The liturgical art of the ninth house is interesting to me

The other houses have things portraits of God in multiple aspects....

The Portraits of God decorated Abigail Pent's childhood bedroom, and Silas Octikiseron's sitting room.

But are never mentioned in Drearbur

The liturgical art of the ninth house is different. And i think the art choices are practical as well as astetic.

The ninth house gets the least light, and instead of cursing the dark...they learn of live in it. 2d portraits just won't have the same impact in low lights so they aren't treated with the same reverence.

The people of the ninth house is also the tomb guards. They are there to spot anything comming in or out of the tomb. They need security and intimidation to fulfill thier mission. The king Undying would only be a distraction.

Instead the litergical art forms of the ninth seem to be

Bone architecture.....its good creative outlet in the low light. It uses local materials. Fits the mood. It also allows the ninth house to maintain an elaborate labryth around all thier really important locations. They can navigate though there house and even weponize it at any turn. It's not just art....its a statigic containment plan.

Skull face painting....also good in low light because the high contrast white faces will be easier to see. The variation in the skull motifs provide a certian amount of satirical and personal expression. The process of applying the paint is probably a repetitive and meditative ritual. The face paint also works as camouflage against the bone architecture if someone broke into the ninth house. And it clearly also masks emotion to outsiders

Prayer beads....the assembly of prayer beads is more of an implied art. But I still consider the knuckle bone beads to be art. I imagine that the selection preparation of the knuckle bones, the weaving of the cord, the stringing and knotwork involved take a great deal of artistry. And the prayer beads function as a 3 dimensional art that requires no light to enjoy. The beads also function as the only musical instrument in the ninth house that we know of. There is no other music in the ninth...loud music would compromise security.

Soap making and other household crafts....I not sure this counts...but I am kind of obsessed with the ninth houses position of radical recycling. The ninth house is a house of pilgrims, but it's also a house that seams to try to draw as little as possible from the rest of the empire. They try to limit outside reliance and influence. They are trying to live as "off the grid" as is possible for one of the emperor's houses to be.

Some of this probably comes from the whole "Anastasia was a goth" and she picked the darkest place possible to make her home.

But I think that initial burst of goth attitude would not have survived for 10000 years if not for the environment with rewarded it.

We can see that there have been trends in the ninth house that never became intrenched traditions.

Mattius Nonius was an artist with a blade but his martial arts don't seam to be preserved into the present day. Aglamine wasn't teaching gudeon out of the secret scroll technique of Mattius Nonius.

Ortus's poetry, likewise seamed much better recived by the fith house then the ninth. Harrow remembers ortus's poetry (against her will) but she not promoting to other houses or trying to preserve it for her own.

I image that the ninth house has produced talented painters, weavers, dancers, singers, comic, and other artists. But the ninth house didn't preserve their innovations because those innovations would be a distraction from the mission.
