“Nico didn’t need to be gay!!” “Everyone is making everyone queer!”
SHUT UP!
Do you want to know my thought process, leading up to HOH?
“oh my god is he serious there’s no way he’s gonna actually make him have a crush on Annabeth yeah just we need more of that terrible trope (c’mon please be Percy) are you seriously kidding me (wait omfg it might be) wait holy shi-”
Until the actual part I thought it was going to be Annabeth. I could not believe it. And yeah, it was fucking traumatic but do you know how many times I reread that passage because I thought it would go away? Be forgotten about forever? Never talked about again? But it WASNT. And I was incredulous.
Name one gay character from Harry Potter (no, dumbledore doesn’t count. literally stfu).
Name one gay character from divergent (Lynn dying and saying she loved Marlene doesn’t count). Edit: apparently there is also one gay couple and a guy having a crush on four, I had in fact forgotten about those (I haven’t read the books in 4+ years (2 of which I didn’t know I was gay) and I have always been impartial to lesbians ig)
Name one gay character from Hunger Games (no, Plurbius’ partner (Cyprus) and Barb Azure & the gal down the street don’t count).
Now you might be thinking “ha! you can’t say they don’t count!” but I CAN (especially dumbledore).
there’s a reason I remember the exact characters and the exact times their partners were mentioned! there’s a reason those are the only ones! Plurbius’ partner Cyprus is mentioned ONCE! and no pronouns used. Lynn and Marlene may have had chemistry before (I haven’t read the books in a while) but the only time she “came out” was her DEATH? and it could be interpreted differently. The Covey, Coriolanus, and Sejanus leaving to lake and letting Barb Azure see the gal up the street. That’s it! In the most popular Y/A books we get fed TABLE SCRAPS.
In PJO, it’s different. So much different. We have Nico, Will, Piper, Alex, Magnus (technically? idk), and probably more.
PJO also wasn’t marketed as some huge inclusive book! It was just a normal book, with a normal gay character in it. With 3! With 4! With 5!
No, not everybody in books needs to be gay. But some people in real life are, and sometimes those people have a hard time accepting that and sometimes seeing themselves represented helps just a tiny bit. So stfu and let us have this because y’all have EVERYONE else.

Okay now I’m curious 👀 what’s that royal au u keep mentioning 👀
EHEHE SO
This started as a Percy, Annabeth, Al and Ethan AU so I'll get into that
Annabeth is the Crown Princess (Heir) of Athens, she has one brother and that's Malcom! Athens is a large kingdom, the queen, Athena, is the daughter of the Olympian king Zeus. He gave his daughter a portion of his own kingdom to call her own.
Alabaster is the Crown Prince of Epirus, he had two siblings, his late older brother Edward and his younger sister Lou. Eprius is a rather small kingdom, most of it's resources come from it's neighboring kingdom, Elysium, as the queen, Hecate, is friends with the king, Hades.
Annabeth and Alabaster met during a council meeting their parents attended, being around the same age and both rather antsy they were brought to a separate room when it proved they weren't going to provide much to the meeting.
Being the heirs to their respective kingdoms, they're of course expected to marry, and they opted to choose each other rather then someone they don't know.
Being royals, they're typically at risk for some sort of attack, Alabaster is the oldest now for a reason of course. Because of this, both of them have personal guards, Annabeths is Ethan, the son of the captain of the royal guard, Nemesis. Alabasters is Percy, the son of two castle workers in Eprius, Sally, a baker and Paul, a tutor. (both of which previously lived in atlantis but left because they were lovers of the king)
Before they were able to actually get married, a war broke out. Hecate and Athena took opposing sides and so the engagement was broken.
Now for the sake of me not mentally hurting myself I've changed a lot of relationships 💀 So, Zeus, Hades and Poseidon are brothers and its just the three of them. Hera, Hestia and Demeter are sisters and again, just the three of them.
Zeus and Hera are married the only child they have together is Ares. Zeus also has Apollo and Artemis, Athena, Thalia and Jason as results of affairs. They rule Olympus, with Thalia as their heir.
As I mentioned before, Athena was given a portion of Olympus to rule while Hecate rules Epirus, a kingdom hidden in the mountains.
Hades is married to Persephone, they have Zagreus and Melionë together, while also having Bianca and Nico with Maria, a partner of theirs, and Hazel with Marie, another partner of theirs. The rule Elysium with Bianca as their heir.
Poseidon is married to Amphitrite, they have Triton, Rhode and Kymopoleia together. They rule Atlantis with Triton as their heir.
Ares is married to Aphrodite, they both have children prior to their marriage; Ares has Clarisse, Sherman, Frank and Ellis while Aphrodite has Silena, Drew, Mitchell, Piper and Valentina. The two of them rule Cyprus with Clarisse and Silena as their heirs.
Apollo was married to Saige, they had Lee together, but she passed when he was a few months old. Apollo had Michael, Will, Kayla and Austin after her passing. Though, he never took another queen. He rules Delphi with Lee as his heir. Artemis resides in his kingdom as a princess, preferring that to ruling her own. She leaves the kingdom often, going on hunts and aiding girls who had been abandoned or ran away from their homes. She has her own with in the Delphic castle that houses herself and her hunters.
Hermes, much like Aphrodite, is not related to any of them, he and his wife, Peitho. He has Luke, Chris, Travis, Connor and Cecil. With Peitho, he rules Maia, a kingdom he created himself and named after his mother, with Luke as their heir.
There are a few marriage arrangements among kingdoms, being Luke and Thalia, Lee and Silena and Clarisse and Chris.
me when i have lee get stabbed in his bedroom at nine, get kidnapped from his bedroom at thirteen and poisoned during his wedding at eighteen

HoO things I have headcanoned/au'ed for my canon divergent version of the story (most take Percy and Annabeth out of the story lol):
Leo and Piper meeting before the Wilderness School. They became begrudging allies to friends while hanging out in the streets, causing mild vandalism, and shoplifting chocolate. turns out a born-to-be-public speaker with a healthy hatred for authority and a hyperactive homeless kid with an arsenal of scrap metal make an incredible duo against police
They were both worried about going M.I.A since they had no proper way to call eachother before being spontaneously thrown into the Wilderness School. then they got excited that they ended up together! Man, what luck is that :D (it was Hera lmao)
Piper met Aphrodite on Cyprus and finally had a chat one-to-one about everything and her place amongst the team
although Lupa raised Jason like a pup, she wouldn't let him forget just how human he still was. She'd always tell him to straighten up, or to use his hands rather than just teeth. She'd teach him to skin animals by himself with sharp stones. Still, she warned him not to be too human, too mortal. "human weaknesses" such as crying would not be tolerated.
Jason then had to relearn how to be human by trying to copy the members of Camp and interpreted them how Lupa taught him. The demigods didn't help him as much as they would've due to his parentage, so he was always awkwardly trying to fit in and adapt. He spent ages trying to associate names to facial expressions and it made him upset realising he didn't recognise that many anymore
Hazel and Gaia almost always fought for control over the earth. Hazel eventually pried the land out of Gaia's control just long enough for the others to escape a collapsing cavern & teams up with Piper's charmspeak with her power over the Mist
HAZEL CONTROLS OPALISED FOSSILS. I think she should have gotten the chance to summon opalised skeletons, especially since they were by the sea a lot of the time
Frank was always clumsy because his body was always twitching to shapeshift. Once he unlocked his shapeshifting, he'd instinctively transform to continue his stride. when not paying attention or too tired, he'd still stumble and trip
Frank and Hazel took over when Percy and Annabeth (without them it'd probably be Leo) fell into Tartarus. Jason advised them, but was glad at not needing to lead
All of them (again, without percabeth) learnt at least one way of supporting the ship when Leo wasn't available or too exhausted! Jason would send winds into the sails and navigate at air, Piper learnt a few of the controls and which ones opened up to secret storage and etc, Hazel was in charge of retrieving metal and noticing damages to the structure of machines, and Frank was the main strategist that ended up being really good with the ballistae. They still couldn't match up to Leo, but they managed to get the ship stumbling to its destination
Jason doesn't give Frank Praetorship until the final fight against Gaia, where the Romans have a chance to agree or disagree and all that, but he takes the position of team leader after Jason steps down (Hazel is his second in command + co-leader)
more time between books, arching within 2 years at least
also a possibly hot take: the sacrifices should've been Jason and either Piper or Hazel cause they have more thematic weight to them other than "they're the oldest and most annoying" or whatever the original reason was

Netherlands named as Europe’s meanest GDPR henchman – Telecoms.com
Tumblr media
The Netherlands has seen the most GDPR breach notifications reported to the regulator, but the spread of activity, or inactivity in some nations, is quite remarkable. In the eight months since GDPR was officially written into European regulations, law firm DLA Piper has said regulators have been alerted to breaches more than 59,000 times. The Netherlands, Germany and the UK have seen the biggest numbers of notifications, with 15,400, 12,600 and 10,600 respectively, though the new privacy status quo has not been embraced with such enthusiasm everywhere. “GDPR has driven the issue of data breach well and truly into the open,” said Ross McKean, a partner at DLA Piper, “The rate of breach notification has increased by over 12% compared to last year’s report and regulators have been busy road-testing their new powers to sanction and fine organisations.” The scale and depth of these breaches vary considerably, a mis-sent email there and a cybersecurity hack here, but the number does represent a significant shift in the tides; data breaches are now being taken seriously, or at least in some nations. As you can see from the table below, we have selected the ten largest economies across the bloc, the variance is quite interesting. There might be a few reasons for increased number of notifications in certain countries, allowing for the presence of different industries. For example, Ireland has the 4th largest number of notifications to the data watchdog (c.3,800) but the 20th smallest population (out of 28). This is also a country where the economy and society is dominated by the presence of the technology sector. This will explain some of the variance on figures, but not completely. Take Italy for example. This is the 4th largest economy across the bloc, but in the eight months since May 25 when GDPR was introduced, the regulator was only notified of 610 data breaches. There are two explanations for such a low figure: We have made the Italians the centre of this point, but there are quite a few who would fall into this category of (a) squeaky clean or (b) don’t care about GDPR. Spain has 670 breach notifications to the regulator, Belgium 420, Greece 70, Cyprus 35 and Liechtenstein 15. Although GDPR has certainly made promising sets forward in forcing a more privacy orientated society and economy, the issues will continue to persist unless the same stringent attitudes are adopted across the board. Such is the fluidity and borderless nature of the digital economy, a weak link in the chain can cause disruption. All economies are interlinked, make no doubt about that. Interestingly enough, momentum will gather as the digital economy becomes more complex. Security and data protection are still not high enough priorities on the corporate agenda, although trends are heading the right direction. Breaches will still continue to occur, and fines will start to get very large. GDPR violations carry a maximum penalty of €20 million or 3% of annual revenues. These numbers can be reduced if the breach is reportedly in a timely manner and the company is helpful. However, fines to date have not been to this magnitude largely because the incidents occurred prior to the introduction of GDPR. Any breach which occurred after May 25 will be met with a much sharper stick than previously. For example, Equifax is a company which collects and aggregates information on over 800 million individual consumers and more than 88 million businesses worldwide. Hundreds of millions of customers and consumers were impacted by the Equifax data breach of 2017, though the maximum fine which could be imposed by the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) was £500,000. Under GDPR, Equifax would have been fined £20 million. GDPR took Europe into the 21st century when it comes to data protection and privacy. It forced companies and regulators to take a more stringent approach to the security of personal and corporate information. Despite the pain everyone had to endure to be GDPR-compliant, it should only be viewed as a good thing. Data breaches are almost certainly going to continue, but one thing you can guarantee is the numbers are going to be getting a lot bigger.

4-year-old drowns in swimming pool while mother was on phone
Tumblr media
A four-year-old British girl, holidaying with her family in Cyprus, drowned in a swimming pool while her mother was attending a phone call. Mya Piper and her younger brother, Jonah, were walking around an inadequate safety fence near the deeper main swimming pool. Their mother, Lisa, got a phone call and she walked away for a few minutes, only to return and find Mya missing. The mother said she could only see her son around the pool and began frantically searching for Mya. That's when a man on a first floor balcony at the hotel yelled: 'There is a baby drowning in the pool'. Although a Russian tourist who was beside the pool on a sunbed, leapt and dived into the water to save the girl but she was pronounced dead in hospital. In a statement to Cypriot police, Lisa from Darlington, said, "My son was just playing just beside me and Mya had armbands. I had a phone call from back home. The phone call was about five minutes and I moved myself a short distance." According to reports in Daily Mail, the mother got a call from a witness care officer regarding a domestic incident in which her partner, the children's father Dale Ferris, had been arrested and charged. Ferris was not traveling with the family on holiday. Lisa added, "I could say I was distracted by it and I couldn't see, I couldn't see who was near the kids. Coroner's officer, Dawn Carter, who examined CCTV footage from the poolside and said, "A long fence divides the children's pool from the larger swimming pool but the fence can be accessed from either side so you can just walk around it. I could see the area filled with sunbeds but could see no lifeguards and no way of keeping children out of the bigger pool." The coroner's officer added, "I saw two figures, two children get out and get into the bigger pool, walking around the fence. Mya's brother Jonah got out of the main pool safely but unseen, Mya slipped to the bottom." The inquest heard there were no trained lifeguards on duty at the time and owner of the hotel in Cyprus received a suspended prison sentence for breaching safety rules and a significant fine. The coroner concluded the girl's death was accidental. Read the full article

Q: How old are you?:
A: 21
Q: Are you male or female?
A: Male
Q: Where are you from?
A: Birmingham, UK
Q: Do you have pets?
A: Yes! My cat is named Jensen (after the sports car company!)
Q: Which sports do you like?
A: Classic Car racing gets my heart buzzing!
Q: Do you have tattoos?
A: No
Q: What kind of music do you listen to?
A: 1960's to 1990's. The Beatles are a favourite.
Q: Do you travel a lot?
A: I try to get around as much as I can. Flying and driving!
Q: Do you have a favorite City?
A: New York. Travelled there this year and missing it already!
Q: Do you have favorite movies?
A: The Italian Job (1969) and Sully.
Q: Do you work? If so, as what?
A: I work as a classic car parts sales advisor.
Now onto the questions about cars!
Q: What car(s) do you own?
A: I own a 2006 Toyota Corolla and a 1971 MGB GT (pictured!)
Q: What is your dream car?
A: Now that I own the MG, it's the Jaguar E-Type Series 1
Q: Where is your passion from?
A: My Dad works for a company manufacturing knock off hubs and spinners for classic cars. I've grown up around classic cars, attending as many shows and Autojumbles as I can. So growing up around classic cars and seeing the amazing manufacturing that goes on to keep them on the road is where my passion came from. The MGB has always been my favourite and dream car, so when I finally bought one it was a dream come true. Fellow petrol heads will agree when I say a car is more than just a car.
I'm committee for the MG Car Club Young Members Branch. We are an official branch of the MG Car Club are are open to any young owner of an MG. It can be classic or modern, we don't mind! It's up to us younger generation to keep the classic car industry going, or it will unfortunately be a dying trade.
Lets head to the plane themed Q&A....
Q: Where is your passion from?
A: My Auntie was cabin crew for British Airways some years ago and managed to allow us access onto G-BOAC, the British Airways Concorde at Manchester Airport. My parents took me to RAF Cosford Airshow and spotting at my local airport, Birmingham Airport, a lot. I then joined up to the RAF's Air Training Corps where I worked my way up to the rank of Flight Sergeant. I flew two types of aircraft with them, the Grob G109B and Grob G115E. Overall I spent 9 years in the Air Training Corps, and sometimes occasionally help out as an aviation instructor.
Q: Do you have a favorite plane and Airline?
A: It's such a hard decision between the Boeing 747-400 and Lockheed L-1011 TriStar for me! My favourite airline used to be Monarch, but now they've sadly ceased trading it has to be British Airways.
If you're interested, this is my Flightdiary account: https://my.flightradar24.com/keiranreid98
Q: Talk about your travel memories.
A: When I was very young, we took a few trips to the Spanish Island Tenerife. I have memories of the two hotels we stopped in. We then had a Static Holiday Caravan in North Devon where we would spend a few weeks in the gorgeous Devon Countryside; that was also right next to the coast so had some lovely beaches too! My next holiday was to the Greek Island of Crete. Landing at Heraklion Airport was such an experience as the runway is right next to the Ocean! We loved Crete that much that a few years later, we spent a week on the much smaller Greek Island of Kos.
I then took a trip over to Stockholm Arlanda Airport in Sweden, where I spent the night in the famous 'Jumbostay' hotel. This is a retired Boeing 747-200 that has had hotel rooms put in the interior. I stayed in the cockpit! The cockpit has been left as it was when the aircraft was in service, but has a bed and bathroom in there! Even all 4 engines and the landing gear housings are also rooms! (Highly recommend this to any fellow aviation enthusiast!) Flying with SAS was also such a great experience?
I also flew to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport for a day spotting trip. It's such a huge airport with amazing spotting locations. This was my first time flying with FlyBe and their Dash 8 Q400. I've never been pushed back in my seat as much as I have been in the Dash 8! Those turboprops are very powerful!
My next trip was on a 2 week cruise around the Caribbean. This also was my first ever time on a long haul wide body aircraft. We flew TUI's Boeing 787-8 there and back, and boy what a beauty!! Our first island stop off was St Marteen, where I got to visit somewhere I've been dreaming of.. Maho Beach! I'm 6ft 4in so when the Air France A330 came over the beach I thought I'd have to duck!
My most recent travel was to the amazing city of New York. We flew with British Airways on their amazing Boeing 747-400 (G-CIVF) to JFK. I was so glad to finally fly on my dream aircraft before they retire them all. On the way back, I flew aboard a very rare Boeing 777-200 (Non ER model, G-ZZZB) from EWR. New York is seriously the most incredible city I've ever been to. The locals are so friendly and they love us British!
I also did a lot of travelling during my time in the Air Cadets. We visited and toured many RAF and USAF bases. I also travelled to Nijmegen in Holland, where I completed the 100 Mile Nijmegen Military Marches as part of the British Military Contingent. I later flew to RAF Troodos in Cyprus, where we also visited the famous RAF Akrotiri a lot. This also happened to be my last ever time flying with Monarch Airlines before they unfortunately ceased trading..
The last question: Are you a pilot? If so, what do you fly?
A: I'm currently a Student Pilot flying a Cessna 152. It's such a great little aircraft to fly and handles very well to the pilots controls! I'm also hoping to gain more hours on the Piper PA-28 Warrior that my flight school also operates.
If you've reached the end, then thanks for taking time to read about my experiences. Hoping to grow this page with Olivia into a platform that enables like minded individuals the opportunity to share their passion with just about anything with wheels!
~ Keiran

So here is my personal top 43 eurovision ranking with comments be below
Comments
-- Finland: My country so I won't rank this. There is always tendency to be a bit biased when it comes to your own country. I wasn't big fan of the song at the beginning but the live really made this song grow on me. They were clearly best act on the live shows so they did deserve to win.  I think there is potential to go to the finals so fingers cross.
  42. Czeck Rebuplic: Sorry but this song is just boring.. I don't even have that much to say about it.. Not the type of music I listen.. I'm afraid that this song isn't that memorable.
41. Slovenia: Oh Omar Naber the man who has made on of my favourite eurovisions of all time (If you don't know what i'm talking about check out esc 2005 slovenia) .. but this.. oh well this is just one very forgettable eurovision ballad.. sorry but it's no for me.
40. Germany: Okey I try to be nice with this. She sings good at live.. yeah that's about it.. I have tried to make myself to like this song but it's just.. I don't know.. lyrics are just bad and over all just meh for me.
39. Malta: There isn't exactly anything wrong with the song. It's just quite unoriginal eurovision ballad. Nothing new. If you like this part of eurovision then this is probably song for you.. I just don't like it.
  38. Russia: Haven't checked the latest news if they are taking part or not but don't wanna exclude this either.  This song.. well mm she's a sweet girl and it's a sweet song.. just not what I would listen.
37. Denmark: Oh Denmark I admit I probably dislike this song more cos I watched their national finals  and liked other song way way way more than this (I'm a fan of cheesy euro disco and half naked man.. but hey can you blame me) This just not my cup of tea. I won't listen this more than I have to.
36. United Kingdom: I have started to like this song than I did before but still not my top songs of the year. I just think that UK would have so much potential for more than this. Just not fan of these eurovision ballads if you can already tell.
35. Georgia: I don't hate this song. She is powerful singer with powerful song. It's just not one of the songs I would put to my playlist. I can handle this when it comes to the live shows but that's about it.
34. Ireland: Very irish ballad. Nothing really wrong with the song. But to be honest can't remember nicely how this song goes. Quite forgettable. Sweet ballad nothing more nothing less.
33.  Serbia: It's not bad song. It's just quite  forgettable. There isn't any interesting hook in this song that would make me craving for more.
32.Lithuania: I'm actually surprised that this song got this high on my ranking. But this song has grown on me for a bit. At least it's not boring song. I won't go to refill my wine glass while listening this song. This songs is still quite too much bizarre to get enough votes i'm afraid.
31. Albania: I will complain about the same thing I complain about every year with Albania. Why ooh why you have to translate your songs?  If you want to participate with english song then why not to make the songs in english in the beginning with?? why to first make it in albanian and then try to make it fit in english?  it's just doesn't make any sense. I like this song more in albanian. It's still not that bad song. And she is gorgeous singer and sings amazingly in live. Defiantly not the worst song of the yea.
30.  Croatia: Definitely one of the most interesting songs of the year. It has some Disney feel in it. Also i'm interested to see how he can change his tones in live. Definitely looking forward to see this song and him singing it. Just not my taste of music.
29. Creece: I'm a fan of cheesy dance songs but sorry this is just too cheap even for me. I can handle this that one night and maybe party a little but it's a no for me. I won't listen this much after esc are over.
28.  Polan: This reminds me of Bond song for some reason. It's not bad song and I can see why there is people liking this song. It's just not my taste.
27. Ukraine: It's always refreshing to see other genres than cheesy pop and ballads. So I'm glad Ukraine chose this song. Is it my all time favourite rock song? Mmh not really. I do like rock music but this isn't really the song I like to listen all the time. It has grown on me tho' quite  a bit.
26.Iceland: I think this sounds very nordic. I could imagine this kind of song coming from Norway or Sweden also. It's not bad song but not the top cast either. I do like it quite much and it's pretty catchy.
25. Israel: well I think this and Creece are pretty similar. Cheap pop songs that are okey to party on when esc party is on but there isn't much to tell to next generation eurovision fans about this song. Some other year could have been higher but this year there is just so much better dance songs. Okey okey I might have given some cute boy extra points to this song.
24. Romania: Oh Yodel it! It's definitely eurovision material. I'm glad they chose this song cos well comm’on it wouldn't be eurovision without acts like this. I'm glad that eurovision is getting it's weird factor back on. And I mean weird in good way. You have to admit that you can’t hear yodeling in everyday radio pop song. Btw both of them are good singers.
23. Australia: Very quality eurovision ballad. Pretty safe choice. Not the most memorable song of the night but it's not bad either. One of the best in category of eurovision ballads.
22.Latvia: This song will bring the burst of energy to the stage for sure. This song itself isn't just that kind of song I like personally that much.. It's okey song. It will be nice to watch in show but I'm not gonna listen it that much.
21.Netherlands: Is it throwback Thursday? Hello is it year '99 calling? Am I watching Charmed marathon on Netflix and still waiting for the episode where Leo first show up and scream like a fan girl cos piper x leo is the one and only otp.. oh sorry I got lost in track. I quite like this song. It's very old fashioned on it's on way but it's not bad thing. It gives you feels and things that give you feels can't be that bad.
20. Austria: Oh Nathan Nathan.. I have to admit I have a thing for him. I have thing for red heads I can’t deny it. Yeh this song got quite a few cute boy bonuses. It's a chill song. Not really the type I like that much but if Nathan sing it I can listen to it.
19. Belarus: This is just one very adorable song. It makes you feel good and makes you wonder if there actually is that small three hugging hippie living inside you. Who just want to sit next to bonfire holding hand in circle and singing songs. BTW love that it's sang in Belorussian.
18. San Marino: Okey remember the part when I said I love cheesy eurovision disco songs? Well like I said I love them and I love this song. Just want to get up clap my hands and move my hips like a John Travolta.
17. Switzerland: I follow you Apollo.. very catchy chorus.. very good live and man that woman is gor-ge-us.. definitely some hot woman extra points here. Not quite my top 10 material but definitely a good song that goes right to my playlist.
16. Spain: Yeah I know I'm cheap.. I dunno everyone seem to hate this song and i'm just here in my tropical printed shirt sipping pina colada from coconut and wondering what is it exactly that I'm gonna do for my lover.. Overall this Manel boy's surfer charisma has affected me and I'm quite enjoying the song.
15.Estonia: i'm quite digging this song. It also have some vibe from the past but it seems to be a thing this year.. Maybe i'm getting old cos it doesn't bother me at all. This Koit Tooma has very nice voice I specially like it. Not bad Estonia not bad at all.
14.Armenia: Uuuh I love the vibe this song has. A bit mystical and this woman has nice voice. I haven’t listen it as much I have other songs since it was the last to be released. But I'm liking it.. waiting to see how is the live show.
13. Azerbaijan: I admit it I was expecting again one very swedish sounding ballad sang by one gorgeous woman in glittery gown. So yes you surprised me positively Azerbaijan. Still a gorgeous woman singing but a bit more with an attitude that I like. Looking forward to see live.
12.Macedonia: Oh I like this song a lot a lot a lot. It reminds me of some other song can't quite catch which one.. but it's a type of music my big sis used to listen a lot and has affected me also .. very nice.
11.Bulgaria: On of my favourite ballads of the year.. more modern than others.. very quality song-- I can see this doing well.
10.France: Would have been better without forced english in the middle but still very nice song. This has been on my top 10 from the beginning. I'm glad France sending top songs every year.
9. Moldova: Well common it's a epic sax guy eurovision just got 100 times better. I loved sunstroke project last time and I love them now. Best party song of the year. How you can be not liking this song?
8. Cyprus: Very radio friendly song with catchy lyrics. Quality song yet again fom Cyprus I'm glad. Interesting to see how it's gonna be live.
7. Sweden: First time of the history of melodifestivalen Sweden picked the song I liked.. sorry but that Nano was way too similar to one other song and it bothered me way too much. Robin had by far the best show in melodifestivalen I dare him not to change a thing (Dressmanwalk and hot dancers in suits works for me). Sweden you just know how to make shows and this song really need its live show to get where it is now.
6. Hungary: Love this sone more and more by every listening. I love it's in hungary I love the violin I just love everything. Hungary is always strongest when they pick songs sang in hungarian. Unique and beautiful.
5.Norway: I just L-O-V-E this song.. amazing... He has so great voice and the beat is nice.. modern song.. good job Norway.
4. Portugal: Oh Portugal finally did it!!! Finally a song I adore so so so much.. I feel like crying every time I listen this.. and I haven't even had time to check the translation yet.  But that old Disney feel you get from this. You get thrown middle of black and white film where you sit in smoky table and listen when this beautiful man sing like a bird.. I'm in love.
3. Belgium: What is happening this year? What are these great modern pop songs we are having.. It's just quality after quality.. Awesome job Belgium.. this song will do good.. She just need to be good in live show..
2.Montenegro: Yes I know and I'm sorry.. but couldn't help mysef. .I was like 'can I do this?' but then the spaceship hit me.. I mean ho you cannot love this song? Man Montenegro I'm surprised.. this kind of cheeesy euro disco I love love love.. Just need my glitter and I'm ready to paaartyy.. (this song would make a great condom campaign song.. just saying.. cos I have my suit on..no need to worry..)
1. Italy: Oh how I hate that he had to cut the song for eurovision.. But oh well I'm in love.. and nothing can change my love for you Francesco Gabbani I'm waitin..ghmm I ment I'm wai..waiwing for you song.. not like i'm waiting him to marry me or anything.. nope not at all.. I have very realistic ideas in my head.. but common it's cheery italian pop song I lvoe cheery italian pop songs.. and when you add a hot italian man with tons of charisma what can go wrong?

A Musical Morning in Malta
Tumblr media
BRITISH TRADITIONS, PIPERS TOO
Medieval Christendom lurks everywhere in Malta, which isn't too surprising for a country born from the crusades. The current nation of Malta goes back to 1523 when the Spanish crown gave the islands to the Knights of St. John after they were successively driven out of Jerusalem, Cyprus and Rhodes and had finally become homeless.
The "Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta" ran the islands until Napoleon Bonaparte arrived in 1798. But since Napoleon had other things on his mind (Egypt), the French occupation lasted only two years when the British came to the rescue.
The Order of Malta is still in existence today, operating worldwide as a humanitarian relief agency. Technically it is also a sovereign state though certainly not a country. It owns two buildings in Rome, which have extraterritorial status (like the Vatican), and it issues its own currency, the scudo. It even has exclusive licence plates (starting with the letters SMOM for Sovereign Military Order of Malta, followed by a two-digit number). To make things even more curious, it also has an actual embassy in Valletta, with a hand-painted sign on the wall, as you can see here.
Tumblr media
Malta can be a startling sort of place with huge domed churches rising above small villages or the flag of the Holy See fluttering in the sea breeze (as well as the Maltese cross, of course).
Although the culture reflects Arabic and Italian influences, Malta was effectively British for much of the 19th and 20th centuries. It gained independence in 1964. A certain colonial Britishness lingers, a matter of ancient Bedford trucks, meat pies, pedestrian crossings and military traditions. Soldiers are not usually seen, except in the morning when the band of the armed forces performs in the heart of Valletta.
They march from the main city gate to St George's square where they do a musical walkabout and play music other than marches. It lends a infectiously carefree air to one of Europe's most picturesque capitals.
I happened to be in the right place at the right time, in the square, so here is an excerpt of the band, augmented by pipers.
