Today’s installment of “I watch Hayden Christensen’s filmography and tell you how pretty he is in it” is Vanishing on 7th Street (2010)
Hayden plays Luke, a local newscaster who wakes up to find nearly everyone in the city has mysteriously disappeared after a blackout. With a small group of survivors he fights to keep the ever encroaching darkness away.
How pretty is he in it?
Tumblr media
He’s still in what I call the “Jumper-haircut” era which isn’t my favorite but for a guy 3 days into an apocalyptic event he looks pretty dang good here. (also I don’t know if this will make sense but “newscaster” is a perfect job for a Hayden character, he’s got the “good looking in an approachable way” thing newscasters should have)
Tumblr media
Does he get drenched at some point? Sadly no classic Hayden drenching in this one, just some scenes with him very sweaty but still fully clothed. 1.5 💦 out of 5.
Tumblr media
How’s the movie itself: I don’t know if it’s because I by default go into these Hayden movies with pretty minimal expectations but I actually rather liked this one? It’s billed as horror but is much more character-driven suspense with nearly no gore, which happens to be just my speed of “horror”. It has an effectively creepy atmosphere and I like the way we learn about the characters mostly through visuals and little clues. It’s definitely light on explanations, maybe a little too light on action and has a “wait it’s over?” kind of ending. The strong performances all around make up for a lot of the movie’s flaws, though does't quite overcome them.
Is the Rotten Tomatoes score unfairly low? Shockingly it’s not. It stands at nearly 50% which feels about right.
Surprise Star Wars!: Hayden playing someone named Luke who at one point is fending off the darkness with a stick of light gets a “I see what you did there” from this SW fan.
In short: I found this to be a decent October evening watch, creepy and moody, with good performances from our boy and the rest of the cast buoying a somewhat thin plot.

The Graham Effect (Campus Diaries Series) by Elle Kennedy
“I know I have my flaws. But I need to level up to be with this woman. She forces me to be better. I want to be better for her. I want to be her hero.”

Thanks to Get Red PR and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review*
✩🏒🦋Review:
I could not be more grateful to Kennedy for revisiting the Briar Universe with her Campus Diaries series!
“The Graham Effect” follows Gigi Graham, the daughter of the legendary hockey player Garrett Graham, as she tries to make a name for herself by qualifying for the women’s national hockey team. In order to improve her game behind the net, she makes a deal with Luke Ryder, Briar’s new hockey co-captain. In exchange for a few practice sections, Gigi agrees to put in a good word for him with her dad so that he can get the summer coaching spot he so desperately wants. The only snag? The chemistry between them that is impossible to ignore.
If I’m being honest, I don’t normally reach for “next generation” stories. I find that they don’t live up to the stories that paved the way for them and they lack a certain something. All this being said, “The Graham Effect” is THE exception. I found myself loving this book just as much as I loved the Off-Campus series and it’s all thanks to the addictive quality I’ve come to associate with Kennedy’s writing.
Gigi and Luke are my new favorite couple. Alternating between their perspectives deepened their romantic tension and mutual pining, making my heart race. Most of all, I loved that they could be vulnerable with and push each to be better.
I would be remiss if I did not touch on the cameos made by the characters that started it all! I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with Garrett, Hannah, Logan, Dean, and Jake. Their brief appearances are memorable without taking away from Gigi and Luke’s love story.
I cannot wait to see which child of this new generation will be the protagonist of book 2!

I love them so much y’all don’t even understand every couple of years decades really there’s a couple or on screen ship that’s so insanely good with palpable chemistry and sexual tension that my brain chemistry gets altered in way that’s not for the sane people the serotonin and buzz be so strong no dr*yg could ever make me feel that way! that even tho logically I’m my mind I know it’s just acting and they are doing their job incredibly annoyingly well I still believe it with all my heart that they are in fact dating and are happy and aren’t just saying anything because they don’t wanna let people in on their life which is fair I know it’s wrong and silly and just very dvmb bc it’s just acting very very phenomenal brilliant acting but damn and 80% of the time they were or ended up as couple later on sure few weren’t and didn’t but it all started with JD/WR BP/AJ Sandra x Keanu, Jake x Anne Kiera x James(James with anyone really Christina Anne) Anne Kiera with anyone too, Margot x Will, Ian x Nina, Sophia x Austin, Ryan x Sarah (this one hurts still bc wdym they dated longer then they was alive on the show?) sometimes the actors be doing not even a bit to much but wayyy over the board to much actually, Nicole x Micheal then came stonefiled then came Haesoo jisoo x haein and now we are here in this dilemma that should get into a psych ward next to the riddler joker and penguin with lukenewton and nicolacoughlan they are the worst too

I fight with my mind constantly telling myself it’s just acting then I be like really is it? Is it really just acting that kinda of unhinged chemistry brilliance cant just be acting it’s to much to be acting only😂! be careful the brain plays tricks on you and so the actors bc to them it’s just a job while to others(me) it’s a straight jacket signs and mental illness signs! Clear sign of breakdown
