Jerah: Caroline, Mo, Keisha are funny as hell, so it would stupid to not feature them heavily. I also think it was our job as black men to make sure they were seen. There’s a history of black women riding for black men in all fields and walks of life. It’s about time we started doing our part. With the ladies of Astronomy Club and A Black Lady Sketch Show, we’re finally on the right path in comedy. Young black girls have options of which comedian they relate to most and want to be like when they grow up. That’s such a cool thing to witness. On everything, cheers to them.

Today we’re highlighting the Seriously.TV webseries, Projecting, created by and starring a trio of UCB performers/writers/improvisers: Jerah Milligan, Jonathan Braylock, and James III. They are the hosts of one of our favorite podcast, Black Men Can’t Jump [in Hollywood], and also happen to be part of Astronomy Club, a sketch and improv team that performs regularly at UCB.

Projecting was recently featured on Splitsider with an interview with the trio creators/stars about how they are basically taking over the internet. You might have also seen them on Snapchat and Instagram with their series Thank You, Black People for Comedy Central.

Netflix’s last sketch series, Tim Robinson’s I Think You Should Leave, was so damn funny and it really did a number on all of us.

Next in line is the long-standing, critically acclaimed comedy group known as Astronomy Club (Shawtane Bowen, Jonathan Braylock, Ray Cordova, Caroline Martin, Jerah Milligan, Monique Moses, Keisha Zollar, James III) with Astronomy Club: The Sketch Show. For years, they’ve struck a great balance between being high brow and abjectly silly and we’re intrigued to see what they’ll do with a full fledged TV show.

So far from what we’ve seen, it looks Netflix might be on track with their sketch comedy slate. See for yourself in the trailer for Astronomy Club: The Sketch Show here, then look for all episodes to start streaming on Netflix on Fri. Dec. 6th.

‘Astronomy Club’ Cancelled By Netflix After Only 1 Season

The sketch comedy TV show Astronomy Club has been cancelled after only one season on Netflix.
