I really want to read some Top Gun: Maverick fanfic. But there are several issues preventing me:

1) Movie is still so new that there's hardly been time for people to write any and the few that I've found on AO3 were mostly written before the movie came out so they're not even remotely related to canon.

2) Everyone I've seen who is talking about wanting to write Maverick fanfic are slash shipping or poly shipping, neither of which I like or enjoy.

3) And the majority of fanfic from the original Top Gun movie are all slash fics between Maverick and Iceman, and again, not my thing.

#i just want my found family fics #Mav being Rooster's father figure #Mav being the supportive stepdad for Amelia #and he and Rooster teaching her to fly #Penny being an ear for Rooster when he and Phoenix are having relationship issues #(because i ship Rooster and Phoenix)#Mav adopting the entire special squadron #Mav seeing himself in Hangman and mentoring him so he doesn't make the same mistakes Mav did
