HDGHDFJKG thank you!! but omg i can’t even get half the things i’m trying to do to look right, idek what i’m doing half the time just. moving pieces around until they look right in all honesty

but yeah i animate everything in after effects!! i clean up all the images and mask them in photoshop though. basically any part that i want to move i cut out and save as a separate image, and then redraw all of the parts that were underneath that (ngl i hate doing this more than actually animating stuff tho lol). so my files usually look something like this (i masked out all of the hair strands onto individual layers in after effects though too for the second one)

i use the puppet tool to pretty much animate everything, so i just add pins to areas i want to move and also to areas i want to keep stationary, then just drag them around in my keyframes. i also use the liquify tool a lot too though, like i have one segment in my mmv where i animated a character turning his head just through painstakingly brushing over areas and pushing them elsewhere until it looked right. i use it for clothes and a bunch of other things too. other things i just rotate/scale or use a combination of all of the above, like for eyes i’ll often scale them down for a keyframe if i have them opening and normally i cut out heads and have them rotate slightly, sometimes with arms too if they’re moving. i also have all my different layers as 3d layers and put different elements on different z indexes to use cameras with so i can have dimensional moving backgrounds and things coming closer to the camera

but yeah mostly just??? puppet pins and moving stuff around until it looks right. and a lot of time and patience dsagskjdhg. like these are all the pins just for one guy’s hair in a clip that’s less than a second long

Today is something a little bit darker. This is a scene from the skit in Tales of the Abyss where Luke is trying to wrap his head around his impending doom. The voice acting in this skit was so incredible and I've always wished I could convey the same amount of emotion he had in his words in my artwork.
