You say, rolling your eyes. You were sitting on Jaleel's bed, with your arms crossed. This nigga had the audacity to press you about an IG post on your PRIVATE Instagram. The post wasn't even that bad. Jaleel's been like this ever since the start of your relationship. At first. You just thought it was cute that he was a little possessive, you thought he was just showing that he cared. But now you're 4 months in and that shit just not cute anymore!

"I'm insecure? Nah I'm just responsible for you, and ion like you out here showing ya ass for all these lil niggas that are thirsting over you. You MY bitch."

Hold up...you know he ain't just say what you THINK he said. All your respect for him went out the window the second he said that. Plus, he wasn't even looking at you during this whole argument, this nigga is turned around, on his PS5, in his gaming chair, paying you no attention. You know what...you don't even care that you're at his house at this point, you're about to say what's on your mind.

"FIRST of all, I'm nobody's bitch. Second, Boy you are not responsible for me. Nigga, you ain't my daddy. You make it seem like I'm just a job, not your girlfriend. You know what...Miles WARNED me about you and I should've listene-"

You said, before getting so rudely cut off by the dreadhead in front of you. To be honest, you probably just fell for the height and hair. (Because if a 6 foot dreadhead walked up to you, you would take the opportunity too. Don't lie.)

"There you go, always talking about that nigga. 'Miles this, Miles that', since you wanna talk about him so bad why don't you just go be with him. But let me tell you something, that'll be the biggest mistake of your life. Because, he don't want yo' ass anyway. I'm the best thing you'll ever ha-"

He's cut off by the sound of you grabbing your shoes, and purse, hopping off the bed. One thing your mama has always told you is 'If you disrespect yourself, you'll allow others to disrespect you' and you weren't about to sit up here and be disrespected.

Jaleel turned around in his chair and looked at you, puzzled.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm grabbing my stuff and leaving, I'm not about to let you talk to me like this. J, I deserve so much better and that's what I'm about to go get."

You said, walking to the door. You heard him stand up out of his gaming chair and run after you. With the controller still in his hand, he stood in front of you. Blocking the exit of his apartment.

"Wait, wait, wait. Bae, I'm sorry, ok? Maybe I took it far this time but, you know you're not gonna actually leave me, right?"

He chuckled out, thinking this whole thing was a joke. Little did he know you weren't playing.

"Look, you can be delusional if you want to but I'm done."

You say, pushing past him and walking out the door. You heard faint sounds of Jaleel cursing in the background. You honestly weren't paying attention, there was just so much going through your head. You honestly couldn't believe that you just did that. You just kept your head down, continuing to walk down the hallway of the apartment complex. You felt tears well up in your eyes, not from sadness, but pure rage. You couldn't even believe that you stuck around for that long. How could you do that to yourself? Did he ever really care about you? Was he being egotistical? Was he right about you wanting to get with Miles? What are you gonna tell your mo-

You heard a little thump from your shirt rubbing against someone's jacket, dragging you out of your train of thought. You must have accidentally bumped into someone on your walk home.

"I'm sorry"

You said with a slightly congested, scratchy voice since you were just crying. Before looking up to see who it was, you recognized the Jordans and shadow of a tall, sort of lanky boy with a taper fade. Apparently he recognized you too.

"Y/N? Mami, why are you crying? Where's your jacket, you must be freezing!"

He said, pulling you into his embrace in the cold weather, wiping the tears from your eyes.

"Voy a matar a quien te haya hecho esto."

He muttered under his breath, still embracing you as he lead you to his home.

"I was just at Ja-"

"Shhh, you can tell me about it when we're inside so that you're warm and safe, Cariño."

He said as he continued speed walking the streets of Brooklyn, New York, with you wrapped in his warmth. He wanted to get to his apartment as soon as possible to make sure you're ok, you took note of that. Jaleel was wrong about a lot of things, but maybe he was right about this. Maybe you do wanna be with Miles...?

Some random modern HotD headcanons :)

Hey y’all! So I kept thinking of some funny, and very specific headcanons for the HotD characters, so I decided to just make it a whole post. This will actually be my first “legit” post on here, lol! Anyways, this will include some headcanons about Aemond, Aegon II, Luke, Jace, Daemon, Rhaenyra, Helaena, etc. But hope y’all enjoy lol! :)

Ok, I am convinced that Aemond has a secret stash of tea hidden somewhere. He's even put them all in a very nice ornate, antique box. It's his guilty pleasure. He probably would have some Earl Gray, English Breakfast, maybe even some lavender mint for the evenings. He'd keep it secret because all the teas he's gotten are way too expensive, and special.

Luke is an avid Minecraft gamer. Like he's basically built Dragonstone, and the Red Keep in his server. He'll play sometimes with Jace, or maybe even Aegon. But he doesn't let them into that world. Aegon would probably blow it all up with TnT.

Speaking of gaming, I think some people are on the same page that Aegon would be some kind of gamer. He'd be up to date on all the new systems and gadgets. He'd be one of the firsts to have the PS5 when it came out. He probably plays a lot of Call of Duty. Maybe even some Valorant when he doesn't wanna fire up the PS. He'd definitely be cursing and yelling at the game, to the point where Alicent threatens to take it away.

While Rhaenyra watches her shows, House Wives, Rupaul's Drag Race, etc. Daemon pretends to be not interested, but really he's super invested. He'd be leaning against the couch, or the wall totally sucked in. And when Rhaenyra tells him to just sit down and watch with her, he's all like, "no no I don't even like this show". But then he'd say things like, "Well maybe if her gown was better made she wouldn't have been eliminated last episode".

Aegon gives me frat boy energy. And I know I'm not the first to say that lol. You already know he's planning all the parties, and picking the themes. I like to think he'd be very invested into picking the themes. They would be things like, dragon night, wear your fave dragon scale colors. Or something like, Dragonstone beach night, wear your swim suits and flip flops.

Alicent likes to knit. Or maybe crochet? It's her stress reliever activity after dealing with Aegon, and the rest of the boys. Helaena is always giving her new patterns or designs to try.

I think Alicent also likes to take the occasional Buzzfeed quiz. "If you were a cake flavor, here's what you'd be based on your star sign".

Helaena runs a very successful tik tok account. She'd post her outfits, and maybe some art or cool bugs she's found.

Aegon listens to a lot of Megan Thee Stallion and Kim Petras. He's blasting Kim Petras' Treat me like a Slut at least 5 times a day. He gets ready to it in the morning.

Aemond will get down to some Amy Winehouse.

Jace works at the local animal shelter as his summer job. He only got the job cause Rhaenyra said he needed to get out of the house. Plus Helaena also works there, so she helped him get hired.

Aemond would be a great bartender. Not with like actually interacting with customers, but he can make some great drinks. Like he's over here coming up with all these crazy cocktails. Although, like his tea obsession he keeps this on the low. He doesn't want Aegon asking him to make drinks all the time. Gods forbid he asks Aemond to bartend at one of the frat parties.

Helaena was a Monster High girl growing up.

Aemond has a motorcycle. It was his one rebellious purchase. Alicent hates it.

Luke can kick Aegon's ass in any game, video or otherwise. You name it, Call of Duty, UNO, Valorent, Go fish...

Rhaenyra has a bit of a sweet tooth, but she has to hide her candy stash, cause the boys will steal it in a heartbeat. Who would have thought Daemon would love lemon drops so much.

I really could go on forever, these are just too fun to write. But I'll leave it here for now lol.

i did it!!! after 62 hours (162 in total), i completed new game+ in ultra hard!! wow, i didn't think I was going to be able to do it cus of what I had been hearing about it (plus i thought the game in normal was way harder than zero dawn in normal), but well, it's been done!!! and i'm really proud that i did it without using any of the legendary weapons. i didn't really wanna use them cus upgrading them was gonna be such a hassle (ESPECIALLY in ultra hard are you kidding me) and it uses so many sludges that i would rather keep for my new favorite weapon which got me through this ultra hard mode...the spike thrower!!! <3

i don't ever bother with "ultra hard" modes or 100%ing achievements, but i love the horizon games so much that i just can't help myself. overall i enjoyed this second playthrough just as much as the first one. knowing what was coming and being able to appreciate the cutscenes while recognizing the songs that would play from the OST (LIKE HELLO TILDA SAYING "YES, A SECOND CHANCE TO DO WHAT'S RIGHT" TO ALOY TWICE AND--OMG--THAT'S THE NAME OF THE SONG FOR THE FINAL BATTLE ALSDKJFLASDJFSDF) just made me love the game even more.

anyway, more random junk thoughts below

first time through i really didn't see the whole tilda-being-evil coming. i mean the game hints at it right before leaving to the zenith base but i really liked her character (plus carrie-anne moss plays her, hello) and i was really wishing that she was helping aloy and her friends because she really wanted to make up for her past. PLUS when aloy tells her that lis regretted how things ended between them, how tilda reacts is so LASKJDFLASKJDFLASKJDF like IMAGINE tilda regretting for 1000 years how their last conversation ended and then aloy's like "yeah lis was sad about it too" like i would personally just go insane (well i guess tilda did actually lol). so in the end when she reveals she actually just wants aloy i was like damn...why are u like this. oh well...thanks for saving aloy from the zeniths even if it was for a super selfish purpose i guess. ;(

THEN AGAIN i also totally missed the implied relationship between tilda and lis until aloy spelled it out for me. i was seriously like WAIT WHAT, I thought they were just seriously gals being pals!!!! so i mean i am not the brightest at picking up hints, so i certainly wasn't gonna pick up on the fact that tilda was going to be, in fact, evil and not doing it out of the pure goodness of her heart.

why did they make erend's dialogue to the zenith base so whiny. i was like omg erend plz stop. especially the part where he's like "you know, there's one thing i'm gonna regret about all of this" and i was like oh crap something deep is coming and even aloy's "what is it" sounded annoyed, so when erend says "all this climbing we had to do" i was like sir....please. you're not helping.

i love sylens's character so much. i swear every cutscene he was in i would just have the goofiest grin on my face. the way he expresses himself is just so damn entertaining to listen to. the banter and remarks between him and aloy are just the best. when sylens finally arrives at the base and teases aloy about the company she keeps, "are you going to actually ask a question or are you still playing catch-up", "stop waxing useless nostalgia and get back to the task at hand", like oh my god i think next time i play (once i FINALLY get a ps5) i'm going to have to record my favorite cutscenes/lines of him. i loved how aloy actually ASKS him to stay since they could really use his help against nemesis and then HE DOES STAY ALKDSJFLASKJDFLJAS hell yes!!! no i do NOT ship them like some people do but i REALLY love their....weird-ass-friendship-or-whatever-the-hell-they-got-going-on and i'm so glad we'll get to see more of sylens!!!

alva is hands down my favorite character from the second game (silga is close but alas she's just a sidequest character ;( ). like holy crap her voice actress really did such a fantastic job at making her so damn adorable, charming, and relatable. i would always look forward to any new interactions with her back at the base, and it's so cute how protective aloy is of her whenever you're on a mission with alva since she knows alva is not exactly a fighter. if alva didn't already have a gf i'd definitely be on the aloyxalva ship.

also i realized alva's theme song is "The Eye that Reveals" and just ugh that just made me love her character even more because that's one of my favorite songs from the OST even though it's so short alsdkjflsdkjflaskjdf 😭

although i'm extremely sad that talanah and petra didn't have more involvement in the main plot, i'm glad they at least didn't get the nil treatment. i honestly didn't even know he was in hfw until i finished the game and i started browsing the tag and saw people mentioning him. i was like WHAT the hell?? i avoided the racing game like the plague since i had zero interest in it so then there i went, racing with machines so i could watch the cutscene. i'm not a nil fan by any means but i was really curious as to how he would explain his change in career lol.

ultra hard mode in hfw was definitely harder than hzd ultra hard mode. despite this, i definitely died way less than when i played it in normal mode (i like to think i improved lol). the purple-level spike thrower became a must against any big machine cus i mean, that thing can knock down ANYTHING, even specter prime!! plus the explosive ones do some incredible damage. really glad i discovered its usefulness cus otherwise with just a normal bow+arrow i would have been done for, especially since they nerfed the ropecaster so much in this game.

i was doing most of the sidequests+errands in new game+ cus i thought there was going to be more use for the campion's tokens but...i got all the weapons, dyes, and face paints and still have like 30+ tokens with me PLUS i didn't do like 5 or so sidequests+errands so there's still definitely more i could get but...it looks like they give you more than you really need...

anyway, enough babbling about hfw for now. time to put this game to rest until dlc comes out. i'm kind of anxious at how the third game will wrap things up--for the second game i was really looking forward to it, but for this one i'm scared that they'll screw it up. oh well, hopefully the dlc for forbidden west will be just as amazing and fulfilling as frozen wilds was!!

day 6 of 31 days of christmas with ydale

“ooookay! let’s wrap it up folks, we’re done with our work. wooohooo!” your group leader, yeji, celebrated.

“FINALLY!” jeongin stretched from sitting for about 5 hours of working on the project plus 8 hours from class.

all you did was dug your face of the table as a small thud occupied the whole room. “my gosh, i thought this was never gonna end.” yeji patted your head while jeongin cleaned the table.

“hey it’s okay now. we’re done, at least we got through it.” you looked up and gave her your puppy eyes. you adored yeji so much because of this reason, she’s sweet and always cheers you up. you weren’t necessarily really close with her before the project but you were mutuals, now you feel like you’re one of her besties.

you laid on yeji’s bed and cuddled one of her stuff toys, you looked at the empty ceiling and sighed.

“damn, it’s already almost midnight?” jeongin pointed at the clock and yes, it’s almost midnight.

“oh shizzle, i need to get home.” you stood up quickly and packed your bags. you were about to zip you bag when you noticed that you were missing something. “uh, hey girls, did you see my jacket?” you asked them.

they both looked at you, “no.” they both said. and with that, your palm met your face from disappointment as you sighed, you faced them and frowned.

“i think i left my jacket in class.” you pouted. you tried not to panic because it’s just a jacket and you can just borrow one from yeji. but you worried that someone might’ve took it and that jacket isn’t yours, it belongs to your brother seungmin and he will for sure get mad if you lost his most expensive jacket.

“you can just borrow one of my jacket until you get back yours.” yeji walked to her closet and took out a fluffy warm tan jacket. you second guessed on taking it but you needed it to get home since you’re just walking.

you pouted even more and took the tan jacket. “thanks a lot, yeji. i’ll bring it back tomorrow.” you shyly said.

yeji walked out of her bedroom while you and jeongin followed her. you saw yeji’s brother and your crush, hyunjin, in the living room playing with his ps5.

hyunjin noticed that the three of you are heading towards the entrance door when hyunjin spoke, “where are you going? it’s almost midnight and it’s snowing.” hyunjin set his headset and controller on the table.

yeji looked back and squinted, “they’re going home?” she was unsure on how she was going to answer her brother, well, of course you and jeongin needs to head home despite jeongin’s place is literally the apartment above yeji’s.

“y/n can stay.” hyunjin said and walked towards you. he rested his arms around your shoulder and lead you to the couch with him. he smirked at you while you were just dumbfounded.

“well how about me?” jeongin pouted, yeji just smacked his arms and jeongin let out a saw ‘ow’. “you literally live a floor above us and plus you’re a guy, you can kick ass. y/n can’t.” hyunjin said and rolled his eyes. yeji just gave jeongin a ‘i told you so’ look before walking out the apartment.

“hyunjin, i need to go home. my mom is going to look for me and i have a class tomorrow.” you said and took out his arms from you.

“i’m not gonna let you walk home with your short skirt and a thin long sleeve, you’re going to freeze outside.” you sighed and tilted your head back. “but my mom and my brot--”

“you can just tell your mom you’re sleeping over with yeji, i’m sure she wouldn’t mind. right, yeji?” hyunjin asked his sister, yeji just nodded while bidding jeongin her farewell.

“hyunjin, my parents don’t work like that. my parents are strict.” you said but instead of hyunjin letting you go, he pulled you towards him.

“if they were really strict they would’ve never let their daughter go here and stay until midnight. not let you wear a short skirt outside during winter.” he pulled you by your waist while he sat back on the couch. “i got you, i’ll tell seungmin that you’re here. he can convince your parents.”

you rolled your eyes. “and hey, if still insist on going home, it’s really cold outside and i’ll tell seungmin you don’t have his expensive jacket with you right now.” you glared at him and punched his shoulders.

“hey! that jacket stays between me and my brother.” you snarled and looked at yeji to help you. yeji just shook her head and raised her hands as if she can’t fight her brother from deciding for you. you just pouted and turned to face to tv.

“fine, you better bring me home first thing in the morning.”

“fine by me.”

It took me a while to get around to this because, you know, the orange ogre was defeated and will be forced out of office in just a few months, so this understandably flew under my radar but Bioware made a pretty big announcement. The motherf*ckers have finally admitted to a Mass Effect trilogy remaster! Man, i cannot begin to tell you how hype i am about this. F*cking Biden wins and then this? Bro, this is the happiest i have been sine i got a hold of FF7R. 2020 has bee a whole ass slog, bro. The Wuha. A F*cking civil rights movement. Constant police brutality on camera. F*cking 45 and his panicked cruelty. But this news? The tail end of the year so far? This sh*t has been alright.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will include all three games, with enhanced graphics, and 4K support. That last bit, the 4K? That’s absolutely delicious for me. I can imagine those enhancements, brilliantly displayed in all of 480 Mhz, 4K resolution my TV can muster. That sh*t is about to be glorious! I can’t wait to get back on the Normandy and flirt with Tali, sh*t talk with Garrus and Kasumi, romance the f*ck out of Liara, and buddy up to Jack. I miss my crew, man, and it feels good knowing i can have one more run with them, with updated graphics, and the complete story going forward. Plus,these thing will have even more enhancements when they make it to the PS5! I'm f*cking lousy with dope Mass Effect content next year and i love it! Speaking of dope Mass Effect content on the PS5, f*cking Bioware is working on new Mass Effect game, too! I’m less hype for that because, you know, Andromeda but whatever. If they nail the Legendary Edition, I'll give that sh*t a shot, too. My name is Smokey and this is one of my favorite franchises on the goddamn Citadel!

Tech & vidya ramblings pt 1

Making original posts? On Tumblr? In this day and age? What?

So I want to do a little cataloging, sue me. With the recent purchase of an Intel NUC, specifically the Crimson Canyon unit I’ve been taking a dive into my old ass Steam and GOG library, with detours into Battle.net and *shudder*, the Epic Games Store (hey, free Borderlands forced my hand). Oh and my Vita TV bit the dust -- bad HDMI port, bah.

NUCs (pronounced “nook”) are, by the way, these tiny desktops that Intel make with almost zero marketing that give you comparable laptop performance in a 4x4″ footprint. They get away with this size by having a bespoke single-board setup, and an external power brick. This product is for those who: want something like a laptop, but not a laptop; a Chromebox, but without the restrictions of ChromeOS; something with way more oomph than a Raspberry Pi or Intel Compute Stick, or those who find even m-ITX form factors on the big side. Gigabyte and ASUS also make the BRIX and Mini PC lines respectively that are the same kind of thing, but the pricing and availability on those (not to mention that they don’t seem to be updated as frequently with newer parts) in Canada are not so good. You could also get those off-lease mini desktops from Lenovo, HP and Dell from eBay, if you’re okay with second hand.

I wanted something with the ability to play games though, and this itty bitty thing packs a discrete Radeon that’s about on par with a GeForce 940MX or AMD’s own Vega 10 iGPU. This model also comes with an 8th gen U-series i3, which I’m going to be honest, I’m not super with thrilled with as dual-core computing, even with hyper threading in 2020 is a bit sketch but benchmarks aside, its handled productivity web apps and older gen AAA games, current eSports titles and possibly even emulation without any complaint. Oh and HDR10 4K video at 60fps through MPC? Yeah, it’ll do those fine too.

Honestly, for the $583 CDN total I paid for this (which includes tax and a 512gb stick of Adata SX8200 Pro for storage), I’m pretty darn happy. You could conceivably opt for a 5+ litre case and go with AMD’s Ryzen APUs for a tiny budget gaming setup, but sourcing those parts at the same price bracket was difficult (again, hello Canadian market and WFH/’Rona putting further strain on supply/demand). The NUCs start to make more sense when you factor in an equivalent bill of materials plus labour.

“But why would you get this when you could get a laptop?” you ask. Again, these things have equivalent performance to laptops, but occupy a different market segment. They’re replacing traditional tower desktops as computing miniaturizes and “good enough” performance can be had on small budgets for most people. Yeah, you could set your laptop up with a stand, a USB hub, monitor and peripherals, but I just find that clunky and I want my Chromebook unshackled.

“Are you sure you can’t build something as good if not better for around ~$600?” I’m pretty sure I cannot. You’re more than welcome to send me a shopping list though. Again, Canadian here. While space wasn’t a huge consideration for me, I’m also not working on a McMansion sized table, so any chance to free up real estate is much appreciated. I’m not so sure you could find a 4x4″ motherboard that easily, plus that would also come with the price premium SFF computing carries. Trying out a NUC began as a novelty, but now I can’t ever see myself going for something much bigger than a palm-sized unit.

“Aren’t NUCs bare bones kits? You end up paying for RAM and storage which brings the price up.” Yes, this is true for most NUCs, but mine came preconfigured to go (though I added an SSD). I’m not saying NUCs are this incredible price/performance proposition, but they really aren’t as bad as some think. Sure there’s a slight premium that you absorb by downsizing to this footprint (not to mention the Intel premium for their products), so that’s going to be an individual choice. Besides, don’t OEMs charge you exorbitant amounts anyway to upgrade storage and memory? At least you get the option to tinker and upgrade yourself with a NUC.

“Aren’t these just Mac Mini clones? Why should I get one of these instead of those?” Yes and no. You could probably put Hackintosh on these and turn it into a Mac Mini though? And obviously get a Mac Mini if you want real MacOS? They’re clones in the sense that Apple did the whole ultra SFF mini computer first (I think, don’t @ me), but here in PC Land, NUCs and similar products are where it’s at. Intel seem to be the most prolific at refreshing these with new parts in a dizzying assortment of configurations across a variety of price points. You wouldn’t know that though, because they hardly advertise these things to end users.

TL;DR get these if you want a super tiny PC that has a bit of customization going for it if you’re the DIY type. Get this one if you want something with some gaming legs, or better yet its “Islay Canyon” sibling with i5/i7s if you need more CPU oomph. Oh and if you were wondering, no, they aren’t exactly like Valve’s aborted Steam Machine concept, if only because most NUCs aren’t configured for gaming due to the historically crummy Intel iGPUs, but with managed expectations, or if you splash the cash and get their Hades and Ghost Canyon models, you can run a lot more than you might expect.

For myself though, I’m hoping Tiger Lake CPUs and beyond with Intel Xe graphics find their way into future NUCs so I can get below or at console-ish performance while retaining all the benefits of a tiny PC. Or if AMD steps it up with OEMs and makes a similar product with a Ryzen APU. That’s the way it’s playing out for me next gen, as the PS5 (well, consoles in general) is looking less and less appealing to me.

The motherf*ckers have finally admitted to a Mass Effect trilogy remaster! Man, i cannot begin to tell you how hype i am about this. F*cking Biden wins and then this? Bro, this is the happiest i have been sine i got a hold of FF7R. 2020 has bee a whole ass slog, bro. The Wuha. A F8cking civil rights movement. Constant police brutality on camera. F*cking 45 and his panicked cruelty. But this news? The tail end of the year so far? This sh*t has been alright.
