‘Yama - King of Death’ by Palehorse

The Sanskrit calligraphy, translated by Easwaran states: “Get up! Wake up! Seek the guidance of an Illumined teacher and realize the Self. Sharp like a razor’s edge is the path, The sages say, difficult to traverse.”

Descriptions of symbols: The mandalas on the left represent 6 of the Chakras, or centers of vital energy within the living body that can be awakened as Kundalini Shakti.

• The seated boy represents the hero of the Katha Upanashad named Nachiketa who sits for 3 days in meditation waiting for Yama in the Land of Death. Next is a symbol created to signify 'The Fire of Nachiketa’ - a fire sacrifice that burns out the ego and leads to immortality.

• The eye represents the eye of Yama, who stalks about from the moment we are born.

• The heart and rope seeks to illustrate the passage: “When all of the knots that strangle the heart are loosened, the mortal becomes immortal.”

• In the story, the senses are compared to horses, that unless properly trained, will relentlessly carry our bodies through time, down the roads of selfish desires.

• The upside down tree is the eternal Ashwatta Tree, whose root is above, but its branches are downward, iIllustrating that the source of everything in the universe (our world) is Brahman. His dreaming is the root cause of time and space and we are the branches.

The symbol ॐ (Aum) signifies the primordial sound of ultimate reality, consciousness or Atman. Also included is an elephant, which points to Nachiketa’s visions caused by Yama, to entice and test him, as elephants were a symbol of material wealth.

F. Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you've written and explain why you're proud of it.

Ooooh, this one's tricky! Also, spoilers! One of my oneshots coming up (July 25th!) is almost exclusively dialogue, and I'm pretty proud of that, but of the stories I've already written, I'd say probably the dialogue in Quirk Accident when Denki starts getting aphasia. I would have a random number generator up and then count how many words into the dialogue it was, then have a random word generator come up with a word with the same first letter as the original. It's kinda hard for me to explain, but I wrote out all the dialogue normal, then scrambled it all up afterwards while keeping the first letters the same.

For example (this is getting really technical, sorry!), the two chunks of dialogue that come to mind are when Jiro is talking to Denki and when the whole group is crowding Denki.

For Jiro's dialogue, I first wrote: "I thought... ... Please tell me what's wrong so I can help! ... Denki..." Then I used a random word generator and replaced most of the words to make this mess: "Ivory threaten... ... Please treat meadow watch wound so white circle help! ... Dignity..."

U. Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.

This one's not as hard! I really like palehorse because their stories are so detailed that I've read and reread Pulse and Void so many times! MerrilyAround is another talented author, who shows their talent and range in creating both murder mysteries and cute, fluffy stories! Finally, drifting_manatee also has a wide variety of genres to their name, ranging from crackfics that had me howling with laughter to stories that are so melancholic and real.

There are a TON more writers that I could have named, but these have always stood out to me.
