I’m working on a MAP part for THIS awesome Marble Hornets-themed project, and I wanted to share a few of my favorite frames from my WIP! The final stretch of my part is going to include 7 halfbodies and 7 fully-rendered backgrounds though, so uh… it’s not gonna be done for a while. I did this to myself (but man, I think it’s gonna turn out cool at least!)

my part of an upcoming marble hornets multi animator project is complete! i had SO much fun with this after not animating for so long; i actually had to repurchase a key for my favorite program because i lost my old one a few years ago 😅

Silly little marble hornets rant

Okay so I was just thinking, a lot of people in the mh fandom overlook what Jay went through(I think because everyone else’s trauma is more obvious as we are literally told that Tim was in a mental hospital for most of his childhood). Personally I like to believe that Jay is the kind of person who cares(a little too much, we can see where that got him) a lot about the people around him, so much so that he’s willing to drop everything to help(the fact that he’s involved in Alex’s movies says a lot about their relationship, and how he immediately decided to continue his investigation when he received that tape from Alex)

What I’m saying is that he’s not stupid, he’s naive but no one sees his intentions.(he decodes the TTA videos after all) It pisses me off so much when the fandom shows him as a soft baby boy who can’t be violent because he CAN be violent and aggressive. He’s not innocent, he BROKE INTO BRIANS HOUSE, lies, definitely trespassed multiple locations. (he probably doesn’t pay taxes lol he broke asf how he survived I have no idea)

And people always mention how Tim has Masky and doesn’t know if he’ll wake up in his bed or in the middle of a forest miles away but no one thinks about how Jay must feel about his memory loss. Imagine how he felt watching himself on camera doing things while a faceless entity that he doesn’t fully understand stalks him and his friend but not remembering, or waking up in a hotel room he doesn’t recognise and having 7 months missing from his memory? (I would know from experience, I sleepwalk often and it’s terrifying sometimes because you wonder if one day you just won’t wake up or you’ll wake up with broken/sprained limbs) Tim may have the same problem but he’s been living with it for so long it’s normal, he’s gotten used to it.(yes, it’s still scary, but it’s been his life for as long as he can remember which isn’t a lot) For someone who hasn’t gone through memory loss before when you first realise it it’s fucking terrifying, which in this case is Jay. He’s never dealt with this before, he can’t possibly treat it like a normal thing that happens because he knows it’s not supposed to.

(Basically Jay isn’t dumb he’s just really fucking determined and loyal in my eyes, like really really determined…)

Just for the record, I’m not dismissing what Tim went through I’d just like to point out that the “dumb character” here isn’t dumb

This is Renn, a depressed forest ranger who realizes he’s managing an alter ego that apparently does magic & likes property damage.

Obsessed with the fact that while Hoody does wield a gun at a point in the series, his actual main weapons are a fuckin’ lead pipe and his fists. He may operate behind the scenes through most of the series but the second he doesn’t have Masky/Tim to fight for him, he’s not hesitating to beat the shit out of someone.

He full on WACKS Alex with no hesitation and drops him like a stone in Entry 67. He beats the shit out of Alex in the tunnel in Entry 76. He throws some punches at Tim during their fight in Entry 83.

Hoody seems so cold and calculating for most of his TTA Videos and appearances, but put him in any situation where he’s forced to make split decisions and he does not take long to choose violence.

My favorite HC is that Jay has whatever the fuck I have, so I like having him have similar problems

Such as:

“Tim, I know I’m awake at 3 am rn, but if I went to sleep before calling you at this time, someone was going to break into my house and murk me.”

Or

“Alex, I didn’t turn on the camera right I need to do it a set amount of times for it to feel right, otherwise the entire world will explode and we’ll all die.”

Or my personal favorite one

“I’m sorry that this is annoying you, but I actually need to press this button 3 times or I’ll die in the next 20 seconds”

crawling in here to say how much i love new-gen slenderverse that's popping up on youtube and tiktok and such!

its also funny that most series are done by people from the ages of 16-early 20's like the series that inspired them, but its also so cool knowing its such an unkillable thing. like it'll always be there and will always have our little resources that happen sometimes with new channels and new stories and new characters in this massive world started by some guys in 2009 with nothing but a camera and a vision!
