Mens bib shorts
Men's bib shorts are a type of cycling shorts that have straps (bib) that go over the shoulders, providing a more secure and comfortable fit compared to traditional waistband cycling shorts. Bib shorts are popular among cyclists for their improved comfort, especially on long rides, as they eliminate the waistband pressure and keep the shorts in place better. They are typically made from materials that offer moisture-wicking properties and padding (chamois) for added comfort and protection.

Meet new sewing pattern <Kaede> Utility apron / Tool belt
A new item is just released from Waffle Patterns. Meet Utility apron / Tool belt <Kaede> sewing pattern. You can choose a bib apron type or tool belt with many useful pockets and functional parts!
Please freely mix and combine the design options as you like and make functional gear for sewists, gardeners, carpenters, makeup artists, florists, or all cool creative workers!
Tumblr media
<Design options>
View A is an apron type with a bib and the apron is slightly longer than View B. The bib pocket has a layer and pen holder. There is a large layered pocket on the center of the apron and useful cargo pockets, zipper pockets, and hanger loops are on the side parts.
View B is a tool belt type with belt loops, and slightly shorter than View A. The center pocket has one more layer for the artist tool pocket where we can store brushes, seam rippers, or any other stick-shaped equipment. It features belt loops&belt. you can make a belt for this or use a belt you already have. Also, it can be changed to View A type of belt.
My personal favourite is the detachable tool pocket. If you want to make this, please attach the hunger loop or belt loops/belt for attaching it.
Please mix and match the options for your design intention and materials.
Tumblr media
<fabric recommendation>
The pattern is drafted for woven fabrics. Mid-heavy weight durable fabrics like duck, twill, denim, linen, or canvas will be suitable.
Some very thick/stiff fabrics might not be suitable for details like double folded edge or flap etc, because of the thickness of fabric layers. Please consider proper finishes for your material or try to use a contrast fabric for some parts.
I partly used folded nylon tape instead of the double folded pocket opening edges on the sample. Depending on the fabric, maybe this is a good option for the hem, too. Also, I used a contrast fabric for the facing on the gray sample and skip interfacing on some parts, because the shell is quite stiff.
The salmon pink sample was made with mid-weight cotton duck, I made other workwear series with this like Anzu or Azuki. I bought it at local traveling fabric market years ago. Since the construction is like chambray or dungaree, similar fabrics may be found in coloured denim section.
The gray sample is a teflon-coated outdoor fabric. It’s a bit stiff for clothing but perfect for this item. This fabric is also from my local fabric market years ago.
I want to make another one with oil clothes, raw denim or nylon ripstop if I can find nice fabric.
Tumblr media
<Other material>
The samples are using durable webbing tape for the belt and neck straps etc. Those tapes and parts like adjusters are sometimes found in bag making material section at stores. If you cannot find perfect materials, make the tape from a shell or contrast fabric of the same width.
<Size>
3 sizes XS/S, M/L, and XL/XXL are available. As for choosing your size, I recommend referring to the finishing measurement, too. I think some people like to use a tool belt of a smaller size. In that case, please choose a smaller size, then adjust the length of the belt and neck strap to fit your body. If you use the apron over jackets or outers, a larger size will be the option. Since the pattern is quite flat, those are suitable for men, too. The length might be too short. If you want to lengthen, off-setting the hem is the easiest way.

Damon and Derek are taking a short break from repaving a sidewalk. The two men are work partners and are as manly as they come. They love sports, beer, cars, and overalls. But they weren't always this way.
Damon first met Derek at a gay bar. Back then Damon wore mesh tank tops and short shorts; Derek wore flowery shirts and designer pants. They then started dating for a few months before the Overalls for All Act made overalls the required uniform for all men. Gone were their flamboyant clothes and in came workwear overalls.
Damon and Derek lost their jobs as a hairdresser and administrative assistant respectively. The boyfriends were reassigned to manlier jobs as a way to address their deficient masculinity. Both men had been deemed too effeminate in their weekly government inspections. They were sentenced to attend masculinity courses and to spend more time lifting weights.
Damon and Derek were at first horrified by all these changes. They had spend their life embracing their weak, feminine sides and rejecting the power and strength of traditional masculinity. Now they were being forced by law to become what they always hated. The men would sigh each time they donned their mandatory overalls.
It took a few months, but soon enough they saw the error of their ways. Their overalls became a symbol of discipline and self-respect. Damon felt stronger and more confident. Derek felt more obedient and rugged. While they were still boyfriends, they felt that "work partners" better described their relationship. They wanted their devotion of masculine labor to define their relationship.
As the men are laughing at one of Damon's crass jokes, the work whistle blows. The two men adjust their overalls straps and go back to work.
"Damn, I love being a man" Damon says as he turns to Derek.
"Me too, bro" replies Derek, before giving Damon a kiss on the bibs.
The men head back to work, confident in the fact that they are obedient citizens who embrace masculinity in the overalls.

The shirt for my historically accurate Toy Soldier cosplay is done!!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Image: two photos, both taken in a mirror, of a young, transmasc person in their bedroom, wearing a reconstructed, white Victorian dress shirt. It has a shield-shaped bib area and a tab below the placket, with a detachable rounded collar and cuffs. The front placket and collar have a narrow black edge, and everything is fastened together with pearlescent shirt studs and cuff links. In the first image their face is blurred out, with comically simple eyes and a moustache doodled on top. In the second it is obscured by the body of a mandolin, held by its neck in one hand. Their short, dark hair is visible under an antique black-and-red military cap. End ID.]
(*almost historically accurate, and almost done)
After all this time!!!!! I started in September(?) and it’s now May but a lot of that was just putting off starting the twenty eight hand-done gimped and tailored buttonholes this ended up requiring because I can’t do anything by halves
If you’re wondering, I used this pattern, which worked wonderfully for me (special thanks to this tutorial too for demonstrating some of the more difficult parts), but I spent a long time trying to alter it to fit me, and to fit flatteringly, as I have never made a garment this complex before and I do not have the body an average men’s pattern expects. I had to do a lot of things multiple times over, but I’m really glad I did, because it’s definitely the most effort I’ve ever put into anything like this, and the finest sewing work I’ve ever done. I feel very dapper and handsome.
I did machine-stitch most of it because I knew, knowing me, that I could either end up with an ahistorically-sewn shirt or no shirt at all as I would procrastinate sewing all of that by hand just. Forever. I did hand-stitch a lot of it though, mostly the felled seams and fiddly collar bits. And the buttonholes. God so many buttonholes. The black edge is bias tape that I folded in half and ladder-stitched to itself through the shirt/collar fabric. (Also the horizontal seam you can see near the bottom in the lower picture exists solely because I didn’t have the fabric to cut the front out in one, and that part gets tucked into the pants anyway. Piecing is period.)
I’m still working on combining my various incomplete bits of antique cuff link and stud sets in the least-mismatched way, and the shirt itself is definitely not perfect (and there are still some minor adjustments I want to make), but all this to say I’m delighted with my work and excited to move onto the next item, which will probably be either the trousers or waistcoat, and I intend on documenting those too! I learnt so much from this experience and one day I’ll likely make another shirt much like it.
(Also, I’m happy to answer any questions about it!!! I know I could have used footsteps to follow in when I started this project)

what haikyuu men would buy for your birthday 🥳
starring - oikawa, daichi, ushi
tw! gn!reader x haikyuu men | oikawa is preggo- i mean reader is.. other than that.. nothin ;]
oikawa
this little bastard. he thinks he’s sooo funny. ngl he is. but you dont want to admit it. especially after seeing the gift he got you. he got you a fcking bib. yk those aprons babies wear bc they’re messy? yes. that. that little- anyways. you frowned at him and he started laughing hysterically. “not funny shittykawa” you said through clenched teeth. “im sorry but your reaction was priceless” he kept laughing. “youre a messy eater, accept it” you started pulling his hair which made him halt his actions. “oh then let me give you something!” you pulled something out of your pocket. “we’re positive!” and he fainted. (using halt makes me feel like a knight. ooh)
daichi
literally the actual knight and shining armor everyone has been dreaming about. so yk how hes an officer and like, their schedules are kinda whack sometimes. which means he wont be consistently coming home at the same time each day. so if he arrives home late, youre laying in bed alone. and he doesnt want you to feel alone going to sleep at night. that is why, he bought a giant teddy bear just for you to snuggle up on. daichi tried making it more special by even spraying on some of his cologne for the teddy bear to really represent him. lets say, daichi would grow jealous of the teddy bear at least once..
ushijima
a week prior to your birthday, there was a huge shipment sent right outside your door. it was a HUGE package. so you looked back inside your home, “‘toshi!! did you order something?” he was in the middle of putting the dishes back on the shelves. “no- wait actually yes! dont look at it babe!” he yelled while running out to the door with his giant steps echoing throughout the house. you felt the floor vibrating. “‘toshi you dont have to be so aggressive while running!” you replied. “sorry babe, but uh, please go back inside. this is just a.. a.. a new outdoor volleyball net!” he rubbed the back of his neck with a nervous giggle. you gave him a weird look, but listened. “alright… big boy” you said patting his shoulder and going back to doing the laundry. -a week later- ok! its finally the birthday. you opened all your presents, leaving a giant package left. “‘toshi isnt this yours?” you asked. he shook his head. “nope, its all for you” he winked. you blushed. you opened the gift wrap and the box. it was a tv inside. you shouldve known. “what is this for?” you asked. he gave you a simple answer of, “whenever im away for a game where you can’t be with me, you will always have this big screen tv to watch and support me no matter where i might be” then he pulled you into a warm bear hug. you thanked him with your words and also actions. LITTLE KISSY KISSYS!! you didnt just use the tv for his international games, you somehow connected it to your phone so now youre facetiming him through it. AND watching kdramas 😉
this was a short one 😴 i got lazy :;&/&:’sksjwjan

Day 39: Bradford, PA to Corning, NY
102 miles, 4,499ft ascent, 6:05
The brisk fall weather continued with a 43 degree start that necessitated the addition of a jacket to yesterday’s cold weather attire. At mile 25 we left Pennsylvania and entered our 12th state, New York!
With so much time to think on the saddle each day, it’s just natural to compare one state to another. For example, Michigan simply doesn’t bother to pick up roadkill. The section of Ohio that we rode had accountants name the roads; we rode on Nine Mile Road, Eleven Mile Road and Nineteen Mile Road (I’m not making that up). In NY we rode through numerous Glens and Hollows. In contrast to the last 20 miles of Pennsylvania, the first 20 miles of NY were marked with ramshackle, poorly maintained homes hosting permanent yard sales and auto salvage operations in their front yard.
The NY roads however were among the best we’ve ridden, with new asphalt (not the dreaded chip seal) and generous shoulders. As the slovenly homes gave way to tidy farms, it became clear that the generous road shoulders were intended for a horse and buggy, not a biker. The shoulders were 10ft wide and worn in the middle from horse hooves. At one point I passed two young men walking behind a team of large draft horses moving from one farm to the next. I gave them a very wide berth, not wanting to spook the horses.
By lunchtime, the clouds were beginning to break and I shed all my cold weather gear, leaving only my bibs and short sleeve jersey. This was a great decision as the temperature continued to rise, providing a truly spectacular day of fall riding in rural NY. This is another beautiful part of the country which I’ve never seen before. There is a special joy that comes from the feeling of wonder and discovery as you ride along unfamiliar rural roads with the wind at your back and the sun over your shoulder.
I was the first to arrive at the hotel in downtown Corning (a lovely small town hosting the Wineglass marathon next week). As I gathered my bags I learned that the Corning Glass Museum is less than a mile away and was closing in 2.5 hours. I took a quick shower, downed my protein recovery drink and ran to the museum. Truth be told, I’m not much of a museum person, but I really enjoyed this one. There’s something about the physical challenge of creating art with glass that I find intriguing. Obviously my time was limited, but I highly recommend the museum (I was even able to see a live demonstration).
Tomorrow’s forecast is for cold rain most of the day; we’ve only had one other day like that on the trip and the riders aren’t looking forward to a repeat. Even with the forecasted rain however spirits are high as we know we only have 6 riding days left!

Mens bib shorts
Men's bib shorts are a type of cycling shorts designed for male cyclists. They are a crucial part of a cyclist's apparel, providing comfort and functionality during long rides. Here are some key features and aspects to consider when it comes to men's bib shorts:
Bib Design:
Unlike traditional cycling shorts, bib shorts have built-in shoulder straps, forming a bib-like structure. This design helps keep the shorts securely in place without a waistband, preventing them from sliding down during rides.
Padding/Chamois:
One of the most important features is the chamois or padding. This padded insert is strategically placed in the seat area to provide cushioning and reduce friction between the rider and the saddle. The quality and thickness of the chamois can vary between shorts, so it's essential to choose one that suits your comfort preferences.
Material:
Bib shorts are typically made from stretchy and breathable materials, such as Lycra or a blend of synthetic fabrics. These materials offer a snug fit, wick away moisture, and provide freedom of movement.
Fit:
A proper fit is crucial for comfort and performance. Bib shorts should be snug but not too tight, and the bib straps should fit comfortably over the shoulders without causing irritation.
Leg Grippers:
Leg grippers at the bottom of the shorts help keep them in place and prevent riding up during cycling. Silicone or elastic bands are commonly used for this purpose.
Ventilation:
Look for bib shorts with mesh panels or breathable sections to enhance airflow and keep you cool, especially during warm weather rides.
Seams and Construction:
Flatlock seams are preferred as they reduce chafing and irritation. High-quality stitching and construction contribute to the durability of the shorts.
Brand and Model:
Different brands and models offer various features and fits. Some cyclists may prefer a particular brand based on personal experience or recommendations.
Budget:
Bib shorts come in a range of prices. While it's important to stay within your budget, investing in a good pair with quality materials and construction can enhance your overall cycling experience.
Before purchasing, it's advisable to try on different brands and models to find the one that fits your body shape and preferences best. Keep in mind that personal comfort varies, so what works for one cyclist may not work for another.
