hmmm i know nothing abt game design/programming but i rly do feel a temptation to try and make a kirby danmaku game with like... danmakufu or smth... id want the art to be in gijinka though so this appeals Mainly To Me
like the stage bosses could be (based on my own character biases)
stage 1: waddle doo (midboss), whispy woods obv (not a gijinka)
stage 2: kracko jr (midboss), kracko (not a gijinka)
stage 3: bandana dee (midboss), king dedede
stage 4: the entire halberd (midboss), meta knight
stage 5: magolor/marx (either as a duo or somehow picked between them, a la tsukumos, even though i think the only shot type would be kirby and change with copy abilities if that was doable... or maybe a duo midboss and whoever you Don't defeat you fight souped-up as a boss)
stage 6: mage sisters maybe? (functioning like prismrivers) or some form of dark matter
stage EX: mage sisters (midboss), galacta knight

Episode 3 is now officially out!
As stated beforehand, Episode 3 is now done and officially translated. As usual, it'll be timestamped.
One minor thing, Harpy tends to talk with music notes and all that, and since my phone doesn't have that, I'll replace them with *'s.
As well, most of Harpy's lines involve singing (Go figure,) and since 80% of it just didn't stick at ALL, I tended to go with her good ol' "La-La-La's" or a "Do-Rei-Me-Fa". This means her lines might be scuffed due to that, so if any massive Harpy fans or Japanese speakers can reach out to help, please do.
Here are some of the new portraits, Panotty and Harpy appear here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the video itself:

Panotty Midboss: (2:25, 7:13 is the defeat quote.)
Harpy Boss: (10:36, 12:57 is the defeat quote and 13:51 is just asking if you want to leave the Dungeon.)
Harpy Re-encounter: (13:56)

Schezo hates Music: (14:53)
With that, enjoy.
Intro: (0:08)
Harpy:

Harpy:
Horoharu Helifla~*
Schezo:

Harpy:
La-Laaaa~*
Schezo:
If I keep listening to this, I'll die!
Harpy:
I'll see you later~*
Schezo:
Oh. Guess I can enter the Dungeon now. [0:48 is just the usual Let's Go Inside.]
-----
Panotty Midboss: (2:25)
Schezo:
What's that? Is it the sound of a Flute?
It sounds awful, like Harpy's hypersonic waves...
Flute: [God I'm going to hate typing this one]

Schezo:
Gwaaaah! My ears are going to rot!
Panotty:
Why? Why aren't you dancing?
Schezo:
Huh?
Panotty:
You must have rotten ears! [Wonder why.]
Schezo:
Listening to your Flute will make them rot real quickly.
Panotty:
What!? I'm gonna kill you!
Schezo:
I won't hold back, even if you are a kid.
---
Defeat: (7:13)
Panotty
Oh, I lost...don't forget me!
Schezo:
That's a 2nd rate bully line...still, seems like he wasn't the boss here.
----
Harpy Boss: (10:36)
Harpy;
Hirehara [whatever this means,], Hello, hello*
Schezo:
Wow, even in here they're awful!

Panotty:

Schezo:
Hey! What the hell are you two doing?
Panotty:
I want some apple juice. [He never gets it.]
Harpy:
Oh, a jewel perfect for my stage. Can you give me that?*
Schezo:
(Are these guys going to keep making noise until I give them something?)
[What do you give them?]
[A big list appears, and the player gives the item needed.]
Harpy:
*I'm so happy! I'm off to match the clothing for it...
Panotty:
Huh? Is the singer lady going away?
(He leaves also)
Schezo:
Finally, they're quiet.
And that's all. Episode 4 is still in the works, so heads up for most likely next weekend.

Note
One funny thing about Labrynth is that, not only does she have an archfiend working for her, he is bound to her hell castle so deeply that he gets stronger the more traps have been activated. He literally gets stronger just to make sure the lady knight is always fighting something crazy before she gets to Lovely herself. I’m imagining that one day we’ll get secret surprise lore that makes her like, a retired world conqueror or something.
THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING, THERE'S SOME INSULAR POWER LEVEL SHIT GOING ON HERE. WE DON'T EVEN HAVE THE SCISSORS AND BUTLER MIDBOSSES YET. IF THEY EVER MAKE KNIGHT-CHAN A LA ILLEGAL KNIGHT SHE'LL BE SICK.

Virtual Self's "Clubsystem" @1720 Los Angeles 2/8/19
Tumblr media
If you were to tell me a Grammy-nominated electronic artist I’ve idolized for over half a decade was to play a 3-hour set in a nondescript warehouse that fits only a couple hundred people, I wouldn’t believe you. Announce that set only 3 days before the date and stretch it out to almost 4 hours of hard techno, jungle, speedcore, trance, and euro dance, and I will shake you by the shoulders until you tell me when tickets are on sale.
Recently Grammy-nominated DJ Porter Robinson, a humble 26 year-old from North Carolina, decided that two shows in LA during Grammy week just weren’t enough. Sandwiched by sold out performances at the Shrine Auditorium, Porter’s “Virtual Self” project would visit a venue unlike any I’d ever visited before. 1720 Los Angeles is named as such because of its street address: 1720 E. 16th St. There are no signs on the building visible from a block away. There’s no fancy paint job or obnoxiously oversized flyers posted on the concrete walls. But driving by the address only 15 minutes after doors opened confirmed I was at the right spot. The line of ravers shivering in anticipation (and from the “California Cold” of 40 degrees) wrapped well around the building.
Opener DOSS did a fine job at getting the audience moving a bit the hour prior to Porter’s arrival, but when our boy took the stage, that’s when the crowd really opened up. To see our favorite DJ at this tiny venue, tucked away in a corner of Los Angeles with minimal lighting support, was an experience unlike what you’d get anywhere else. Whereas the Shrine hosted a massive production to accompany his selection of tracks, 1720 had a wall-sized screen just behind Porter, some strobe lights, and a few lasers used sparingly throughout the night. Really what this did was help enhance the focus on the music itself, instead of having this visual feast to eat up the audience’s attention.
But what of the set itself, you ask? Pure nostalgic bliss. Thumping heavy techno beats gave way to euphoric trance music. Unique edits would throw in glitched sounds and cut up melodies to create experimental works of art. Was it polarizing for some? Probably. Did the crowd go nonstop to 2AM? Most definitely. Gone were singalong tracks for the crowd to croon along to. This wasn’t some pop-EDM concert at a stadium venue. This was Virtual Self in an LA warehouse.
I can say without exaggeration that I don’t think I’ve ever seen a DJ put on a set like this one, even compared to his set at Electric Daisy Carnival 2018. He continues to evolve, adapt, and enhance his production so that you’re never sitting after a show feeling like you’ve seen him do that before. Though he may not have won the Grammy at last night’s awards, there is no denying his influence, appeal, and passion for what he loves: electronic music and those he leads into Virtual Utopia.

A META KNIGHT’S TALE/META KNIGHT AND THE MYSTERIOUS ECLIPSE
No cover art this time! Might update this later with it.
It was pretty difficult trying to make this game work as a stand-alone, but still have the Kirby charm. That applies to both the storyline and the gameplay, for the record. Any and all criticism is encouraged! Just like with Kirby’s Inferno, this is not meant to be speculation on a future Kirby game, this is solely made for fun! If there ever is a Meta Knight spinoff, you didn’t hear it from me.
STORY
It’s an average peaceful day in Dreamland, and Captain Vul is overseeing the Meta-Knights’ training. They’re all doing pretty well, except for Sailor Dee, who just can’t seem to get a hang of his bow and arrow. Vul is most proud of Meta Knight himself, however, and lauds him when he shuttle-loops a training dummy into stuffing. This exercise is interrupted when a strange meteor crashes down about a mile away, and Sword, Blade, and Meta Knight go off to scope it out.
Upon further inspection, they see that it appears to be a small escape pod of some sort, and there’s a person covered in stars inside of it. Without warning, he bursts from it and lunges at Meta Knight, thrusting a nodachi at his face. They clash for quite some time until Sword and Blade take over, and the other Meta-Knights sans Sailor dogpile on as well. As Meta Knight catches his breath, a small fairy then exits the pod, dazed and weak. She shakes it off, and gasps at the sight before her.
The man manages to break through the barrage of attacks and tries again to strike Meta Knight, but their blades clash and they struggle to maintain their own ground. The fairy girl then yanks the guy away by his ponytail and shows him a picture of a certain spherical hero. It’s actually Kirby, but due to the picture having no color (or any other identification, WTF, Tara?), he believes it to be Meta Knight.
They apologize for attacking and explain themselves. Orion comes from the planet of Aurora Cosmos, which is currently under attack by a mysterious moon-like structure known as the Eclipse Castle. Being the gentlemen that they are (and a little sheepish for attacking an innocent guy), they agree to help him and lead him to the Halberd. Sailor Dee finally hits the target dead on, and Tara cheers him as Axe and Mace guide him into the ship.
Upon reaching Orion’s planet, they can safely affirm that the massive crescent moon-shaped object above the shimmering green planet probably isn’t supposed to be there. I mean, usually, it’s a bad thing when half of the planet’s coated in a gross blackish tar. Landing on the planet proves difficult as well, being that they’re attacked by shapeshifting beasts (which Tara refers to as Morphix) and nearly crash.
Unfettered, the band of knights marches on through the land, slaying these freakish creatures and saving the natives from a gooey torment. But, something seems to be off about Orion. Even for the Meta-Knights, he seems a bit too aloof and unattached, only focusing on the mission at hand and refusing to take a load off.
This reaches a head when after defeating a massive Morphix that begins ripping the place to shreds, Orion does something obscenely reckless. He nonchalantly leaps off of a cliff, and Meta Knight dives after him, catching him and flying him to safety. When they land, the poor guy is in a state of utter bewilderment at what just happened. Apparently, Orion should be able to fly, and is pretty shocked at his sudden inability.
Later, when the crew is roasting marshmallows around a fire, he stands alone and ponders what could be happening. Much to his horror, the answer is made clear when he sees that the stars on his arms are disappearing. He quickly yanks his arm guards over the now-blank spots to hide them as Meta Knight approaches.
Meta Knight can tell something’s wrong but doesn’t pry; instead silently reassuring him that he’ll be fine if they stick together. They hear a scream of terror and turn to see that Tara’s marshmallow has caught fire, and she’s flying around in a tizzy trying to put it out. Sailor Dee helps her out by chucking it into a pond, which gets everyone to laugh and finally unwind.
Once all the countries of the planet are nice and monsterless, the knights turn their attention to the Eclipse Castle. Something goes horribly wrong when they bring the Halberd to the surface. Not only are they immediately grounded by black spires and crash land, Orion suddenly yells out and collapses, the stars from his body rapidly dissolving. The crew rushes over to him and a tearful Tara reveals that they haven’t been exactly honest with them.
Many years ago, Orion’s people were cursed by a vengeful and chaotic mage named Pitch Shadow, who threatened to destroy their planet if they did not submit to his will and give him their magical power. Orion knew that going after him alone would mean certain demise, but he didn’t care as long as his planet was safe. It was only with Tara’s urging that he changed his mind and decided to seek out allies.
Orion is true and fully dead. Furious, Meta Knight leaps through the portal to destroy him, the hesitant crew following suit. Inside the Midnight Castle, they find a massive crystal ball chained to the ground with thick glowing chains. Upon breaking it open, they realize their horrible mistake, as it turns out that the chains were what was giving it it’s energy.
Now fully freed, Pitch begins to siphon all the life out of the planet. They’ve got to turn around to the Halberd and use its cannons to shatter the chains before pummeling him into a pulp once more. With the mage blasted into oblivion, the Eclipse Castle itself starts falling to pieces, and they bolt out of there as fast as they can.
The Halberd continues its journey back down to Aurora Cosmos, while both Meta Knight and Tara sadly gaze upon Orion’s body in the sick bay. Meta Knight turns to leave, but something catches his eye outside the window; a vast collection of golden stars has appeared where the Eclipse Castle used to be, and they’re heading right towards the ship.
As they fill the interior, the markings on Orion’s body reappear, and he awakens. Tara is overjoyed, fluttering around him, and cheering as Meta Knight stares in shock. Overcome by emotion, Meta Knight rushes over to him and embraces him, Orion taking it in stride as he pats Meta’s head.
Triumphant, the knights and Orion land to a cheering crowd. Orion’s wings reappear, to which he responds to by challenging Meta Knight to a race. But as the two take off and dart around the city, it becomes less of a competition and more of the two simply having fun!
GAMEPLAY
Each member has their own personal move set and stats, which can be paired up with another knight to create exclusive moves (and to help with puzzles)
However, they all share one move; they plant their weapon in the ground and clutch onto it, preventing them from being blown away or sucked up by enemies. (ha-ha, wow, that’s dark)
By defeating enemies with combos, you fill up a meter called “boost points”. This gives you the ability to call on Tara so that she can give you extra help with a quick nuzzle or a beam of light from her horn.
These powers include temporary invincibility, stronger attacks, more health, or heightened speed.
Pieces of armor can also show up in hidden crates across various levels, all randomized.
You can mix and match different caps, armor, and weapons, but there are exclusive sets that can permanently boost your stats if completed.
There’s a daily roulette wheel (à la Miitopia) that can give you brand new armor, more boost points, or Maxim Tomatoes.
The game’s map operates the same way that Amazing Mirror’s does, with an open world you can freely move around to which level you’d like and replay them at your leisure. They’re connected all by a central hub in the Halberd, which has a training room and an armory that you can enter at any time.
There’s a boss at the end of every level, not just the worlds! Admittedly, they’re still about the same difficulty as midbosses.

2064 Read Only Memories: A Review
youtube
If you haven't played this game, then are there other point and click, cyberpunk kidnapping, mystery games that came in the Racial justice bundle that you think I should check out? Let me know all about them in the comments.the garden center of my closest hardware store and I’m trying to decide if the start up cost of 15 bucks in in my budget.
Welcome back to another video game review here on Mummified Games. Today were going to be taking a look at the modern Point and Click Mystery game 2064: Read Only Memories. By Midboss.
This game has a lot of charm to it. I Love how this game presents itself. The Music, art, story, and voice work, is all great and do a really great job of pulling me in. I did not want to stop playing. This was the first time where I was like okay maybe i play for 2 hours. And then write the review. But sadly there was no way I could do that if I wanted to make my deadline.
So the game is a future cyberpunk scene where Humans have found a way to cybernetically and biologically augment their bodies. Sort of just like every other Cyberpunk cenario. Just par for the course at this point.
Wouldn't have it any other way.
But what's great about this game is that it's not overly burdened with the constant narrative of life sucks and there's inequality and class disparity.
It's not dystopian cyberpunk, it's more optimistic. People seem to really be jammin with the future that they find themselves in. For the most part.
So it's your standard affair people are making so many augmentations to themselves in so many different ways. That there is a rebel group that is coming up that wants to see humanity return to who they were.
Not like a full blown god's perfect image, it's not a religious thing. But still embracing tradition and what makes humans human.
I don't know if we have the science to make Snake people then I'm all for it.
Ooo la la.
There are Robots that this big company is making that are designed to Walk like the humans, talk like the humans. But it's all just fancy code. And then the game tells you about one scientist that is working on transcending that limitation of just fancy code. And make something new.
Story intro out of the way, The scene opens with your less than standout apartment and you learn that you are a journalist, sort of.
And after you go through a nothing of a tutorial. As in like it's almost not even there cause it's so basic. You write a report and then go to bed.
INCITING ACTION
In the middle of the night a little blue robot hacks your door. And breaks into your apartment. Interfaces with your computer, cleans your apartment and also tries to clean the old computer, bricking it in the process.
You wake up and they tell you that they have selected you out of all known contacts of their master to help them track their master down. He was Captured last night and you need to join the robot to track down their master.
The robot's name is Turing, probably named after the real person Alan Turing the Computer Scientist.
A note about the dialogue and interactions with Turing. ALL THEIR LINES ARE VOICED! This game gives you so much during the process. There is a lot of reading to be doing in this game and luckily it's not all put on you.
I don't want you to think that I don't like Reading. Or that I think reading is hard. But if I'm meant to put multiple hours into a game. Doing nothing but reading for the entirety of it can get tiring
So I'm glad that so much is fully voiced. Gives you the chance to look down and tweet your love of this game for a second.
And that if there is a name or something that comes up you instantly know how it's meant to be pronounced. Instead of having to wait till you say it outloud in a video game review and suddenly everyone thinks “wait Tony, you say its like that? Wow okay”
Look, I have yet to hear anyone talk about Itch in casual conversation so I have no idea if you need to add the Dot I O to the end of it or if I sound like a Boomer who says out loud Dot Com at the end of every website name. “Yeah i just look it up on Google Dot Com”
I'm trying here folks I really am.
So after Turing tells you about what they need you join them on their mission to track down their creator and figure out what's at the bottom of this whole thing.
A note about the profile creation scene, it's quite funny and I thought it was super cool how they include multiple ways of character settings.
There's nothing visual that you can do to change your character so there's that. But Turing asks you for your name, you just type it out and I was excited for maybe a robot voice that was going to try to pronounce Mummified but it didn't go well.
Asks you for your pronouns, Yes! I love it. I would expect nothing less from a developer like Midboss. The people who host the Steam Summer of Pride Sale for the last couple of years Highlighing Queer games.
But the fact that they don't just limit to just He/Her/They but also Zir, and another one that slips my mind. And also an option to input your own preferred pronouns. SO COOL!
And I was ready to maybe answer one more silly question. That's where I was thinking the game would take things, assuming based on its sense of humor and the jokes that would come up in this game.
But no it was a real question about dietary needs and restrictions, to be kept in mind when out and about and talking about food. Holy crap that's so cool.
So the game gives you options like Omnivore, Vegetarian, Vegan, Halal, Gluten Free Dairy fr
What a super cool thing to include in your game. This just adds to the inclusion that is offered to players of all different ways of life.
So I just hunted down the list of food options in the video recording I took of this game and I'm reminded of just how funny this game is.
There are great jokes in this. There are subtle allegories to our own real world things in this game.
Turing says they found a better door that you could use to replace the current door you have due to its sub standard encryption features to prevent people from hacking though. And they recommend a particular model of door and mention it has over 300 reviews on Congo.
Wait... Congo. HA! Okay that got me. Cause you know Congo the river. And the Amazon river. I thought it was funny.
Also there is a joke about the Creator having a list of different things on the TV that they were watching like Ted’s Tech Tips. That one got me, because it might not be a thing but I'd like to think it's a nod to Linus Tech Tips.
This game is filled with great cute jokes. There are a couple of options that the game gives you when you wake up to see a strange robot in your room, some of the reactions are more fearful. And while reading them as an option I thought to myself WHY?
This little friend is Cute as hell. There's no way I would be scared of them. Their cute faces and little arms. I love them so much.
So the story is sound and the writing in it is so well done. The voice acting is great as well. Turing sounds innocent and has a cute childish nature to them, but they’re not dumb to say the least, they’re still the most advanced AI program in the world.
The gameplay is also stellar. Most of the interactions with things in this world are done with 4 different options.
Look: The game will give you a description of what the item, thing, person, whatever is.
Talk: If it's a person you can talk to them. Or sometimes things have voice commands.
Take/Touch, you might be able to pick something up or turn it on. Computers would take you to another window and you could do other things inside it.
Use time on: At the start of the game you're given an ID card and you pick up a pair of headphones in your apartment. The id could be used to get you places or scan for whatever might come up. Or you can connect your headphones to random things to hear stuff. What's funny is that you can use your headphones on almost anything and you can get some description of what you hear.
Real basic stuff. Like it's described. It's a Point And CLick Mystery Game. A lot of the game is being given a scene and you can talk to people in it, or interact with the things on the static screen.
Everything in this game flows so well together. Nothing takes you out of the experience. Its a story that takes you in and doesn't let go.
I think this is a game that I can fully recommend to people no matter what. If you have it. If you were curious about it. If you’ve never heard of it. Any range of feeling and knowledge of this game I highly recommend you go check it out.
If you have this game tell me your thoughts on it. Do you think Jessi was a jerk or if she is justified in her standoff-ness in her attitude?
If you haven't played this game, then are there other point and click, cyberpunk kidnaping, mystery games that came in the Racial justice bundle that you think I should check out? Let me know all about them in the comments.
In the meantime. Ah gee folks i really am thinking hard about that jade Plant. I'd love to get one. But my cable bill is coming and I know I need to take care of that first. Oh well. Maybe next month.
You all do the Youtube Dance, Like, Sub, Bell, Comment, and share this video with someone you know.
And as always hackers, Keep Digging, and we’ll make it out sometime.
See you in the next one.
