Citroën Extr-Ami: will the Chevrons dare to wanton their electric chip?
Citroën Extr-Ami: will the Chevrons dare to wanton their electric chip?
What if the Citroën Ami freaked out by taking inspiration from the super-buggy project based on its clone, badged Opel? Auto-Moto did it! The Rocks-e Design Hack, a design competition organized by Opel last fall around the Rocks-e, recently gave birth to a totally crazy project from the creative talent of a German student. Lukas Wenzhöfer has thus become the proud father of the Opel Rocks…

Exspaining Spain: regions
Aragon (Aragón/Aragó)
Tumblr media
Aragon is divided into three provinces: Huesca, Teruel, and Zaragoza. The capital city is Zaragoza.
Tumblr media
Architecture
The traditional architecture of the region is Mudéjar style, which is based on technical and decorative elements derived from Islamic arts combined with the Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance styles. In Aragon, Mudéjar architecture adopted the Gothic style.
Tumblr media
Climate
The predominant climate type is the continental Mediterranean one, characterized by warm to hot summers and cold winters. Aragon alternates dry and wet years and has frequent and intense winds. The average temperature throughout the year is 13 °C (55.4 ºF).
Economy
The service and industrial sectors are the backbone of the economy, but agriculture is still relevant around the Ebro River. The most important crops are wheat, barley, rye, fruit, and grapes.
Tumblr media
The main industries are the Opel automotive plant, the mining of iron ore and coal, and electricity production.
Famous people
Alberto Zapater - soccer player
Benedict XIII - pope
Enrique Bunbury - singer
Eva Amaral - singer
Ferdinand II of Aragon - king
Francisco de Goya - painter
Jesús Moncada - writer
Luis Buñuel - filmmaker
Pablo Serrano - sculptor
Ramón J. Sender - writer
Santiago Ramón y Cajal - Nobel Prize in Medicine
Gastronomy
The Aragonese diet is based on lamb, beef, dairy products, ham, olive oil, rainbow trout, salmon, truffles and wild mushrooms, fruit, and wine. Typical dishes include ternasco (roast lamb), albóndigas de bacalao (cod meatballs), jamón de Teruel (Teruel ham), borage, cardoon, trenza de Almudévar (a braided pastry), guirlache (a type of nougat), and frutas de Aragón (candied fruits covered in chocolate).

History
1100 BCE - Urnfield culture
6th century BCE - Vascones, Suessetani, Sedetani, Iacetani, Ilergetes, and Celtiberians
3rd century BCE - Romans
5th century CE - Visigoth conquest

11-12th centuries - creation of the Crown of Aragon, which also controlled Sicily, Corsica, Sardinia, and Naples
1469 - marriage of Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella of Castile, which created the bases of modern-day Spain
1707 - abolishment of Aragonese fueros (a regional compilation of laws) and political structures
1982 - Statute of Autonomy
Languages
Spanish is the only official language, but Aragonese and Catalan are also spoken in the north and the east, respectively. Aragonese shares many traits with Catalan, such as Romance initial f- being preserved (filium > fillo vs. fill vs. hijo [son]) and Romance groups -lt- and -ct- resulting in -t- (factum > feito vs. fet vs. hecho [done]).
It has some traits that are different from both Catalan and Spanish, like Latin -b- being maintained in past imperfect endings (teneba, teniba vs. tenía vs. tenia) and Latin -ll- being kept as geminate /ll/. Catalan, Occitan, Spanish, and French have all influenced Aragonese vocabulary.
(Latin > Aragonese vs. Catalan vs. Spanish)
Monuments and landmarks
There are four UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Mudéjar Architecture of Aragon, Pyrénées - Mont Perdu (shared with France), Rock Art of the Mediterranean Basin on the Iberian Peninsula (shared with other regions of Spain), and Routes of Santiago de Compostela: Camino Francés and Routes of Northern Spain (shared with France and other regions of Spain).
Other landmarks include the Aljafería Palace (Zaragoza), the Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar (Zaragoza), the Lovers of Teruel Mausoleum (Teruel), and the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park (Huesca).

PSA Groupe is Bringing Free2Move Car-Sharing to Paris
Groupe PSA has confirmed the Paris launch of its carsharing service, which will be operated under the Free2Move brand, by the end of 2018. The fleet will initially include 500 Peugeot and Citroën electric vehicles, creating “the best customer experience” with a sustainable solution.
This new Free2Move Paris offer is part of the deployment of PSA’s Push to Pass strategic plan presented in April 2016, which aims to make Groupe PSA known as the preferred mobility provider.
Be free to choose cars, scooters or bikes. Be free to be different, to be green, to go without noise. Be free to rock. Be free to roll. Be free to share. Be Free2Move.
A post shared by Free2Move App (@free2moveapp) on Nov 14, 2017 at 9:02am PST
The Free2Move mobility brand, which launched in 2016, passed 1 million customers last month with a fleet of 65,000 vehicles deployed in more than 10 countries.
Appealing to millennials and other non-car owners, it demonstrated a sense of humor with its “Voulez-vous rouler avec moi?” come-on on its website homepage.
It’s actually been available in cities like Seattle ahead of its Parisian launch. Thanks to its experience in carsharing services deployed in different cities, including the emov service in Madrid with more than 180,000 users, Groupe PSA aims to become a global leader in sustainable mobility.
“After the launch of Free2Move App, we are providing Parisians with our know-how in urban mobility,” stated Brigitte Courtehoux, Member of the Executive Committee of Groupe PSA and Director of Mobility and Connectivity Services.
“It means a sustainable and high quality of electric car-sharing service. This is possible thanks to the good collaboration we have established with the Paris City Hall.”
Ecosystem not Egosystem. Couldn't agree more, the future is aggregated and easily accessible for customers. #futureoftransportation @Free2MoveApp @Free2Move pic.twitter.com/KFFcBrGGZl
— Inbal Cohen (@inbalsigal) June 19, 2018
Groupe PSA designs unique automotive experiences and delivers mobility solutions to meet all customer expectations around its five car brands—Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Opel and Vauxhall—and provides a wide array of mobility and smart services under the Free2Move brand.
Its ‘Push to Pass’ strategic plan represents a first step towards the achievement of the Group’s vision to be “a global carmaker with cutting-edge efficiency and a leading mobility provider sustaining lifetime customer relationships.”

Volkswagen T-Roc: A Late Charge into a Fast-Growing Segment
-
Volkswagen typically is not the first brand to pioneer new segments. Wolfsburg often prefers to study the segment, develop a product, and then try to conquer. So it’s no surprise that the Volkswagen T-Roc, the brand’s new subcompact crossover, is a bit late to the game.
-
Based on the MQB modular-transversal architecture, the new T-Roc is closely related to the Golf and the Audi A3, and it is available in its European home market with three gasoline engines (1.0-liter three-cylinder with 115 horsepower, 1.5-liter inline-four with 150 horsepower, and 2.0-liter four with 190 horsepower) and three TDI engines (a 115-hp 1.6-liter four, and a 2.0-liter with 150 or 190 horsepower). The T-Roc can be had with front- or all-wheel drive and a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. No hybrid or electric version is planned at the moment.
-
-
The T-Roc may well be the sportiest SUV in its class: There are several driving modes which sharpen its responses, and VW even offers progressive steering, taken straight from the GTI.
-
Now that the Piëch era is over, Volkswagen isn’t attempting to be a Mercedes competitor anymore, as is clear from a peek at the T-Roc’s interior. There is quite a bit of hard plastic; don’t expect soft, padded surfaces. Instead, VW chose to spend the money on colorful trim and a large touchscreen. That’s probably the right approach, given the youthful demographic the T-Roc is aiming for.
-
-
The exterior resembles the original T-Roc concept, a two-door targa that was unveiled at the 2014 Geneva auto show. The production car shares its proportions and many details, including the chrome bar surrounding the side windows, an element that has since appeared on the Jeep Compass and the concepts from Volvo’s Chinese sister brand Lynk & Co. The somewhat coupe-like appearance is emphasized by a sloping rear end, and Volkswagen offers the choice of a contrasting roof in multiple colors.

-
Although the T-Roc is aimed squarely at the Opel Mokka—the Buick Encore’s twin—it’s not currently slated to come to the United States. “We haven’t decided yet,” says VW brand chief Herbert Diess, but we believe that chances are slim; while we will be seeing a VW subcompact crossover in the States, it probably won’t be the T-Roc that you see here. But we think Volkswagen should give it a try—even if they aren’t first.
