I’m trying to plan out my Teal Mask team because I want to try to use new pokemon, and make a team that’s cute. Don’t care about type coverage or base state totals, i just want cute.
Dipplin is a must, I gotta have my little candy apple baby. And it’s two tiny dragons living inside the same apple? This too is yuri. Also I already got a shiny Applin all set to evolve.
Sinistcha is also definitely going to be on the squad. I love Polteageist and I’m so happy to have a matcha version of this little guy. And I love object mons.
Chandelure is next. I’m so excited to have the Litwick line back. One of my top favorites. I want to shiny hunt the whole family. Also, I’ve got a candy apple, some tea and a spooky little candle. The team is giving some autumn vibes thus far.
Ursaluna might not be conventionally cute, but I love this big cranky bear. I had a shiny one in PLA that I named Trinket. I’m excited to get the new Blood Moon form. Also, bears are kind of autumny animals since they’re fattening up in the fall to hibernate. Still fits the autumn theme.
I want Quagsire on my team, and I’m gonna argue it’s still autumn themed because giant salamanders also hibernate in the winter. Ursaluna and Quagsire are hibernation buds. Clodsire was a staple of my Scarlet playthrough, and now I want the OG big silly salamander.
Not sure about the last one. Maybe Mightyena? It’s a cute doggy. And it looks kind of like a werewolf, which is Halloween vibes, which is autumn vibes. Rounds out the Fall Squad.

Here is my team. I think a Bastiodon could vibe with them well.
Tumblr media
Ooh thats quite the mix there! So I have a decent base level of knowledge for a good chunk of pokemon, but I'm not an expert, so be sure to consult with other specialists if you're in doubt
Bastiodon can be slow to adapt to change, a trait somewhat associated with being part steel type, but is moreso to do with their lifestyle and habitat. I mean, when you're built with a wall for a face, why should you move when the world can rotate? Either way, be patient, and don't rush anything, because a spooked block of a pokemon is real hard to calm down again. If you're wanting to really stay on the cautious side, feel free to come in for acclimation sessions within the dome while the bastiodon is still in a familiar environment (though we tend to help do the reverse frequently to our mons that we're fairly sure can be adopted out)
Your sawsbuck looks like the prime candidate for first introductions, especially in their winter coat temperament. I'd be tempted to encourage the two to graze and exist together for a while (supervised, of course) so when seasons change, the form change comes as less of a shock to bastiodon. Camerupt can also apply to this, to an extent, as a lazy grazer. If you have a fiesty specimen, I would leave introductions to much later however
For espeon and shuckle, I can't immediately foresee any issues providing their temperaments aren't too skittish or aggressive. However with shuckle, I'd go for an extended introduction through a door or gate (or equivalent at such size) because…Well, unfortunately, shuckles smell tasty. Get it used to the scent before the sight. A pokemon like bastiodon won't have seen anything like a shuckle before, and as tough as the little bug guys are, a bastiodon has more than enough bulk to crack one open if they wanted to. (I think this could apply to dachsbun too, but less so in that their scent isn't necessarily associated with food to a herbivore. But also because I've never worked with them before and don't know what they're like. Consult an expert!)
Chandelure however, I'd be wary of introducing for a while. I don't know what yours is like, if it's partial to mischief or feeding on things it's not supposed to, but the visible open flames are likely to spook your new buddy at first, plus the non-corporeal movements will keep your defensively-swayed tank on edge.
I know some of this might sound pedantic, but don't forget, even things like Weird-Shaped Tree are brand new and potentially spooky to a fossil pokemon! The air tastes different, the sun is a different colour, and all the food tastes Slightly To The Left. We hope to see you in centre soon!

The Gligar Family
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gligar is a wonderfully creative mesh of ideas, combining traits of a bat with a scorpion of all things, and making a little bipedal cartoon scamp for good measure. Despite being such different animals, it’s surprising just how well the two mesh together to form Gligar. It doesn’t feel like the scorpion claws or stinger tail are pasted onto this bat design haphazardly, and I struggle to picture what Gligar would look like with normal mammalian hands.
Surprisingly, Gligar is actually a Ground/Flying type rather than the expected Poison/Flying, but I think it works just as well. Gligar seems like a desert-dwelling critter, so thus has a type to match. While it may make use of poison, it’s not a major part of its anatomy like other Poison types so is kind of a latent additional typing, like Psyduck and Golduck not actually being Psychic types.
Gligar still makes apt use of its flight and stinging tail, though, said to drop down from above and latch on to unwitting targets and stab them repeatedly with its stinger. I’m glad Gligar got a brief stint in the anime where it did this frequently to other characters as a sign of affection. Between that and its default expression always involving sticking its tongue out, there feels like quite a bit of character going on with this little bugbat.
Tumblr media
Luckily, things only improve in Gen 4 when Gliscor is brought into the picture. It’s an excellent successor to Gligar, now featuring a more gothic color scheme of purple, black, and red, bigger batty ears and piercing yellow eyes, with even larger scorpion pincers to boot. The red bits are neat too since they seem like they could be read as Gliscor’s more fleshy body, unprotected by the purple carapace on the rest of its body. I think one of my favorite parts of Gliscor though is its new wings, now spread out behind it like an open cape. It really makes Gliscor feel like the most classically vampiric Pokemon of the entire roster, even if it really has nothing to do with gothic bloodsuckers.
Something else that I find really cool about Gliscor is its hidden ability, Poison Heal. When most Pokemon are afflicted by the Poisoned status, they take damage every turn. Gliscor, however, heals some of its HP back every turn that it’s poisoned instead! This also has the benefit of protecting Gliscor from nastier statuses, like Burn which has the side effect of cutting Attack power in half. Gliscor is such a nasty scorpion bat that being filled with toxins is actually healthy for it on average!
Tumblr media
Perhaps it’s been pretty obvious with some of these recent Johto ‘mons, but spooky Halloween vibes are something I enjoy quite a bit, and I’ve got to say Gliscor is one of the Halloweeniest out there, without being a Ghost, Dark, Bug, or even Poison type! Scorpions have never really been associated with Halloween before, to my knowledge, but Gliscor makes an excellent case for it.
I also love that Gliscor doesn’t become some sort of menacing beast once it evolves, either. It’s still the same scamp that Gligar was, especially in the anime where it retains the somewhat timid and playful personality it had in its first form. Just look at that toothy smile! Gliscor is a fun-loving predator of the night.
Score: 5/5 - PERFECT!
Tumblr media
Gligar completes a great trio of spooky ‘mons that received excellent evolutions in Gen 4, alongside Murkrow and Misdreavus, and Gliscor really stands out as one of my favorites in the series thanks to its creativity and unique battle prowess.

A recent commission. "A crow mon, with dark, mischievous, spooky vibes." The client wanted it to look kind of like a different bird commission I did, and I also took a little bit of inspiration from Murkrow.

Hey, let’s talk about aesthetics
(Written for a school newspaper)
To the readers of the Chariot,
In case you haven’t gone outside recently, surprise, it’s cold. I know, shocker. This- I’d hope- would inspire a change in aesthetics for some. For the purposes of this article, aesthetics are to be defined by a certain look, mood, or vibe. This means it applies to clothes, accessories, and anything else that can be decorated, modified, or chosen specifically. This also means that any and all adults most likely stopped reading the second they saw the word “vibe.” For those that stuck around, I’m not sorry, this isn’t for you, and very little of this will make sense. That being said, let’s talk about some killer fall/winter aesthetics.
First on the list, inspired by my recent love of sweaters, is Academia as a whole. Academia, as a descriptor, is defined by being related to college or further scholarship. Academia, as an aesthetic, is defined by little london boy being sent to private school, among many other things. We’ll begin with the fit, see here at least two layers, usually a sweater over a button down. Color tones are usually browns in combination with darker shades. Jewelry, specifically in shades of gray, is always appreciated, and books of some kind are necessary. The aesthetic is versaille, ranging from scruffy rebel still forced to wear the uniform, to loner art kid with fingertips stained with charcoal/graphite, to preppy charismatic leader who may or may not be the villain of the story.
Next off is Halloween! It’s Halloween season and I refuse to admit anything otherwise. My friend you need black, you need orange, you need purple. Mon amie you’re gonna need some fake blood and an absurd amount of makeup. No I don’t care that it’s September, it’s Halloween season. Wear those fake teeth! Those black cat thigh highs are necessary! That witch hat headband does not violate the dress code! (it very well actually might, and I hereby deny any and all responsibility that comes from the making of this statement) It is spooky season and I will not shut up about it, we diehard fans of Halloween are the only thing that stops Christmas from encroaching even further. You cower behind our DIY costumes, as we collectively confront the horde of snowmen. We and our “needless obsession for spirit Halloween” make up the STALWART SHIELD PROTECTING YOU NON-BELIEVERS FROM THE JOLLY RED MAN AND HIS HORDE OF ELVES. WE WILL NOT STAND DOWN, WE WILL NOT SHUT UP, WE WILL DEFEND THE HALLOWEEN SPIRIT, BOTH THE AESTHETIC, THE SPECTER, AND THE POP-UP STORE! Ahem…
I got really excited about the first two, as they are my favorites. Not nearly as much detail will be given for the rest, but y’all have instagram and TikTok, It’s not as if they’re hard to find. Starting off with Goblin-core, meaning greens and browns and ratty clothing. Congratulations, your compulsion to grab random things that you personally think are cool can now be spun as “dedication to the aesthetic.” There’s grunge, needing a band tshirt, a flannel, and jeans. Next up is goth, all black, all the silver, all the time. May I introduce to you corvid-core: goblin core in random items, but all black and well put together in clothing. Also on the list is cryptid-core, because mothman is cool and everyone needs to appreciate that. Everyone also needs to appreciate simple eye imagery and all sorts of other cryptids. Just for the men, it’s “straight?” where the fit is fire, you’re wearing jewelry/nail polish, and you look too good for people to fully believe that you’re hetero. For those looking to achieve this look, ask your girlfriend for advice on what to wear. For those who are rather decidedly not straight, try queer-core, where anything and everything works, so long as it looks amazing and is a little bit weird. Under this aesthetic falls different colored makeup, mashups of other styles, and subtly/not so subtly incorporating the colors of whatever your current identity is. You’re valid and I love your earrings.
Fair warning, looking up these different aesthetics can and will push your algorithm into wanting to give you more ideas. This article is mostly just meant to start your journey into all that, there’s so much more to find outside of this specific instance. If we’re looking for more ideas still, here’s just the names of some more aesthics: cabincore, adventurecore, cottagecore, skatewear, Victorian, glitchcore, fallwear, pink goth, white goth, ska, androgynous, steampunk, cyberpunk, biker, pastel core, carnivalcore, casinocore, fairycore, femfatalle, feral, emo, indie, punk, and electroswing. There are still so many more I’ve yet to mention. What this means is that you have no excuse to just wear a sweatshirt and basketball shorts. Please, I’m begging you, no more basketball shorts, enough is enough, you’re giving high school boys a bad name. They’ve already ruined their image, you don’t need to add to that. Regardless of what you wear or what aesthetic you ascribe to, be confident in yourself. You deserve it. Last but not least, don’t forget that WE ARE THE ONLY THING PROTECTING YOU FROM THOSE BELLS JING-A-LINGING, AND WE WILL DIE BEFORE THAT COOKIE EATER SHOWS HIS SORRY FACE BEFORE OCTOBER.
-Sincerely, Blue

"Don't get me started" no we're getting you started, ramble about some music you're really liking at the mo <3
tumblr user loudly--unladylike my beloved .,.. be warned this is rlly long n also just a lot of me going !!!!!! link to the album here
big tw for like. deep topics like death n panicking n such also this is such a long post im so sorry
ok :D background knowledge about the band n the album im gonna b talking about:
miracle musical itself was like... a music project started by one of the tally hall members !! it involves alot of other music artists too !!! they made an album n a single song!! both of those released in 2012 :]
the album is called Hawaii: Part II. there's not a part one and the band has even said theyr not making a part one.!! so that kinda sets the vibe ig. the songs don't have much correlation from first glance, even after taking a closer look they don't tell a story or anything that much !!! the thing the have in common is a mystical, often spooky, feeling (at least 2 me.) most of them have a nautical, sealife theme.
first note!!! both the first and last songs of the album start with the lyrics "alone at the edge of a universe, humming a tune-" which is like!!! continuity my beloved :]] it's also just a good lyric yknow
the first song is called Introduction to the Snow !! kinda a play on words of introduction to the show :]] it doesn't hav many lyrics but it sets the tone for the rest of the album!!! which is like... vaguely mysterious and dealing with the universe n how ppl feel kinda!
ok here's where i mention how the songs like. flow together!!! theres a variety, from the songs merging together with the same rhythms n such or a very sudden change !!!! its rlly cool n i like how there's both :)))
the second song is called Isle Unto Thyself! some of the first bits of this song rlly just ...,,., sets the vibe for the rest of the album!! the lyrics "know what cant be shown, feel what cant be known" is very releant as alot of the songs r abou tfeeling things n knowing things!! even if u cant see them !!! also banger ending transistion to the next song, tehres a buildup that transitions nicely !!!
the third song is Black Rainbows :D this ones one of my favorites!! there r two languages being sung in this one, hawaiian and english. both are singing about rainbows, which represents their love for eachother in the way of the colors and the feelings!! :D
- ok im realizing i forgot to talk about the uhhh album cover!!! it is in mostly greyscale, except for the rainbow text of the band name under the album name!!! it is an ocean with a full mon above, with overlaying images of palm trees, stairs, and a fish/monster with alot of teeth!!!! there is also what appears to be a whale or maybe plane in the backgrounf, sumberged inthe water!! to me it rll y just summarizes the mystery n like. wackyness of the album :DD
Tumblr media
ok um back 2 the songs !!!! the forth song is called White Ball!! it tackles dealing with death in like... terms of a dance!! like a ballroom dance, at a ball! the most repeated lyric is "such impossible bliss" which. yeah. death yknow,,,.. it shows the beuaty of whatever the afterlife is. it also makes comparisons to space!!!
the fith song is called Murders! which to me feels like,, runnning away and the fear that causes? or someone gettin lost in a forest!! definetly feels like.. fear. espeacially the lines "tree falling no one would hear, shadow of nobody there" like. dude thats FEAR n yknow what i get it!!! forests can b fucking scary dude.
the sixth song is 宇宙ステーションのレベル7, which roughly translates to Space Station Level 7! this song is mostly japanese n french, neither of which i speak! so uh.,,., yeha!! bu t i do fukcign love the intruments-
oh ym gosh i forgot to talk abou tthe bacground intruments and music!!!!!!! its so good!! each song has its own little flairs and they all r just... wonderfulyl composed!!!!
now,,, the seventh song is The Mind Electric,.,. (tw for just like. idk dude its super grim the guy gets electrocuted) this one is like.. rlly haunting but its super good!! so the first half of the song is all in reverse, which sets up this like.. rlly eerie tone for the song. bc. u dont know whats going on at first! bc its all reveresd n u know the like... idk its creepy hearing ppl talking/singing backwards. from the halfway point, the song isnt in reverse any longer. dude,,, like the lyrics themselves? ouchies.... basically this guy goes to court for... somethin its not told- but uh basicallly he gets sent to an infirmary and ends up gettinf electrocuted bc his minds not in a good place. its super grim n honestly just... man,,,,,, i could explain more on this but itd probably b better as its own post tbh !!!
,,,the eighth song is Labyrinth! this one seems to b mostly about someone whos in this big.. personal struggle with love + relationships n feels trapped inhis own mind, hence the labyrinth.
the ninth song is Time Machine !! this ones pretty straightforward i think!!! kinda. this person feels like the wasted thier past and is sad and regretful. so they use a time machine!!! it feels like they are living the dream, right? but its lonely!! they begin to regret it. they realize they shouldnt waste their present.
the tenth song is Stranded Lullaby! lots of boat references n terminology here, the singer is looking for someone who they once lost, but cant seem to find them in the vast oceans of existence.
the eleventh and final song is called Dream Suite in Sea Major!!! this ones also one of my favorites !!!! this one rlly just wraps up the album. it tells the story of a sailor who gets lured in by sirens. it ends with a subtle nod to the album not being super easy to find with the lyrics "invisible to some until its time."
OK i probably did this way too much uhhh woo post finished im tired!!!!! i will explain more into some of these if ppl r interested :]]

SBDJSJS ALL OF THEM???? I MEAN I GUESS IF YOU'RE SURE??
@tsundere-doods
ARROWVERSE (The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl)
In all Arrowverse AUs, my SI is a metahuman from Earth-1 with energy-based powers. I primarily exercise control over electricity, movement, and gravity, but with practice I could probably expand my repertoire to include light, heat, elasticity, radioactivity, sound-- all sorts of things. During my time on Teams Flash and Arrow, I go by the moniker Switchboard, and then in my Team Arson AU, Lonnie and Astra (@astralshipper) call me Sparks.
In The Flash, my primary f/o is Cisco Ramon, and we have that best friends to lovers thing going on. I also love Becky Sharpe, although I don’t talk about her much! She’s girlfren, and I’m poly with the two of them in my Flash-centric Arrowverse AU-- she’s not dead, hush, I save her life and canon can eat my entire ass tbh.
I don’t have a romantic f/o on Arrow, but John Diggle is like a brother to me. I don’t have an AU that focuses solely on Team Arrow, because it’s not a primary thing for me, but when I’m on the team, it’s because I’m taking a break from Team Flash.
In my Supergirl-centric AU, instead of joining Team Arrow after leaving Team Flash, I actually use some of Cisco’s tech to hop on over to Earth-38 to make a new life for myself. Eventually, I end up helping out Team Supergirl, because once you start superheroing it’s not really something that has an off switch, and that’s how I meet Winn Schott. He and I click almost immediately and we have a best friends to lovers type thing similar to what Cisco and I had. I also have a small crush on both Lena Luthor and Mon-El, but I haven’t decided if I’m gonna do anything about it yet.
Finally, there’s the Team Arson AU, which isn’t really based on any of the shows in particular, but rather on one of the villains of Arrow: specifically, Lonnie Machin. This AU starts after I leave Team Arrow because of Oliver, John, and Felicity’s actions toward the newer team members; incensed by the hypocrisy of my fellow heroes, I run into Astra (@astralshipper) and Lonnie, who have turned into sort of an anti-hero team, and I join forces with them. This sometimes leads to problems when my ex-teammates come after us, but we handle it.
And last but not least, I actually forgot to mention, but there is an offshoot AU of the Team Arson storyline; it doesn’t have a catchy name, so I just call it the Team Arson and Michael AU, because it’s essentially the same thing as the regular Team Arson one except it incorporates Michael Collins from The Uniques as a new hero. In this AU, I eventually leave Team Arson to form a power-couple duo with Michael and go back to being a hero, mostly.
AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER (A:TLA)
Not totally sure what my whole deal is going to be here, but I’m definitely an airbender. I know in canon they’re wiped out, but I’m just saying, there could definitely be a few in hiding; who’s to say all of them were at the air temples when the Fire Nation attacked? The air nomads were a highly mobile people, so yeah, while those were the hubs of activity, I don’t see it being where every single one of them would’ve been.
Anyway, I don’t have a romantic f/o in this series, but the Gaang in general is just a little family I’d like to be a part of. In particular, Aang has little brother vibes, and I’m definitely gonna take him under my wing; I think it would be good for him to have another airbender around, and it would be cool to see how a traditional air nomad would interact with one whose views and values have been shaped by a century of other cultures dominating the world. It’s definitely sad, because cultural loss is a huge part of genocide, but it would be neat to see how the surviving families passed down that culture and mixed it with that of the world around them. Like, it would be a little bit of home for Aang, but also sort of like... a hope for something new, I guess? I dunno, I’m spitballing here
CRIMINAL MINDS
My SI timeline isn't the most well-defined for this one yet, but one thing I've decided on is that I pretty much end up adopting, fostering, and taking in kids that need help. Currently, it's sort of just... been the kids that are victimized during the team's cases, but that's a byproduct of the source material rather than a conscious decision.
In Criminal Minds, I ship with Spencer Reid and Emily Prentiss, who are my boyfriend and girlfriend, respectively; we’re poly, but they’re not dating each other. They are queerplatonic, though! Fun fact, I’ve adopted Hotch and Rossi as my dads; Hotch is the primary father figure, and Rossi was kind of like, uncle vibes? Until I realized how much romantic tension there is between the two of them, and now he’s like, stepdad. Hotch already sees Spencer as a son, and he’s close with Emily, so this works out really well.
EVER AFTER HIGH
In EAH, I’m the eldest child of the White Rabbit-- yes, the one you know from the story of Alice in Wonderland. (Don’t ask how that works, because I don’t know.) Anyway, I was born and raised in Wonderland, along with my younger sister, Bunny. (Yes, her name is Bunny Rabbit.) Things were alright until sometime in my early teens when the Evil Queen tried to basically destroy the world of wonder; it was crazy and chaotic, and very few Wonderland folk managed to escape to Ever After before the Brothers Grimm closed the portals between the two worlds. I was among the handful that escaped: my sister, father, and friends were not. I was all alone in an unfamiliar world, and man, was that scary. Luckily, I was still school-aged, so it was easy enough to get a place to stay at the Grimms’ school-- Ever After High.
I’ve got crushes on Raven Queen, Alistair Wonderland, Dexter Charming, Chase Redford, Northwind, and Cedar Wood, but no established romance.
HARRY POTTER
Okay, so there are a few different timelines and AUs for this franchise. We’ll start with the most established one. Obviously, I’ve got the obligatory AU where I’m there for everything from the very beginning, but there’s also one I thought of back in middle school which goes something like this: I’m newly orphaned, so I’ve been sent to live with a relative in the UK. It’s the year of the Quidditch World Cup, not that I know anything about it, because my parents were Muggles and so is the great-aunt-twice-removed or whomever it is I now live with. I’m out for a walk, trying to clear my head and familiarize myself with the new neighborhood; out the back of the house, there’s a forest in the distance, hills, and marshland which seem suitably spooky and melancholy for my mood, so I head out exploring that way. After a while, I hear noise, like celebration and shouting, so I head over to check it out and stumble across the tent-grounds for the World Cup.
Obviously, it’s a lot to take in at once, because it’s clearly magic-- but I’ve always believed in magic, in a sense. So I just grin and start exploring, getting friendly with the kids my age in the area, lie to the adults when they ask where my parents are (”oh, our tent is over there”) and nobody even thinks twice about my accent because people from all over the world are here for the event. Of course, I’m only 15, and eventually I run into one of the people who actually coordinates the grounds, so I’m found out fairly easily; cut to me being interrogated and scared half to death by the magical authorities before who else but Dumbledore swoops in and quietly talks to them. It’s a lot, and it’s too quiet for me to hear all of it, but I manage to take away something about me obviously being magic if I found the place-- and then suddenly, this old man is offering his hand and escorting me out, telling me about a whole other world I didn’t know I could be a part of.
I do go to Hogwarts, and I have to do a LOT of remedial studying to catch up to the other students, but it helps that I love to read about magic and studying over the summer isn’t a problem.
In some AUs, I’m poly with Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley; in others, I’m with Fred and George Weasley. Sirius Black ends up taking me under his wing along with Harry, and he doesn’t die in my canon-- neither does Fred, Remus Lupin, or Tonks.
I also have a pretty big crush on Newt Scamander from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but I haven’t got my AU timeline figured out for him yet.
MCU
Agents of SHIELD: This show is a separate AU from my other Marvel stories, but I have the same energy powers as usual. Basically, I’m an Inhuman on SHIELD’s watchlist for a long time, even before they know what Inhumans are; unlike some of the other individuals on the list, I’m friendly, cooperative. I consult on cases from time to time, mostly as needed until Phil Coulson starts putting together his dream team: that’s when he reaches out to me, asks me to be a permanent consultant to his team. I’m sort of hesitant, because permanence is restrictive when it comes to organizations like his, but I agree on my own terms. I find myself fitting in and warming up to the team more than I thought I would, and I even find myself crushing on Fitz and-- to a lesser extent-- Skye. When she gets her powers, it’s frickin’ neat as hell, but I end up fighting with the team for treating her so poorly afterward.
Spider-Man (Tom Holland): Originally, I’m not even in New York, but rent in our area is going up, and the frequency with which certain areas in NY get destroyed leads to their rent actually being more appealing in an attempt to get people to move back. So, with everything going on, my family weighs their options and we move. It’s the end of summer when we get there, and it’s a different school district, so they make me take all sorts of tests to see where I’ll best fit in-- eventually, they put me into some prestigious school my parents are thrilled about and which I’ve never heard of. Of course, I’m much more thrilled after the first week or so: the classes are more engaging, and the students seem to know their stuff. Other than the classist rich kids, it’s paradise for nerds! And that’s before I develop a crush on a classmate (Peter Parker) and start paying attention to news about a local superhero. Around this time is when my powers start to show themselves; sparks fly, literally, and I find myself getting done with things faster than anyone else. It all comes to a head when, on my way home from school, someone falls from the upper floor of a building and I somehow manage to slow their fall so they land safely. Thoroughly freaked out, I start experimenting with my powers, seeing what I can do-- eventually, I put together my own suit and start helping out the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. (We end up dating out of costume.)
MIRACULOUS LADYBUG
So, in the ML universe, I’m an American exchange student in Paris, and I end up figuring out the identities of the local heroes fairly quickly, which leads me to help out in the crises a lot more. After a while of this, Master Fu decides to gift me with the Mouse Miraculous, which has a different power than in canon, because I developed this before the debut of Kwami Buster and honestly I kind of think Multimouse has a stupid power? Anyway, as Souris Gris, I have the power of stealth. I realize pretty quickly that my accent is gonna be an easy identifier, so I take up Langue des Signes (French Sign Language, or LSF) to use while transformed-- as a bonus, it adds to the stealth thing. Meanwhile, as my civilian self, I’m still adjusting to using conversational and situational French 24/7.
Adrien Agreste (also known as Chat Noir) is my primary f/o from this, but there’s also an AU where we’re poly with Marinette Dupain-Cheng (also known as Ladybug), who we’re both dating.
OURAN HIGH SCHOOL HOST CLUB (OHSHC)
Okay, in the past with this one I’ve 100% focused on the romance, so I’m gonna make something up on the spot. I still would’ve been born to a lower middle-class family in Midwestern America-- flyover country-- but at some point in my youth, a family member wins the lottery-- literally, and not just as a figure of speech. It’s a big one, and instead of spending it, they invest; as I grow up, things start to look up for us. I’m a creative kid, and I’m bugging my parents to let me design and make my own books, games, and toys. Eventually, they cave, and that’s the story of how I become a “self-made” millionaire.
At first, the products only really sell in North America, until a knock-off line comes out in Japan, and we release them there to curb the competition. The sales skyrocket in the Japanese isles and surrounding countries, so sometime in my preteens, my family moves to Japan to better oversee the majority of the business. After a lot of private tutoring and language classes, I beg my parents to let me go to a real school. Now, my parents, who are quickly becoming the snooty rich folks they used to curse, take some convincing, but we finally agree as long as they choose the school, which is how I end up enrolled at Ouran Academy.
I eventually find myself meeting the host club and befriending them, which... also leads to me dating Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin, the notorious twins. We’re all lowkey crushing on Haruhi, but none of us do anything about it.
THE UNIQUES
I still haven’t decided how I end up on the team to begin with, but I do know that my powers are pretty much the same in The Uniques as they are in the Arrowverse. (This is mostly because that’s my default when it comes to superpowers. Energy powers are frickin’ neat, okay?) Again, they primarily cover electricity, movement, and gravity, but in this universe I also have a little more experience bending light and manipulating heat.
One of my f/os from this is also mentioned in the Arrowverse section because of an AU, and that’s Michael Collins. He and Scout are my boyfriends, and they’re best buds. The rest of the team (the New Guard) are our best friends, so they’re platonic f/os.
WALKYVERSE (It’s Walky!, Shortpacked!)
Technically, the Walkyverse also includes Roomies!, which comes before It’s Walky! sequentially, but I don’t even really think about that part of the comic tbh. Basically, I’m an alien abductee, so I have powers-- neat!-- and I’m an agent of SEMME-- less neat. We’re a secret government agency fighting a hostile race of aliens known only as “aliens”, which I guess are separate from other extraterrestrial races because Martians are specified as a separate race within the comic...? Anyway. I’m a SEMME agent, and I have enhanced abilities like super-strength due to my status as an abductee. Originally, I was a part of a different squad, but a mission went south, leaving me as the only surviving member.
By the time the retrieval unit showed up, most of my teammates were already dead, and I was just barely holding up a fallen building which would have crushed me had I let go. Upon my return to SEMME HQ, I was asked to wait outside an office for a moment while the Big Boss and some poor agent tasked with debriefing him duked it out behind the closed doors. There were whispers about me, being the sole survivor of my unit and having held up a building, and people had their suspicions, but it didn’t matter. The fact was that I was the only agent that had made it through a suicide mission, which is a feat in and of itself, disregarding the valuable intel I had gathered; Big Boss eventually reassigned me to Squad 128, the most infamously effective team on payroll, and sent me off to get checked out by medical.
My main f/o in Walkyverse is Mike Warner, a fellow SEMME agent and abductee. I’m also FWB with the titular character before he gets married-- David Walkerton (Walky)-- and Marcie.

HEY SO!!!!!! as i *cough* may have indicated, i just finished listening to the first episode of the adventure zone: amnesty, and while i finish packing up my apartment to move immediately and without a moment’s hesitation to kepler, wv, for the rest of my goddamn life, i would like to impart to you - as your friendly neighborhood mountaineer - a few nuggets of WV worldbuilding you may find of use in your upcoming fics and arts!!!!!!!!!!! i spent the entire setup episode with my head on fire because i’m just that!!!!!!! excited!!!!!!!!!!! about a show set in my home state, aka, west virginia, aka, the best state in the union, come fight me, buckeyes get a beatdown first.
far be it from me to quarrel with my favorite hometown boys, but my mama’s from upstate WV and i have never heard Monongahela pronounced “mon-ong-uh-HEE-luh” in my whole life. it’s “mon-ong-uh-HAY-luh,” sorry, mcelroys!!! anyway, kepler is gonna be located somewhere in the monongahela national forest; there is also a monongahela river, but it’s not nearby (you might instead reference the greenbrier river!). (on a related and very serious note, if any of you need to pronounce Appalachia - which is the geographical region in which our story takes place - you SHALL pronounce it correctly: “apple-at-chuh” not “apple-ayt-cha,” “apple-ay-shuh,” or any other damn way the northeast has foisted upon us.)
because of the twin peaks-y setting, y’all will be tempted to put a diner in this town. in fact, i put about even odds on griffin putting a diner in this town. i humbly request you resist this urge; diners are kind of a…northeast/out west kind of convention. i’m not saying they DON’T exist in wv (they definitely do) and i’m not saying they can’t be super effective in offbeat supernatural stories set in wv (they sure can!), but the convention of a 24-hour pancakes-and-burgers, 50s-styled chrome-decorated restaurant called a diner isn’t really a wv thing. i posit to you these possibilities instead: a touristy hot dog stand, a Shoney’s or Dairy Queen or Tudor’s Biscuit World (the staples of my dining-out experience until the age of 13), a local building that has been no fewer than three separate Mexican restaurants that just can’t seem to stay open, or even the restaurant attached to the “inn” that’s probably a little faded and threadbare since its resort town glory days but can still fix you up with some killer biscuits and gravy and decent coffee in the morning.
the local grocery store probably looks something like this. down the mountain, in whatever the first town of any size is, you can find a kroger and a walmart.
i thought i’d hunt up a few pics of wv national park rangers. looks to me like pretty much all us park rangers wear the same thing, but maybe the badges can be different? i’ll do more research and let you know what i find out.
here’s the green bank telescope, which i visited as a tiny child!
Tumblr media
and here you can read more about the FUCKING MASSIVE WIRELESS DEAD ZONE that it lives in!! nifty and INCREDIBLY SPOOKY!!
here is Snowshoe, the Bigger, Better Ski Resort that has sent Kepler into decline.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(i think Kepler’s gonna be a little more like Canaan [kuh-NAYN] Valley, myself; the resort lodge and the nearby town has got that slightly more 50s/60s once-chic-now-shabby vibe that is quintessentially west virginia to me, although they’ve remodeled the lodge interior since i was younger.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and finally, OUR HEROES’ ACCENTS. charming as the boys’ accents are, people from rural eastern wv like Ned and Duck are gonna sound much more recognizably wv.
youtube
the young football player being interviewed here is from the same county where snowshoe resort and green bank are located.
youtube
this wv state senator is a native of the next county to the west.
i tried HARD to find some african american accents from anywhere close to the region amnesty is set and i was thwarted for like an hour and a half so instead here are an unembeddable video of a woman with an accent from a few counties west (my home county!) and a young man from the very southern part of the state:
youtube
AND FINALLY i know we haven’t heard travis voicing aubrey yet, and i am sure that whatever he does will be delightful. HOWEVER. i posit that no matter what he ends up deciding for her backstory, there is at least one universe in which aubrey is from DEEP in a holler in eastern kentucky.

OKAY I HAVE OFFICIALLY SPENT FOUR HOURS ON THIS and i’m like nowhere even close to having said everything i wanna say on this topic but FOR NOW i’ll leave you with these. if you have questions or just wish to scream in my face about this arc, please do not hesitate to crash my inbox.

The Colorful House Trend: Crazy or Cute?
Contrary to popular belief, not all homes are beige, brick red or grey!
Let’s talk about the colorful house trend, shall we?
But first… a story.
Growing up, there was a bright lilac house with a tiny widow’s walk in my neighborhood. To my young eyes, it was the epitome of chic. The rest of the neighbors didn’t think so, though — it stood out like a sore thumb amidst the tasteful craftsman bungalows, neutral ranch houses, and wannabe haciendas. This was before the days of strict HOAs, though, so there was very little they could do about it besides sigh, and say, “Yes, I live right down the street from the purple house. No, I don’t know why it’s purple.”
It was kinda like this, but even cuter.
In the end, the elderly lady who lived there moved on, and the house was quickly repainted to a safer oyster grey with dusty blue trim. The neighborhood breathed a collective sigh of relief; their property values were safe from the scourge of color once again.
I still think of that house, though, and the old lady who lived there. She must have had a lot of chutzpah to go with her dream color… especially when the whole rest of the neighborhood was kind of drab.
Nowadays, it seems like there are more colorful houses popping up than ever. Perhaps it’s because people are more likely to go their own way these days, or maybe it’s due to the extreme popularity of these brightly colored dwellings on sites like Houzz, Instagram, and Pinterest.
The hashtag #colorfulhouses has over 72,000 uses so far!
With the growing popularity of candy colored homes, we thought we’d dig in and address this trend. We can dig into the big myths and controversy and determine once and for all… is this trend cute? Or is it crazy?
Here we go.
Colorful houses are weird and not at all tasteful.
Au contraire, mon frere! In many parts of the USA and other countries, colorful houses are the norm.
What would beach towns look like without rows of citrusy townhomes? How bland would Santorini be without those famous bright blue roofs? And how about sunny Mexico, where color is practically hardwired into the culture?
Muy bonita, no?
What’s more is you don’t have to live in a colorific town to have a colorful house. You just have to consider a few things before you commit to color.
This pink house is classic and beautiful. Change my mind.
Red is only for farmhouses.
While red certainly is a bright, striking color, it’s also a classic when it comes to exteriors. Frank Lloyd Wright himself was a huge fan of red paint.
When most people think of a red house, they immediately picture a pastoral scene — if you’ve got a red house, you’re probably a turnip farmer or something, right? Wrong. Red looks just as good on a variety of architectural styles. If you’re secretly wishing for a crimson Craftsman, we say go ahead.
Green is only good in small doses.
As with most things, it depends. Tennis ball green is best reserved for tiny touches here and there, and avocado green might never recover from the reputation it got in the seventies, but hunter, kelly, and apple green? They’re guh-guh-guh-gorgeous!
Green symbolizes life, nature, and good luck. How can you go wrong with that?
Tile is an even bigger commitment than paint. Go big or go home, I guess.
Yellow’s ok though, right?
When people think “crazy colorful house”, they usually don’t include yellow. With some architectural styles, yellow is almost considered a neutral! That doesn’t mean you should go slappin’ on the saffron just yet, though. Unfortunately, if you’re planning on selling soon, you might want to back away from yellow altogether. According to a survey done by Zillow, houses painted this sunny hue reduced sales prices by $3,408!
If you want to stay in your home for a long time, have at it. Yellow is cheery, energetic, and attention-grabbing.
You’ll have no problems with the pizza guy finding this place!
Pink Houses? Isn’t that only a John Cougar Mellencamp song?
I’ll be honest, I have no idea what that song is about. What I DO know is that pink houses are charming, whimsical, and a little bit retro.
Pink looks as good in Palm Springs as it does in the South, so if you’re dreaming of a pink home and you don’t might the slight Barbie vibe that comes with all things pink, channel your inner Audrey Hepburn and say it with me: I believe in pink!
This house gives preppy vibes, but in, like, a good way.
Purple is fussy and old-ladyish
First of all, old ladies are awesome and anyone who disagrees is sentenced to watching 20 episodes of The Golden Girls.
Second, not all purple looks fussy. This regal hue can look modern and stately, and it’s almost always certain to stand out! This color is not for the faint of heart, but if you’re into it, we say make like Prince and go for the purple.
No way would Bea Arthur live here.
There’s only one way to do blue.
Remember the late 80s when farmhouse-chic was a thing? I don’t mean the Chip-and-Joanna moment we’ve got going on now; I’m referring to the ducks and chickens on everything era. Back then, dusty blue was all the rage, and when you think of a blue house, that’s probably what you imagine.
Dust off your imagination, friend. There are so many ways to do blue now it’s not even funny. From teal and turquoise to ultramarine and navy, when it comes to blue, the sky’s the limit. (Get it? OK, OK, I’ll stop.)
You DON’T have to live at the beach to like blue.
Black houses look evil.
Ok, so black does have a reputation as a very spooky color, but that doesn’t extend to houses! Black houses look neat and chic. We say black stands out in a GOOD way.
Oh, and while we’re debating black? Just remember, the Addams family’s house was creepy and spooky and the exterior paint was all NEUTRALS. So take that, beige.
It’s so cozy! No self-respecting witch would live here.
There’s no wrong way to use color.
How can I put this tactfully? There are some houses out there that DO make you wonder, “Just how much does this person hate their neighbors?”
Look, color is great, but if you want to be this bold, you’ve also got to be judicious. House paint usually lasts eight years or more, so ask yourself, “Do I really want to see this every day for the next decade? Also, will this paint scheme inspire hate mail?” before you choose a color.
I’m not trying to say this is too much, but… this is too much.
This is just a new fangled trend that will pass, right?
Yes and no.
While it’s certainly hot-hot-hot to have an Instagram-worthy exterior these days, colorful houses have been around for ages!
While some folks will grow tired of their picturesque houses, others will keep their vivid homes for ages… or even pass them down to their kids.
Colorful homes are here to stay.
Painted Lady-style Victorians date back to the mid 1800s.
The Final Verdict
With all of this analysis, we think it’s safe to say the colorful house trend is cute… even if it is a little bit risky.
If you’re jonesin’ to add some color to your home’s exterior, you might want to check with your city and HOA first. Many places have restrictions on what colors you can and can’t use.
Also, if you get the go-ahead to use a bold color, you might want to consult with a design pro or at least try a few big swatches in a few different locations. Your whole house is TOO big of a canvas to mess this up!
