Been waiting for a moment to take some time to write something out about your writing and your portrayal and every time i sit down, the words just don't do it justice. I could tell you about how in awe I am at your ability to take a muse and write them unapologetically themselves while never shying away from the nuances of their character. Or maybe I could talk about how captivated I am whenever you post because I can't stop reading even when they aren't threads with me. I want to know what your muse is up to, what they like and dislike, what they struggle with and everything in between. you make it easy to follow along with your threads while still describing things in a way that is unique and doesn't stop the flow of your reply. everything i just said doesnt do how i feel about you any justice but long story short: i like seeing you on my dash <3

what do you think about my writing?

andy i have been staring at this for literal YEARS (okay, maybe a week. but still). truly, no bullshit, one hundred percent thought you didn't vibe with me and the way we do it in lucas land which makes no sense and is hilarious i guess but reading this was just ... jaw dropping to me??? i dunno i dunno. i struggle the most with writing when it comes to you and hunter because , while i feel like it should be two of the easiest people, my worry that i'll let yall down is 100% in the forefront of my mind waiting to drag me under lmao. So I'm publishing this and hanging onto it and being amazed every single time i read it from now until the rest of forever. I have always loved your writing - the way you manage to capture each individual muse's voice, the way you are so passionate about your original characters to the extent that i forget they don't come from some sort of canon media somewhere. Sorry to everyone else who uses Lee and Jennifer but I see them somehow on the dash and I'm just immediately like .. nah. I dunno who you're writing but that's archer and sera. sorry to break it to you. Seriously can't even follow those faceclaims now. It goes for all of your OCs honestly. You write threads in a way that sucks me in, makes me care about the plot even when its one that I have no involvement in .. and your love and excitement for your stories and your writing partners is something that can be so contagious. On top of that, your ability to world build is just about second to none. The stories you craft, the intricacies, the details and little nuances .. they all blend together to throw the reader into this crazy world that we never want to get pulled from. idk man. we've been through it these past seven, nine, twelve, eighty three, whatever the number is years. Im glad our friendship is still kicking and I'm glad this stupid site led to me meeting you. Seriously can't imagine life without you.

PAIRING —

Andy Barber x Black Reader

SUMMARY —

You get fired from your workplace of eleven years and Andy tries to comfort you.

WARNINGS —

Just good ol' fluff and angst, ignorant people doing ignorant things — yakwtfgo

It was midday when Andy received a text from you saying that you were on your way home from work. As far as he knows, your workday definitely does not end at twelve pm. Immediately, he called you and the conversation went as vague as he expected.

"Why are you going home, sweetheart? You okay?" He questions. You can't see him but you can tell that he has those crinkles in between his eyebrows that usually come with concern.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Do we have anything on our grocery list? I'm gonna stop by Walmart on the way home." He doesn't have a chance to answer before you cut him off, "Never mind, I'll just go to the house and grab it."

"Y/N —"

You hung up.

A day of shopping went by with you trying to take your mind off of what happened just hours before. Your boss of eleven years called you into his office, handed you a termination packet, a crappy explanation, and a company pen.

A pen.

"It has your name on it," He'd quipped.

As you now stand in your bathroom, twisting your hair into bantu knots, you wish you would've stabbed that motherfucker in the eye with that pen. You're absolutely taken aback by his audacity — it followed you throughout the day.

Even when your son came home from school and greeted you. You were in the kitchen at that point, aggressively stirring up some chicken soup — your comfort food. He gave you the weirdest look and retreated to his room.

During dinner (without Andy) you listened intently as your son recounted his day, trying to get your mind off of how much time you'd wasted in that company.

Now, you can hear the security system speak that the front door is open. Andy's home.

You try not to think about the packet you left on the bed — he has to know somehow and you don't want to say it out loud. Part of you feels he'll be disappointed in you.

When he enters the bathroom, the packet in hand and a thoughtful look on his face, you try not to let it faze you and get back to spraying leave in conditioner in your hair.

You can feel his stare burning into the side of your face.

You blink and meet his eye in the mirror, "I don't wanna talk about it."

"We have to talk about it." His voice is calmer than you thought it would be.

"No, Andy, we don't have to do anything — I, on the other hand, have to finish these bantu knots that I started way too late in the day. Should've done this tomorrow. Not like I have anything else to do —"

Andy scoffs, "Y/N, stop doing your hair for a minute and talk to me."

"What?" You question, beyond irritated, "What is there to possibly talk about? Huh? I wasn't good enough at my job and I lost it. There's not much else to it, Andy."

"Y/N —"

"No." You deadpan, slamming the bottle down on the granite counter top and turning to face your husband, "I gave eleven years of my life to that place. Just to get a letter of termination and a pen. A stupid pen? Is that what my life has come to? They could've had the decency to send me to fricking Jamaica or some shit — they're good for it."

Andy leans back against the wall and watches you as you rant.

"If I'm that replaceable, why the fuck didn't they just fire me ten years ago when they saw what a crap job I was doing?" You know you're a great employee but the rage is pouring off you in waves, "I was sacrificing my weekends with family to go to that bum place — for terrible fucking pay, mind you — and this is what they do? This is how they pay me back for wasting a decade of my life? I'm just so —" A frustrated groan finishes your statement.

"And I know you're disappointed in me. You're disappointed in the fact that I didn't work hard enough. I didn't fight hard enough. Well, fuck that. I'm fucking over it."

"Are you?"

"Yes, I'm over it." You reiterate.

Your husband knows you too well to think that you're over it. He counts down from five in his head.

Five..

Four..

Three..

Two..

One..

"Is it because I'm black?" You ask, suddenly.

Right on cue. Andy whistles lowly, proud of himself.

"Fucking hell," You scoff as if just realizing something, "I knew there was some shady shit when they took us to a damn plantation for a mixer and only asked me to bring food."

Your husband's head shoots up in surprise, "Wait, they did that? Why didn't you tell me?"

You shake your head, "I wasn't thinking too much of it. Plus, it was like six years ago — I was naive as hell."

Andy furrows his brows in thought, "What was the reason they gave for firing you?"

"My disruptive behavior. Apparently, they don't like when someone accidentally drops their stapler." Saying it out loud pissed you off even more.

"Those assholes." Andy comes to your defense, biting his bottom lip, irritated. Finally, he nods, "Okay. We'll sue for wrongful termination. I'll call someone in the morning so we can get this sorted out."

You pause for a moment, glad your husband is there to fight by you and defend you. A part of you is tempted to do just that — get a couple thousand from that hating ass job. But no, you don't even want to think about them anymore.

Begrudgingly, you shake your head, "Nah, baby, I just wanna wash my hands of them. I'll send out my resume in the morning and I'll probably take a couple more days to mope, but I don't wanna think about them anymore. Just the fact that I'm jobless."

"There's my girl," Andy jokes as he wraps his arms around you. Your hair is haphazard on your head seeing as you haven't finished the knots yet, but Andy doesn't care. He's obsessed with you either way. "And I'm not disappointed in you, Y/N. You're the best at what you do. Them letting you go is their loss and they'll definitely realize what they're missing out on when you're out there doing your own shit. We have enough in our savings to spare — you can start that restaurant you've been dreaming about."

"And you'll be my greeter when you're not putting criminals in jail?" You ask, sweetly, a bright smile growing on your face.

Andy pecks your glossed lips, "Wouldn't have it any other way." He taps your ass, "Now, how about I help you finish your hair, we can drink some hot cocoa, I can give you a massage. Plus, I can take tomorrow off, we can pull Y/S/N out of school and we can go on a hike to clear your mind."

You almost cry at how much Andy is willing to do for you.

"Ugh, how did I get so lucky?" You rest your hand on his chest, right where your name is tattooed and pull him down to kiss you.

He pulls away, slightly, his beautiful blue eyes lighting up with such joy and admiration, "I ask myself that everyday."

also oof i feel u and im sorry. i did find out a way to look for mods for iphone if u want but i know u said u dont feel very confident to try that so thats okay. have u been reading other stories to get more gems? u get 2 gems for each chapter completed plus a lil boost every 3 chapters, plus 15 when u finish a story. i recommend reading my two first loves to get gems because it has really short chapters (like 4min long) and is like... entertaining enough that u arent actively bored but also not enough that ur actually tempted to spend gems on THAT story. the only problem with using that story to mine for gems is that it has 100 chapters so it will take a long time to get the finished book boost, which is the one that comes the fastest

for that u can read The Freshman side stories (two chapters each, so ull get 15 gems really quickly) and Rules of Engagement 4 (thats 5 chapters). that way u can mine for gems the quickest way, i believe, but i havent played any of these stories (just looked up "choices shortest stories" lmao) so idk if they'll tempt u to spend gems in them. but thats a possibility to get the gems u need faster uwu

anne ways. ur so valid like cattywampus makes ava so happy its impossible not to adopt her shes such a sweetheart. and then ava says "nah, she plays tough but inside shes a lil love muffin" and andy goes "like you?" lmao CALLED OUT pls i love them. the way ava is all soft for that cat, i cant believe they didnt give us a single scene of ava playing with her 🔫 choices cmon

i hated this so fucking much bc my 2 am bitch-ass didnt want to read a recap thats probably longer than any slowburn out there

anyways here it is

also, uhhH sorry im using this as a end of session discussion bc that shit gets explained in her as well. and im not writing up more recaps of a recap so this is where im done for the day. (by done for the day i mean last nights session, im still doing a liveblog soon. i just wrote this yesterday)

What If This Character...? Episode 2: Dave Strider, Sans, Peacock, BLU Spy, King Dice, and Bubs

Now, we’ve already discussed Peacock on this blog, but as a dealer. I now realize this may have been a mistake; Peacock isn’t really patient enough for that sort of thing. So, without further ado...

What if

Dave Strider

Sans

and the BLU Spy

were all players at the Inventory,

King Dice

was a dealer, and

Bubs

was a bartender (and had dialogue)?

Playstyles:

Dave: Has little experience in Poker, but manages to play competently anyway (usually). Is the most honest player at the table, similar to Sam. Unlike Sam, however, he does sometimes tend to bluff, which he refers to as “trying to bullshit [his] way through the hand”.

Sans: Similar to Max’s random playstyle, only less due to an apparent lack of understanding the game and more because he simply doesn’t give a flip.

Peacock: Similar to Strong Bad’s reckless playstyle, albeit more due to impatience rather than a delusionally high ego.

Spy: The most competent and cautious player at the table. Being a master of deception, his tells are subtle and difficult to spot, making him good at bluffing.

Buy-Ins:

Dave: His 1/2-sword, usable by the Demoman

Sans: A replica of Papyrus’s cape/scarf, team-colored in TF2

Peacock: A replica of her top-hat

Spy: A fancy new revolver weapon (design of Valve’s choice)

Challenges:

Vs. King Dice: Once you have won all the other characters’ collateral, you will play a game of Texas Hold ‘Em against the dealer. The first time you win, he will reward you with a new weapon to use in TF2: A glove that acts like a pistol for the Scout and Engineer. The glove looks like Cuphead and Mugman’s gloves. You can select this challenge from the menu if you want to play against him again.

Beat the Bartender!: Face Bubs in any of the three card games. The first time you win, you’ll be rewarded with a little Sharktooth Bubs keychain that’ll dangle from your player character’s person in TF2. This mode will only be available from the menu if you beat Vs. King Dice the first time.

Poker Games:

Texas Hold ‘Em: The default Poker game for three Poker Night games now.

Black Jack: An interesting set-up that pits the players against the dealer. Try to get as close to a sum of 21 as you can with your cards. If you go over 21, you’re Busted.

Tripoli: This is actually three card games in one (hence its alternate name, Three In One). It starts with Hearts, shifts to Poker, and ends with Michigan Rummy.

Decor sets and effects:

Homestuck: The Inventory will resemble the meteor the Trolls played on, and that Dave and Rose ended up on for a few years. Dave’s outfit will change from his default white and red-sleeved shirt to his snazzy red Plush Tux. Those who are the first to be busted out are “escorted” away from the table by different characters from Homestuck. Dave, for example, might be chased away by hungry Nakadiles.

Undertale: The Inventory changes to resemble Grillby’s, and Bubs is even replaced by the soft-spoken Grillby himself. Sans’ jacket changes from blue to black, reflecting his monochromatic sprite in the battle screen. The first to be busted out in a tournament is sent away from the table by a different Undertale character. In Sans’ case, Papyrus drags him away to try a new spaghetti recipe he concocted, much to the shorter skeleton’s dismay.

Skullgirls: The Inventory will now resemble Lab 8, before its destruction. Peacock and her gang may get a little misty-eyed the first time they see it... Peacock’s outfit changes from her default dress to her “That’s All Folks” colors, her 8th palette, which is a reference to black-and-white cartoons. The first to be busted out is chased away from the table by one or two of Peacock’s goons. In Peacock’s case, however, she simply teleports away (via portable hole) and watches cartoons on a nearby tower of TVs.

Team Fortress: The interior of the Inventory now resembles a BLU base. The Spy’s costume change is simplest of all: he now wears a poker visor. That’s it. The first to be eliminated is chased away by another member of the BLU team, or in the Spy’s case, an intruding RED Pyro.

Cuphead: The Inventory is dressed up to look like the Devil’s Casino, undead patrons and all. Peacock’s appearance changes to more look like a Cuphead character (e.g. giving her the ol’ pie eyes). The first eliminated player will be chased away by one of the bosses from Cuphead, or in King Dice’s case, Cuphead and Mugman themselves. “Oh, applesauce, not again!”

Homestar Runner: The Inventory now looks like Club Technochocolate, and you can see various Homestar Runner characters partying in the background. Sans is now wearing a propeller cap similar to Homestar’s. The first to be busted out is forcibly escorted away from the table by Strong Mad, the club’s bouncer.

Sample dialogue:

Spy: So, let me see if I have this right: I’m playing Poker with an animate skeleton, a cyborg, and a time-traveler.

Sans: you’re on the right track so far.

Well, that was a messy af tribal but it worked! I mean after the hell I went through, voting rob, then voting Amanda, then voting daisy only to find out I was too late and had to stick with rob! Like wtf. And for daisy to go home on a 3-2-1-1-1 with 2 null votes. Like ok. And now we have a selfie olympics!!! This feeling around camp has been so strange and I'm not sure if it's because I won or just because every tribal isn't gonna be the same. I had more people talking to me for the first tribal like right after results were posted and serious game talk with the whole tribe. Yesterday night only Sam, Lily, Christine and Dan messaged me but we didn't even talk game. (Well I guess that's about the same amount of people, but like the conversations were less in depth like they were the first time.) I just feel aimless in this game and I don't really have a good strategy. I'm not even sure I want to make it far because it always gets ugly once you get far enough. Lily just solidified our alliance of 4 (Dan, me, Sam, and her) and I think it'll be easy enough to ride it out with them for a while. I'm wary because I don't have anyone I'm really close to (because these are people I usually don't play with!) so I kinda feel like I'm on the bottom. Lily and Dan seem to closest and I know in the past Sam will have multiple close allies and not necessarily stay loyal to one overall. Kelsey freaking randomly disappeared again! If anything I'd trust him a bunch because he's new and I can influence him more easily probably into giving me information and voting with me, but I can't do that with this weird continued activity/inactivity. Might he actually be a catfish? We will never know. Also!! Silly Gabby and Jonny having too much fun in One World last night. I knew Jonny was in Rakiura but that's basically it. Now I know they know each other irl probably thanks for the tea y'all!! (ricky, goodness, you have too many friends in this game since I'm pretty sure you know sara irl too with all these Washington/barista coincidences!)

Oh! Yeah I forgot to mention that I'm trying to get the tea about the loser place since unfortunately I did not lose. I'm not close to Veronica (as in I have not talked to her since Day 1) so I have low chances of finding out from her, but I talked to Billy last night and asked him to ask Chrissa about it. Though he said earlier how he's not close to Chrissa so I'll probably end up asking her myself! :/ Since I don't plan on going to loser place, I need to make friends with everyone who goes so they can give me all of their idols/advantages...or at least agree with me on how to use them!!

My allies are Rhea, Kait, and Darian (even if he did vote for me). I like Emma but I know she's probably upset about the first vote. Sam and Steven, you can go. I can try and bring in Andie and Amanda close to me, but it will be fishy to do it now. That's on my tribe. I like Jenn too, and Sam, and Shea <3. You never know in this game, I might go out, but I think my position in the tribe may increase? I can see it. I love Rhea so much. She's the purest cinnamon roll I've ever met. <3 100%

OKAY! So now that I actually have time, I've been talking to people on my tribe a lot more. I've been talking to Billy, Chrissa, Jonny and Gabby and they all are reasonable people. Whilst talking with them we talked about how Hunter is pretty inactive in the game and that we could look at him as a potential first boot from the tribe. The whole twist of us being in One World and only have individual immunity has kind of flipped the entire game on it's head. Usually, weaker members of the tribe are targeted because they're a liability but weaker players don't really matter as much this season because tribal immunity exists. Which means that people that are stronger in challenges may start to be targeted to give those weaker people a better chance at winning individual. Honestly, good job Ricky and Monty because I've never seen this before and it's kind of fun.

Well I didn't win the last challenge... My document glitched and I lost most of my pictures, but the fact that I would have won still keeps me going!

Kait is the best duo every she cuts the shit and gets right to the point and we murder everyone together its so fun. That being said I can't wait until i get to a point where i can work with my loves Luke and Dan. My, my, my. What a LOVELY week this has been. So currently, our tribe is back at it again with dat council swag. I didn't do well in immunity, like I knew I would. However, if anyone can win, I'm very glad Miss Moana SNATCHED the title. Last tribal council, I flopped. I was inactive and that's unacceptable so this week I'm really pushing myself to be a deciding factor force like Ariana Grande deciding to snatch weaves when she breathes. With my reputation currently, I don't think people really assume that I even have it in me to be strategic. Little do THEY know...they are wrong. AHAHAHAHAHAHHAA. Now, Seamus has informed me that the vote is Shea. However, Seamus is a GOOBER. Shea and I have really become close and the fact that Seamus literally pms me to vote Shea BEFORE asking me how I am shows his inner Kesha: his True Colours. I don't really like the fact that Seamus is just treating me like a free vote because I know what his intention. I already can smell that he wants to drag me as a cute, innocent vote until he makes the merge with his best friends and takes me out. THAT'S going to be a no zone. Although that is the persona I'm going for, I feel like Seamus already has suuuuch a big plan for getting to the end and...I'm not a part of that. And if you're going to count me out, henny, count on getting to stepping. Or something exotic like that, tee hee~! I feel really nervous for Shea. I told her that Seamus was wanting to eliminate her and she immediately almost spoiled everything. She's an emotional player and that's the kind of I want to keep around. The only other option is Veronica so for this week, I'm going to try and flip a few people to do so. The last vote was so unified that it's quite scary actually...if things keep going the way they are, I have no doubt that eventually it'll be my log chopped by the axe. My advantage for this week's vote is that no one really has a reason NOT to trust me. With Veronica, they KNOW she's a scrappy player. And I believe I can use that to my advantage. Y'all don't know me, y'all don't know what I've been through! And NO ONE is going to believe that cutesy little Arianator weeabo is pulling strings. I learned from my past Tumblr competitions that playing aggressively gets out fast. I know now playing passively gets you treated like a child. Here...everything has to be subtle. Small little touches, here and there. And if you do enough of that, maybe the trickle of water can erode the rock. That's what I'm hoping to do here. If somehow, we can do the impossible, not only will I establish myself as a real C.O.M.P.E.T.I.T.O.R in this tribe, but I'll have pulled off a blindside that's really shocking and game changing. Maybe it's a bit too early to be calling shots...but I've got to do something. I think people already have caught on to the fact that something's afoot and the alarms are already blaring.
