Heya.
I’d like to state that I would certainly be a disappointment as a guru or spiritual practitioner. If you are Christian and wish to be more open Baha’i people learn from all world religions and are Christian similar to druidic practice. If I was Christian that would be where I would be if even just for the please toss my body in a hole at my house and be done with it... strange and legal funeral, only and specifically for Bahai I think. A Klingon rite haha. She, a Baha’i, was my best friend at 17 when I left the nest; spent 1-2 years smoking and drinking coffee all night at the Denny’s, she formed more of my current beliefs than did the first 14 years of my life as LDS and she has also influenced me later in life. Helped me become slightly less naive. She has a mosquito tattoo maybe because the existence of a entity as thoroughly irritating parasitic and useless says something about god and reality, it’s seems maybe anti-Daoism, she would ask as if you really feel kinship to Trump who has absolutely no human value and yet supposedly is just another us in a different washing machine at another time. Fierce human being and honestly a harder hitter than me spiritually. Has a deaf child which has given me a curiosity towards sense disabled people I've never been able to entertain. She is a writer/teacher hardcore punk. My wife in some other life where I didn’t leave rural Oregon. (Maybe, but definitely first soulmate)
Religion/spiritual studies follow definitely skip-able just leaving access if anyone wants to know.
I have an affinity to Shinto because it’s warm bubbly paganism without any specific carnal or violence worship. Modern Shinto is for me hayao miyasaki on the positives and mushishi on the destructive, it’s acceptable stories for children to learn how to coexist in a ecosystem and the scientist bits of me approve and there’s no doctrine which is why I am openly recommending it as it is entirely non hostile and about coexistence. Shinto does believe one obvious principle that Kami pervades all things like us in that radishes are essential of the same stuff. This feels like what I learned from shaman type journeys.
I fibbed before when I said I blame objects I did that specifically to elicit a response in opposition as I want you to be on the side of your stuff as you should want to protect sacred things and have that state of mind. That rare use of false manipulation was slightly premeditated, but it is a unusual thing for me and it was done intuitively. I like to believe stuff can have magic in it. I think the guru/teacher archetype is hard wired in all of us but my relationship to that part of me is not one trained to nor would recommend to others but for fun and enjoyment of being aliveness.
The original Kino’s Journey is a really interesting combination of Buddhism and what it is to go through living and dying and how to act ethically. Little bit like Starmaker(Olaf Stapleton) or maybe Star Trek but old school. The remake is decent additionally but i stan the original. I dislike the stodgyness of Buddhism and it seems like they washed their historical humanitarian abuse from what they claim is their origin, they also believe that abortion should not be allowed which if you believe that you can be warmer there than I feel about that. I do think they are a good thing for the world in a cognitive and modern compassionate sense. Similar to why I didn’t find to much interest it Aboriginal cultures I’ve gotten to know it’s often a old dude being traditional in a lot of cases. Every tribe is different though right.
I have weird feelings saying it, but I’m much into liberation of bonds and freedom of choice where your choices are within proper ethical standards of harm and kindness and I didn’t really realize it till my 30s how U.S. of an ideal this is. About Buddhism if you didn’t know rebirth doesn’t work the way most external parties believe of Buddhist reincarnation. Death means heaven or hell realms and what is reborn is the continuation of the causation that was your imprint or dharma and following your death that thread is continued by another entity and that is prev/next life connection. A different person. I don’t believe in heaven or hell but just the hum of matter becoming energy becoming matter again but I disbelieve more of my superstitions than I believe. I may discuss random superstitions later who knows but a lot of them are obviously caused by anecdotal patterns. (Synchronicity aka pattern match which the brain excels at)
It seemed necessary to write this, if you want faith or devotional sources I don’t currently practice those intentionally and don’t see it happening. I was into Krishna for a while, but I like worship through what is in my presence in a complete form. I like not knowing; that can be uncomfortable if you are used to faith. I think it’s mystifying and amazing that there are so many mysteries that seem to be agnostic as the only rational principle of access. I just know I’m ruled by magic of emotions and heart and the brain forges through in disregard. Curiosity and convincing yourself to try on belief is something I hope is of wider utility to the human experience. I do not believe doubt is bad for you and I feel no need to apologize if I have created it in you. Repeating the intro I’m not an answer guru nor plan to be I’m just another curious cat.
Safe Journeys

Okay but what the forbidden book titles? can't talk about books without letting us know what they are so we can yeet money at them
well over the last couple of weeks I’ve read:
“The Fox and the Hound” by Daniel P. Mannix. An enormously different story from the DIsney movie. This book is by far the least anthropomorphic of the three books I’m listing here, and reads like a nature documentary put into prose. Definitely recommend it. It really sells the perspectives of both the fox and hound protagonists, especially how they rely upon scent over sight to survive.
“Sirius” by Olaf Stapleton. A speculative sci-fi story starring a german shepherd dog called Sirius who, through artificial hormonal intervention during his mother’s pregnancy, was born with the intellect of a human being. The story revolves around Sirius’ attempts to find his purpose in the world in spite of the fact that he can never truly belong. Humans have created a world that suits themselves, while he (lacking hands and the ability to speak clear english) cannot fully participate. And dogs are so beneath him, intellectually speaking, that he cannot form bonds with them either. Another one i recommend. Really brings up some interesting ethical questions.
“Tomorrow” by Damian Dibbon. A story about an immortal dog in search of his master. It’s easily the most anthropogenic of the three books (the protagonist is essentially a human in a dogs body), but it’s still sweet and provides a nice, easy read. It’s basically a novel version of Homeward Bound with more historical drama and fantasy elements included.

Building Dyson Spheres : an article by: GF Willmetts
Building Dyson Spheres : an article by: GF Willmetts
Freeman Dyson, based off Olaf Stapleton’s ‘Starmaker’ 1937 novel, proposed that an advanced civilisation needing more energy would build a shell around their star and beyond their homeplanet to take in all its energy. For the sake of names or labelling, we’ll keep to the recognised name here or ‘sphere’ or ‘shell’ as required to remind you of its shape. It isn’t just the star but also the planets…

2020 / Cine desde la pandemia: Last and First Men
Tumblr media
Tumblr media

Science Fiction Books Released Pre-WWII
This is a list of classic science fiction books released before Steve Rogers went into the ice (1945). They are books that Steve and Bucky potentially read before waking up in the 21st century. Books released after 1942 would likely not have been read by Steve or Bucky, as from 1943 they were in the USO or in active service, and in 1942 these would have been new-releases, and the boys were in basic training for much of the year, so there is a low likelihood that they would have read them. The purpose of the list is to highlight books and their cultural references that Steve (and Bucky) would already be familiar with in the 21st century.
Also, see the Science Fiction Books Released Post-WWII list — as well as the Classic Book Release lists from Pre-WWII and Post-WWII.
While not exhausted by any stretch, the list includes many best sellers, as well as books which contain popular cultural references or those with notable social commentary. Some stories included are those that appeared in pulp magazines before the war, but which were not published as books until later. If they read Astounding Stories magazine then that may have read these titles. Feel free to suggest other titles you think Steve or Bucky might have read — please include an explanation for the choice.

Watch television exhibits online
Below are all new and returning primetime shows anticipated to air during the 2018-19 television season (beginning with the summer season of 2018). The 1989 movie starred rick moranis as a professor whose experiments hold causing problems together with his household - particularly shrinking his children (and within the third film, himself). One among television's most life-affirming sitcoms, speechless heads to london for its first few episodes of season three as maya (minnie driver) pitches her dad (john cleese) on giving her a loan so she will get her house again.
In season two, life changes dramatically when samantha and darin give delivery to daughter tabitha stephens (performed by 5 infants that season and by twins erin and diane murphy starting in season three). Noelle is an unique christmas film from disney about santa's daughter, nicole, performed by anna kendrick (the movie was originally referred to as nicole). Premise: a hilarious comedy about what goes on behind the scenes of a sketch comedy show filmed at 30 rockefeller plaza (nbc's actual-life headquarters).
Howard silk (jk simmons)â is a cog in a seemingly innocuous unâ agency, who discovers that they are actuallyâ guarding a pathâ into a parallel dimension… already has a 2 season order of 10 episodes every. Patrick warburton stars asâ lemony snicket in netflix's adaptation of the lemony snicket novels, withâ neil patrick harris playingâ count olaf. Yet netflix's return to the dysfunctional world of the bluth household stands on its merits and is a worthy addition to the surreal humour of seasons one by way of three (sequence four, which had to work across the busy schedules of the forged, is disposable by comparison).
Alan ball pushed dramatic TV Show into uncharted territory together with his series about the fishers and their los angeles funeral house. It is a more stylish (and entertaining) lifetime film with great performances, particularly from the involved daughters performed by juno temple and julia garner. Nominally a comedic detective sequence, the show's originality got here from the electrifying chemistry between stars bruce willis and cybil shepherd, whose verbal jousting earned the duo, and the series, comparisons to howard hawkes comedies like his woman friday, or william powell and myrna loy of the skinny man series.
Pre-production tasks embrace storyboarding, construction of units, props, and costumes, casting guest stars, budgeting, buying resources like lighting, special results, stunts, etc. New comedy series from scrub's zach braff about a man who sets out to start up his own business. As an alternative, it is the house to many authentic net series and dc animated sequence that are a must watch.
Steven bochco made extra creative elbow room on network tv with ypd blue, which debuted amid "Viewer discretion" hype earlier than settling into what it was one of many last vital primetime cop collection. Peter krause stars, and jennifer love hewitt joins season 2. Sullivan stapleton stars on this crime drama centring on a lady with tattoos of crimes needing to be solved.

U.S. auto import probe fans tariff fears, riles Asia, Europe
(Reuters) – A U.S. threat that it may introduce tariffs on foreign auto imports drew strong criticism on Thursday from the country’s main business lobbying group, which warned of a “staggering” blow to the industry and the prospect of a global trade war.

President Donald Trump’s administration opened a trade investigation on Wednesday into whether vehicle imports had damaged the American auto industry. That could lead to tariffs of up to 25 percent on the same “national security” grounds used to impose U.S. steel and aluminum duties in March.
U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said on Thursday the investigation was still in its early stages but that other countries’ high, artificial barriers, such as tariffs and other interventions, have skewed the marketplace.
“Now it’s very difficult to get back to a reciprocal arrangement,” Ross said in an interview on CNBC, a day after announcing the probe, which could lead to new U.S. tariffs on imported vehicles.
The probe, launched under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, will look at whether vehicle and parts imports are threatening the industry’s health and ability to research and develop advanced technologies, Ross said on Wednesday.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce said it strongly opposes the move.
“If this proposal is carried out, it would deal a staggering blow to the very industry it purports to protect and would threaten to ignite a global trade war,” chamber President and Chief Executive Officer Thomas Donohue said in a statement. He urged the government to reverse course.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the U.S. move was based on flimsy logic and clearly linked to talks to modernize the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). NAFTA partner Canada is the largest exporter of auto products to the United States.
Germany’s DIHK Chambers of Industries and Commerce dismissed as farfetched the national security justification for a probe. “We almost have to take this as a provocation,” DIHK President Eric Schweitzer said.
Together German carmakers BMW (BMWG.DE), Daimler AG (DAIGn.DE) and Volkswagen AG control more than 90 percent of the North American premium auto market.
Tariffs would hit Germany particularly hard and shave 0.16 percent off the economic output of Europe’s largest economy, the influential Ifo think tank said. “No other country has higher absolute losses to fear than Germany,” said Gabriel Felbermayr, foreign trade expert at Ifo.
German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz said the European Union should be united in its response to the threat of U.S. tariffs.
The probe comes ahead of midterm elections in the United States in November that will determine whether Republican President Donald Trump’s party retains control of Congress. It is seen as part of Trump’s “America First” promise to win back manufacturing jobs lost to overseas competitors.
United Auto Workers President Dennis Williams said he supports Trump’s trade policies and his efforts to protect American workers from competition from low-wage countries.

But that did not mean the UAW was ready to support Republicans running for Congress in the midterms. “The Republican Congress and Senate, they have totally ignored the needs of working men and women in this country,” Williams said.
U.S. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch said possible auto tariffs are “deeply misguided,” and urged the administration “to remain focused on addressing China’s trade practices.”
Pointing to a mixed bag of effects on U.S. producers after the metals tariffs, analysts were cautious about predicting major gains for U.S. companies and workers from the process.
“Measures like this are ultimately about protecting American manufacturing jobs in states that voted for Trump rather than national security,” Morningstar analyst David Whiston said in a note.
“We don’t see these tariffs (if proposed) lasting forever and we think (they) will ultimately cost American jobs.”
Shares of General Motors Co (GM.N) rose 1.5 percent and Ford Motor Co (F.N) was up 1.7 percent in early afternoon trading.
In Europe, BMW (BMWG.DE) and Daimler (DAIGn.DE) shares dropped as much as 3.5 percent during the session, while Volkswagen AG (VOWG_p.DE) closed down 2.5 percent. Together the three automakers control more than 90 percent of the North American premium auto market.
Renault SA (RENA.PA), exposed to the U.S. market via its 43.4 percent stake in Nissan, fell as much as 2.1 percent. Europe’s auto sector index .SXAP lost 2 percent and was on track for its worst day in 10 months.
Higher tariffs could be particularly painful for Asian automakers, including Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T), Nissan Motor Co (7201.T), Honda Motor Co (7267.T) and Hyundai Motor Co (005380.KS), which count the United States as a key market. The probe sparked a broad sell-off in automakers’ shares across the region. [MKTS/GLOB]
Toyota dropped 3 percent and Honda slid 3.4 percent.
Toyota, which has 10 U.S. plants and 1,500 U.S. dealers, said in a statement that any tariffs “could hurt American jobs” and raise costs for consumers.
The governments of Japan, China and South Korea said they will monitor the situation, while Beijing, which is increasingly eyeing the United States as a potential market for its cars, added that it would defend its interests.
In addition to tariffs, Commerce Secretary Ross cited other non-tariff barriers such as standards, licensing and “all kinds of other games.”
“The stupidity is that we let ourselves get into this box of extremely low rates,” he told CNBC.
The United States imported 8.3 million vehicles in 2017 worth $192 billion, including 2.4 million from Mexico, 1.8 million from Canada, 1.7 million from Japan, 930,000 from South Korea and 500,000 from Germany, according to U.S. government statistics.
At the same time, the United States exported nearly 2 million vehicles worldwide worth $57 billion.
