What's your opinion of the new fallout show?
I liked it! If you’re looking for something that harmonises really well with West Coast/New Vegas games you’re going to be disappointed, but honestly I was expecting worse. Has a lot of the same problems as Bethesda Fallout games in that it would probably work better set earlier - it’s strictly working within post-apocalyptic whereas west coast/new vegas stuff progressed from post-apoc to post-post-apoc.
That being said I think it also manages to play to a lot of Bethesda Fallout’s strengths (the Vault investigations were by far the highlight of the show, and also played to the writers’ strengths) and cuts down on some of the other bullshit. The ghoul concept was odd and just another contradictory image of ghouls on the one hand, but I also liked that the show depicted ferals with more pathos and sympathy than just “more baddies to shoot”.
I liked the characters overall, wish we got more of Moldaver though. Feels like there are a lot of dangling threads there though they might be developed more in a Season 2. Same with Dane’s character.
I’m going to be honest, while I don’t think it meshes well thematically with West Coast Fallout and especially New Vegas, I feel like some New Vegas fans are going a bit too conspiratorial with “Bethesda is trying to retcon New Vegas, Bethesda personally hates New Vegas and deliberately setting out to undermine it” kinda rhetoric. I feel like there were too many New Vegas references, especially at the end there, for that to be true, and I think that jokes aside the Todd Howard Is Out To Ruin Everything I Love thing can kinda end up overshadowing legitimate critique of how the show works within its setting.

it’s ur blog, I think you should go off on whoever you want! especially if they deserve it. plus you didn’t even go THAT hard… it wasn’t overdone or unnecessary or anything.
thank you! but i should not
PSA: if you're gonna make a post going off on someone. STOP! find one or more friends who are willing to discuss the topic with you. complain to them! is what you're saying a fair take? do they think its reasonable and deserving of a post? in fact, do you even still feel like posting after complaining to your friends, or have you got it out of your system? If you still want to post, what do you hope it accomplish? Will it hurt someone? these are all questions you need to ask before making your post.
it has saved me posting many a dumb post! i did not follow these steps earlier, and i think it was an unwise (though not catastrophic) decision.
If you want to be bitchy, find some friends to bitch with, but also friends who are willing to tell you to "woah rein it in buddy that's a bit far". i trust my friends to talk me outta making a bad post, and that has the benefit of really trusting them when they say something is a good idea to post.

A common thing in small towns is for someone you could swear in court you'd never met in your life to come up to you and talk to you like an old cherished friend. Apparently the person who did this to me today was my freshman high school English teacher and telling her the honest truth, which is that I don't write anymore and I'm a lot happier that way, was a mistake. I don't have social media, but my mom does, so she's gotten angry messages to send onward to me on behalf of the noble educator I have so deeply wounded.
Because, you see, my not writing is an insult to her, someone I haven't seen in six years. Someone who left so little impact on me that I don't recall her face is convinced that I must hate her if I'm not writing. I genuinely could not tell you what she looks like other than having auburn hair and I think her name begins with a D or G.
I don't know what teacher needs to hear this today but sometimes people change hobbies and it's not a sign they hate you or your class or anything related to you whatsoever. It just means they changed hobbies.
