My Favourite Books of All Time

I love to read, and I’ve read a lot of great books over the years. It’s always hard to narrow it down to just a few favourites, but I’ve managed to do it. Here are my all-time favourite books:

“To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee is one of my favorites. This classic novel is set in the deep south during the 1930s. It tells the story of a young girl, Scout, and her father, Atticus Finch. Atticus is a lawyer who defends a black man who has been accused of a crime he didn’t commit. This book is a fascinating look at race relations in America, and it’s also a great story.

Another one of my favorites is “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This book is set in the 1920s and tells the story of Jay Gatsby and his obsession with a girl named Daisy Buchanan. Gatsby throws lavish parties in an attempt to impress Daisy, but his efforts are ultimately unsuccessful. This book is a great look at the people who were rich during the Roaring Twenties.

“The Catcher in the Rye” by J.D. Salinger is another great book. This is the story of Holden Caulfield, a teenage boy who is kicked out of a prestigious boarding school and then runs away from home. Holden is a rebel who doesn’t conform to society’s expectations. I related to him a lot as a teenager, and I think many people will be able to relate to him as well.

Finally, I wanted to mention a book that is near and dear to my heart: “The Harry Potter series” by J.K. Rowling. I grew up reading these books, and they are some of my favorites. If you’ve never read them, I would highly recommend them. They are perfect for both adults and children.

The title of this book is all it took to gain my undivided attention. Not only did the title let the reader know that the protagonist is a woman with a full figure, but the title also leads you to think that it is going to be an easy read. It turns out that I was right on both counts.

This book follows a young woman, Rory, who is in her senior year of high school. Her name is where the uniqueness of this story ends. This book is almost an exact copy of the movie, “She’s All That!”.

**ATTENTION** I am not saying that I did not get enjoyment out of the book! **

I am merely pointing out that there were not many surprises for me while I was reading. Within the first two chapters, I knew what was going to happen to the protagonist and that my heartstrings were going to be pulled taut through the last half of the book at least. At one point, I locked my phone and just closed my eyes because the scene that I was reading was hitting very close to home.

Now, other than a tad bit of glossing that the author did towards the end of the story, I really enjoyed reading about Rory and Beckett. At the very least, this story was an interesting beginning to a series that is curvy girl centric!

This is the first book by K.A. Tucker that I have read. I am so happy to say that I was not disappointed! I received this book out of a Bookish Box subscription and I was pleasantly surprised. The book that was shipped to me has fully embossed pages and the author's signature on the front page. It is absolutely gorgeous, and it has become a proud addition to my personal library!

I have found myself slowing down while reading this book. The main plot and tiny details need to be ingested slowly otherwise the reader misses out on so much. I never take a long time to read a book that intrigues me, but I realized that I do not want this book to end. I swear that the pages have powers that weave around the reader and pull them into the scenes like they are experiencing the action first-hand.

The main character, Romeria, is a street-smart woman who struggles with who and where she is in her life. This character is incredibly easy to relate to. Between that and Tucker’s ease of writing, the reader is able to mentally slip themselves into the part of Romeria and the trials that she faces in her new reality.

What I found remarkable was how K.A. Tucker spun this world out of nothingness. As a reader, I prefer to read Fantasy with a tinge of Romance, which means that I have read many books that seem to mirror each other. It is not often that I am having to learn of a new society of fantastical beings. Tucker was beyond able to surprise and enthrall me with this new world.

I am going to be blunt and say that I would love to have someone to talk about this series with. There are just enough details given of some of the characters that you know they will be a major component farther into the series, which makes me incredibly excited.

The only aspect that I found was a negative within this story was the first few chapters were a tad confusing. I found that I had to reread sections because the transition was not as smooth as other parts in the book. As this only happens for me in the first 72 pages, this is a very insignificant complaint. After taking the time to slow down and pay attention, I did not find this to be much of an issue anymore. This tiny problem did not detract from the story nor deter me from continuing my reading.

As of the completion of this book, I can confidently say that this is in my top three series I have ever read. It is certainly my favorite series that I have read in the past three years. I am anxiously awaiting the next installment.

A Curse of Blood and Stone by K.A. Tucker will be released on July 12, 2022.
