As a reminder, and this is in the FAQ as well, I will not be accepting propaganda from 1980 onward for the poll posts. Please do not send things you know are from the 80s or later.

@woodelf68 Just asked this great question and I had to make a separate post for it. So, this is actually something that I've been thinking about for awhile, maybe a couple of rounds. First off, if it was two sets of 1v1, I have no idea right now who would be paired off, and neither would anyone else until they got posted. But, I've been conflicted about how to conduct the semifinals. On one hand, it would make things much simpler to just do the round the way we've been doing it this whole time, just 1v1 polls. However, I do not personally want the burden of pairing off competitors, necessarily, especially not when there are so few left. So here's where I'd like your input! The results may not reflect the final decision, but they will certainly affect my thoughts on the matter.
Anyway, onto the options. I could do two polls of two people, or I could throw all the guys into one poll. If I were to do this, I would not just have each name in the poll--I want everyone to have the opportunity to vote for two guys in this round. So...I would have an option for each possible combination of final twos that you would want to see advance (ie you could vote for David Bowie and Prince, Jimi Hendrix and Prince, Bruce Springsteen and David Bowie, etc.)

the only good thing about clarence losing is that at least we won't have to see a bruce vs clarence poll (because that would break my heart)
I would feel terrible about it tbh....brother against brother....

Congratulations to our semifinalists! We'll be accepting post propaganda for these four until May 3rd. As a reminder, Prince has very little propaganda on his post and Jimi Hendrix has none.

the queen fans, in their quest to get brian and freddie to tie last round, have doomed them both because jimi is just obliterating them
Again...trying to orchestrate a tie is futile when there can only be one winner

ok if this exact tourney was run again from the beginning but with different random pairings, i feel like the results would be different… some of these men lost too soon just by the nature of random chance
I totally agree

Jimi Hendrix (1942-1970) The Jimi Hendrix Experience - guitar and vocals Songs: "Voodoo Child," "Foxy Lady" Defeated Opponents: Elvis Costello, Clyde McPhatter, Robin Zander, Arlo Guthrie, Brian Eno Propaganda: none
Brian May (1947-) Queen - guitar Songs: "White Queen (As It Began,)" "The Prophet's Song" Defeated Opponents: Ronnie Lane, John Coltrane, Roger Hodgson, Paul McCartney Propaganda: "He's very tall, his hair is the stuff of legends, his brain is the size of planets, he has a doctorate in astronomy, he built the guitar he still plays to this day (like a god) as a teenager. His songwriting and musical abilities have made him a legend in his own right and he also plays with this little group called Queen. Everyone who's ever met him unanimously say that he's the nicest, most decent person there ever was. Also, he's ridiculously beautiful in every decade he's been on this earth. Need I say more?" "While Freddie is hot and Roger is pretty, Brian stands out as sort of ethereally beautiful. He floats across the stage in Zandra Rhodes while delivering heavy riffs, then switches to self-harmonizing in as light and fae a manner as you could wish." "An Angel singing with his beautiful voice and his very own special guitar. On the best Rock tracks ever! His face like a greek god surrounded by heavenly curls, prancing skillfully on the stage with his long legs in platform shoes."
Freddie Mercury (1946-1991) Queen - lead vocals and piano Songs: "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Seven Seas of Rhye" Defeated Opponents: Leonard Cohen, Sting, Sammy Davis Jr., Marc Bolan Propaganda: see visual

(Yes, I am from New Jersey.) But really 70s-Stone Pony-Asbury Park Springsteen is truly a sight to behold."
Billy Preston (1946-2006) solo Songs: "Nothing From Nothing," "Fancy Lady" Defeated Opponents: Woody Guthrie, Tony Bennett, Mick Ronson, Frank Zappa, Mickey Finn Propaganda: "Started out at 10 playing the organ for Mahalia Jackson - he played with Little Richard and Ray Charles for years and is the only man to be credited on a Beatles song that wasn't one of the fab four!"

Stevie Wonder (1950-) solo Songs: "I Was Made to Love Her," "Pastime Paradise" Defeated Opponents: Mark Lindsay, Ray Brown, Andy Gibb, Jim Morrison, David Coverdale Propaganda: none
David Bowie (1947-2016) solo Songs: "Life on Mars?," "Heroes" Defeated Opponents: Paul Simonon, Ron Mael, Robert Plant, Eric Dolphy, Neil Peart Propaganda: "gender bending pop star who made up an alien alter ego who was already famous and then proceeded to become incredibly famous irl. Also had ridiculous cheekbones." "From Ziggy Stardust to The Thin White Duke; Bowie always experimented, adapted, always looked to improve, to do what no one did before. He used himself as a canvas. David always remained a kind, beautiful and gentle person. People who have met him have claimed that he was a charming, interesting and delightful person." "His outrageous outfits, his makeup, and his ways of moving around the stage could make any of his fans doubt their sexuality." "He's David Bowie. I feel like this is all that needs to be said."

Prince (1958-2016) solo, leader of The Revolution Songs: "I Wanna Be Your Lover," "For You" Defeated Opponents: Donovan, Miles Davis, Marvin Gaye, David Byrne, Al Green Propaganda: "His music sounds like no one else's. He was able to make a guitar sound magically different to how guitars are supposed to sound. And his voice. He could go from squeaky, almost childish sounding, to a soulful, balladic powerhouse performance all while making it look easy. He was one of the greatest singular performers and musicians ever. And he was a short king to boot." "Most photos of Prince don't really do him justice because, like Jimi Hendrix, he was at his hottest when he played guitar, and to me that's something you have to actually hear to understand. Also he had a great, super energetic stage presence, which is also extremely sexy and hard to convey in pictures alone. What I'm trying to say is that everyone should just watch his Superbowl halftime performance and I dare you to tell me that he wasn't the sexiest man alive that night." "Prince was the only guy who could show up at your party, in frills, and steal your girlfriend. Then steal her clothes, then steal someone else's girl in your girlfriends clothes."
Clarence Clemons (1942-2011) The E Street Band - saxophone Songs: "Jungleland," "Badlands" Defeated Opponents: Keith Richards, Bob Marley, Cab Calloway, Russell Mael, George Harrison Propaganda: see visual
