Important components for a really good production of Richard III:
Richard should be a) played by an actor who is themself visibly disabled[1], b) especially early on really damn charming and sexy
Buckingham should be in blatant unrequited love with Richard
Elizabeth should be FRICKING AWESOME and absolutely outwitting Richard towards the end, not giving into him
there should be at least a few moments that make able-bodied audience members really rather uncomfortable and make physically disabled audience members laugh our arses off :D
Which is why the 2021 RSC version starring Arthur Hughes, Jamie Wilkes, and Kirsty Bushell is the best, I note. :D But if you know of any other productions that tick all of those boxes I'd love to hear about them. :-)
[1] Invisible and non-physical disabilities are So Fricking Valid and I have some myself, but when it comes to R3 the visibility is important. <3

Dick Moves
RICHARD III Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Thursday 15th August, 2022 Perhaps more than most plays, Shakespeare’s Richard III depends on the charisma of its leading man, who in this case happens to be the villain of the piece.  Through soliloquies and asides, the scheming Duke of Gloucester lets us in on his nefarious plots.  Richard needs to be more than a pantomime villain, enjoyable though it is…

Victorious Festival announces headliners for 2024
The festival will return to the Southsea seafront in Portsmouth from August 23-25
By Emma Wilkes | 5th December 2023
Victorious Festival has revealed who will be headlining next year’s event.
The UK’s biggest city festival will return to the Southsea seafront in Portsmouth on the August Bank Holiday weekend (August 23-25) next year.
Fatboy Slim and Snow Patrol will be co-headlining the Friday night of the festival, with Jamie T and Biffy Clyro topping the bill on the Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Fatboy Slim’s appearance at the festival had previously been teased with a sign that had appeared on the Southsea seafront, which read ‘Praise You’ in reference to his hit of the same name.
They will be joined by acts including Wet Leg, Becky Hill, Pixies, Courteeners, IDLES, Jess Glynne, Arlo Parks, Louis Tomlinson and Natasha Bedingfield.
Also set to perform are Soft Play, the Lightning Seeds, Maximo Park, The Snuts, Yard Act, The Lottery Winners, The Pigeon Detectives, Holly Humberstone, The Amazons, The Lathums, Red Rum Club, Brooke Combe, Personal Trainer, Sea Power, Peace, The Murder Capital, Do Nothing and more.
Early bird weekend camping tickets are now on sale from £180, while day tickets are priced at £65 each – you can buy yours here.
‘‘This is the first year we’ve released all our headliners at once and we’re thrilled to be able to announce the acts after months of planning,” Victorious’ lead booker Andy Marsh said in a press release. “Victorious 2024 is going to be bigger than ever and it’s not just the headliners people need to look out for, we have booked hundreds of acts across the weekend spanning multiple genres. We can’t wait for August, it really will be a year to remember!”
Last year’s Victorious Festival was headlined by Jamiroquai, Kasabian and Mumford & Sons.

In lieu of me watching the All's Well That Ends Well DVD, please accept my humble offering of some (kind of poor quality) Matthews.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Starting off with gamer Matthew and 'you wouldn't hit a little guy' Matthew
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some extremely hidden Matthews, a blurry Matthew and also one where he's filming Bertram again
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Btw I called his character Archie so here is Archie really hoping he doesn't have to marry Helena, Archie fidgeting, Archie placating the King and an unprepared Archie tucking his shirt in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His PROFILE is immaculate omg also that smile is so precious to me
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then he got yelled at so here he is in the naughty corner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I didn't take any of him as a soldier so please instead feast your eyes on ✨waiter Matthew✨
Tumblr media
HIS FACE LOOKS LIKE AN OIL PAINTING
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shocked boy when [massive spoilers] happen and also him corpsing in-character bc Jamie Wilkes makes so many people corpse in this play
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He gets so shocked and confused when the man he was the waiter for earlier walks into the court and that is why I believe that Archie (his Lord character) and the waiter character are the same person but I also think the soldier is a separate character, in this essay I will-

Matt is known for his debut song “Never Learn” that has over 13 thousand reproductions on Spotify. Ashton has over 10 million streams collectively from all the projects he has worked on. " He recently released a summer time single with Boehm called "Things You Said" on the legendary electronic music label Ultra Records/Sony Music. He also released a house single with Canadian legend Karl Wolf called "Not Too Late" in April of this year, and produced a record for Idris Elba which came out on August 26th called "Aces".
This year, Matt and Ashton have been working on his much anticipated single, sure to provide listeners with a beautiful and unforgettable experience as they hear from the work of this emerging creative. 🧥 warm coat: share a happy or fuzzy scene from your wip!
I don't have enough of In the Cards drafted to share, so I'll share a two truths and a lie moment from Under No Illusions:
“One—once, at AFU’s library, I beat a guy in an arm wrestling match to make him give up his seat. Two, I stole a bike by accident. And three, outside of this trip, I’ve never traveled more than three hours away from home.”
I reach for my cup, and when I find it empty, I reach for Mya’s instead. “It can’t be two,” I say as I swirl the drink, “because I remember that. You took Holly Wilkes’s bike because you thought it was yours, and didn’t realize until she started screaming outside your front door.” I take a sip. Good god, it’s awful. I think it’s strawberry margarita mix without the alcohol. “And I don’t think it’s one. I’ve seen you at the library, so I know you study there, and everyone knows how hard it is to get a seat during midterms or finals. So I’m going to say three.”
Jamie’s expression softens. “You remember that stuff about me?”
“Of course I do.”

LIVING (2022)
Starring Bill Nighy, Aimee Lou Wood, Alex Sharp, Tom Burke, Adrian Rawlins, Hubert Burton, Oliver Chris, Michael Cochrane, Anant Varman, Zoe Boyle, Lia Williams, Jessica Flood, Patsy Ferran, Barney Fishwick, Nichola McAuliffe, Jamie Wilkes, Richard Cunningham, John MacKay, Ffion Jolly, Celeste Dodwell, Jonathan Keeble, Eunice Roberts and Mark James.
Screenplay by  Kazuo Ishiguro.
Directed by Oliver Hermanus.
Distributed by Sony Pictures Classics. 102 minutes. Rated PG-13.
“Life is what happens to us while we are making other plans.” Allen Saunders
Other plans are all that Mr. Williams (no first name necessary), a London bureaucrat in the 1950s, has in this beautiful, sweet British film, surely one of the best movies to be released this year.
An adaptation of the 1952 movie Ikiru by Akira Kurosawa, Living takes a subtle and nuanced look at life and shows that even quiet, modest lives have special meaning, and sometimes the scale of the accomplishments is less important than just making a little bit of difference.
The role of Mr. Williams is perhaps a career-best performance by the always reliably terrific British actor Bill Nighy, who stuns in this performance as a completely repressed government worker – a slave to routines and rules, who has essentially been doing the same exact things every day for decades – who comes to learn that he is dying.
Suddenly realizing that his life has greatly been wasted, he tries to see what he has been missing out on for all of these years.
However, unlike less thoughtful films, this does not lead to a wholesale overhaul of the man’s entire personality. Sure, he toys with some of those things – going on an alcoholic bender, playing hooky from work, spending a lot of time with a much younger female former coworker.
Still, Living recognizes that he is still the same man, and it makes his little triumphs and changes much subtler. He shows his changes much more delicately; a sly whimsical smile, the obvious curiosity of a man who has denied himself for years, the ability to just relax and try to enjoy life as it goes on around him.
And wonderfully, his epiphany – just like the man himself – comes in a much humbler pursuit. Mr. Williams knows he can’t change the world, but he can use his knowledge and skills to do little things to make things better and help those around him. Therefore he throws himself into a modest pursuit that he knows that he can play a part in achieving – creating a playground for the kids in a downtrodden nearby neighborhood.
Living is a quiet, insightful film in which not a whole lot happens – but what does happen speaks volumes. Life isn’t always about grand gestures, sometimes it is more important to luxuriate in simple pleasures. It’s a nice thing to be reminded in a cinematic world where blockbusters try to make everything faster, brighter and shinier.
I can tell you this: Living has stuck with me a lot more strongly than many of the holiday blockbusters that have been trying to capture a sensation-starved audience’s attention.
Mr. Williams is more like a character from the Beatles song “Eleanor Rigby” – “All the lonely people, where do they all come from? All the lonely people, where do they all belong?”
Not every story has to be grand. Some stories are far more interesting simply because they are not.
There is a lot more of Mr. Williams in most people than there is in – say, the characters from things like Babylon or Avatar II or Violent Night or Wakanda Forever – just to mention a few films that are released at the same time and will likely swamp this little film’s box office take. Which is not even to say that those films aren’t worthy of your attention (some are, and some aren’t…).
However, Living is absolutely worthy of your attention, so even though it may be a little more difficult to track down than those films, treat yourself and go and find it.
And don’t be surprised if Nighy gets a deserved Oscar nomination for his performance. He may not win – in fact, he probably won’t just because it is much more low-key than other choices – but that’s okay, at least he has done his best. Mr. Williams would appreciate the effort.

Linda Minnie (Pellam) McDermott
Linda Minnie (Pellam) McDermott, 68, of Edwardsville, peacefully passed away in the early morning hours of Friday November 10, 2023 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
She was born in Beaumont, PA on February 16, 1955 to her late parents, Charles A. Pellam and Edith L. (Krause) Pellam.
Linda attended Wyoming Valley West High School, and worked hard at a variety of jobs, with her favorite being making donuts.
However, her most important and rewarding job was that of being a mother. She always put her children and other loved ones before herself. The role of caretaker just came naturally to her, and she was amazing at it. When she treated herself to some free time, she liked watching tv and putting together complicated puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her son, Mark McDermott; sisters Barbara DeArmitt, Dorothy Gruver, Betty Green, Shirley Minckler, Elizabeth Klein, and Peggy Strohl; brothers John, Charles Jr., and Robert Pellam.
Surviving are her life partner of over 30 years, Kenneth Piskorik, Edwardsville; her daughters, Billy Jo McDermott, Tunkhannock and Jamie McDermott, Edwardsville, and son Jody McDermott, Tunkhannock. She took on the mother role for grandchildren Desiree Pollick, James and Destiny McDermott. Her other beloved grandchildren include Ivi, Armoni, and Jude McDermott, Isaac Ellsworth, Henry McDermott and great-grandson Declan McDermott. Also surviving is her former husband William McDermott, Tunkhannock, and many nieces and nephews.
Linda’s memorial service will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 7:00 pm at the Hugh B. Hughes & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 1044 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, PA  18704, officiated by Rev. James Quinn. Family and friends may call to give their condolences at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 pm to service time.
