Via its mission: “What exactly is a tradition? It can be a shared experience established by a family and community to be sustained over time or part of a larger cultural expression, the origins of which may be lost to the past and distant spaces. Either way, our vast Southern California landscape claims many of these traditions as its own. Traditions pays homage to the many familial and cultural facets of our diverse region.”

Tumblr media
(“I Can Make You Dance” by The Perez Bros, 2023. Acrylic on paper.)
Within the “Traditions” exhibit, Anita was captivated by The Perez Bros and their newest painting titled “I Can Make You Dance.” The impressionist-style illustration with realistic qualities made it easy to picture myself within the crowd, dancing to the great tunes with lots friends & community members.
Tumblr media
(“Big Wonder - Luna” by Giorgiko, 2022. Acrylic and aerosol on fiberglass and steel coated in gloss enamel.)
This exhibit runs from December 2, 2023 through February 25, 2024 and is located in the Muzeo Main Gallery.
Tumblr media

The Mangrove Refuge (The Vorasane Family and Friends; Gandy Beach circa 1980) by Michael Vasquez was created for the 2023 edition of SHINE Mural Festival in St. Pete, Florida.
The artist’s statement about the mural-
A displaced Lao family (and friends) find refuge and a moment of reflection amidst the mangroves of Tampa Bay’s Gandy Beach.
A 1978 Datsun 280Z serves as a centerpiece and point of pride, fusing together car culture and masculinity. Similar aspects of clothing and style signal togetherness, emulation, and a shared sense of identity—yet their solitary gazes set them apart from one another and allude to a deeper and more personal past, present, and future…
Vasquez is currently part of the group show TRADITIONS: Honoring Heritage, Ritual and Family at Muzeo in Anaheim, California. The show is curated by Thinkspace and Tlaloc Studios and is on view until 2/25/24.

FACT SHEET: Biden-Harris Administration Ramps Up Actions to Counter Antisemitism on College Campuses and Protect Jewish Communities
On Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Biden-Harris Administration announced new measures to combat the surge in antisemitism in the United States following the October 7th attack on Israel by Hamas. President Biden delivered a speech at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum's Days of Remembrance commemoration, reiterating the commitment to the phrase "Never Again." This year’s remembrance came seven months after the attack, which led to an alarming rise in antisemitic incidents across the U.S., particularly during protests on college campuses. The Biden-Harris Administration’s National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism, launched a year ago, has already taken over 100 actions to address this issue, including providing greater security to Jewish institutions, updating Title VI guidance on discrimination, and supporting educational efforts around Jewish history. An additional $400 million was secured for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program to fund security for nonprofits and houses of worship. The Department of Education issued a new guidance letter to schools addressing antisemitic discrimination, while the Department of Homeland Security is developing new resources for campus safety and community-based violence prevention. These new measures aim to enhance safety and combat hate following the sharp rise in antisemitism since October 7th.

While Disneyland is undoubtedly a magical destination, there is so much more to Anaheim than meets the eye. Nestled in the heart of Orange County, Anaheim is a city filled with hidden gems, and one of the best ways to uncover them is by staying at a motel. In this ultimate guide, we will take you on a journey through Anaheim's hidden treasures, ensuring a memorable stay at a motel.
Location
Choosing the right motel is essential to make the most of your Anaheim experience. Look for a motel conveniently located near major attractions, such as Disneyland, Anaheim Convention Center, and Angel Stadium. This way, you'll save time on commuting and have more time to explore the city.
Comfortable Accommodations

Many motels in Anaheim offer clean and comfortable rooms equipped with all the essential amenities. Look for motels that provide cozy beds, spacious bathrooms, free Wi-Fi, and complimentary breakfast options. Some motels even have swimming pools and fitness centers, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Local Dining Delights
One of the joys of staying at a motel is the opportunity to discover local dining delights. Anaheim boasts a diverse culinary scene, with a variety of restaurants that cater to all tastes. Start your day with a hearty breakfast at a nearby diner, where you can savor classic American dishes and indulge in fluffy pancakes or crispy bacon. For lunch, head to the popular Anaheim Packing District, a food hall brimming with unique eateries serving everything from gourmet burgers to artisanal ice cream. In the evening, explore the city's vibrant neighborhoods and try out Mexican, Vietnamese, or Korean cuisine at local family-owned restaurants. Remember, the best culinary experiences often lie hidden in unexpected places!
Outdoor Adventures
Anaheim's pleasant year-round climate makes it ideal for outdoor activities. Discover the city's hidden natural gems by exploring its parks and trails. Pack a picnic and spend a leisurely afternoon at Yorba Regional Park, where you can enjoy picturesque lakeside views and indulge in outdoor recreational activities such as biking or fishing. Immerse yourself in Anaheim's creative spirit and discover the hidden treasures of its artistic landscape.
Exploring Beyond the Parks
While Disneyland is undeniably a major draw, don't limit your Anaheim adventure to just the theme parks. Use your motel as a base to explore the surrounding area. Visit Knott's Berry Farm, a beloved amusement park with thrilling rides and shows for all ages. Take a short drive to Newport Beach, where you can relax on the sandy shores, indulge in fresh seafood, and soak up the coastal atmosphere. If you're a sports fan, catch a baseball game at Angel Stadium and cheer for the home team alongside passionate fans. By venturing beyond the parks, you'll uncover the hidden gems that make Anaheim a truly remarkable destination.
Creating Lasting Memories

Unlocking Houdini’s Secrets at the Muzeo — Atomic Redhead
Unlocking Houdini’s Secrets at the Muzeo — Atomic Redhead
My dad was, and remains, a bizarrely interesting person, who decorates his home with not your typical items. A coffin lays in his living room, a mannequin dressed as Sherlock Holmes sits on a small loveseat, and draped over the arm is a straight jacket, some handcuffs, and hanging on the wall, a small antique… Unlocking Houdini’s Secrets at the Muzeo — Atomic Redhead

So I volunteered at Muzeo (a small museum a few streets away from Disneyland that is sponsored by them) and we had a Walt Disney exhibit. Here’s some pictures I took of some of the items they have! It’s all train themed because that’s the theme of the exhibit.
@jswatson-holmes since I know you love anything disney related!
Feel free to tag anybody else who would like to see this!
(If anyone has questions about any of the photos feel free to ask questions!!)
