something.
“Hey Alastor, can you clear something up for me? What exactly is your deal?” Alastor tilted his head a bit in confusion.
“My…deal? I've made many deals, you'll need to be more specific.”
“No, not that kind of deal. I mean, what are you into? Girl, guys, sock puppets, clowns?”
“If you're trying to ask what kind of people I'm attracted to…I'm afraid I don't have a solid answer.” Now Lucifer was the one confused.
“What do you mean by that?”
“I mean that…I've never felt such attraction before. Physically or romantically, for anyone. I always assumed when I met the right person I'd know it…but that just never happened.”
“Oh…I see.”
“Don't get the wrong idea. I'm not sad about it by any means. In fact I'm perfectly content with my status. A relationship was never really a priority for me, so it's not the end of the world. I believe Rosie said there's a name for it nowadays, but I don't remember what it was.” Lucifer thought for a moment and pulled out his phone. He typed something.
“Aroace. A person that experiences little to no sexual or romantic attraction to any gender. That sound about right?” Alastor thought for a moment, then nodded.
“Indeed, that sounds exactly like me. Though I believe it used to be called sexual dysfunction.”
“Well, these days it's called Aroace and it's considered part of the queer community.”
“Queer community? I suppose that tracks. I've always been a little odd.”
“Not that type of queer. It means like…gay people. Or bi like Charlie, or even Aroace like you. Transgender is in there too. It's just the people that aren't considered “normal”, ya know.” Alastor hummed and nodded.
“I see. And are you also part of this community, your highness?”
“I guess. I think I might be bi, but I haven't really explored that. I was married for a long time.”
“Well, perhaps now that you're getting out a little more you'll find an opportunity for such exploration.”
“Yeah…maybe.” The two shared another warm smile and returned to their game once more.
Before they knew it the two were laughing, making ridiculous jokes and truly enjoying each other's company. The time flew by, and soon they heard the door being unlocked and opened. The two looked up to see Charlie enter the room.
“Hey guys! Sooooo…did it work? Are you friends now? You two don't seem to be bruised or bleeding so that's a good sign.” The two demons shared a sly smile and both nodded. Lucifer finally spoke up.
“Funny enough it actually kind of did. I mean…I wouldn't call us friends exactly…but I guess we can get along.”
“I agree. You're not as annoying as I first thought.”
“Back at you, radiohead.” The two laughed which made Charlie very happy.
“That's great you two. I'm so glad you're getting along. And that you aren't mad at me for locking you in here.” Alastor laughed louder.
“Oh no my dear, we're still very much upset with you for that.” Lucifer nodded.
“Yeah honey. Don't get me wrong, it worked okay enough, but I still don't appreciate being locked in a room against my will.” Charlie's face fell when she heard this.
“Okay, maybe this was a little extreme, but you two were driving everyone else completely nuts with your fighting. Including me.” Alastor laughed.
“I understand my dear, but still please never pull this type of stunt again.”
“I second that.” Charlie sighed and nodded.
“At least you two are agreeing now.” She turned and left the room, leaving the two demons alone again.
“Lucifer?” The shorter demon looked up at Alastor. “What we discussed today…it stays between us, right?” Lucifer smiled. He placed a hand on Alastor's arm.
“Of course. I gave you my word I wouldn't tell a soul. Not until you're ready.”
“...Thank you. Shall we go now?”
“After you.” The two shared a warm smile and exited the room. A new found respect between them.

I have a theory.
I see a lot of people saying that Emily will be the fallen angel next season, but I actually have to disagree. Hear me out. I think it makes more sense for Sera to be the one to fall.
Sera is the one that okayed the exterminations in the first place. She claims it was because the demons were uprising against heaven, but she never says when or how this supposed uprising took place. She also hid the exterminations from Emily and the vast majority of heaven because she knew there would be a lot of people against the idea. Also when Charlie pointed out that not even Sera knows what actually gets a soul into heaven she got defensive and shut Charlie down. In the song she says there's a lot that Charlie doesn't know, which I think was referring to Lilith.
I believe that Sera knows Lilith is in heaven and about her deal with Adam. I also think that Sera is keeping an even darker truth from everyone, including Adam. With all of this, plus Sir Pentious entering heaven, will likely force Sera’s web of lies and secrets to slowly unravel until she's backed into a corner and is forced to confess everything. With this confession I can see her being cast out of heaven. I also see Sera being stuck in denial, and wanting to find a way to “prove she was right” and be allowed back into heaven.
This is where I think Roo will be revealed. Taking advantage of Sera and maybe Adam in their weakened, vulnerable states to further her goals, whatever they may be. This could be interesting as part of the big conflict of season 3.
I also think it makes more sense for Emily to stay in heaven and become the new head Seraphim, so she can work with Charlie, Pentious, and everyone else to figure out just what it takes to get a soul into heaven. It also makes sense for her to stay because heaven needs as much work as hell and Emily will no doubt be willing to do it.
What do you guys think?

Freaking Susan
Various ways Susan has ruined Alastor's Life:
She calls him Albert and still has no idea that it's not his name. He has told her numerous times.
She (badly) eavesdrops on his conversations and relays what she mishears to large crowds.
"I heard him say he wants to marry that nice television boy." - Susan 2024
Susan likes to imply that Alastor is, in fact, an awful, modern young man with his radios and his walker talkers.
She cannot pronounce microphone and Alastor thinks it's a personal attack at this point. Sometimes she calls it a microwave while making direct eye contact.
Susan has never listened to any music past 1899 and believes Jazz is the devil's music (and not in the good way). Gramophones are the only acceptable at-home listening experience.
She likes to tell Rosie that Alastor is trouble. This is true, but still offensive.
When told he was a deer demon, Susan countered that Alastor wasn't nearly pretty enough for that.
Susan is the only demon who has managed to fully derail one of Alastor's broadcasts when he did a special live show in Cannibal Town.
Vox didn't let him live it down for 10 years and Rosie likes to refer back to his semi-hysterical, anti-Susan tirade as "inspired and honestly a delight to hear"

Sharing my short Twitter rant for all my fellow Rune Factory fan besties on here. Sick of people acting like Stardew is the only real farming sim out there considering how clearly it's built on the farming sims that came before it.
