Say hello to Cole! Ninja of the nightshade.

They say real flowers grow from him, so why don’t you take a step closer? He doesn’t mean any harm, he’s just a pretty little flower.

I designed him partly off of a deadly nightshade flower, giving him a lot of purples and some golds.

I switched the hat out for some wreathes around his horns, and gave some of the pieces a more feather or petal like feel to them.

The potions contain earthly essence, with a hint of something more. . . Poisonous.

He has the emblem of the crow on his shoulder, but he does not intend your demise. Come, sit with him, let him warm you with his words.

Why don’t you take a petal, they’re said to be magic if consumed. . .

changeling cole au. hear me out

oni cole was pretty popular, we all know about that, but when i first came up with this au i also had fae on the mind for oc purposes and thought like. hey no one's stopping me from adding fae lore to ninjago

so! the basis of the au. cole is a changeling that doesn't know he's a changeling. his human counterpart was taken as a baby and left in the oni realm for whatever purpose oni have to kidnap and raise a human baby. at some point, he escaped the oni and survived in the oni wilds for a while, until the portal to ninjago opened during s10.

the story starts after s10 ends, where cole asks wu how he could have possibly survived the oni smog. only oni could breathe it in, and it would have turned him to stone within seconds of him breathing it in. wu thinks about this and offers to give him a special tea that reveals one's true nature, in case there's something more hidden to cole's nature. he accepts.

drinking the tea reveals cole's oni form, which he obviously didn't know about beforehand. he (understandably) freaks out and the rest of the ninja comfort him. wu confirms that cole is a changeling after asking if he's allergic to iron (which he is), something only present in changelings versus pure oni.

the ninja all get used to cole being an oni. accommodations are made, cole and lloyd bond over being oni, and wu gives them basic shapeshifting tips and ways to hide their new appearances

a little doodle of he :) [note: yes i know his gi is tied the wrong way it's symbolic of his undeath]

so flash forward maybe a week, cole's still getting used to his oni form and nature. he hasn't told anyone other than the ninja and wu (i wanna think garmadon knows but doesn't do anything about it). the portal to the oni realm is closed, and the only remaining oni (that they know of) are wu, lloyd, garm, and cole.

then, coal finally finds ninjago city.

and yes. i named him coal. because someone on discord suggested it and i thought it was the funniest fucking thing ever.

quick doodles of oni!cole and coal for comparison (they look identical aside from coal having more of a beard and a different hairstyle)

so anywayz coal comes to ninjago to see his changeling on the news being heralded as a hero. he grows bitter and angry that cole is stealing what should have been his life and decides to get revenge.

he confronts the ninja, asking for cole, to defeat and/or kill him, whatever happens. the ninja fight him off for a bit until cole arrives and they face off one on one. coal ends up defeating cole, but spares his life, stating that he should quit while he's still alive (the guy's undead but w/e)

coal manages to find where lou lives and breaks in. he loots around looking for evidence on cole's oni nature, but gets caught by lou. he thinks that coal is cole and welcomes him inside, since cole hasn't visited in a while. here, coal learns how much lou (and lilly) love (and loved) cole, how good he had it, and how good he could have had it.

the middle of this au i barely have anything for fgkjhfdkjg like yea it sure does exist. things happen.

but one thing that i Do know about is that through some set of circumstances, cole and coal are forced to work together, and have to learn about each other in the meanwhile. maybe they're handcuffed together by Someone? who fucking knows

either way the two bond, and coal learns that cole had no idea he was a changeling until a week ago, and that he feels genuinely bad about replacing coal, despite not even remembering it. cole, in turn, learns that coal's just trying to find a place he belongs where he doesn't have to run and hide anymore, to be in a family.

the au concludes its main story with cole and coal making up and becoming friends. they figure out their differences and learn that the other has had it Real Rough and not at all like the other thought. so they make a deal - coal decides to live with lou, as long as cole visits his dad more.

one scene lives rent free in my brain. this is right after an emotional break with these two, and cole hugs coal and says "i've always wanted a brother," to which coal finally lets himself be vulnerable for the first time since being trapped in the oni realm. so now cole has a brother and coal has a family :)

okay so to elaborate on the oni Cole au I posted a few days ago

The general idea is that Cole is an oni who grew up in the first realm and he's not an elemental master. When the ninja and Faith are running away from the dragon hunters, they run into Cole at the beginning of oni territory and end up kidnapping bringing him along. They bond during this time and Cole goes with them back to Ninjago (there's obviously a lot more to it than that, but it's too much to put in this post for now.) He helps them deal with Garmadon and ends up joining the team, but the real plot comes in MotO, when the oni invade and he sees his dad in the army

Now before I go into WHY I made DILF Oni Cole and why he’s in LMK, I’m gonna go into the au I invented in my head. under the cut haha bc its... a lot

This AU takes place a few decades since the beginning of the ninjago series, the ninja are all retired. Jay and Nya have a family. Zane and Pixal run Borg Industries and are effectively the parents of all modern androids. Kai runs his own Dojo, and probably runs a smithy in a joint building. I can’‘t imagine him having kids, or starting a family. He visits the other ninja frequently and has a small family of employees at his dojo and smithy. Lloyd is still physically younger (being Oni/Dragon) and didn’t retire. He manages a new ninja team, taking Wu’s place as master while Wu is retired with his new tea shop.

Cole also ages slower than the rest of the ninja, because in this he’s also an Oni. I figure before the ninja settled down, but after they decided to retire, they did a world round trip, exploring different continents and whatnot. Cole ended up falling in love with the forests and mountains nearby Megapolis. He is visited monthly by the rest of the ninja, and calls them bi-monthly.

NOW.

Cole lives there, built his own cabin and became a bit of a lumberjack again. As an earth elemental he has a lot of outdoor furniture made of earth/rock/etc. He also creates statues as a hobby, fine tuning his powers while also working his creativity. He also makes place for rock climbing and goes on lots of hikes.

I also decided that it’s the same forest that surrounds Monkey King’s temple in that episode where MK tries learn focus.

So.... Monkeys! He feeds and talks to the monkeys. And oddly, after years of doing this, the monkeys actually entrust him to babysit and take care of the babies. So obviously this is where the DILF part comes in. He’s doing his part to Monkey society and raising generations of adorable little baby monkeys.

The Monkeys name him “Guardian”, for he guards the young and feeds the hungry.

Humans know him as several different Cryptids, but I haven’t really gone into details on how. He just never leaves the forest, and occasionally goes into the outskirts of town for supplies, and to use a payphone.

now. Why? I hear you ask. Why make this au? Why have you done this? Was it just to make Cole more of a Dilf than he already is? Is that it? Yeah kinda. Also I’m going to have Sun Wukong himself find him and imagine a 100,000 word slow burn roccshipping fic.

Cole can be the stubborn solid rocc to Wukong’s constantly rolling around pebble.

uuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhh I’m losing steam and have to get ready for work but he’s an uncle to MK after MK and Mei decide to investigate where Wukong is constantly disappearing to when he misses training. Turns out he found the forest cryptid aaaand- conversations with MK and Cole are very quiet mainly bc Cole is very quiet unless monkeys or kids are around, then his dad instincts kick in and he interacts with small creechur. It’s only after he learns MK is training to fight and basically be a hero that he offers MK a shred of his dad instinct and he helps with meditation and tells him to follow him rock climbing and spars and stuff.

“Sorry for not telling you earlier.” Cole says in lieu of a response, “I was still trying to figure it out for myself, but-“ he pulls his father’s hands away from his face and holds them, “You might want to sit down for this. It might take a while to explain everything.”

“I canceled all my plans for the week after I saw the news. I’ve got all the time in the world for you.”

Cole revels in the warmth that spreads through his chest.

Bruise is plaguing my mind and making me happy so imma talk about them now

Whenever one of or both of them are sad, Cole will give Jay tons of kisses all over

Oni Cole fluffy, Jay buries his face in the fluff

Lots and lots of hugs

Whenever they have their own rooms, Jay will move to Cole’s most nights

Besides when he was a ghost, Cole is very warm, and keeps Jay all nice and comfy

Jay will run at top speed at Cole and he’ll catch him

Very touchy with each other, Jay likes to run his hands through Cole’s hair and Cole (mostly when he’s an Oni) likes to rub his face over Jay’s face and chest like a cat
