So I'm curious: What is SHY? All I've heard about it is that it's a better version of Miraculous Ladybug.
So SHY is about a socially anxious girl who is chosen to be she superhero for her country. She has to learn to be a hero and discover herself as well as her powers.
Tumblr media
She has a guardian critter. (Shrimpy)
Tumblr media
The magical item used to turn her into her a hero is connected to her heart.
Tumblr media
Purple artifacts/magic is used to corrupt people via their emotions. Its very close to how akumas work.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But the process of defeating them is about processing those emotions so the rings can be removed, rather than just smashing the item. It's put into detail in the show, but it really is "Akumas if they were good"
It's not a 1-1 story in the slightest, it has a lot of interesting but it really does live up to that claim that it's ML but better. It has a lot of elements that would have been a positive alteration in ML, tho- like an international cast and a heroine who gets to learn about it and the mysteries of the world on-screen (as a new hero).
Tumblr media
Shy's design really hits that sweet spot on the appeal of Ladybug's design coulda shoulda had. She has little floppy ears on her hood and swoopy bits on her back to give the design some flow during action shots- while still being a superhero-esque fit. Even though she shows more skin than Ladybug does, she feels less sexualized overall. (Teru is 14 and Marinette is 13-14 as well.)
a fun comparison of similar poses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ultimately, Teru goes through steps that Marinette SHOULD have gone through, rather than be an ultra-confidant girlboss from the beginning who's anxious when the plot calls for it.
though, the appeal of ML is that it's.. uh, supposed... to be a duo sort of hero show. Shy doesn't have a catboy partner, just Shrimpy.
Tumblr media
Also, LOOK AT THEM
I rest my case

I was just about to send in an ask regarding Cavalli! I know that they're a popular designer/brand, but it's funny that they just designed a custom look for Gwen's Coachella set & here comes ML wearing the brand too. She & her stylist crack me up because their attempts to mimic G always pale in comparison. The funny part is that Gwen is a runway exclusive that was most likely sent to them by the brand, but ML is wearing off the rack. 😂😂😂 p.s. the creative director of Roberto Cavalli (Fausto Puglisi) adores Gwen and wrote the sweetest post after her Coachella set. https://www.instagram.com/p/C6HTLXDKldr/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Thank you!

TTEOTM vs. the Industry: Or Why it's much more than a TV show 📺
A very interesting Zhihu article from an anonymous industry insider responding to the question "is Till the End of the Moon worth watching?"
Tumblr media
TL;DR SUMMARY:
The author believes that we're at the crossroads of a new era of TV production. Otters Studio (TTEOTM's production company, a new player) is trying to make waves beyond the show itself by making big budget bets on innovative but risky content.
TTEOTM is full of production flaws, but Otter understands how to excite viewers, something that's been taken for granted. A team that would produce a perfect drama would never dare to touch TTEOTM and make it work.
Everyone in the industry desperately wants TTEOTM to fail. Because that would prove that sticking to a safe formula works. (For context, there's been a lot of internet activity trying to smear TTEOTM and take it down in China, most recently an email campaign to NRTA to get it censored and off air)
I decided to take the time to translate this because it brings home the point the need to embrace risk-taking and look beyond technical flaws to push the industry forward. It's long and I don't agree with everything said (think he's a bit harsh on the actors and other dramas), but I still think it's worth a read! Bolding is my own.
FULL TRANSLATION:
The decision to produce TTEOTM at such a high budget itself indicates aspirations that are beyond what ordinary viewers can understand. Let's talk about its strengths:
比如长月这种类型的剧非用这么高规格投资创作出来,本身说明了投资方的品味和执念都不是我们这类普通大众可以理解的。先说几点优点:
1. Dare to break through. This drama is not intended by its investors to be just like another xianxia. It contains a lot of innovative elements: character design, world view, values, plot development and logic, costume, special effects, which is refreshing. In the next few years, no matter how the drama performs, there will be continued discussion and comparison to TTEOTM. It is extremely risky to put such a big budget behind a piece of work that's trying to push boundaries in every way. Because it is beyond the comfort zone of viewers today.
On surface, Otter's first drama is a big production (but as you can see, there are issues with quality control). In reality, this production has an even more important mission: proving that an outside investor new to content production can break into the entertainment ecosystem with money, such as by openly inviting everyone to make OSTs, showing off its deep wallets (though you can see what the reception and quality of work has been). Otter's ambition is not to be a vehicle for actors or just another producer. It's also not trying to do what LBFAD did by building its brand with a repeatable IP-to-TV production process. Based on TTEOTM, I'm inclined to believe they are playing with something very new, something more ground-breaking. Right now they're still trying to figure it out, piece by piece, even though TTEOTM's final product is already quite remarkable.
2. Great for actors. Today's Chinese drama production has become obviously repetitive and formulaic. It's very difficult to give actors an opportunity to demonstrate their talents. Complex characters not only challenge our actors but risk impacting their reputation. There's massive risk in casting and censorship, so most investors play it safe. TTEOTM is different in this regard: in addition to TTJ, the FL is not silly, dumb, and sweet. She is clear-headed about her mission to kill the ML the entire time, which means there's no CP. The 2nd ML is stuck in a philosophical conflict of who he really is. The 2nd FL coldly announces, I don't love anyone but myself. In order to make these characters come alive, you need very strong character molding and understanding. For example, the FL has to demonstrate commitment to her mission as a character that's bounded by a tragic fate, but also show caution and love towards the ML. Or take the 2nd FL as an example. Even though she appears to be a bad person, she actually has a strong need for love and fear of loss, which is why she self destroys any hope to avoid tragedy in the end - this type of person is full of inner conflict.
The conflicting emotions and subtext are the biggest selling points of this drama, but sadly most actors don't quite deliver except the ML. The willingness to realize a screenplay like this indicates Otter is serious about testing its actors. This type of opportunity is rarer than giant pandas in an industry that prefers vanilla characters. But also because of this, we see that there are still big gaps in the younger generation of actors' ability to interpret the screenplay and perform. Overall, the third female lead's scenes are quite good. The ML's solos are also quite good. But there are issues with transitions (of course the director also has no standards when it comes to cinematography). The second female lead interprets her character well, but has acting issues. Won't comment on the others.
3. Super entertaining and discussion-worthy. Don't underestimate this. In today's TV production circle, most dramas are chasing after low risk, high quality output. Take the recently aired xianxias. These works are all living in comfort zone. You can't say they're bad, but it's also not clear what is good, and viewers are not that enthralled. TTEOTM is the opposite. It knows too well how to excite viewers. Putting aside the logic of the story, I would say this is the most audacious hand played in the last 5 years. It's super entertaining. Viewers definitely won't be able to tell what's good about it, other than that it's thrilling to watch. That's actually a very remarkable skill and one that is lost in today's entertainment industry. Otter can fix their production flaws over time through trial and error or by bringing in new collaborators, but it's not easy to figure out what the audience wants.
Actually, TTEOTM's production has so many problems, to the point that anyone in the industry can find an example to prove that it sucks. Screenplay, director, editing, OST, marketing, lighting, lens, makeup, sets, sound, aesthetics. But what you can't deny is this: a team that can produce a perfect drama could never make TTEOTM work.
Because without Otter taking this first step, they would never allow the battle between demons and god to go on for an hour. They'd never allow the ML & FL to not play the CP card. They'd never allow the ML to be a dark, psycho character. They'd never allow the 2nd FL to say she only cares for herself. They'd never embed a big budget fight scene in a fluffy xianxia drama.
On surface it seems that everyone's trying to take down the ML, but that's not it. The industry needs TTEOTM to flop. Because only its failure can prove that their current approach of playing it safe, sticking to the formula works. You can do the same thing over and over again. Suddenly someone tells you you need to push yourself with something new everyday? Well then I'll break your pot and tell everyone Otter has gotten the wrong read on the market. Look, Immortality has been banned. Look at the horrible casting of TTEOTM, your ML is too thin and injured. Every established player in the industry is trying to trip you over. The platform has given you the worst airing slot. Everyone is bashing the drama.
TTEOTM has invited so much drama, controversy, criticism outside the show itself, as though who cares if it's just a shitty drama by a small-time investor. The industry can tolerate all crap productions, but it cannot accommodate a new player that comes with sincerity and money.
Therefore, I am bullish on TTEOTM. I don't think this drama is created to promote the ML or to make money. Quite the opposite, I think we're at the crossroads of a new era. Otter is the Wandering Earth of the TV industry. They're both sore-eyed catfish that's making waves beyond the work itself.

Gale’s Top Ten: Least favorite episodes of Miraculous Ladybug (as of season 5)
With Season 5 finished and my posting of my top 10 favorite episodes, it’s time I crank the meter the other way. Now some rules
1. Like always this is my personal opinion, and if you liked these episodes, that’s great. I would love to hear your reasoning
2. I will be judging them SOLELY of what was shown in the episode, not by any leaks that came out before or after. I’m solely judging on what is seen and confirmed
3. Word of warning, I will be pretty vicious with my critiques. Also profanities will be thrown.
Now before I go into them, I should give some congratulations to some episodes no longer in my bottom 10
Captain Hardrock: You are still a lame episode, but not the worst you are actually decent in comparison to some of these.
Stormy weather 2.0: Clip shows still are awful, but there are worst things
Frozer: In the grand scheme of things this episode really wasn’t important and there are worst character writing
___________________________________________
10.Sole Crusher
Tumblr media
Revisiting this, it really isn’t a good episode for ML. I don’t know what was more Shoehorned in, Zoe’s character arc of replacing Chloé or the lucky charm.
It also makes little sense that Marinette would be the one pushing for Zoe considering her experience with Chloé and her family (especially after Season 5 revealed her trauma).
Now Zoe isn’t a bad character, but she will always be seen as the replacement Good bee, and she deserves better writing.
Honestly it could be argued Queen banana should be here, but that episode is too much of a s***post that I get more enjoyment out of it. This is trying to play this straight and it don’t feel right.
9. Qilin
Tumblr media
This episode has a some things going for it, great akuma design, decent action. But it also has a ton going against it. It’s in a series of episodes I like to call “Thomas’ gets political” and I will tell you this, he sucks at it.
I would try and explain further but I am aware I would butcher the topic, all that should be said is, racism tackled poorly and Marinette says she will pay for a ticket that her mother didn’t deserve to get in the first place.
Also the animation looks off in the episode, it just looks so bleh.
8. Migration
Tumblr media
Remember that whole reveal that Luka knows both Ladybug’s and chat noir’s identities and how he kept that to himself?
Well that FINALLY gets addressed. And are Ladybug and chat noir mad at him? No. No consequences for him.
The whole episode acts like he is such an important character but this is one of 2 episodes he’s in where he has more than 2 lines.
Then he gets to travel the world with his dad because monarch found out he knows.
Kagami got akumatized twice and she knew Ladybug’s identity, step up your game Luka.
Also the fake out with Rose was bulls*** and everyone knows it.
Also the entire episode had everyone but Luka lacking brain cells.
I don’t rank it lower because while it annoyed me greatly, there are worse offenders on the list.
7. Animaestro
Tumblr media
Astruc complains for 22 minutes that nobody cares about him anymore.
Also Marinette teams up with her bully which after watching Derision, WOULD BE THE LAST thing she would do.
This is the worst example of the Creator calling out the audience, There are other episodes like this but this one is the least entertaining. And if the ending of season 5 is concerned. “I’ve seen your writing, so I can FUCKING CRITIQUE IT YOU ARROGANT PIECE OF…”
Okay, I’m calm. Point being. It’s his call out the critics episode and it sucks
6. Furious Fu
Tumblr media
I HATE Su Han.
He is a worse version of Fu in every stretch of the imagination.
The episode where Su han shows up and starts making demands is stupid. The only thing he has going for him is his fighting style which he never teaches the two people that could have needed it!
The episode isn’t lower because despite Su Han’s impact, he really doesn’t do much and he is just there to be a nag later on. Also Fu’s akuma looks dope as hell and gave Fu some slack.
5. Feast
Tumblr media
So remember how Su han showed up in the last episode. Well he and all the other guardians were gone for over 100 years because they lost to a 4 Foot blue dog made by a hungry child.
This episode isn’t as bad as the others as a stand alone, but knowing the lore makes it sound so completely stupid. Like Fu was HAUNTED by his past and we find out it was because he was hungry when training and the guardians COULDNT handle that? All trained to fight miraculous users should they go rogue, couldn’t beat ONE DOG. The mysterious order is incompetent as heck.
It’s just so stupid. Also Fu was acting irrational af over all this didn’t help.
4.Reflekdoll
Tumblr media
I want everyone to know how massive this is, Reflekdoll is no longer my least favorite episode.
For anyone that follows me, my SEETHING hatred of this episode is well documented.
I won’t go on about how the tropes were horribly done or ignored, how off the banter was, or even how stupid everyone is this episode. Because I’ve discussed it in length.
I will simply say, Thank God there is Passion, so if people want a GOOD kwami swap episode they can watch that one.
3. Miracle Queen
Tumblr media
I’ve talked about this episode to death on here. But really the only flaws with it are the last half of the episode.
The drama of the first half is great. But the ass pull of a memory wipe, the clear degradation of Chloé’s character, and just the simple giving up of Hawkmoth, he could have easily still won if he pushed a bit longer. The ending was depressing but also a clear example of how the writers put themselves in a corner with no way out.
The only thing that makes it worse is Fu’s replacement (Su han) ends up being a worse teacher.
Also considering how they spent season 4 quickly getting Marinette and Adrien out of the relationships with the love rivals, even they realize it was a dumb call.
__________________________________________
2. Ephemeral
Tumblr media
Hey, let’s make an episode to explain why Adrien can NEVER know his father is the villain.
This episode is the go to justification of the writers on why Adrien will always be sidelined. It was also the unofficial reveal of the sentimonster theory before it was said pretty much outright in season 5.
The worst akuma design. Marinette gaslighting, gate keeping chat noir at its worst.
Gabriel wins and gets his wish.
And none of it mattered and no one remembers it except I think Sass. So it was pretty much pointless.
Not even the ladrien and cute reveal could save it.
And don’t even get me started on how pointless and avoidable it is.
It’s almost funny because despite how pointless this was, it’s still better than number 1.
1. Re-creation
Tumblr media
So many cool concepts, great designs. Marinette dropping a piano on Gabriel. So many great things. But it also had some flaws, like having Adrien sidelined, and the focus on heroes from the specials for practically no reason. But all of that could be forgivable if the ending lands…
It really shows how an AWFUL ending can fuck up everything.
Imagine having 5 seasons of fighting to stop a villain from getting the miraculous to make the wish only for him to WIN! Yes he wins. He gets to make the wish, you know the wish that was said should NEVER be used. Of all the stupid, asinine, Shark Jumping BULL SHIT. Who the fuck APPROVED THIS HORSE SHIT?!
So he gets his wish, and he gets a statue HONORING HIM. What the fuck? Adrien, who was ABUSED now sees his abuser as a hero and EVERYONE THAT KNOWS THE TRUTH IN HIS LIFE IS HIDING THE TRUTH FROM HIM. Nathalie, Marinette, Felix, Kagami. Even PLAGG!
And the whole utopia crap, everything is just perfect now, because the villain got what he wanted.
That’s a great lessons for kids! (Blatant Sarcasm)
But let’s really dig in, the ending left a LOT of things vague. And hilariously ALL OF THE POTENTIAL OUTCOMES ARE SHIT.
1. Emilie was revived and Nathalie got healed.
So Gabriel gets everything he wanted from the wish, justifying everything he did and he gets treated like a hero and another person hiding the truth from Adrien. Marinette knows everything that brought this about and is keeping that from Adrien, but is justified slightly because it could encourage Adrien to try and get his father back with a wish. Also brings up the question of who took Emile’s place.
2. Only Nathalie was healed.
Gabriel ended up with Emilie like he wanted, gets treated like a martyr, Adrien is technically an orphan, Marinette is knowingly lying to him about his father and Adrien continues to get Gaslit.
3. Emilie is revived, Nathalie is healed, and memories were altered
Gabriel’s wish basically shaped EVERYTHING how he wanted, meaning he is still in control of Adrien’s life even in death. Even his own wife. So while this removes Marinette covering for him intentionally, it just means Gabriel was so much worse.
4. Nathalie’s healed and memories altered
Gabriel gets to be with Emile and has shaped Adrien’s life even in death. Everyone basically puppeteer by him as he died. Sure he’s dead but he also retconned for his redemption, which is bullshit.
Now there are people that defend this ending/potential ending.
I’m sorry but, unless they revive Gabriel and he gets exposed, Adrien finds out the truth, and he gets held accountable for his actions. I can’t feasibly imagine this ending being good.
The writing staff aren’t going to do Anything about this, they are just going to move on to Lila as the main villain and say the Agreste plotline is over.
If they Do, do something, I’ll happily take back my words and alter my view of the episode but right now.
It’s one of the WORST season finale’s I’ve seen in my life.

i always get the craziest ads on pinterest so ive decided to collect a few of my favorites.
i basickly only use it to look at architecture and design stuff these days so some of it makes cents based on my interests i guess? like a 7000€ oven for example. or a grill for the same price. or how about some premium front panels fitted to your ikea kitchen that cost more than the entire rest of your belongings combined?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
like sure. yeah. algo sees me algo knows me. but it's so fascinating! like i always wonder why these guys even advertise online. and if whatever algorithm pinterest has really doesn't know that i'm just a broke student looking for inspiration for their sims builds. i mean by far the most common thing i see is designer furniture that's so exclusive you cant find prices for it anywhere. why would they advertise on pinterest AT ALL? dont you have a flagship pop-up store in st moritz or something? it's weird to think that there are people on pinterest in that sort of income bracket – the same pinterest where i collect my budget meal ideas and diy hacks 🤨
it gets weirder though. 1100€ whiteboard (324€ without the stand (serious architect's office vibes here)). 200€ doormat. (A DOORMAT!) and that last one is a 185€ brass light switch... 🫡
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
christmassy penhaligon's ads and 50€ underpance seem downright reasonable in comparison. except the pance guys also sell 15€ laundry the turgid in 240 ml bottles. that's 8 freedom ounces btw

After watching beyond evil, I was drew into this universe created by the drama and refused to leave. I am crazily seeking for more content around the characters, rewatch to capture more details, curious to know more about the MLs… it is a very unique experience for me and seems I am not alone.
I am wondering what set this drama apart? Why does BE has this strong psychological pull on the audience? Is it because the strong emotions yet revealed in a such reserved way that makes people wanting more? Is it because of the plot? The design of the characters? Really like your detailed analysis. Hope to see your view on this topic.
Firstly, thank you for your ask! I love talking about this show, so this is super cool for me.
Secondly, I’ve taken a few days to think through my answer because you gave me such wonderful questions, I wanted to reply with something worth your while.
Okay… WHERE TO START?!
Beyond Evil (Monster/괴물) is a show that ensnares its audiences and gives them a disease that is angrily, desperately, and affectionately named Beyond Evil Brainrot. Many of us on this website are victims of this disease. It is long-term and tends to affect the everyday lives of its victims.
[Grab a snack, make a drink, get comfortable and forgive my grammar mistakes.]
I can’t really talk about this show in an essay format today (my brain is fried), so I will give bullet points and explanations of why I think this show has such a “psychological pull” (as you brilliantly put it) on its audience.
The visuals!!  Beyond Evil’s cinemaphotographer, Jang Jong Kyung, and director Shim Na Yeon are a real dream team when creating a suspenseful and intimate atmosphere. Beyond Evil’s three signature visual motifs are:
Visually appealing cinematics
Unconventional blocking (i.e, actors' faces won't fully be in the frame, actors' backs to the camera, etc.)
Extreme closeups
Not only do these visual languages convey the tone of a thriller crime drama wonderfully, as it leaves the audience feeling on edge, but its main focus is to convey the emotions of our main two characters. Especially, the closeup shots. These shots encourage the audience to feel the intimacy of the scene; its gravity, intensity, and its importance. The actor’s face will take up the entire screen, so, all we are left to digest is the character’s words and emotions.
Tumblr media
It’s a powerful move that not all crime dramas use (it is usually reserved for Han Joo Won and Lee Dong Sik). The common motifs for the crime genre that I have seen in dramas (from Western and Eastern media) are darker lighting exposure, darker colour palette, night-time scenes, uncomfortable or liminal location settings, and grand or dramatic moments.
Tumblr media
Beyond Evil does utilise all of these visuals as well. However, what I find to be so appealing about Beyond Evil (in comparison) is how ordinary everything is. The main focus is Manyang and its small-town simplicities. The creators really pulled this off. Manyang feels tiny, it doesn’t look or feel like a financially well-off area and its people seem just like… normal human beings. They achieved this with brilliant location scouting, clever shot choices, and a colour palette (of the sets, clothes, and the post-edit).
Tumblr media
The small town/village "vibe" is created through these choices and it produces a town that feels very South Korean but also international. I know this town, I know these people. It goes beyond culture, whilst still honouring their culture.
Beyond Evil’s strength is its visual simplicity. It isn’t grand or luxurious; it’s beautifully mundane and intimate.
Visually, the show replicates how everyday people experience their lives so beautifully: not everything is pretty, most things are boring and mundane, and every now and then, everything can become so intense that the rest of the world falls away.
2. Complexities Okay, now let's get to the juicy part of the show: its storytelling and characters.  [This is quite a complex section that has a lot of moving parts, so I’ll try to be as concise as possible. I won’t go into as much detail as I possibly could as I’m trying to be conscious of how much I am rambling.]
A very simple summary of this show is it is complex. I’m not talking about the murder mystery, as (personally) I found that to be very obvious (I figured out who did the murders in episode 2) but it is the characters themselves and their relationships/lives that are complex.
[I'm going to break this up into little mini sections and then go into more detail about our two main sweet baby boys.]
Beyond Evil's scriptwriter, Kim Soo Jin and director, Sim Na Yeon, provide its audience with an array of characters that are multi-faceted, complex, flawed and so real. (Also due to the fact that they are both cis women, they tell the story through the female gaze.) Let's focus mainly on Han Joo Won and Lee Dong Sik, as they are the main characters and they are the most fully explored characters. But I must first say, the secondary characters in this show are bloody fantastic! They are human, they have their own shit going on, their own flaws, traumas, and quirks. The secondary characters are a joy and all of them really add something either to the plot or to the world-building. (hello?? Ji Hwa?? I love her. Ji Hoon? He scares me but I also want to be his friend. Jae Yi?? She can slap me any day. Jung Je? Let me hug him. Hyuk? Let me dissect him and love him forever. Gwang Young?? That man is smarter than he lets on and I want to gossip with him. Sang Bae? He loves Dong Sik like a son and I love that for him. Gil Goo? Well... hm, he needs a talking to but he was very nice to Jae Yi... and so on.)
Tumblr media
Anyway... Beyond Evil is a show that can be seen in two parts (I go into a bit more detail about this here): first viewing it is a murder mystery and on a second viewing, it is a love story. The creators don't just focus on romantic love but all the different kinds of love someone can have in their lives.
The way they do this is by focussing on these elements:
false perspectives, broken families and found family, morality, acceptance, trauma, and human connection.
We are shown these elements through Dong Sik and Joo Won getting to know and accept one another. These two men are so wonderfully complex and flawed. Their choices feel organic and represent the thought processes of two emotionally damaged people. They have both been through a lot, either because of people's actions or because of their own. They aren't always kind. They both have a temper but both are actually extremely good, gentle people, that are so in need of love. They both want love but struggle because of the trauma they experienced early on in their lives. Their story is so beautiful. They are two flawed people forced into a terrible situation and through their own mistakes (a lot of Joo Won's mistakes, let's be honest...), they face even more trauma. But instead of it pushing them apart, it brings them closer together. Lee Dong Sik has a community around him but he doesn't fully trust them, and he doesn't want to hurt them. He is a man that is on the edge of being suicidal. He clearly has some deep-seated mental health issues and is in need of extensive therapy. His life is in a rut, and he's just going through the motions- he's not really experiencing life to its fullest. Then Joo Won comes SMASHING through like a fucking thunderstorm and drenches Dong Sik's entire life with his being.
Tumblr media
Han Joo Won has two people in his life: his emotionally (maybe physically???) abusive and negligent father and his father's former employee and Joo Won's former tutor (but also his best friend) Kwon Hyuk. Joo Won doesn't have a community, he's emotionally stunted and literally doesn't recognise kindness or love when it's presented to him. (the emotional abuse he must have continuously faced growing up to make him this way... fuck. side note: I fully believe Joo Won has ASD also.) Joo Won is a purposely unkind person, who - despite appearances - doesn't have any of his shit together. Then Dong Sik brings Joo Won into his community (kicking and screaming and crying) and tells him that it's okay. He shows Joo Won that he doesn't have to be perfect, he doesn't have to have his shit together, he just has to be good and kind (which Joo Won is) and everyone will accept him.
Tumblr media
They both started the story unable to fully trust people. Both were afraid to let other people in. They purposely caused trouble for themselves and were as unlikable as possible for display, whilst keeping secrets and enduring dangerous situations by themselves. Until they grew to know one another, and then, by the end, they have no secrets (from each other) and trust one another completely. But they're far from perfect and actually need time apart to get over their relationship/shared history. But still, they have a bond that they don't have with anyone else. (Isn't that the purest and sweetest form of love? Acceptance and unity.)
That is the beauty of this show. It allows its characters to be as human as possible. They aren't always pretty, they make mistakes and can be outright awful sometimes. But it gives them the time to grow and forgives them. Not everyone is 100% good or 100% bad. Life would be so much easier if that were the case but it isn't.
Even the villains in this show are multi-layered...
3. Victim focussed I'm going to be a bit quicker with this one. The show's focus is on the victims, their families, and their communities. It highlights how murder affects not just the victim but everyone who knew them. It doesn't shy away from the darker side of women being murdered (the smear campaign against Min Jeong) without focussing on sexual assault (unlike all those male writers that love writing about women being sexually assaulted. ew). The show REFUSES to slut shame sex workers and instead, gives us wonderful feminist ideology through Dong Sik. The murderers and their accomplices are not glorified or glamorised. The why, what, and how is not the main importance of this story. And personally, I don't give a flying fuck why Jin Mook did what he did- I'd rather find out what the victims did in their lives beforehand. The villains are the weakest characters, AS THEY SHOULD BE. It's not about them, as it shouldn't be. They get forgotten. I remember the names of more victims than Jung Je's mum's name. As. it. should. be.
4. Acting Again, going to be short with this one. This show has some of the best acting I have ever seen! Everyone fucking kills their respective roles. But let's give a huge "shout out" to Shin Ha Kyun (Lee Dong Sik) and Yeo Jin Goo (Han Joo Won). They are outstanding and so brilliantly matched in their talents. They understand their characters and their dynamic so well... Really, this show has the best casting. I can't imagine any other actor playing these characters.
Tumblr media
5. Chemistry Shin Ha Kyun and Yeo Jin Goo have the best chemistry. Seriously, I have seen them both in other projects and they never disappoint, they're wonderful opposite their respective co-stars... but their on-screen chemistry is special. It is tangible, it's magnetic, it's outstanding and so natural. Who does unresolved sexual-angry-undying-love tension quite like them??
Tumblr media
(^ a better summary than I could ever give)
6. Queer subtext/ Queer audience I hate to break it to anyone who missed it or doesn't want to see it (or disagrees, which is fine but... confusing) but this show is queer. Han Joo Won and Lee Dong Sik are into each other. Obviously, their story is far more complex than that, nor it is always healthy. But they do have some sort of feelings for one another. These two are queer coded to high heaven (or hell, if you're being cute) and it's not just the audience projecting their feelings onto the characters, but the actors themselves saw that Joo Won and Dong Sik were in a "secret relationship" (as Jin Goo put it). Queer-coded shows and characters resonated deeply with queer communities/audiences. I think because their relationship was never fully 100% confirmed either with a "yes, we are a couple" or an on-screen kiss, or something, it is instead shown through hints and clues, it causes queer people to fall in love with it. This is partly due to everything I have previously mentioned but also because of the lack of representation, especially in the crime/mystery genre. I could go on forever about this but... I won't because that would be tedious.
[Side note: this show has a very interesting relationship with religion. It is explored through Dong Sik who grew up in a religious family but actively didn't partake in the activities/belief. Then he goes on to lose his family and the community. Then has Joo Won come into his life and promises to go to hell for him, and then have scenes where Dong Sik looks up to the skies and whispers his name like it's a prayer... and then the arrest scenes... It's just. a. lot. That mixed with the queer subtext, it is very delicious.]
Tumblr media
(^ Joo Won making himself into the sacrificial lamb to protect Dong Sik, either with the end goal of dying or "going to hell" in his sted.)
7. Wonderfully attractive people They're good to look at. It helps.
 8. The Ending Episode 16 is a bitch.
Tumblr media
I believe it is the reason that a lot of people are left wanting more of this show. Obviously because of the previous 15 episodes but also, because, about 40-50 minutes of that episode is just trauma. It is so beautiful and heartbreaking. Then BAM! The last few scenes are so light (visually and subject matter) in comparison that it is a breath of fresh air... but it doesn't last very long. We barely get any happiness after so much heavy shit.
The ending is treated as an epilogue but it ('it' being the whole show) is actually the prologue to these characters' lives. We know that the last scene isn't the end of Dong Sik and Joo Won's story. The last shot is Joo Won walking away but we know he's coming back. Because Joo Won always comes back to Dong Sik. Now that he has him, he's never going to let go again.
(I don't want a season two, I NEED a season two. But we're probably never going to get one and that is a good and sad thing)
This show is so beautiful and it grows on its audiences. I, personally, didn't like it as much the first time I watched it as I do now. I found the music to be really off-putting and some of the choices to be slightly lacklustre. However, after rewatching it and digesting it, I just can't... I love it so very much. It's my favourite TV show. I adore the message of togetherness, love, perseverance, and the importance of found family. I love the way they included queer-coded characters with affection and sensitivity. I love that they included actors who took (the story and the underlining love storyline) seriously and wanted to explore it further.
There's so much more I go talk about but I'm not going to. It is complex and multi-layered, and different parts of it speak to different people in different ways. Also, to be really honest, I'm not entirely sure why this show sticks with people the way it does. It's just one of those things that I don't think humans can fully explain. Sometimes, a piece of media just captures you and speaks to you on a level that you can't fully comprehend and THAT'S OKAY. We don't always need to understand.
I really could just go on and on and on. But I have already taken up far too much of your time. So, please forgive my ramblings, I hope you feel like I answered your questions. If you have any more, please feel free to send them my way.
Finally, if anyone else wants to add to this, or disagrees with me, please feel free to give your opinions. Or maybe share why this show resonates with you! I'll love to read that, and I'm sure anon would love that, too!
-Thanks and bye!

If you could go back in time and restart any of your fics, which one would you choose? And what would you do differently?
With where I'm at, it'd be the ML fic Lucky Fox Paradox.
I really had my Love Square Glasses on when I wrote it, and played off the belief of LB and Cat always being soulmates (which apparently Alya and Zoe are the 2nd go to for those miraculous so, are they soulmates now?); Marinette MUST be Ladybug and Alya MUST be Fox; and I do wonder if the Adrien-Alya partnership would really play out like I had it in the fic. Cause much of that interaction was influenced by the idea of soulmates and Marinette and Adrien are the true chosens for LB and Cat and I don't hold that belief anymore.
So if I had a chance to restart it, I'd go for less romance focus and more character focus, what would they do, how would things go? There's a lot of possibilities and potential. Especially with Alya. Would Alya become more distant and her and Marinette don't become close friends as she's too caught up in being a hero and is struggling to balance her hero and civilian life? Would she and Adrien just reveal to each other? Would Alya reveal herself to Marinette or Nino? Marinette for sure I think would actively help from the shadows (which can warrant her getting the Fox as I think is more designed for the shadows). And Adrien I think wouldn't be so bothered with Ladybug quitting, he'd be a little bummed, but not too hung over it as he only worked with her once.
For sure no Adrienette happening, at most they'd become friends but nothing romantic would happen. Adrien would probably date Kagami right away unless he fell for Scarabella but that detail is up in the air for me.
Marinette wouldn't get the Ladybug back and Alya wouldn't get the Fox.
And I'd definitely like to have a 2nd go at the Adrien-Alya partnership. I do think it'd go better than how I initially did them. And how canon did them as Adrien wouldn't have that history with Ladybug to make him hostile to Scarabella.
They have a lot of similarities that would make them fast friends, especially as both would be excited to be heroes, and they would have roles that they settle into, as Adrien typically defaults to being a follower while Alya always steps up to be a leader. They're definitely going to have bumps in the road as the both can be reckless and a little hotheaded and pushy with their wants and ideas. But working together around the start, yeah I think their partnership would go better in comparison to how it was in LFP and in comparison to canon.
So that's the one I'd pick to redo if I could. And if I get back into ML, I may tackle it sometime as a nonAdrienette fic. Though that would be after Copycat and DaB's completion.

MLOps and ML Data pipeline: Key Takeaways
Tumblr media
If you have ever worked with a Machine Learning (ML) model in a production environment, you might have heard of MLOps. The term explains the concept of optimizing the ML lifecycle by bridging the gap between design, model development, and operation processes.
As more teams attempt to create AI solutions for actual use cases, MLOps is now more than just a theoretical idea; it is a hotly debated area of machine learning that is becoming increasingly important. If done correctly, it speeds up the development and deployment of ML solutions for teams all over the world.
MLOps is frequently referred to as DevOps for Machine Learning while reading about the word. Because of this, going back to its roots and drawing comparisons between it and DevOps is the best way to comprehend the MLOps concept.
MLOps vs DevOps
DevOps is an iterative approach to shipping software applications into production. MLOps borrows the same principles to take machine learning models to production. Either Devops or MLOps, the eventual objective is higher quality and control of software applications/ML models.
What is MLOps?
Machine Learning Operations is referred to as MLOps. Therefore, the function of MLOps is to act as a communication link between the operations team overseeing the project and the data scientists who deal with machine learning data.
Tumblr media
The key MLOps principles are:
Versioning – keeping track of the versions of data, ML model, code around it, etc.;
Testing – testing and validating an ML model to check whether it is working in the development environment;
Automation – trying to automate as many ML lifecycle processes as possible;
Reproducibility – we want to get identical results given the same input;
Deployment – deploying the model into production;
Monitoring – checking the model’s performance on real-world data.
What are the benefits of MLOps?
The primary benefits of MLOps are efficiency, scalability, and risk reduction.
Efficiency: MLOps allows data teams to achieve faster model development, deliver higher quality ML models, and faster deployment and production.
Scalability: Thousands of models may be supervised, controlled, managed, and monitored for continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment thanks to MLOps’ extensive scalability and management capabilities. MLOps, in particular, makes ML pipelines reproducible, enables closer coordination between data teams, lessens friction between DevOps and IT, and speeds up release velocity.
Risk reduction: Machine learning models often need regulatory scrutiny and drift-check, and MLOps enables greater transparency and faster response to such requests and ensures greater compliance with an organization’s or industry’s policies.
Data pipeline for ML operations
One significant difference between DevOps and MLOps is that ML services require data–and lots of it. In order to be suitable for ML model training, most data has to be cleaned, verified, and tagged. Much of this can be done in a stepwise fashion, as a data pipeline, where unclean data enters the pipeline, and then the training, validating, and testing data exits the pipeline.
The data pipeline of a project involves several key steps:
Data collection:
Whether you source your data in-house, open-source, or from a third-party data provider, it’s important to set up a process where you can continuously collect data, as needed. You’ll not only need a lot of data at the start of the ML development lifecycle but also for retraining purposes at the end. Having a consistent, reliable source for new data is paramount to success.
Data cleansing:
This involves removing any unwanted or irrelevant data or cleaning up messy data. In some cases, it may be as simple as converting data into the format you need, such as a CSV file. Some steps of this may be automatable.
Data annotation:
Labeling your data is one of the most time-consuming, difficult, but crucial, phases of the ML lifecycle. Companies that try to take this step internally frequently struggle with resources and take too long. Other approaches give a wider range of annotators the chance to participate, such as hiring freelancers or crowdsourcing. Many businesses decide to collaborate with external data providers, who can give access to vast annotator communities, platforms, and tools for any annotating need. Depending on your use case and your need for quality, some steps in the annotation process may potentially be automated.
After the data has been cleaned, validated, and tagged, you can begin training the ML model to categorize, predict, or infer whatever it is that you want the model to do. Training, validation, and hold-out testing datasets are created out of the tagged data. The model architecture and hyperparameters are optimized many times using the training and validation data. Once that is finished, you test the algorithm on the hold-out test data one last time to check if it performs enough on the fresh data you need to release.
Setting up a continuous data pipeline is an important step in MLOps implementation. It’s helpful to think of it as a loop, because you’ll often realize you need additional data later in the build process, and you don’t want to have to start from scratch to find it and prepare it.
Conclusion
MLOps help ensure that deployed models are well maintained, performing as expected, and not having any adverse effects on the business. This role is crucial in protecting the business from risks due to models that drift over time, or that are deployed but unmaintained or unmonitored.

So a different kind of problem I run into with the design team is that I'll ask a question about how to best lay out a set of information. And I receive
A suggestion saying we should put filters and comparison views and a doughnut chart, completely missing the point that the information is there for the user's FYI and it's not for comparing anything.

A Comprehensive Analysis: Hp 67xl Ink Cartridge Combo Packs for Consistent Printing
Tumblr media
For high-volume printers, replacing ink cartridges frequently can be a hassle and drain on your budget. Enter the hp 67xl ink cartridge combo pack, a convenient and potentially cost-effective solution. Let's analyze these combo packs to see if they deliver consistent performance.
Benefits of Hp 67xl Ink Cartridge Combo Packs
Convenience: Buying both black and color cartridges together saves you time and trips to the store.
Cost-Effectiveness: Combo packs often offer a slight discount compared to buying cartridges individually. This can be especially true for high-yield (XL) cartridges like the 67xl.
Consistent Performance: By using cartridges designed to work together, you can potentially reduce compatibility issues and ensure smooth printing.
Factors to Consider Before Buying
Print Volume: If you print infrequently, a combo pack might expire before you use all the ink, leading to waste.
Individual Cartridge Needs: Do you print more in color or black and white? Consider buying single cartridges if your usage is unbalanced.
Price Comparison: While combo packs offer a discount, compare the total price per milliliter (ml) of ink to individual cartridges for the best value.
Maximizing the Value of Hp 67xl Ink Cartridge Combo Packs
Track Ink Usage: Monitor your ink levels to replace cartridges before they run dry, preventing print quality issues.
Choose High-Yield Cartridges: Hp 67xl cartridges offer more ink than standard options, reducing replacement frequency.
Consider Compatible Brands: Explore reputable third-party ink cartridges for potentially lower costs, but ensure compatibility with your printer.
Conclusion
Hp 67xl ink cartridge combo packs offer convenience and potential cost savings for frequent printers. However, consider your printing habits and compare prices to individual cartridges for the best value. By making informed choices, you can ensure consistent printing performance without breaking the bank.

I already asked @officialfanbug, and I thought why not get other opinions on (mostly because I like hearing various opinions on things) so here I am. So on to the questions, I heard someone say it's nearly impossible to make all the miraculous heroes look cohesive since all their suits ha e different themes, patterns, and color schemes. As an artist and character designer, what do you think about that statement? Also, do you think the miraculous heroes' lack of cohesion could work to their advantage? Like maybe it could be used to make them kind of like the justice league, a group of independent heroes that are all capable of working on their own but chose to work together to fight threats they can't handle alone. What's your opinion on this idea?
I'm glad! It's an interesting topic to explore. I'm always glad to share my opinion.
Now, I want to preface by saying that I'm no professional, and this is all from first hand experience.
I heard someone say it's nearly impossible to make all the miraculous heroes look cohesive since all their suits ha e different themes, patterns, and color schemes. As an artist and character designer, what do you think about that statement?
I think that's like.. false- but like, it's too late to change that. A good designer knows that you can have a variety of shapes, sizes, patterns, colors- and have them go to together as a group. Now, what's important is that- when you look at a character. you're able to glean several things: a strong silhouette, their personality, and how their body language expresses themselves.
To be a direct comparison to Miraculous Ladybug, I bring up DC Super Hero Girls. (Regardless of the show's actual quality since I've only seen ep 1 and 2, Lauren Faust is ALWAYS able to make a strong cast of characters-- looks SO INTENTLY at Milky Way and MLP) Even in resting poses, their character designs say SO MUCH about each of them, yet they all fit into the same group super easily.
Tumblr media
Canon ML's issue is that it's trying too hard to emulate other, more popular heroes, then trying to form it's own identity. It's a case of "These heroes wore skintight spandex, so Ladybug should wear skintightspandex. This is how a superhero SHOULD look." while completely ignoring it's own design pitch ("we want to make something uniquely Parisian/french") via trying to emulate already-popular and successful media (Marvel and DC, respectively) when those series THEMSELVES are breaking away from such trends, ignoring it's own in-universe lore (The suits reflect the user's inner self) and shows bias towards sexualizing the young charterers (Marinette alone has so many crotch shots and a focus on her legs, her signature pose has her hips thrust in an unnatural way, her ladybug model has been shown to have inflated "assets") all the while trying to claim girl-power as the reasoning.
it's a lack of cohesion that plagues the whole series (as it all runs on "Rule of Cool" and "rule of funny" instead of trying to form a good narrative) but I'll stick to character design exclusively. So in the end, what they do is "This is cool, lets do this" and fail to actually make characters that match each other, even though those those designs fail to.. reflect the character themselves (Marinette does not match ladybug, sorry to everyone who thinks she does, but you are all wrong) tell their story (Cat Noir's outfit doesn't match his personality very much- it looks very conventional- PV's propped collar worked great in this regard, and the wild hair doesn't translate well since Adrien's hair is fluffy and doesn't look too different. from Cats.) and a LOT of the body language that made the characters interesting in the beginning was LARGELY SAMG's doing, and prolly wasn't thought of much by the original story-boarders. Non-child characters get to have interesting designs (Fu and Mayura, notably. And hawkmoth's design is far more interesting than Ladybugs.) while some child characters have shitty or half-assed designs due to budget reasons (Ladybug herself, Miss Tracker/Hound, Ryuko)
It's like they have too much money, yet not enough at the same time. It's wild.
Also, do you think the miraculous heroes' lack of cohesion could work to their advantage? Like maybe it could be used to make them kind of like the justice league, a group of independent heroes that are all capable of working on their own but chose to work together to fight threats they can't handle alone. What's your opinion on this idea?
No. Not when they come from the same "Set" like the story they want to tell is saying. Characters like Ladybug, Ryuko, Queen Bee, Vipereon and Purple Tigress all wear skintight latex that dosen't match their personalities whatsoever... which works if they are meant to be in a themed set... which is the whole point. LB and CN are supposed to come in a pair- that's not like, fandom talking-- that's how the story presents it, even though they wanted it to be The Ladybug Show. you can't NOT have the characters mirror. But even with the color mirroring, the designs couldn't be more different. and thats bad.
but then that theming is offset by designs like Alyabug, Rooster Bold, Goatboy, Horse Glasses White Dreadlocks and Oxford, which have more complex and interesting designs, and Pigella, Mousegirls 1 and 2, and Catwalker which seem to match personalities better. (Multimouse is actually one of the best designs in the series, ngl. the jump rope tail and the twin buns are so good- and the pink complements Marinette SO GOOD ugh I cry.)
idk I got rambly. If you want more clarification, just go ahead and ask.

FAQs
Question 1: Do I really need Cricut Mug Press?
Answer: If you are a novice and want to personalize your mug, you must go for it! The Cricut Mug Press is designed so that anyone can use it without anyone’s help. I personally prefer this machine because it meets all my requirements for creating a good-looking mug.
Question 2: Can I use tumblers with my Cricut Mug Press?
Answer: In short, no! The Cricut Mug Press is capable of pressing against the flat round surface. As a result, the tumblers and any other cups with grooves or non-cylindrical shapes will not fit with your machine. But, still, some tumblers may work if they have enough of a straight wall surface.
Question 3: What type of mugs are compatible with Cricut Mug Press?
Answer: If you are wondering whether you can use regular mugs with your Cricut machine, well, you can certainly use them. Just make sure they have a special coating that allows sublimation and that they should also fit your machine. However, Cricut Mug Press can use 350 to 470 ml mugs without any problem. Ensure you are using the mugs within this range.

For the development and improvement of machine learning and AI solutions, MLOps is a helpful methodology. By utilizing continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) procedures with appropriate monitoring, validation, and governance of ML models, data scientists and machine learning engineers can work together and accelerate the speed of model creation and production by using an MLOps approach.
The key MLOps principles are:
Versioning – keeping track of the versions of data, ML model, code around it, etc.;
Testing – testing and validating an ML model to check whether it is working in the development environment;
Automation – trying to automate as many ML lifecycle processes as possible;
Reproducibility – we want to get identical results given the same input;
Deployment – deploying the model into production;
