“Arthur! Arthur, we landed on Boardwalk again!”
Anyways, a concept that is very near and dear to my heart is Arthur actually going back to Marie’s to visit and she ropes him into playing board games.
Because old people fucking love board games.
And John would get so into it. Concerningly into it? Competitive as hell. He’d start out all “This is a waste of time! We should be out looking for the Order, not sitting here playing games!” and then one hour in he’s all “Yes! Yes!! We have two railroads!! She owes us double!!”
Plus the shenanigans of Arthur trying to teach John how to play while he literally can’t speak to him out loud? Hilarious.
Harlan if you’re reading this, please, imagine a big monopoly game with the S4 characters, it would be so funny.

Powerful sea witch bewitching a vampire for power. Check. Freeing said vampire from your crazy mother? Check. And mate—when the spell backfires and now he thinks he loves you. A stand-alone paranormal/urban fantasy vampire romance from NYT bestseller Marie Harte.
Kaia has had it with her mother. Talk about touchy. Offend the sea witch and pay the price. Oy. Nearly sacrificing Kaia’s last boyfriend to a dark god had been totally unnecessary. And those deals her mother keeps making with demons to obtain more power? Not a healthy way to achieve balance.
To stop her mother from sacrificing some other poor sucker, Kaia sneaks into her mother’s lair and finds more intended sacrifices. But one of them has fangs.
Needing to get to safety before her mother returns and loses her mind, Kaia, a sea nymph, swims away with the vampire and soon learns he’s under a spell.
In order to cure him, she overrides her mother’s magic with her own, weak though it may be. But now this fanger—a freaking death-bringer who can swim like a merman—thinks he loves her. Curing Orion of the enchantment should have ended their association, but he’s still obsessed with her.
And for some reason, she’s obsessed with him as well. But the dark one to whom her mother promised a soul doesn’t care where it comes from. And since her mother has reneged on Orion, the dark one decides Kaia will do nicely in his place.

REVIEW : The Whole Package (Veteran Movers #1) by Marie Harte
The Whole Package Veteran Movers #1  Marie Harte June 05th 2017   Always the caretaker, former Marine Reid Griffith wants to help his brother adjust to civilian life…and help other former servicemen. What better way to utilize their brawn, discipline, and charm than a moving company that hires veterans? But although Reid prides himself on being strategic, he certainly doesn’t plan to…

actually now that i've rewatched td1 it's a bit funny that rust's philosophical musings ended up the most quotable because like. rust is wrong. it's kind of the point of the show that he's wrong
like no, time is not a flat circle, that's something that a deeply sad person is telling himself because 1. the big good thing he'd thought he did turned out to be a failure 2. doing 4d mental gymnastics to imagine the world as completely static where nothing ever changes saves him the hurt of hoping (and when he has his revelation at the end it's that the world is a story, which implies a dynamic and a direction)
(and incidentally, hey, this show sure loves them some spirals. wonder if a spiral is a popular schematic for something that incorporates both repetition and linearity, like time or history perhaps)
like....... td1 is a story about men who lie! to others and themselves! marty has his whole masculinity shtick, and whenever that doesn't do any good he doubles down and goes to argue that it's someone else's fault or Just How Things Are so he doesn't have to face sad truths about himself. rust's philosophy is, at least to some extent, an attempt to reason his way out of grieving ("my daughter dying was good for her And me actually!"), out of hoping and being heartbroken ("romance? that's not even supposed to work, everyone is just delusional"), out of internalising the horrible things he's seen/done/been through ("those murder victims were glad to die actually, everyone is a pre-programmed puppet anyway actually")
it's a story about men who are absolutely convinced that sincerity will ruin them, and construct elaborate lies to defend against it, and in the end they both break down and reach out (marty), confess (rust), connect and (begin to) heal through it because their previous belief was wrong and hurtful!

i finally watched headless: a sleepy hollow story and oh. my. god.
every line of dialogue, every shot, every costume, every tiny detail in the background of every scene, all of it was captivating.
my knowledge of the legend of sleepy hollow is extremely limited. when i was around five or six i watched the first fifteen minutes of the disney cartoon, before my grandmother shut it off saying it was "too scary" (although i disagreed. i was six, i wasn't gonna win) and that was the end of that.
but i don't need to be the #1 washington irving fan to know that shipwrecked did it right. it was comedic, it was spooky, it was heart-warming and heart-wrenching and i loved it.
i know of almost everyone in the cast from different projects, but they blend so beautifully here you forget you're watching a show (even with jon cozart breaking the fourth wall to beautifully sing at you)
so anyway if you haven't seen it yet, i highly suggest setting aside two and a half hours to watch this masterpiece (and all other shipwrecked masterpieces) because you will want to press play again right after.
alright i'm done being sappy but i just really loved it and i have a lot of feelings

Don’t Sleep on Headless
Hey everybody. Real talk time. If you want @shipwreckedcomedy to be able to keep making stuff, if you want to support female/POC indie creators, you need to watch Headless: A Sleepy Hollow Story. We NEED you to watch and share it.
youtube
Headless is it for us. We pulled out all the stops for this. This show cost us a quarter of a mil to make (thanks to you!). The four of us at Shipwrecked paid ourselves none of that. We’ve worked on this show for three years now. This is what we gambled on.
The response to the show thus far has been so positive, and we’re so happy! But even for the small channel that we are, and even with the INCREDIBLE cast who gave their time to be a part of this project, the views we’ve been getting on this show are fewer than we hoped.
youtube
I remember a few weeks into The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, Hank Green made a vlog talking about how the show wouldn’t be sustainable if it didn’t start getting more views. And it really helped! And that’s where we’re at. We can’t keep doing this if we don’t grow.
Don’t get me wrong, we are going to continue to put out Headless until Halloween and make it the absolute best show we can. But if we can’t grow as a company, we can’t keep making shows like this. It just isn’t sustainable for us.
youtube
We really thought this was gonna be the one to do it. We thought this was gonna be the thing to take us from small creators with less than 50K subscribers and a handful of views to a real, bona-fide channel with reach and influence that pulls the kind of viewership on our projects to match the amount of work we put into them. And I think it can be! It looks good enough to be on any streaming network. It makes me laugh every thirty seconds. But we are a small group and we NEED word of mouth for this show to succeed.
Shipwrecked is primarily female-run, making narrative content in a space where other (more successful) creators are predominantly male. I’m sorry to harp on this, but I can’t help but feel like we have to work so much harder to get the same amount (or a fraction) of attention.
youtube
The episodes we have yet to come in this show are so wild, so wacky, so Intense, and so heartfelt. SO many people put their hearts and souls into this show. I believe it can catch fire and become one of the most successful digital series out there. But WE NEED YOU TO WATCH IT.
The story we have playing out over the next few weeks is Shipwrecked at its most Shipwrecked. We have some surprises and reveals up our sleeves that I think you are really going to love. More than anything, we love unfolding a big story over a period of time and bringing people along for the ride. I’m so excited for you all to see what we have in store, and I promise you are going to want to do what you can to experience it in real time.
youtube
It’s free. It’s fun. It’s spooky. It’s funny. If you want Shipwrecked to be able to continue to make shows like this - original content, inspired by literature, with a mysterious twist and fresh humor - help us make Headless a success. We need you to take us there - we can’t do it on our own. ♥️💀🎃
Subscribe to Shipwrecked Comedy - support female driven literary inspired cinematic narrative content!

BHOC: THE SUPERHERO WOMEN
Back at Christmas 1978, I was working my way through the fourth and latest release in the ORIGINS OF MARVEL COMICS line of Trade Paperbacks from Simon & Schuster: THE SUPERHERO WOMEN. This book was a bit more of a mixed bag than the earlier ones and relied more on material that was more contemporary–the first issue of MS. MARVEL, which is reprinted here, was less than a year old. But that was a…

REVIEW : Smooth Moves (Veteran Movers #2) by Marie Harte
REVIEW : Smooth Moves (Veteran Movers #2) by Marie Harte
Smooth Moves Veteran Movers #2  Marie Harte  May 28th 2019   Ex-Marine Cash Griffith is a beacon for trouble. Working for the family moving company, he does his best to keep a low profile, but he can’t help finishing a fight someone else starts. There’s one person at work who annoys and baffles him. But if he even thought about taking her on, she’d put him down. Hard. Which is a real…

...........wait, what?
(this is from "time is a flat circle: examining true detective, season one" by melissa melazzo. context suggests this is about the "are we getting engaged" scene, but there's no key to be seen in the box?.....)
