In sorting out my feelings and beliefs there is, however, one piece of moral ground of which I am absolutely certain: if I were to be murdered I would not want my murderer executed. I would not want my death avenged. Especially by government--which can't be trusted to control its own bureaucrats or collect taxes equitably or fill a pothole, much less decide which of its citizens to kill.

Kim K is probably the last person I expected to see talking about Ivan Cantu, but you know what? Good for her, glad to have her on board (and that she heard about him from Sister Helen is awesome). Maybe now something can be done to stop his execution
With Heggie’s Dead Man Walking, inside of me are two wolves.
The First wolf: wow, what a chilling and heavy and nuanced piece about the extremities of redemption and empathy and spirituality regarding capital punishment that when done right presents it neutrally and showing Sister Helen Prejean as a woman of deep humanity in a difficult position and plus with the Met Opera’s production we get to see Queen Joyce Di Donato shine again.
Infosys, a prominent India-based IT firm, finds itself amid controversy as Jill Prejean, the current Vice President of Human Resources, is under consideration for a promotion. Prejean, hired by Infosys in 2018 at the age of 59, has played a pivotal role as the Vice President of Talent Acquisition.
However, the promotion consideration has sparked discontent among some employees who allege that Prejean has been involved in discriminatory hiring practices. Accusations suggest that during her tenure, she allegedly instructed her team to avoid hiring individuals of Indian origin, women with children, and individuals aged 50 and above. This controversy arose against the backdrop of a similar incident in 2013 when Infosys faced accusations of nationality-based discrimination.
Prejean vehemently denies intentional discrimination, asserting that her efforts have always focused on fostering an inclusive work environment. She insists that her initiatives aimed at addressing a pervasive culture of discriminatory animus among partner-level executives based on age, gender, and caregiver status were intended to bring positive change.
Despite her claims of being inclusive with her hiring process, anonymous tips from the current employees of the organisation have reached the media regarding the unfair hiring practices going inside the organisation. The company and the CEO have come under a lot of fire from the media as well as the public regarding this issue, the public image of the company is completely ruined and the people want to know what actions have the higher management taken, that is if they have even taken any.
The discontent among some employees’ centres on the belief that the promotion consideration for Prejean is inappropriate given the allegations against her. Concerned employees argue that promoting someone accused of discriminatory practices sends the wrong message about the company's commitment to diversity and equality.
