The song ''misty'' was originally credited to Erroll Garner Trio in 1954, but re-recorded with an orchestral arrangement by Mitch Miller for his album Other Voices that came out 3 years later in 1957.
Ella Fitzgerald also came out with a version in 1960. I'll touch on her song more later.
In 1963, a cover of "Misty" by Lesley gore released on her debut album "I'll Cry If I Want To." where her Hit singles like "It's my party." (the famous chorus from this was in Melanie Martinez's "pity party".2015) and "Judy's turn to cry." also featured on the album.
This song can be so beautiful yet so creepy.
In Miller's version, it sounds so dreamy and it gives me the sense of longing for some you know who isn't good for you but you're just so hazy and in awe of their being to see the signs that this may lead you down a "misty path".
But when I hear Gore's version, it sounds like a creepy obsessed lover who knows what they're doing is bad but, they are just so in love and infatuated with their crush or partner that it drives them absolutely mad and over protective. Going through obsessive love disorder
Which also leads me to believe that would be used in movies like Fear (1996) & love letters (1983).
More recently Laufey covered the song too in her 2023 album Bewitched. Laufey's and Fitzgerald's takes on the song give me the feeling of just gazing out at the window ,all cozied up looking at the beautiful trees inviting fall in to change the color of their leaves.
i truly love all versions of this song so if you have listened to it (or if this blog persuade you enough to go and listen to it) let me know what you think or which version you like the most leave a comment.
As always, I hope you all have a good day and smiled at least once today!
-L.H

Johnny Mathis "It's Not for Me to Say" (Ed Sullivan Show) 1957 [HD-Remas...
youtube
It's not for me to say you love me / It's not for me to say you'll always care / Oh, but here for the moment, I can hold you fast / And press your lips to mine, and dream that love will last
As far as I can see, this is heaven / And speaking just for me, it's ours to share / Perhaps the glow of love will grow with every passing day / Or we may never meet again, but then it's not for me to say
And speaking just for me, it's ours to share / Perhaps the glow of love will grow with every passing day / Or we may never meet again, but then it's not for me to say
Wow, he was only 22 here. 鉂わ笍鉂わ笍鉂わ笍
