MG Motor, the Chinese-owned British brand, recently introduced the latest MG3 hatchback at the Geneva Motor Show. The car, which is set to compete with the Hyundai i20, will first hit the European market before making its way to other regions.

The next-gen MG3 hatch has been revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, with the brand’s local arm locking in a mid-year launch for the budget-friendly hatchback.

The 2025 MG3 is set to introduce a hybrid drivetrain that builds on the 1.5-litre petrol engine offered in the car, set to continue through the new model too.

But the addition of a hybrid drivetrain along with new safety features means the small MG will no longer hold its place as a sub-$20,000 offering in the Australian market.

The MG3 can make its first debut at the Chengdu Auto Show that will start on August 25 in China. Moreover, it will launch in overseas markets in 2024. One of the first overseas countries for the MG3 will be Australia. This information was confirmed by the MG Motor Australia and New Zealand CEO Peter Ciao. P.S. Looks like affordable electric hatchback! It is already well established in the European electric car market with a pretty good reputation for offering buyers reasonably sized good spec electric cars at reasonable prices. If the MG3 is conceptually as well engineered and priced as the MG4, then they will have a super good chance of expanding their presence not only in Australia or New Zealand, but also in the EU car market.
