You'll Blow a Gasket When You See Why the Biden DOJ Is Threatening to Sue Texas
If the border is so secure, why is the Biden Justice Department gung-ho about suing Texas over enforcing a state law aimed at curbing illegal immigration? It’s a bit of a rhetorical exercise since you already know the answer: You’ve been following the updates from Eagle Pass and know the southern border is an abject disaster. The Biden White House has been adamant, even exhibiting signs of frustration regarding this question about immigration.
The border is closed and secure. No one is getting through except for the illegals arriving by the truck full. It’s become so bad that even Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), of all people, says that there’s a crisis on the border. He noted how the equivalent of the population of Pittsburgh is arriving every day while chastising his party for refusing to talk about it. The Pennsylvania Democrat says that it’s not xenophobic to admit we have a problem.
With the administration not doing anything to curb the flow of illegals, states need to take matters into their own hands. Texas has built a floating barrier along the Rio Grande that a federal court now says must be removed. The state legislature passed a new law to enforce existing federal immigration laws. That’s led to the DOJ threatening to sue them (via CBS News):
Mind-blowing, disgraceful numbers. It’s intentional. https://t.co/V1sMG2b3mp— Guy Benson (@guypbenson) December 29, 2023

The Biden administration on Thursday warned Texas that it will sue the state if it implements a strict immigration law known as SB4 that would empower state and local law enforcement officials to arrest, jail and prosecute migrants suspected of entering the U.S. unlawfully.
The Justice Department said it would file a lawsuit against SB4 if Texas did not assure federal officials by Jan. 3 that the state would refrain from enforcing the law as planned in March, according to a letter sent to Gov. Greg Abbott on Dec. 28 and obtained by CBS News. In addition to creating illegal entry crimes at the state level, the law would allow Texas judges to issue de facto deportation orders.
In its letter, the Justice Department said SB4 would effectively criminalize actions that are already illegal at the federal level, undermine relations with Mexico and prevent officials from enforcing federal immigration laws, including those designed to grant refuge to migrants fleeing persecution.
"Because SB 4 is unconstitutional and will disrupt the federal government's operations, we request that Texas forbear in its enforcement," Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Brian Boynton said in his letter to Abbott.
[…]
Renae Eze, a spokeswoman for Abbott, said Texas is prepared to defend SB4 before the Supreme Court.
Abbott should welcome that fight. Again, if the border was secure, why does the DOJ even bother unless they know the southern border is a mess and don’t care about it, per orders from Mr. Dementia? You all know the answer. Of course, it’s intentional. It’s been that way for over a generation now, the free flow of illegal aliens, which has artificially increased Democratic Party clout on the Hill through the creation of new districts from the population bumps.
Texas, stand firm and enforce your law to curb illegal immigration.

Washington, D.C., wants to lower the maximum sentences for criminals and make life easier for criminals who illegally own guns.
The D.C. Council unanimously approved changes to the city’s criminal code, which would reduce maximum sentences for burglaries, carjackings, and robberies. It would also reduce penalties for illegal gun possession, including for carrying a pistol without a license and for being a felon in possession of a firearm.***
Meanwhile, as of September, there were 330 reported carjackings in the city, up 23% compared to last year. D.C. residents risk having their car stolen simply by loading or unloading groceries. Carjackings have been rising in the city since 2019, and it isn’t just their cars that are at risk. Washington Commanders rookie running back Brian Robinson was shot twice in an attempted carjacking in August, and a Pakistani immigrant was killed in 2021 when two carjackers flipped his vehicle.
The lower penalties for illegal possession also come as the city has failed to get its homicide issue under control. In 2021, the city hit 200 homicides in November, the most in the city since 2003. This year, the city hit 100 homicides in June, the fastest it had hit that mark since 2003. Homicides have increased every year in Washington, D.C., since 2017.*** https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/dc-wants-to-lower-sentences-for-carjackers-and-felons

The Pennsylvania GOP-controlled House impeached Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner on Wednesday over allegations that his policies led to a spike in the city's violent crime.
Pennsylvania Republicans filed articles of impeachment against Krasner on Oct. 27 for "negligence of duty." Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff said that, under Krasner, there have been almost 1,000 homicides in Philadelphia in the last 22 months, as well as "over 1,000 carjackings since the beginning of the year," according to the Philadelphia Tribune.
The House voted to impeach Krasner 107-85. The vote will now go to the Senate, where critics need a two-thirds majority to convict Krasner. However, Republicans hold only a slight majority, so it is unclear whether they will be able to get the votes needed to oust the Philadelphia district attorney.*** https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/pennsylvania-house-impeaches-philadelphia-da-larry-krasner

Nellie Bowles makes a good point about political privilege
→ Can Dems handle investigating FTX? The crypto wunderkind Sam Bankman-Fried seems like he’d be in a lot of trouble right now. It sure looks like he was running one of the largest financial scams in history, with his cryptocurrency “bank” at one point valued at $32 billion and Bankman-Fried on his way to being “the world’s first trillionaire,” according to the investment firm Sequoia Capital. But Bankman-Fried was also one of the largest donors to the Democratic party, second only to George Soros this past cycle. And so the touch from media and regulatory bodies has been extraordinarily, hilariously soft. SEC chair Gary Gensler, a former campaign finance chair for Hillary Clinton, has long been cozy with Bankman-Fried, helping his business grow (when you give that much money, it’s only fair to get a little something back). From Fortune magazine: “Cop-on-the-beat Gensler not only failed to spot the crime—he appeared set to go along with a legislative strategy that would have given SBF a regulatory moat and made him king of the U.S. crypto market.”
It’s a family operation. Bankman-Fried’s parents are Stanford Law School professors and deeply involved with Democratic party leadership. His mother, Barbara Fried, has helped raise tens of millions for Democrats through her PAC, Mind the Gap. His father, Joseph Bankman, helped draft tax legislation for Elizabeth Warren.
So the media has decided for now that the young Bankman-Fried was just a goofy overextended do-gooder. As the NYT put it this week: “His ambitions exceeded his grasp” and he was just super “overextended.” Same thing happens when I make too many work commitments—I end up in the Bahamas with a billion dollars. SBF is still on the line-up to speak at an upcoming NYT event with Janet Yellen, Secretary of the Treasury.
The man who cleaned up Enron—John Ray III—has been dragged back in now to clean up FTX. And here’s what he said in bankruptcy filings: “Never in my career have I seen such a complete failure of corporate controls and such a complete absence of trustworthy financial information as occurred here. From compromised systems integrity and faulty regulatory oversight abroad, to the concentration of control in the hands of a very small group of inexperienced, unsophisticated and potentially compromised individuals, this situation is unprecedented.”
(Enron lost its shareholders $74 billion.)
For his part, Bankman-Fried is being pretty honest about who he is, which is a con artist. A Vox reporter had this exchange with the crypto mogul:
Never trust a grown man who writes “hehe.”
You’d think after saying something like that, the gloves would come off. Nope! The Vox reporter goes with the same old line that Bankman-Fried was just in over his head: “Why didn’t Bankman-Fried realize what was happening until it was too late?” she asks. That’s a question I’m sure his defense lawyer will use a lot. The poor child had no idea what was happening, your honor. This gentle, credulous treatment is 100% unrelated to the fact that Bankman-Fried has funded that very Vox vertical, a collaboration the company says is “on pause.” Ok.
Just in case, though, Vox is being sure to distance Democrats from Bankman-Fried with another article, headlined: “The impact of Sam Bankman-Fried’s support for Democrats is massively overstated.” See, it’s not such a big deal to be the party’s second largest donor who just spent $36 million supporting Dems in the midterms.
Last note on this is to point out that his mom, Barbara, is a major ethicist at Stanford who doesn’t believe in free will, personal responsibility, or blame, which is very much the mom you want in this situation. “The philosophy of personal responsibility has ruined criminal justice and economic policy. It’s time to move past blame,” Barbara wrote in the Boston Review.
Anyway, once you know this man is a complete scammer, this video interview is so much funnier: https://youtu.be/HPM6rf0-e6M

Why isn’t this an ACLU case?
WILMINGTON, Del.—A lawsuit against Wilmington, Delaware’s abusive towing scheme will move forward after a federal district court ruled against the city’s attempt to dismiss the case. In September 2021, two victims of Wilmington’s tow-and-impound racket, Ameera Shaheed and Earl Dickerson, represented by the Institute for Justice (IJ), filed a lawsuit seeking to bring an end to Wilmington’s unconstitutional impound system.
“This is a great decision, and we can’t wait to get the city and the towing companies under oath at deposition,” said IJ Attorney Will Aronin. “Wilmington empowered these companies to keep and scrap thousands of cars in exchange for running the city’s impound program. That’s unconstitutional and today’s victory brings us one huge step closer to shutting the system down for good.”
Wilmington contracts out its municipal impound system to private towing companies and funds the whole system by letting these companies wrongfully take and keep people’s cars. The city pays these companies nothing for their services, but there’s no such thing as a free lunch. The price of Wilmington’s “cost-free” impound services falls squarely on vehicle owners in Wilmington, who are at risk of losing their cars to an impound system that profits off scrapping the cars they tow.
U.S. District Judge Colm F. Connolly determined that “Wilmington can’t have it both ways.” Either the victims have an argument that taking the whole value of their car for simple parking tickets is an excessive fine, or the owners have a claim that the city is taking property from them without compensation since their tickets don’t rise to the value of the cars. While the city recently announced reforms to make the towing program less abusive, these fundamental problems remain.
The city ticketed Ameera’s legally parked car six times in nine days. While her appeal of the wrongly issued tickets was pending, the city towed her car and demanded payment in full. When Ameera, a disabled grandmother of three, could not afford to pay the more than $300 in tickets within 30 days, First State Towing scrapped her car. Though Ameera’s lost car was worth over $4,000, Wilmington still demands payment and has actually increased what she owes with added penalties to $580. *** https://ij.org/press-release/wilmington-residents-win-first-round-of-lawsuit-challenging-citys-unconstitutional-impound-racket/

An Ohio man was arrested today on criminal charges related to his alleged involvement in a cryptocurrency investment fraud scheme that raised at least $10 million from investors.
According to court documents, Rathnakishore Giri, 27, of New Albany, allegedly misled investors by fraudulently promoting himself as an expert cryptocurrency trader, with a specialty in trading Bitcoin derivatives. As alleged in the indictment, Giri falsely promised investors that he would generate lucrative returns with no risk to their principal investment amount, which he guaranteed to return. In reality, Giri often allegedly used money provided by new investors to repay old investors – a hallmark of a Ponzi scheme. Evidence showed the suspect cut telephone lines and unscrewed porch and living room lightbulbs.

After the attack, Smith says the rapist offered a cruel gesture and haunting comments.

***On December 5, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit will hear arguments about whether this arrangement is constitutional. In Consumers’ Research v. FCC , petitioners argue that Section 254 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which establishes the modern universal service program, is an unconstitutional delegation of legislative authority to the FCC. They also argue that the agency’s decision to outsource management of the program to the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) is an unconstitutional delegation of power to a private entity. If successful, the suit will rein in an increasingly unstable program and prompt Congress to put its universal service initiatives on firmer legal ground with more accountability.
The petitioners’ argument is quite simple. Article I of the U.S. Constitution provides that “all legislative Powers herein shall be vested in a Congress of the United States,” including the “Power To lay and collect Taxes . . . to pay the Debts . . . of the United States.” But with regard to the USF, Section 254 delegates that power instead to the executive branch. The FCC, not Congress, makes important policy judgments about what programs should be established under universal service and, more importantly, how to raise revenue to fund those programs. As a result, Congress has unconstitutionally delegated the legislative power to the FCC in violation of the separation of powers.*** https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/restoring-america/fairness-justice/fifth-circuit-hear-long-overdue-constitutional-challenge-universal-service-fund

He headed the a group referred to as the "DeMeo crew", which became notorious for the large number of alleged murders they committed and for the grisly way they disposed of the bodies, which became known as "the Gemini Method".The crew committed a very large amount of murders, with the majority of them committed by DeMeo himself. Roy Albert DeMeo was born in 1940 in Bath Beach, Brooklyn, to a working class Italian immigrant family of Neapolitan origin. Anthony Gaggi, a soldier in the Gambino crime family, noticed DeMeo and told him that he could make even more money with his successful business if he came to work directly for the Gambinos. Through the late 1960s, DeMeo's organized crime prospects increased on two fronts. He continued in the loansharking business with Gaggi, and began developing a crew of young men involved in car theft. It was this collective of criminals that would become known both in the underworld and in law enforcement circles as the DeMeo crew.
The first member of the DeMeo crew was 16-year-old Chris Rosenberg, who met DeMeo in 1966 when he was dealing marijuana at a Canarsie gas station. DeMeo helped Rosenberg increase his business and profits by loaning him money so that he could deal in larger amounts. By 1972, Rosenberg had introduced his friends to DeMeo and they began working for him as well. The members of the crew included Joseph "Dracula" Guglielmo (DeMeo's cousin), Joseph and Patrick Testa, and Anthony Senter. DeMeo joined a Brooklyn credit union that same year, gaining a position on the board of directors shortly afterward. He utilized his position to launder money earned through his illegal ventures. He also introduced colleagues at the credit union to a lucrative side-business, laundering the money of drug dealers he had become acquainted with. DeMeo also built up his loansharking business with funds stolen from credit union reserves.
DeMeo's collection of loanshark customers, while still primarily those in the car industry, soon included other businesses such as a dentist's office, an abortion clinic, restaurants and flea markets. He was also listed as an employee for a Brooklyn company named S & C Sportswear Corporation, and frequently told his neighbors he worked in construction, food retailing and the used car business.
In late 1974, a conflict that had erupted between the DeMeo crew and Andrei Katz, a young auto repair shop owner who was partners with DeMeo in a stolen car ring, had continued to escalate. In May 1975, DeMeo was informed by a police officer that, as a result of this conflict, Katz was cooperating with authorities. In June Katz was lured to a place where he could be confronted. After being abducted, he was stabbed to death and then dismembered. An accomplice who helped bait Katz confessed her role, and Joseph Testa and Henry Borelli were both arrested. They would secure an acquittal at trial in January 1976.
This was the first known murder committed by the DeMeo crew, and for years it was thought to have been the first occasion where DeMeo or members of his crew had dismembered a body for disposal. In 2003, however, new information was provided to the FBI by Bonanno underboss Salvatore Vitale, who claimed that in 1974 he was ordered to deliver the corpse of a man who had just been murdered to a garage in Queens so that it could be disposed of by DeMeo. As the 1970s continued, DeMeo cultivated his followers into a crew experienced with the process of murdering and dismembering victims. With the exception of killings intended to send a message to any who would hinder their criminal activities, or murders that presented no other alternative, a set method of execution was established by DeMeo and crew to ensure that victims would be dispatched quickly and then made to disappear. The style of execution was dubbed the "Gemini Method", after the Gemini Lounge, the primary hangout of the DeMeo crew, as well as the site where most of the crew's victims were killed.
The process of the Gemini Method, as revealed by multiple crew members and associates who became government witnesses in the early 1980s, was to lure the victim through the side door of the lounge and into the apartment in the back portion of the building. At this point, a crew member (almost always DeMeo according to crew-member-turned-government-witness Frederick DiNome) would approach with a silenced pistol in one hand and a towel in the other, shooting the victim in the head then wrapping the towel around the victim's head wound like a turban to stanch the blood flow. Immediately after, another member of the crew (originally Chris Rosenberg, up until his 1979 murder, according to government witness testimony) would stab the victim in the heart to prevent more blood from pumping out of the gunshot wound. By then, the victim would be dead, at which point the body would be stripped of clothing and dragged into the bathroom, where the remaining blood drained out or congealed within the body. This was to eliminate the messiness of the next step, when crew members would place the body onto plastic sheets laid out in the main room and proceed to dismember it, cutting off the arms, legs and head.
The body parts would then be put into bags, placed in cardboard boxes and sent to the Fountain Avenue Dump in Brooklyn, where so many tons of garbage were dropped each day that it would be nearly impossible for the bodies to be discovered. During the initial stages of an early 1980s federal/state task force targeting the DeMeo crew, a plan by authorities to excavate sections of the dump to locate remains of victims was aborted when it was deemed too costly and unlikely to locate any meaningful evidence. The landfill, opposite the Starrett City Apartment Complex on Pennsylvania Avenue in the heavily African-American East New York section of Brooklyn, across the Belt Parkway, was shut down in 1985, and capped over since, all signs (and odors) that a landfill had existed gone, replaced by a parkland.
Some victims would be killed in other ways for varying reasons. At times, suspected informants or those who committed an act of disrespect against a member of the crew or their superiors had their bodies left in the streets of New York to serve as a message and warning. There were also occasions where it would not be possible to lure the intended victim into the Gemini Lounge, in which case other locations would have to be used. A cabin cruiser owned by Richard DiNome was used on at least one occasion to dispose of bodies. In the latter half of 1975, DeMeo became a silent partner in a peep show/prostitution establishment in Bricktown, New Jersey after the owner of the business became unable to pay his loansharking debts. DeMeo also began dealing in bestiality and child pornography, which he sold to his New Jersey establishment as well as connections he had in Rhode Island. When Gaggi found out about DeMeo's involvement in such taboo films, he ordered DeMeo to stop under the threat of death. However, DeMeo defied Gaggi and continued the practice. Gaggi did not retaliate, and, according to his nephew, Dominick Montiglio, the subject was never mentioned again as long as DeMeo continued making payments to Gaggi. DeMeo also dealt in narcotics despite the Gambino family strictly forbidding such activity. In 2011, former Gambino associate Greg Bucceroni alleged that during the late 1970s and early 1980s, DeMeo utilized his henchman Richard Kuklinski on behalf of Robert "DB" DiBernardo and the Gambino family's pornography establishments in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Baltimore. Here, Kuklinski would traffic illegal pornography, collect debts, and carry out contract killings.
As 1975 drew to a close, DeMeo was the subject of IRS investigations into his income. Months earlier, the Borrough of Brooklyn Credit Union had been pushed into insolvency as a result of DeMeo and his colleagues' plundering of its finances. As a result, DeMeo quit the Credit Union. Before an indictment could be handed down against him, he utilized false affidavits from businesses owned by friends and acquaintances claiming he was on their payrolls as an employee. These affidavits served to account for some of his income, allowing him to reach a settlement with the IRS.
DeMeo's sources of income, as well as his crew, continued to grow. By July 1976, DeMeo added an automobile firm by the name of Team Auto Wholesalers to his loanshark customers. The owner of Team Auto, Matthew Rega, also purchased stolen vehicles from the crew and sold them off at a New Jersey car lot that he owned. He also involved himself with hijacking delivery trucks from John F. Kennedy International Airport. His crew now included Danny Grillo, a hijacker who had just been released from prison.
In the fall of 1976, the Gambino family went through a massive change when its boss Carlo Gambino died of natural causes. Paul Castellano was named the boss, with Aniello Dellacroce retaining the position of underboss. The implications of this were twofold for DeMeo. Gaggi was elevated to the position of caporegime, taking over the crew of men Castellano previously headed. This promotion was beneficial for DeMeo, whose mentor was now even closer to the family leadership. Another advantage was that with Gambino deceased, new associates would be eligible for membership into the family. Castellano did not immediately "open the books" for new members, opting instead to promote existing members and shuffle around the crews' leaders. He also allegedly opposed the idea of DeMeo being made. Castellano involved himself in white-collar crime and looked down on street-level members such as DeMeo. Additionally, Castellano felt DeMeo was uncontrollable. Gaggi's attempts at persuading Castellano to make DeMeo were continually rejected. By 1977, DeMeo became distraught by this situation and searched for opportunities that would ensure larger returns for his superiors. By 1982, the FBI was investigating the enormous number of missing and murdered persons who were linked to DeMeo or who had last been seen entering the Gemini Lounge. It is around this time that an FBI bug in the home of Gambino family capo Angelo Ruggiero picked up a conversation between Ruggiero and Gene Gotti, a brother of John Gotti.
In the conversation, it is discussed that Paul Castellano had put out a hit on DeMeo, but was having difficulty finding someone willing to do the job. Gene Gotti mentions that his brother, John, was wary of taking the contract, as DeMeo had an "army of killers" around him. It is also mentioned in this same secretly recorded conversation that, at that time, John had killed fewer than 10 people, while DeMeo had killed at least 38. According to mob turncoat Sammy Gravano, eventually the contract was given to Frank DeCicco, but DeCicco and his crew could not get to DeMeo either. DeCicco allegedly handed the job to DeMeo's own men. DeMeo's son Albert wrote that in his final days, DeMeo was paranoid and knew that he would be killed soon. DeMeo considered faking his own death and leaving the country. However, instead he left the house one day and never returned. Albert DeMeo later found Roy's personal belongings such as his watch, wallet, and ring in his study room, and a Catholic pamphlet. In his final days, DeMeo was seen wearing a leather jacket, with a shotgun concealed underneath. On January 10, 1983, DeMeo went to crew member Patty Testa's house for a meeting with his men. That night, he failed to attend his daughter Dione's birthday party. As it was unusual for DeMeo to miss an important family occasion, his family suspected that something had happened to him. Ten days later, on January 20, DeMeo's Cadillac was discovered in the parking lot of the Veruna Boat Club in Brooklyn. DeMeo's partially frozen body was found in the trunk with a chandelier on top of it.[11] He had been shot multiple times in the head and had a bullet wound in his hand, assumed by law enforcement to be a reflexive defensive wound caused when his killers opened fire on him. There are several accounts of DeMeo's death. The task force investigating the DeMeo crew theorized that DeMeo was set up in a similar manner to how he set up Rosenberg, and that Gaggi, Testa and Senter were present when he was killed.[12] When Lucchese family underboss Anthony "Gaspipe" Casso became an FBI informant in 1993, he said that Paul Castellano had ordered DeMeo's death, but due to the DeMeo crew's reputation as hardened killers, the Gotti and DeCicco crews had been unable or unwilling to carry out the hit. Therefore DeCicco passed the contract to Casso, who knew Anthony Senter and Joseph Testa, and ordered them to kill DeMeo. In Casso's account, DeMeo was seated and about to receive coffee, when Testa and Senter suddenly opened fire on him. Nino Gaggi was not present. In April 1984, Colombo crime family soldier Ralph Scopo was overheard explaining to an associate that DeMeo had been killed by his own family because they merely suspected that he would not be able to stand up to legal charges that resulted from his stolen car ring. Albert DeMeo believed that his father was killed by Testa and Senter. The remainder of DeMeo's crew were soon rounded up and the core members, Henry Borelli, Joseph Testa and Anthony Senter were imprisoned for life after two trials that saw them convicted of a collective total of 25 murders, in addition to extortion, car theft and drug trafficking. The convictions were secured in large part by testimony of former members Frederick DiNome and Dominick Montiglio. Paul Castellano was indicted for ordering the murder of DeMeo, as well as a host of other crimes, but was killed in December 1985 while out on bail in the middle of the first trial. The murder was allegedly ordered by John Gotti, who thus became the new boss of the Gambino family.
𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 here and do i have the tea for you . ariana is back on campus , which is surprising considering the threatening note i left them . yes , i know all about how despite outward appearances , her family isn’t as picture perfect as they may seem because of their pride . imagine the tabloids and how the malabanan family would feel for such information to come out , not to mention the reputation of delta because of their actions . at this rate , she is better off staying put in beverly hills , california and living off that $625m family net worth . what’s the point in studying applied economics and management with plans to take over her mother’s abandoned executive position at her family’s company , is it worth it with what i know ? anyways , they may want to continue to be genteel & cosmopolitan because the disingenuous & acrimonious attributes make me want to spill . ( kelsey merritt , remy , eastern ) .
hello again my angels ! it’s remy here with my second bby , miss ariana ! i’ll keep this greeting short since my one over on christian is a bit lengthy , but i’m super excited to write and plot with everyone ! i will admit that ariana’s intro is a bit lengthy because i pay a little too much to details , and i also placed indicators for where the eating disorder trigger warning begins and ends if you choose to skip over that content . other than that , once again my discord is 𝕥𝕒𝕕𝕒𝕤𝕙𝕚 𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐚#6936 if plotting is easier for you there , and i can’t wait to get the ball rolling !

daniel malabanon’s family immigrated to the united states back in the nineteenth century from their home country of the phillippines . through the decades , despite the trials and tribulations , the malabanon family rose through the ranks of politics and business , with daniel’s grandparents having ten children between the two of them . the malabanon family as they became more influential in american politics was also building their business empire . while daniel’s grandfather was pursuing the levels of politics from law school , his wife was pursuing business , with the dream of someday having her own cosmetics line .
as the decades passed and the malabanon family amassed their meager beginnings to becoming a part of the country’s elite , soon comes grandson daniel , who decides to follow in his father , uncle , and brothers’ footsteps of going into politics . smart in his own right , daniel heads off to the prestigious university of pennsylvania , where he pursued a degree in political science before eventually moving on to law school . of course , the malabanon name was known throughout the country , but daniel didn’t receive any special treatment while he was in college . after graduation , he keeps his head in the books as he gets his law degree from yet another prestigious university ( columbia ) , and it’s in new york city that daniel meets his future wife , wild child of a multi - billionaire named celine duverney .
made up of messy , blonde waves and the liquid courage of champagne while dancing on tables , celine was the youngest daughter of a billionaire family that wanted to enjoy her twenties despite the pressure from her parents . she was determined to live her own life , and even though she was getting what she deemed a useless degree in business administration , that didn’t stop celine from enjoying her life to the fullest . she spent summers on yachts off the shores of a tropical island or would splurge in neiman marcus simply because her professor told her one of her papers wasn’t good enough . while she was in college , celine was a kappa , and it fit the blonde well considering that she was rich , spoiled , and made sure that everyone around her was fully aware that she was getting dropped off at school in a rolls - royce and never ( absolutely refused ) to eat dining hall food .
when it came to daniel and celine’s relationship , the two started dating while daniel was in his first year of law school and celine was a junior . their relationship was a bit of a whirlwind , and they eventually eloped in a simple wedding on the beach in bali the summer after celine’s graduation . little did the couple know , is that at the time , celine was pregnant with their first baby and eldest son dominic . celine decides to be a stay at home mom while daniel moves through the ranks at a prestigious law firm moving from summer associate to senior associate , but daniel wanted to be congressman . a few more years pass , a second baby named naomi is soon born , the family has made the cross country move to california , and daniel is running for congressman of california .
the family settled into a gorgeous home on sunset boulevard .
after running for often twice and getting beat by a landslide the first time around , daniel is elected as senator and celine begrudgingly becomes thrust into the public eye and is under constant scrutiny . the malabanans are newcomers to the world of politics in this sense , as they’re no longer skirting around the edges and waiting to have their chance at all the glory . marriage and children had calmed celine’s wild ways , but when she was twenty - nine and their last daughter , a bright eyed baby they named ariana was brought into the picture , everything changed for the worst .
to naomi and dominic , celine was a wonderful mother . she baked cookies , they hung out by the pool , she helped them with their homework , but as little ariana grew up , she was not the apple of her mother’s eye . the first strike against her was the fact that she was born via c - section due to a complicated pregnancy , leaving her mother with an ugly scar that remains to this day . she was born in paris while the family was on vacation , actually coming two months before she was due . celine was annoyed with being stuck in paris as she waited for her daughter to grow stronger , and that was the second strike against the innocent child . being in the public eye because of her husband’s job made celine quite conscious of all things appearance , and made sure that she and her children never left the house with a hair out of place or a shirt untucked . naomi , the golden child to her mother , immediately began participating in beauty pageants while her dominic followed his calling and focused on academia like the men before him .
little ariana liked to play , and she liked to play hard . she wanted to play soccer in the rain with the other neighborhood kids and roll down grassy hills until her skin was itchy , but her mother ? she wasn’t having any of that . ari was going to be prim , proper -- her back would be so straight a ruler would be jealous , and those soccer cleats her father bought her were thrown into the trash and replaced with ballet slippers . for years , ariana was no longer the only malabanan kid who played with the others in the neighborhood , and she now had a strict schedule of working out , school , ballet , and studying at the tender age of thirteen . when her freshman year starts , though , ariana abandons her mother’s dream and trades the ballet slippers for a pair of cheerleading pom - poms . with her infectious personality and warm smile , it’s no surprise that ariana makes the coveted harvard - westlake cheerleading team .
and while most mothers would be proud of their daughter’s accomplishment , celine was more focused on her daughter’s appearance than anything else . TW BEGINS she limits what she could and couldn’t eat , often making snide remarks when ariana says how much she’s craving her favorite cheeseburger from shake shack or how she had a bit of cheesecake after dinner . celine wakes her daughter up at five in the morning with a hellish personal trainer that makes her run their expansive neighborhood until her lungs are tight and she’s gasping for air . breakfast is smoothies , lunch is only soup , and even then all the good things that ariana craves have been taken out . she has to be skinny -- she has to make her mother proud .
the lack of food during the day leads to binging in the night , tip - toeing to the kitchen with the aid of the housekeeper , who kept a hidden stash in a cabinet her mother never dared to open . binges turn to regret , tear stained cheeks and the horrid sound of ariana hunched over the toilet as she begs to be forgiven for the disappointment she would bring to her mother . it all comes to a head during ariana’s junior year , when she’s gained an ounce of her mother’s affection and dark circles that are hidden beneath luxury concealer , and it’s the annual homecoming football game . dinner consisted of four baby carrots and a bottle of water , and right as ariana is lifted into the air to perform a basket toss , she’s falling -- and she lands on the unforgiving ground with a sneer on celine’s face as she watches behind saint laurent sunglasses .
ariana goes to the hospital and is diagnosed with bulimia , a word that clouds her in a cloak of embarrassment and springs tears in her father’s eyes . celine is uncaring , picking at her hundred dollar manicure instead of caring for the daughter she allegedly loved so much -- at least , that’s what she said when she spoke to the media . ariana is pulled from harvard - westlake , sadly for her senior year , and begins the slow process of healing . her relationship with food becomes healthy again , and she cries when she has cheesecake , her favorite thing in the world , when she returns home . TW ENDS
she makes the decision to head off to college , putting all of her eggs into one basket when she only applies to hollingsworth university . she’s desperate to get from under her mother’s criticizing eye , and to finally be her own person . during freshman year , ariana pledges kappa in hopes that she’d make a dent in her tainted relationship with her mother , but nothing ever seems to work in her favor . she makes it through rush week and becomes a pledge for the society , bouncing on the balls of her feet when she’s chosen on bid day . all goes well until it’s time for a little bit of hazing , but ariana finds herself with the short end of the stick . she has to clean longer , take one more shot , staying awake an extra hour while the other pledges have gone to bed , and being utterly humiliated when her kappa sisters discover that she had an innocent crush on a boy from sigma .
ariana drops out of kappa and goes the rest of the semester stewing in her upset over the pure humiliation she was forced to endure . when the spring semester rolls around , ariana still carries that torch as she steps into the delta house looking for a fresh start , and it’s the society where she remains today . she’s in the college of business and is also a cheerleader , even though most would assume it harbors too heavy feelings , but her constant work in therapy has helped her regain her love for the sport again .
when it comes to ariana’s personality , she’s something of a spitfire . she’s not afraid of confrontation and she can be extremely petty at times . for her positive traits genteel and cosmopolitan , ariana is respectable when she needs to be ( like attending galas with her family or when she debuted at the debutante ball in new york city ) and since her family traveled as well as met dignitaries around the world a lot thanks to her father’s career , ariana is quite sophisticated and she carries herself as such . as for her negative traits disingenuous and acrimonious , it simply means that she will fake the funk sometimes in order to get something she wants . her disingenuous ways especially shows when she’s being petty , and she’ll pretend to not know the full story to either a . confront the other person with the facts or b . gather up as much information as she possibly can . as for being acrimonious , it means that ari is bitter as hell , especially when talking about kappa .
secret .
when it comes to her secret about her family , the malabanan’s are similiar to the kennedy’s in the sense that they’re the ‘ perfect ’ family with no issues , on the surface . in reality , celine leaves daniel frequently and jets off on exotic excursions with billionaires she just met , trying to get back what she lost because of marriage and children . dominic has fallen into a drug addiction he thinks no one has noticed , and naomi is off doing whatever it is she’s doing . despite that , their friends and extended family always gets the perfect holiday cards when the season rolls around and they’re always written as ‘ family goals ’ on either instagram or twitter .
short headcanons :
ariana lives off - campus and in a gorgeous apartment ( minus that ugly blue bed lol ) .
she drives a black porsche panamera , and she originally wanted a ferrari , but she threw a minor fit when her dad said no . eventually , she got over it .
her style ? is literally all over the place . one day she’ll be wearing all black with a leather jacket , another day she’s dressed like a carbon copy of outfits on pinterest , and on another she’s wearing high heels and a midi - skirt . there’s no in between for her , but you better believe that everything is designer , even down to her hair accessories .
she’s most comfortable in her home , and there’s a chance that when she’s home she’s blaring music . she’ll be in a giant shirt with her hair tugged up in a top knot .
her favorite food is a shackburger with cheese fries and a creamsicle float . she is absolutely obsessed with cheesecake in any and all forms .
wanted plots :
i think a roommates plot would be so much fun ! ariana can be hella standoffish at times , but she’s probably the best roommate out there .
umm ... 👀 i don’t know about you guys but i’m in love with angsty plots , so i’d love anything like that . whether it be exes , something toxic , or even a friendship that turned sour , i’d be down for all of it .
high ! school ! plots ! i’d really love to explore ariana’s life outside of her struggles , so i’d love to high school boyfriend or girlfriend , crushes , friends , enemies ... anything !
a tag full of desired relations ( which will be updated periodically ! ) can be found right here . i’m also down to go based off chemistry if that works best for you ! i also have a desired relations tag for christian but i forgot to link it !
Is it a Christmas miracle? Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), who drew the ire of conservatives for being mentally unwell to serve and altering the Senate dress code to accommodate his gym leisure attire, appears to have had a political epiphany: he’s not a progressive. You read that right. He’s not a conservative, but he’s now channeling common sense liberalism, wanting to address the porous southern border while standing firm with Israel. It may not sound like much, but to the far left, being to the right on these topics could warrant a death sentence. Who is this man, and what has he done with John Fetterman (via NBC News):
What. Is. Going. On. https://t.co/3hWBrMRQ2C— Marina Medvin 🇺🇸 (@MarinaMedvin) December 15, 2023
Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., is breaking with progressives on hot-button issues with his fiery support for Israel and calls for Democrats to engage on tougher immigration laws, disappointing some on the left as he shows an independent streak.
He’s also continually scolding Democrats for not pushing Sen. Bob Menendez out of office after he was indicted on federal charges of taking bribes and acting as a foreign agent for Egypt, which the New Jersey Democrat denies.
[…]
“I’m not a progressive,” Fetterman told NBC News. “I just think I’m a Democrat that is very committed to choice and other things. But with Israel, I’m going to be on the right side of that. And immigration is something near and dear to me, and I think we do have to effectively address it as well.”
Fetterman insisted he can be pro-immigration while also favoring policies to restrict the flow of migration to manageable levels, disagreeing with progressives who oppose new limits on asylum and bash some of the ideas in the negotiations as cruel.
“It’s a reasonable conversation — until somebody can say there’s an explanation on what we can do when 270,000 people are being encountered on the border, not including the ones, of course, that we don’t know about,” he said. “To put that in reference, that is essentially the size of Pittsburgh, the second-largest city in Pennsylvania.”
[…]
Fetterman kept up his scathing criticisms of Menendez, mocking the New Jersey senator and suggesting he stop criticizing President Joe Biden for negotiating an immigration deal with Republicans.
“Oh, Bob Menendez,” he said, laughing. “What a guy. What a guy. He’s still running his mouth against Biden right now.”
“He needs to go. I don’t understand why he can be here, having expelled Santos,” he said. “But I’m sure there might be a very innocent explanation of having gold bars in your mattress and overstuffed envelopes of cash.”

As the kids would say, ‘That’s based.’ Based Fetterman is entertaining. We may not see eye-to-eye on immigration, but at least he’s acknowledging the problem, which has, in turn, infuriated liberals back home. The Pennsylvania Democrat nearly died from a stroke during the 2022 primaries, later beating Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz, which was a source of mockery and shame for the GOP: they couldn’t defeat a man who had overt cognitive issues. His hospitalization following his swearing-in sparked stories about whether he would even last his full term. That’s long forgotten, as Fetterman has morphed into a sensible Democrat...for now. Who knows—he might become insufferable. You never know what the swamp will do to people.
His support for Israel has driven progressives mad back home, so at least on two key issues, we have someone on the other side of the aisle who isn’t insane. And his name is John Fetterman. What a turnaround of events, though one that could quickly end in betrayal.

i was reading through your blog and i noticed on one of your posts about whether the hamiltons owned slaves that he expressed life long antislavery sentiments. i've seen it said though that because of his origins that he necessarily wouldn't have been against it, but i'm interested in knowing of evidence for either argument
The development of Hamilton’s antislavery beliefs and their seeming drop off in his later life is a topic to which I’ve given it a lot of thought–hope you’re ready for an essay! Hamilton’s relationship with slavery is complicated. It’s true that Hamilton’s origins don’t seem to lend themselves to his being an opponent of slavery. Slavery was ubiquitous in the Caribbean where Hamilton grew up; in the year 1770, three years before Hamilton left for America, the island of St. Croix held 18,884 enslaved people to 1,515 whites and freedmen.[1] Hamilton himself was raised in a slave owning household: his mother, Rachel Faucette, inherited five female slaves and their children from her father, all of whom she held until her death in 1768. Only the laws of inheritance barring property from passing to illegitimate children stopped him from owning slaves himself at the age of eleven.
After his mother’s death, Hamilton went to work as a clerk for the trading firm Beekman and Cruger. Downstairs behind the firm’s King’s Street office there stood “a large enclosed yard where the newly arrived slaves were auctioned.”[2] Hamilton’s duties as a clerk included writing advertisements for these slave auctions, and recording the sales for the firm. As Willard Sterne Randall summarizes, “In his early life especially, Hamilton benefited from the Caribbean’s slave based economy. He learned to trade and socialize with its richest benefactors, who included not only his own relatives but all his business colleagues.”[3]
However, it’s also during his youth in the Caribbean that the first hints of his opposition to slavery appear. Part of these early leanings away from slavery may have come from the influence of Presbyterian minister Hugh Knox, a close mentor to Hamilton. Though far from an abolitionist, Knox preached against the horrific mistreatment inflicted upon enslaved people by their masters. For example, in one of his published sermons, Knox asked, “If we shew no mercy to those whom God hath put under us, can we expect any other than judgement without mercy from him whose creatures we abuse?”.[4] The imagery of God as a vengeful master wreaking abuse upon the white inhabitants of the Caribbean, as they abused their own servants is echoed in Hamilton’s famous hurricane letter, published in the Royal Danish American Gazette: “That which, in a calm unruffled temper, we call a natural cause, seemed then like the correction the Deity. Our imagination represented him as an incensed master, executing vengeance on the crimes of his servants.”[5] These early stirrings of conscience would only be heightened upon his arrival in America.
Hamilton’s close relationship with both John Laurens clarified and entrenched his opposition to the institution of slavery. Laurens, who was raised on a sprawling South Carolina plantation and who benefitted more from slavery than even Hamilton had, was also the most outspoken advocate against it on General Washington's staff. When Laurens sought to form a battalion of enslaved men during the revolution, Hamilton wrote him a letter of introduction to John Jay expressing hearty approval of the project. “The contempt we have been taught to entertain for the blacks, makes us fancy many things that are founded neither in reason nor experience,” Hamilton wrote, not exempting himself from the group, “and an unwillingness to part with property of so valuable a kind will furnish a thousand arguments to show the impracticability or pernicious tendency of a scheme which requires such a sacrifice.”[6] Against the charge that blacks were “too stupid to fight,” Hamilton rebuffs any arguments of white supremacy, putting any distinction between the races down to a “want of cultivation (for their natural faculties are probably as good as ours)”.[7] The heart of Laurens’ plan, Hamilton goes on, is not to arm slaves but to open the door to their emancipation: “This circumstance, I confess, has no small weight in inducing me to wish the success of the project; for the dictates of humanity and true policy equally interest me in favour of this unfortunate class of men.”[8] As Hamilton’s anti-slavery sentiments increased, so too did his frustrations with the slaveholding class begin to grow. Writing to Laurens regarding his plan six months later, Hamilton despaired of ever seeing it successful: “that commerce which presided over the birth and education of these states has fitted their inhabitants for the chain, and that the only condition they sincerely desire is that it may be a golden one.”[9] Hamilton’s relationship with Laurens elucidates much on his ideas regarding race and slavery in America, and the fundamental irony of a country fighting for freedom while holding thousands of men, women, and children in bondage.
Beyond his friendship with John Laurens bringing the inhumanity of slavery into sharper focus, Hamilton also began to learn about the economic drawbacks to slavery. In the Universal Dictionary of Trade and Commerce, of which Hamilton took detailed notes in his pay book, Malachy Postlethwayt railed against the slave trade for cutting off Africa as lucrative trade partner for European markets as manufacturing interests increased. An unimaginably profitable trade relationship with an entire continent had been foreclosed “from that unjust, inhumane, and unchristian-like traffic called the SLAVE TRADE, which is carried on by the Europeans.”[10] Adam Smith’s Wealth of Nations argued slavery as a labor system is also inherently inefficient. Slaves worked so hard as they needed to in order to avoid violence. Wage laborers, on the other hand, would work more efficiently on the promise of compensation. Smith concluded, “[T]he work done by free men comes cheaper in the end than that performed by slaves. It is found to do so even at Boston, New York, and Philadelphia, where the wages of common labor are so very high.”[11] Hamilton was learning to oppose slavery for moral and economic reasons.
After the Revolution, Hamilton became a founding member of the New York Manumission Society. Established in 1785, the society sought both to agitate the New York legislature for a gradual abolition law and to protect freedmen from the scourge of kidnappings plaguing the city.[12] Hamilton, along with Robert Troup and William Matlack, proposed imposing strict timetables on when a member of the Society would be required to free any slaves they owned, and suggested the society keep and publish records of all freed men and women, “in order to enable as well members of this society and others to detect attempts to deprive the slaves so manumitted of their Liberty.”[13] A law for the gradual abolition of slavery was passed in New York in 1799, thanks in part to the influence of the Manumission Society, and their provision of free legal services to free men and women threatened with being sold into slavery was invaluable to those they aided. Hamilton would remain a member of the society until his death.
Hamilton undoubtedly could have been more active and outspoken in his opposition to slavery. His lifelong work as legal counsel for the Manumission Society can hardly be considered sufficient when he played such an important role in shaping the nation. However, his lack of activism arguably stemmed not from insufficient interest in the cause, but from a mistaken belief that such activism wouldn't be necessary. The Massachusetts’s courts had abolished slavery entirely, while Pennsylvania and New York were already instituting gradual abolition laws. Influential men like George Washington were setting the example of manumitting slaves upon their death. As the Industrial Revolution took hold, and inventions such as Eli Whitney’s Cotton Engine were unveiled, the need for an abundance of slave labor seemed to be fading. For a time in the late eighteenth century, the slow but steady demise of slavery seemed inevitable.
Nothing evidences this belief more than the fact that slavery is not mentioned once in Hamilton’s exhaustive exploration of labor forces in his Report on Manufactures. Unlike England, America didn’t have an abundant supply of landless lower classes to supply labor for industry. If slavery was to continue to decline over the same decades as manufacturing and industry increased, then it wasn’t worth mentioning as a solution to the foreseeable labor shortages. Instead, he looked to the labor structures of Massachusetts and Pennsylvania for inspiration: Massachusetts, settled by Puritans, strongly encouraged of all its settlers, women and children as well as men, to labor, while in Pennsylvania, the Quakers, unable to reconcile the violence of slavery with their pacifism, relied on encouraging immigration. In doing so, he hoped to create a diverse economy independent of the need for enslaved laborers. In fact, as industry unseated the rigidly hierarchical plantation system of the South, freed black men and women might help fill those labor needs, providing more efficient labor than before as suggested by Adam Smith. That industry would in fact only entrench slavery further into southern society, as demand for cotton and other raw goods increased, was an irony Hamilton sadly didn’t anticipate, and didn’t live to see play out.
