I don't wanna @ anyone because I understand how fast things seem to move in today's landscape of streaming shows dropping entire seasons in one day, and networks pumping out new series constantly to try to attract more subscribers with no intent to actually maintain those shows over time but I just saw someone self-deprecatingly lament that they are still thinking about a show that ended almost a year ago, making fan art and playlists for it, and I want to be very clear:

you can still create fanworks when it comes to old media!! PLEASE do!! there are always going to be new fans who will appreciate it, and veteran fans who are dying for new content and new perspectives. also, less than a year is NOTHING. the original Star Trek series was on TV six decades ago and there are still people losing their minds over it, writing stories and reblogging gifsets daily, and that's only one example.

a fandom lasts as long as there are people who love a thing, even if it's only a handful of people. love what you love and write and draw and make gifs and playlists about it!

This Halloween, I'm thinking about those three brave kids who just walked up to a complete stranger in the parking lot and said trick or treat.

Like I'm sorry little children, you don't just walk up to RANDOM PEOPLE AND SAY THIS. You knock on doors with lights on and/or apartments buildings with signs on them.

it's  officially  midnight  here,  which  means  i'm  allowed  to  post  this!  so ...  happy  one  year  anniversary  of  enduring  the  plague  of  avalon  upon  your  dashboards!  alternatively,  thank  you  so  much  for  giving  me  a  place  to  babble  about  my  #1  favorite  comfort  character  who  has  experienced  zero  comfort.  (  i  swear  i  am  being  SO  NORMAL  about  this.  yes i did literally buy  cake  and  party  hats.  )  whether  we  speak  on  the  daily,  you've  just  gotten  here  or  anywhere  in  between,  i  want  to  extend  my  sincerest  gratitude  for  being  on  this  absolutely  wild  ride  of  a  blog  with  me.  there's  been  ups  and  downs,  but  ultimately  i  feel  like  my  passion  for  writing  has  been  ignited  stronger  than  it's  ever  been  before.  i  am  still  always  so  excited  whenever  i  get  the  chance  to  log  on  here  and  create  stories  with  all  of  you  —  and  i  wouldn't  have  that  opportunity  if  it  wasn't  for  this little  corner  of  the  internet  you've  helped  make truly special.

there  are  so  many  of  you  i  feel  lucky  to  have  met.  (  and  so  many  i  would  love  to  get  to  know  better,  too!  )  i  hope  we  can  continue  writing  together  for  many  more  anniversaries  to  come.  and  if  the  day  ever  comes  that  they  finally  pull  the  plug  on  this  cockroach  of  a  hellsite,  i'll  forever remember  this  community  as  the  rpc  that  got me to  laugh  at  petrichor.

Something that confuses me a little is the idea that because Ted and Rebecca don't get together before he goes back to Kansas, their connection doesn't amount to anything or have an explainable meaning

(I don't need a bunch of notes explaining it to me, it's just not something that makes sense to me 😬)

Because...when you interact with someone you're that connected to, it feels extremely good

It feels good whether or not you're fucking, it feels good whether or not you've been able to articulate what it means yet, it feels good even if the status of your relationship to that person changes over time

And you can tell from Ted and Rebecca's interactions that they feel extremely good when they are in the same place. When you're that connected to someone you can tell that you are! And it feels fucking incredible, and experiencing those sensations is valuable and life-improving

Their ending (their 3x12 ending, which is neither the end of their lives nor the end of their relationship) isn't meaningless; it's sad

thinking bout how dean’s everything is tied to cas. cas saved him over and over again. dean’s sense of faith is tied up in cas. they’re so interdependent it’s sickening. cas only believes in humans, in saving people because of dean. cas cares about a whole world because of dean. like?????? perhaps the most moving lines in all of spn are “He saved me.” And “I cared about the whole world because of you.” because dean doesn’t believe there’s anything in him worth saving and cas doesn’t believe the world has much to offer an angel. the other turned their worldviews upside down. they changed each other right down to their bones. there’s something so biblical about it all. their love seems like more than just what is defined in love. it’s something cosmic, something god-like. something like god giving up his son for all of humanity except you’re giving up all of what you’ve defined as yourself for one human. something like being a devout worshiper of someone with flaws that loves you back unconditionally. there’s some sort of salvation myth in destiel waiting to be told. and there’s every left turn where they should turn so toxic, so unstable, but they don’t. yeah it ends in heartbreak but what salvation myth doesn’t ultimately lead to despair.

Okay just quickly, because I started rambling in tags and want to just... wrap this up:

and explain that when I say Eoin chooses Paddy, I don't mean that the feelings themselves are a choice, but the decision of how to act based on those feelings is a choice.

Eoin knows Paddy is a disaster. He can see that. The man is frustratingly hard work at times. He's by no means easy to learn to be with. Eoin doesn't have to put the effort in!

But he wants to.

He could, given the attitudes towards queer men at the time, distance himself from Paddy. He could keep things platonic at best, and keep himself safe. He could keep Paddy safe from that too. He could spend more time with literally anybody else.

But he chooses to spend time with Paddy.

He could tell Paddy he's on his fucking own, let him figure it out for himself, not put up with the bullshit. He could set harsher boundaries, keep himself safe from the fallout of Paddy's actions, and any threat of discrimination or punishment for homosexuality. He could decide that enough is enough when Paddy picks fights and ends up in jail, he could wave goodbye and let that be the end of expending his effort on a man who is difficult to be around.

But he doesn't let go.

Because Paddy is worth being around.

Eoin likes being around him. He wants to put the effort in.

He is aware of all Paddy's flaws. He knows the sort of man he is. Eoin is smart enough to understand what he's signing up for.

And he decides that Paddy's worth it.

Loving Paddy is rotten work sometimes. But Eoin chooses to do it. It's not blind devotion.

And I love that so much.

WAIT- is this one of the alternate timelines created from the space-time sword ("Shintō Amenogozen")!? 👀

I'm an anime-only bsd enjoyer & ever since that damn sword popped up after Atsushi & Akutagawa killed him on the boat but he was able to erase/undo(?) that timeline, I've been thinking that technically means there's multiple timelines. This would be the one where Fukuchi won that conflict we just saw or something else entirely is going on given the way he's dressed (if that even is him)! 👀👀👀

i'm still pretty much casually impressed. as a debut, i really like it. and yes, i'm a daniel kaluuya stan at my core but that's not why i liked it. i really loved the humanity of it, the characters, the visuals. i would have wanted a few things tweaked for like. maximum impact but i saw daniel talk about how sometimes you can't get the perfect shot when you're limited on time and money and like. fair. it's a debut.

i also really enjoyed the visuals of london pre- and post gentrification. it's a dystopia but the feeling is accurate right now, too. and shooting it in london was such a good choice bc it just tugs at my heartstrings immediately. like. the way those glass boxes creep closer to the communities where people live really fucks me up as a london lover (brick lane my beloved) and i loved seeing it. the coldness and drabness of the luxury flat. the wanting to leave but not actually, not really bc it's not the place that's shit. idk if that makes sense.

i wonder how people not in london feel. or people not affected by gentrification.

I really thought the Manifest fandom would be more into Michaela. And I mean her alone. I know there's a lot of ship wars about who she should be with but what about just Michaela? Like.. I'm in love with her!!! She's really cute and pretty. She's so beautiful!!! And she's so strong and smart always solving the callings and literally breaking down a wall!! And she can also be kinda awkward like a teenage girl which is adorable!! But also she's really funny and always has these little sarcastic comments she throws into conversation and they always work so well with the situation. Like every time she's with Eagan they're basically just roasting each other the whole time, it's so fun!!!! Come on people Michaela Stone is amazing and wayy more than just a ship so please let's talk about her more!!!!<333
