Lovely Chapter 1: Lane’s POV
I looked at the clock on my dashboard and sighed. The road seemed like it stretched on for hours. I looked over at my boyfriend, Jake. He was slumped over, his head on the window. Guess the four hour drive tuckered him out, too. I thought. After a moment of driving, the road became an entrance to a large garage. It was packed full of people. I nudged Jake until he woke up.
“We're here.” I said. Jake looked at me, and then stuck out his tongue. We had been dating for around two and a half years at the time, and had finally saved up enough money to afford a small apartment we were gonna share with our friend Charlotte. Sure, it was hours away from our families in Connecticut, but it was worth it. The apartment we were renting was small, but would suffice to our everyday needs.
“Okay, I'll get the boxes from the trunk, can you get our suitcases?” Jake asked as he opened the door of my 2018 Honda Civic. I nodded, and hopped out of the car. I opened the door to the back, and pulled out our suitcases.
“Hey, dumbass,” I said, looking at my idiotic boyfriend. “You can't carry four boxes at once, you're gonna drop them all.” I reached out and snatched one of the boxes from his grasp.
“I'm so lucky to have such a caring boyfriend,” Jake said, exaggerating on the caring part.
“Keep up the attitude and you're not gonna have a boyfriend.” I added with a menacing grin. Jake looks at him with a face of horror. They both burst out laughing.
“Okay, enough jokes. I'm tired. Let's go inside.” He said. We walk to the door, and check in with the receptionist. Hand in hand, we walked out the stairs and reached our apartment. Jake opened the door.
“Oh my god, this place looks…like a dump.” Jake says. I looked around.
“For once in your pathetic life, you're right,” I say, looking at my lover. “This is not what I was expecting.” I stare at our “new” apartment. There was peeling wallpaper, a leak in the roof, and miscellaneous items the previous tenants probably left.
“Now that I think about it, I'd rather move back in with Ellis and Demi.” Jake mumbles.
“You're not moving back in with your siblings, dummy. Well make it work, we always do.” I said, trying to motivate him. We placed down the boxes and suitcases, and made our way to the bedroom.
The bedroom was probably the nicest room of them all. The wallpaper was still pelling, but there was a somewhat clean mattress for us to sleep on.
“I found the box with the pillows and comforter, Lane!” Jake calls from the other room.
“Okay, bring em’ in here!” I yelled from the bedroom. I  looked at the doorway as Jake entered, carrying two pillows, a comforter, and a bedspread.
“Your materials, good sir.” He said in a British accent. I laughed as I took the sheet from his hands.
“Thank you, my love.” Lane said, blowing him a kiss.
I plopped down on the bar stool at the kitchen island. I shook his head from the thoughts about my recent struggle of trying to get the sheets on the bed, just as Jake walked into the room. He looks at me with a smile before walking over and sitting next to me.
“You know when Char’s gonna get here?” He asked.
“I dunno. She was probably having some heart to heart with Alli and Jamie, and knowing her luck her truck got a flat or something. I’m sure she’ll be here soon.”
“Yeah. Anyways, I’m hungry, and we don’t have food in our fridge. So, I say we order pizza.”
“Shouldn't we wait for Char?” I ask.
“Probably. But I’m hungry and she’s always late for everything. So I say we order without her, and she can have the scraps.”
“Jake, no. She’s our best friend. We’re waiting for her.”
“But I want food.” Jake complained with a pleading expression.
“But I don’t care. We’re waiting.”
“Why must you put me through such torture?” “Oh, don’t be dramatic.” I sigh. Jake frowns.
“Aw, come on Lane, don’t be mad.”
“I’m not mad. Just slightly annoyed.” Jake got up and pulled me into a hug.
“I’m sorry. I know I’m annoying.” He seemed genuinely upset with himself.
“Don’t be sorry. It’s okay. You didn’t do anything wrong.” I smiled and kissed Jake on the cheek, causing his face to turn bright red. “I’m going to take a shower. Let me know if Char shows up.”

The official synopsis for AWAE season 3 has me seriously fucked up - Anne wanting to know more about her birth parents, the town meeting Ka'kwet and her people, Bash and Mary settling into domestic life, final year of school, FIRST LOVE AND ROMANCE, THERE'S SO MUCH GOING ON AAAAAAH
Thank you for telling me :)
Anne wanting to know more about her birth parents: I mean, I’m not surprised. I’m in my final year of high school right now, and this year is basically dedicated to finding our own identity to pass into a new era of our life. Who are we, and who do we want to be? I assume Anne will be struggling with the same, even more because she doesn’t exactly know where she comes from. Who were her parents, what we’re they like, does she resemble them (physically/mentally)? I’m sure Anne won’t break bonds with Marilla and Matthew, but it’s understandable for her to question her origins.
The town meeting Ka’kwet: I assume this is First Nations people? I remember Moira holding a casting call for indigenous people! This storyline, if handled tastefully, is going to be so exciting! Anne With An E will further explore forgotten and hidden stories that we’ve erased from western history due to circumstances. (Guilt, I assume.) First we had Bash and Cole’s sexuality, which both were prevelant in that time but unspoken, now we’ll have the indigenous people! I went to the Canadian Museum of History last summer and their history is so rich and complicated. It’ll be interesting to see unfold on screen.
Bash and Mary settling into domestic life: kill. me. now. @shirbertss WE ARE GETTING A MASH BABY IM CALLING IT NOW AND IF NOT THEYRE GOING TO BABY GILBERT ESPECIALLY MARYBut aside form that, we’ve encountered plenty of racism in s2, so it’ll be super interesting to see the town adapt and get used to them being part of the community. (A great movie that also explores similar topics is “Mudbound”, I heavily recommend)
Final Year Of School: If Anne and co aren’t all sitting in the back of the class being little shits as the younger kids in front are being very attentive i will sue the entire company.
First love and romance: lowkey betting on Diana/Jerry ; Diana/Charlie ; or if we follow the book: Diana/Fred, but Fred hasn’t been introduced so idk. For some reason I think, in lieu of romance, Ruby will let go of her crhs on Gilbert and perhaps mature a little in her perception of love. In my fics I always make Josie and Billy a couple and I don’t know why but why not?? And then obviously shirbert. Iconic.
I do like how the storylines seem intertwined and not as sporadic as season 2 where many subplots were going on. School and romance kind of go hand in hand, whilst the Ka’kwet might trigger Anne to look into her past as they have their very own identity AND probably will have a lot of contact with Bash and Mary as the only black people in the village.
