What does Roxanne mean when she thinks that her sister is her mother?
Roxanne's dad abandoned her family when he found out that Minus and Ryoku were going to exist. Her mom, Ashrin, only lived four years past their birth. She died of a treatable infection when the town they were in denied her proper medical care.
Roxanne was eight years old when she was left to take care of her siblings. She'd blamed them for "ruining" her family since her dad left, and at that point, she blamed them for her mother being dead. Roxanne loved Ashrin more than anything. Her mother amounted to her complete concept of "good" in the world, and losing her destroyed parts of Roxanne that never would come back.
But at the same time she despised both of her siblings for taking her mother and family and happiness away, they were all she had left. Physically, Roxanne looks like her dad. Minus and Ryoku look like Ashrin. It wasn't hard to figure out that Ryoku was fucked up in ways that no one wanted to deal with, but Minus was very obviously Roxanne's last tie to the mother she adored and the family she wanted to still have. Minus was small and young and wouldn't remember any of this well enough to understand.
So Roxanne wound up projecting. Bad. Throughout her late childhood, she developed a desperate sort of belief that Minus was all she had left of Ashrin. In a way, she was Ashrin, because she looked like her and maybe could have loved Roxanne enough to fill the void a little bit if she'd let that happen.
In the end, Roxanne's hatred and blame twisted all up with the desperate love she had for what she had and what she'd lost. It became something so powerful and confusing she didn't know what to do with it, so her grief exploded everywhere, and all anyone saw was how ugly that made her. She still kind of thinks of Minus as her mother, still alive, but in a way where she's still never going to have her old happiness back. Dead is dead, after all.

Minus is bad at relationships in the sense that she just plain doesn't know how to have them. There have been PLENTY of people invested in her throughout her youth— but that was never a good thing. Ryoku loved her in the sense that he wanted to be her. Dorian liked her when she didn't want him to at all. Roxanne was fixated on her in a way that usually teetered on fatal. No matter what she did or where she went, people kept sticking to her. Minus learned young to push back. If she let people get close, it wouldn't end well, so fighting back became ingrained in her to a point where she can't turn it off anymore. Even when she's close to someone, she doesn't have a concept of lowering her walls in any way that matters.
Ryoku is bad at relationships in the sense that he's never had any. As soon as people figured out that there was something wrong with him, he had to learn to be alone. And at the same time he's accepted that he's just the kind of person other people know better than to bare their throats to, that's left a certain void in him that's obvious if you look too close. Ryoku thinks that loving someone is the same as being them, in a way. If you know another person inside and out, if a part of you could be mistaken for a part of them, then you'll understand them just the same as they understand you, whether they want to say it or not. And after that, he knows what judgment is. People know him, and what they know can't go away.
Roxanne is bad at relationships in the sense that she can never let certain parts of herself be known. What started out as not being able to let herself say things turned into an inability to do it at all. To her mother, to her siblings, to the people who place their lives in her hands, and everyone else— Roxanne, as she is, could never put her real self into words. There's a distance between her and everyone she's close to that goes beyond her efforts to act tough. Even when she lets her guard down and doesn't care, there are things that she could never explain to anyone. She hates and loves and is utterly consumed by how badly she wishes no one had ever needed her, and in the end, she can't say that she doesn't remember what "good" is.

Minus’s Hometown/History: Basic Character Intros
Minus Odiar
She/her, 16*
One of the few remaining members of the Odiar family. Roxanne’s younger sister and Ryoku’s twin. Definitely the sane one in her family and generally just done with the world. Her life has been one moment of trauma after another, but she’s come out fighting!
Minus is serious, practical, cynical, and short-tempered. She’s rarely a person to start a fight (though arguments are an exception), but she’ll happily finish one. A hard childhood has left her jaded, but despite her difficult past, she’s growing into big things. A perpetual pessimist who nonetheless never stops fighting.
Blackscale. 5′4. Plain black hair and eyes, small build with more strength than you’d expect. Hair is waist-length and spiky, and there’s always an angry look in her eyes.
Ryoku Odiar
He/him, 16*
One of the few remaining members of the Odiar family. Roxanne’s younger brother and Minus’s twin. The outcast of his family who neither of his siblings care for. Abandoned over and over throughout his childhood, which has not helped his psychological problems.
As a child, Ryoku spent his time alone in the great outdoors, killing small animals for fun. Born with something severely wrong with him, the severe neglect he grew up with didn’t help. Sneaky, pragmatic, selfish, and carefree, Ryoku will stab you with a smile. He has an obsessive fixation on Minus, who he often impersonates.
Blackscale. 5′4. Identical to Minus save for longer hair and a lack of chest. Hair is butt-length, layered, and usually worn up in a high ponytail. Always looks like he’s up to something nasty.
Roxanne Odiar
She/her, 20*
One of the few remaining members of the Odiar family. Minus and Ryoku’s older sister. Full of hate for the world and nearly everyone around her, Roxanne’s relationship with Minus is a minefield of issues. Very bad at making things better for herself.
Roxanne is a bad-tempered woman with an unpleasant personality and an intimidating aura. She’s big, mean, and scary, and doesn’t hesitate to make all of those parts well-known. She has a soft side buried somewhere deep, deep down... although it may be more of a “severely depressed” side instead.
Blackscale. 6′0. Black eyes. Hip-length black hair in a blunt hime cut, with natural purple streaks throughout it. Built like a tank with a bad attitude. Lots of muscle, big titty.
Satski Kaiya
She/her, 21*
Roxanne’s best friend from childhood. In contrast to Roxanne’s general lack of parenting, Satski’s were strict hoverers who never left her alone. However, she vanished from everyone’s lives suddenly when she was eleven, leaving no trace of what happened to her behind...
Patient and gentle, yet snarky and brutally honest, Satski is the kind of person you either love or hate. She’s nice to people she likes, but vicious to those she doesn’t, and she hates half-heartedness above all. However, because of her trauma, Satski gains a guarded layer. She’s still her kind self, but there’s something dark and broken inside of her.
Blackscale. Black eyes, black hair, pale skin. Average height, shoulder-length black hair usually worn half up in a fluffy ponytail and half loose around her neck. Slender, “pretty” build.
Siren Emmerson
She/her, 22*
Part of Roxanne’s friend group from childhood on. Born to a fairly wealthy family, her older sister terrorized and bullied her to a point where Siren feared for her life, forcing her to run away. Naturally submissive, she’s the type who has major trouble standing up for herself.
Siren is a shy, passive kind of person who’s more interested in doing what other people want than paying attention to her own needs. The way she grew up instilled major trust issues and some paranoid tendencies, and she’s quick to assume the worst of people. However, when she does trust someone, she’ll do anything to keep them happy.
Bluescale. Medium-dark skin, pale aqua-colored eyes. Hair is waist-length, quite thick, and resembles red-velvet cake in hue. Built soft and curvy with a little bit of chub.
Corinthea Lysander
She/her, 21*
Part of Roxanne’s friend group from childhood on. Originally a minor noble, an accident in her early childhood left her scarred and missing an arm, for which she was thrown out of her family. She bears scars and a jaded outlook on the world as a result.
Corinthea is serious, quiet, and practical. She dislikes frivolous things and weak people, and places a lot of value on her own capabilities as a way of compensating for how worthless she used to feel. She’s quite cynical, but very protective of those close to her. Takes out her aggression through being brutal in combat.
Redscale. Very tall. Tan skin, reddish-orange eyes, thick, hip-length, tawny brown hair usually work in a high side ponytail with parts loose. Prosthetic left arm and extensive scarring on that side of her body.
Zana Moridisio
She/her, 17*
Minus’s best friend during childhood. While Zana hasn’t been through anything remarkable herself, she sympathizes with Minus heavily. Her main goal in life is to measure up to her best friend and not fall behind, and her main struggle is the jealousy that perpetually creeps in.
Friendly, upbeat, and energetic, Zana is Minus’s polar opposite. She’s the type of person whose life centers around other people, and she’s spent most of her life simply following Minus’s shadow. Without anything outstanding to call her own, she’s stuck in a loop of trying to prove herself. She has issues with an inferiority complex.
Blackscale. Straight, black hair that falls to her thighs, black eyes, and a sweet, happy-looking face. Her build is slim and graceful, but lined with a fair amount of lean, toned muscle.
Dorian Rekishi
He/him, 18*
Diana’s older brother. Due to mutual hatred of her father, he and Roxanne have always got along well. Perpetually Minus’s babysitter through childhood, Dorian developed a (very unwanted) crush on her at a young age. It’s never really gone away, much to Minus’s disgust.
Cool, charming, and somewhat eccentric, Dorian grew up as a bit of an odd one out. He’s not too interested in combat, but he has a sharper mind than one would expect. Persistence and devotion are his defining traits, but he has problems with taking no for an answer. Very protective of his younger sister. A family man at heart.
Blackscale. Average height, black, shoulder-length, sleek hair, black eyes, and handsome, almost “pretty” features. Broad-shouldered yet slender, and usually wearing a pleasant grin.
Diana Rekishi
She/her, 15*
Dorian’s younger sister.
She and Dorian’s parents disliked (and constantly badmouthed) Roxanne’s dad, so the two of them always got along well with her. Diana was young enough to be more of a tag-along, but she often played with Minus and Ryoku. Her life is one of hopeful obliviousness.
Peppy, energetic, and bold, Diana is very good at making friends... but not great at maintaining them. She’s somewhat flighty, tends to be fickle and inconsistent, and is terrible at keeping secrets. Dorian has protected her enough that she’s rather ignorant of the worse parts of life, and she tends to be accidentally insensitive toward people’s problems.
Blackscale. Fairly average height. Black eyes, dirty blonde, aggressively curly hair that falls to her waist in a wild mane. Her build is on the shapely side of athletic— clearly made for moving around with grace.
Nyx Sabre
She/Her, 20*
Nella’s older sister. Nyx had a rough family life growing up, with an abusive single mother and a lot of responsibility looking after Nella. In constant competition with Roxanne from an early age, to a point of seeing the other girl as the standard for what she has to best.
Outwardly, Nyx is aggressive, competitive, and cruel. She takes everything she does seriously and focuses more on stomping out rivals than bettering herself. She’s filled with resentment toward anyone she sees as better than her, but is dismissive of those who are “lesser”. Jealousy and hidden insecurity define her.
Blackscale. Messy dirty blonde hair with a wide, black streak, worn in a chin-length side-shave. Black eyes and a curvy, “thick” build with wide shoulders and a sizable chest.
Nella Sabre
She/they, 16*
Nyx’s younger sister. While her mother was harsher on Nyx, Nella mostly went ignored. Despite being encouraged to form a rivalry with Minus, Nella never quite managed to work up the guts to do it. Beaten down and mistreated from an early age, ending in an utter lack of confidence.
Nella comes across as a very subtle, reserved person. She fades into the background and rarely voices opinions of her own, usually allowing Nyx to take the lead. Close to her sister in the sense that she doesn’t know how to stand on her own. While she’ll try to act as heartless as Nyx, Nella’s attempts always come across as hollow and fake.
Blackscale. Hip-length, dirty blonde hair with a number of black streaks in it. Black eyes and a perpetual look of silent misery etched across her face. Thicker build usually hidden under ill-fitting clothes.
Jesse Lionel
He/him, 23*
A local “orphan” who was dumped near the town when his parents got sick of raising him. He stuck close to Alphonse and his family because he didn’t have anything else, but quickly grew attached to them. His tendency to feel too strongly for everyone around him is dangerous.
Emotional, dramatic, and intense, Jesse’s personality is one of a very different culture. His birthplace was a city miles from where his parents dropped him, so he always acted “strange”. He’s bold, honest, and friendly, usually giving too much of himself away to others just because he can. A perpetual optimist even at the worst of times.
Redscale. Red eyes, thick, ruddy-brown hair that falls to his waist and somewhat in his face. Bony, lanky build lined with more muscle than you’d expect. Handsome features. Trans— FtM.
Alphonse Wren
They/he, 19*
Their parents were involved with the “military” efforts of the town, which were, in reality, nothing more than over-eager civilians doing things they shouldn’t have. Alphonse was never well-liked because of their parents’ job, and spent a childhood mostly shunned, save for by Jesse.
Alphonse is the kind of person who rarely speaks. They learned early on that not many people wanted them to open their mouth or make themselves know, so they started to just shut up. Reclusive, quiet, and uncomfortable with attention, they take a long time to open up, and even then, usually prefer to do things on their own.
Blackscale. Pale skin, black eyes, very tall. Short-cropped, dark purple hair worn in a side-parted, fluffy style that’s impossible to tame. Powerful-yet-lean build with wide shoulders and a lot of strength.
* Ages are those in the “present” canon.

out of all the relationships among your characters who do you think would be most likely to sell another's soul to Satan for one corn chip?
Minus and Roxanne would yeet Ryoku out of their lives for good at the first given opportunity, no hesitation. Mythian also feels very similarly about Solaris, but that one is way more justified.
There are probably more examples, but these are obvious. XD

Since the test you did, I kind of have been wondering a bit about Minus... Besides what you said there and in the character's post, what else can you tell us about Minus?
Ooooh, Minus OwO
To give a very simple explanation, Minus is one of the first three Ocs ever tied to the Anryuu universe, as well as the start of it the way we know it today. She’s a Daryan Blackscale, bodyguard to the princess Arassia Daryan, and more or less a main character for the story.
Now... below the cut, I’m going to go into LOTS of detail...
First of all, this is what she looks like:
Tumblr media
Minus is a member of the Odiar family-- a noble family which it its best days, was one of the highest-ranking and most important families in the Daryan country. However, over time, the family fell apart. Present-day, there are under twenty Odiars living and keeping the name. Minus herself is the granddaughter of the current Odiar family head, Claudia. Her mother is Claudia’s only daughter; Ashrin. Minus has an older sister, Roxanne, and a twin brother, Ryoku.
Ashrin Odiar wanted to marry a man that her mother didn’t approve of. She ran away from home to be with him and the two of them settled in a small town in the northern part of the Daryan plains. Roxanne was born first, and for about four years, had a happy childhood with her parents.
However, when Ashrin found out that she was going to be having twins, her husband abandoned her, unwilling to deal with the responsibility of two more children. Alone and stranded, Ashrin wanted to return home at that point, but with a small child and two more on the way, she was trapped. On top of that, the village that she now lived in was dead set on keeping her and her children there, wanting strong fighters in the case that the war would reach them, as well as because of a persistent problem with bandits.
Shortly after Minus and Ryoku were born, Ashrin fell ill. She passed away not long after, leaving a six-year-old Roxanne to look out for her two-year-old siblings.
From there, Minus’s life was pure misery. Roxanne blamed her younger siblings for her family falling apart. If they didn’t exist, her father would still be with them and her mother would likely still be alive. Even as she loved Minus for resembling their mother the closest, she resented her for existing in the first place.
As such, Roxanne got mean. Throughout Minus’s childhood, she took at attitude of “tough love”... removing the “love”. In the unspoken name of making Minus strong, Roxanne constantly attacked her both physically and verbally to the point of things that could easily have killed Minus should she not have reacted in time. Minus grew up convinced that Roxanne hated her-- hating her sister right back for the torment that she was put through.
Meanwhile, Minus’s brother, Ryoku, grew up weird. He’d had some strange tendencies his whole life, but those tendencies quickly evolved into spending school days out in the plains, torturing and killing small animals for the sole sake of watching something die. Neither Roxanne nor Minus wanted to deal with him, so he was ignored and left to his “hobbies”.
When Minus was ten and Roxanne was fourteen, the two of them, plus Roxanne’s two closest friends, fled their hometown, leaving Ryoku behind. They went to one of the largest cities in the Daryan country; Ranbridge, otherwise known as the Black Slums, thanks to its high population of Blackscales.
The Black Slums was a dangerous place.. Drugs, trafficking, gangs, and violent crime were all disturbingly common. Minus and Roxanne took up residence in a small, abandoned apartment building, also laying claim on the alleyway beside it. Roxanne and her friends occupied the most stable of the apartments while Minus made her home in the alleyway, in part to get away from her sister. During her time in the Slums, Minus finally made some allies. She formed a small-level gang composed of herself and three other girls close to her age. Overall, she gained a lot of strength and confidence during these years.
When Minus was twelve, the war ended. In the wake of such a massive conflict coming to an end, the world was quickly changing.
Deciding to leave Roxanne behind for good, Minus packed up and left the Black Slums, bidding farewell to her gang. She went to the Capital, where she applied to serve in the Palace Guard; the main military of the country.
Because she was a year too young to officially join the Guard, Minus spent the next year as an under-the-table trainee, where the person who recruited her chose not to disclose her age. Around a year into her training, by the time she’d reached the age where she was an official member of the Guard, Minus had an encounter with the eldest Daryan princess; Arassia, who was a year older.
Arassia took an immediate shine to Minus. The two quickly became (rather one-sided) friends, with Arassia setting her mind to having Minus stay by her side. With her previous bodyguard’s health failing, Arassia made a specific appeal to her father, the king, that Minus become her bodyguard in the previous woman’s place. This request was accepted, and Minus officially became bodyguard to the crown princess.
Minus’s role in the story starts around the time she becomes Arassia’s bodyguard, but if I ever get the time, I’d like to write a story solely going into detail on the Odiar siblings’ backstory! :D I could go into her personality a LOT, but this feels long enough... Feel free to send me another ask if you want more details, though!

Yeah... um... there are already like a couple hundred characters XD I tend to get a little out of control with this one... But as for some of the more important ones, I’ll limit myself to ten of them for now.
Arassia Daryan is the oldest character I associate with the story. She’s a long-time favorite of mine, and one that a LOT of the story involves. Because she’s been around for so long as a character, I actually keep track of the present-day timeline by how old she is during a given year. She’s the eldest princess of the Daryan country, and for a while, is believed to be the next heir to the throne. Because of her intense role in the country, she and her sisters are involved in any arcs that feature the royalty or upper levels of government. Which... is quite a few of them. Because I like her so much, I intend to have Arassia appear as often as possible. Well, that and because she’s just a really good character to me.
Asakiri Daryan is the crown princess of the Daryan country. Thought to be dead and known to be missing due to a complex assassination attempt involving her parents, she grew up in the White Slums and was only found again on accident. She’s Arassia’s cousin and the rightful heir to the throne. Asakiri gets a lot of character development during the story, and grows from a shy, stifled, overly-emotional teenager to a strong, capable young woman who’s accepted her place in the world. She doesn’t show up in the story for a while, but once she does, she’s pretty important. She grows up to become the next Daryan queen, and takes the throne when she’s twenty-five.
Aphri Novus is the youngest child of the former Dzlethian queen, Delphi. Since her mother’s death when she was twelve (and due largely in part to her older brother, Alan’s, incompetence), she’s basically been running the country since her early teens. She’s a dutiful, self-sacrificing person who would do anything to make sure her nation succeeds, even at the cost of her own happiness and wellbeing. Later in the story, she organizes the next proper competition for the Dzlethian throne (after her mother tried to ruin it), and plays a big part in the choosing of the next queen. She also interacts with the other countries a lot, as for most of the story, she’s basically the one to represent the Dzlethians.
Emilia Lunaria is, for a long time, the only eligible heir to the Ghiasuli throne. Only men are supposed to rule, but with the rest of her family dead from an attempt to put someone very different on the throne, Emilia is left alive as a puppet of the High Nobles, who are trying to prove her incompetent enough to let someone else take over. Emilia is a Spirit Elemental who can raise the dead... with some major costs. She’s also the representative of the Ghiasuli kingdom for a long time, along with her cousin, Mythian. Her character leads into a good few arcs featuring the Ghiasuli nobility and politics.
Zaire Xavier Odiar. Oh, Zaire Xavier. He started out a mere arc villain, but through a lot of development, he’s become one of the major antagonists of the story. Appearing to be a bizarre eccentric with an unnatural fixation on his ancestor, he turns out to be an insanely dangerous man dead-set on resurrecting said ancestor and wreaking havoc by her side. Zaire is the leader of one of the major forces in the Daryan country; a dangerous group known as the Blacklight Syndicate. The Blacklight Syndicate have their hands in way more than anyone wants them to, meaning that Zaire is wrapped up in all kinds of messes that cause big trouble for anyone who gets in his way.
Minus Odiar is Arassia’s personal bodyguard. She’s an official member of the Palace Guard who hit it off with Arassia on accident, and wound up being chosen to be by her side. Minus is a small-town girl with connections to both the common people and the beyond-dangerous Black Slums, meaning that her existence serves as a major transition point in shifting the story from the nobility to the more common folk. She’s also a member of the ancient noble house, the Odiar family, even if she’s been torn away from them due to family matters... and even if they’re kind of dying out. Her siblings, older sister Roxanne and twin brother Ryoku, also have some big connections in tying the story together.
Solaris Milomir is the more or less head of the Ghiasuli Royal Guard. He’s supposed to be a strong person with a lot of responsibility, but in reality, he’s a schemer who’s just out for the throne. He’s working with the High Nobles, the ones who basically own the Ghiasuli kingdom, in order to push Emilia and Mythian off of the throne. He’s on the fast track to getting himself into a lot of trouble, but he’s too arrogant to realize that he’s making some very bad choices. He’s one of the main antagonists in a number of the arcs featuring the Ghiasuli, and is going to be a BIG problem to be dealt with.
Temperance Starlight is a high-ranking member of the Daryan Palace Guard. She’s a Lightening Psychic, and wayyy more importantly, a member of the Starlight Sect-- a cult within the Daryan country that’s convinced that something is out there, and the only way to please it is to turn their bodies (and the bodies of everyone else) into machines. This cult is one of the biggest forces in play in the Daryan country, serves as the main provider of prosthetics (a very common necessity) to all three countries, and Temperance is the way that the whole mess is introduced. She’s not a major member of the Starlight Sect, but she’s the start of learning about it.
Elionette Dragomir is the head of the Dzlethian Nation Guard. While she’s technically supposed to have the same rank as three others, her status as a long-time friend of Delphi gave her more authority than she really should have. With Delphi’s death and the end of the Daryan-Dzlethian war, with the Daryans emerging as the victors, Elionette is not a happy woman. She’s a tyrant who rules the Guard with an iron fist-- and is out for revenge for her queen and country. She’s one of the biggest forces in the Dzlethian nation, and one that’s going to prove a real problem for Aphri and the Daryans.
Bel Klein is a Time Elemental with a very particular ability. She “sees” the memories of people and objects by simply being near them. This has kind of mind-broken her. She rambles a constant stream of nonsense, reporting the memories of everything she’s near, and by doing this, unintentionally reveals some major secrets that weren’t supposed to be known. She’s also from approximately 2,300 years in the past, and was recently brought to the present by an unknown person who is also very plot-relevant. Her connection to the past, when she has her lucid moments, also sheds some light on the events of her era that have been lost to history.

i love the way roxanne hates love, also wow @ ryoku's deeply rooted dysphoria
Oh Roxanne is SO deep, anon!!! She doesn't exactly "hate love", but she has really complicated feelings about being loved, the effect of her existence on the world, and being known. I could go for PAGES about everything that's wrong with her*, but honestly, none of her issues exist on their own! It's a mess involving her whole family (Minus, Ryoku, and her mother especially), and none of their problems stand in isolation from the others.
And that's.... interesting. I'm not sure if you mean gender dysphoria specifically?? But if you do, that'd be a REALLY COOL fan-take. I don't see Ryoku as having That brand of issues, but if you want to run with that explanation, please do! And please tell me about it! If you mean other dysphoria, perhaps elaborate? owo I'd be really interested in knowing what you got out of his little rant~
*Please ask me to do this. Give me a subject or whatever and I will GO OFF about Roxanne and/or the Odiars in general

Please do get into her personality >v< she's baby. I need to know more about her
(This is about Minus Odiar, for reference :3)
Minus is... interesting. The outward appearance of her personality is that she’s harsh, abrasive, and generally just kind of angry. She’s always in a foul mood, has a sharp temper, and is never without something cynical to say. She’s got a sharp tongue and a quick wit-- and she isn’t afraid to use it. Minus acts as tough as she can for a lot of reasons-- she wants the world to only see her as someone who can stand up for herself and never get hurt. She’s defensive and cold because she knows that she has to protect herself somehow.
When you look closer, though, Minus has some major positive traits. She’s an extremely loyal person who forms strong attachments (when she lets someone get close) and stands by those people forever. She’s relentlessly stubborn, determined, and dedicated, and will go to whatever lengths it takes to accomplish her goals. She’s a hard-worker who isn’t afraid to put effort in to get strong. Deep, deep down, she’s extremely tender and caring. All she wants is to see the people close to her safe and well-- and yes, she will sacrifice herself to a dangerous degree to accomplish that.
Minus tends to put on the appearance of a loner to keep people away from her, but that’s because she knows that when she cares, she cares too much. She’s a deeply loving person whose connections mean everything to her.
That said, Minus is also a natural fighter who never goes down without a struggle. She’s clawed her way up from the very bottom in life to get where she is, and she won’t budge from that. When people try to push her, she pushes back harder. She can be extremely aggressive, especially when it comes to protecting herself or someone else. She’s known to be rather selfish, but again, that’s mostly out of a desire to keep her heart safe.
Minus is also very, very traumatized. Her family situation is beyond fucked-up, and she’s had very few chances to make healthy, normal friendships. The closest thing to a true friend she’s ever had is Arassia, and even then, Minus is technically her servant and bodyguard before any kind of acquaintance.

Also, will the other girls on the gang make an appearance?
Absolutely!! They will indeed get their focus at multiple points in the story. Their names are Savage, Fallon, and Reverie, and I’ll go into a bit of detail on them for you~ >:3c
(Just to note; they’re all Blackscales.)
Savage’s full name is Savage the Sewer Rat. To give a simple description, the Sewer Rats are a historically oppressed group of people who’ve lived in the Black Slums for centuries. Savage used to be one of them, and yes, that’s a pretty traditional name for them.
Savage is a highly typical member of her culture. She’s hot-tempered, crass, aggressive, and violent-- the picture of someone who’s downright uncomfortable to be near. She grew up under some seriously rough circumstances, and never quite learned how to behave like a member of proper society. That said, she’s viciously loyal to the people she cares about, and that means Minus and the other. Savage is a good person to have on your side and a very, very bad one to have for an enemy.
Fallon Thield has prior associations with “human” trafficking. When she was younger, she worked as a maid/child servant for a somewhat wealthy household on the good side of the slums. That household used their home as a trafficking base, and Fallon assisted in it. She’s seen some truly horrific things in her lifetime because of that.
Her personality is eccentric, to say the least. She’s flamboyant, friendly, sociable, and fixated to a strange degree on interpersonal relationships, both her own and others. She has a distinct lack of understanding of what qualifies as “overkill”, and has a carelessly violent streak that’s probably what’s kept her alive. She only barely escaped being trafficked herself, and is pretty clearly all kinds of fucked-up in the head.
Lastly, Reverie is a victim of a drug by the same name. She does’t remember most of her childhood, but something in it was painful enough that she turned to a drug meant to ease mental strain. Unfortunately, the Black Slums is not known for its quality, and Reverie at one point got a tampered-with batch that nearly killed her. When she woke up, she was missing almost every memory from her previous ten years of life. Minus and the other two found her wandering and took her in.
Reverie doesn’t remember what she used to be like, but her present personality is serious, reserved, and relatively emotionless. The overdose messed with her ability to feel and process emotions, so she displays some odd reactions to certain stimuli. She feels like she owes her life to Minus, and has decided that she’ll spend the rest of her life doing whatever is most useful to her.
And that’s the gang! It’s just the four of them, but they’re ridiculously close. Even after Minus moved on to the Capital, the other three stuck around and stayed together. Minus visits from time to time, and when she does, it’s like nothing’s changed between them.

Also~ besides the obvious, is there any reason why they abandoned Ryoku?
Neither Minus nor Roxanne have ever, ever liked Ryoku. To put it simply, they left him behind because neither of them wanted anything to do with him. They’ve always referred to him by horrible things such as “that”, “that thing”, and “the parasite”, claiming that he’s not even related to them-- just some awful mistake that came out of their mother.
Honestly, both of Ryoku’s sisters are downright cruel to him. He needed help when he was a kid, and clearly, he never got it. Rather than dealing with their brother’s issues and trying to help him not be Like That, they ignored him in favor of dueling out their own issues. Ryoku was left to do as he pleased, with no one paying attention to what he did... aside from pointing out his “hobbies” when they needed a reason to hate him. Ryoku was an extremely socially stunted child. He had no friends whatsoever; most people wouldn’t even tolerate being near him for long. It’s fair that he was seen as creepy, but at the same time, not even adults ever bothered to help him.
So Minus and Roxanne, seeing Ryoku as nothing but a nuisance and a thing that barely even counted as family, did what they always did.
They left him to take care of himself.
