Mark Your Calendars: Sign-Ups Begin March 15th

Hi everyone! We are very pleased to announce that our first inu-spiration event of 2024 will be a Tanabata bang!

Tanabata, or, "evening of the seventh," is a star festival held yearly in Japan. It celebrates the meeting of the dieties Orihime and Hikoboshi, whose stars are kept separate in the skies, and can only meet once per year. While the festivities can take place in July and August (often overlapping with Obon), the start of the festival is July 7. In honor of the festival, we hope you will join us for our sixth (!) Inu-spiration bang!

Sign-ups for the bang will begin March 15th and run through April 1st. It will be a traditional bang, meaning that artists will either draw to the story that a writer conceives, or the two will collaborate on the concept.

Hi everyone! For this iteration of @inu-spiration, I have been partnered with the talented @razdazberry, and OH have we got some plans for you!

How about a little KogKag exes to lovers, some badass Kagome, some very sexy Koga, and a lot of action, all for this upcoming Halloween night?

A sudden flash of light had Kagome squinting. There was a whoosh as the snake was ripped away from her body, and a resounding smack as it bent in half and flung against the window, where it shimmered and exploded, its innards flying about the car.

Tsubaki howled, then screeched as she, too, was bent nearly in half, her dark reiki spilling out of her hands and melting the carpet below. 

But Kagome wasn’t watching that; she was looking at Tsubaki and the way she was huffing, still folded over…

Almost like she’d been kicked.

A surge of yōki filled the cabin, dark green and billowing. Kagome gasped, because she knew, she knew who this was and…

She was scooped up into a pair of muscular arms, her skirt swishing around her. Her body shifted, nearly out of her control, but then a deep, husky voice breathed into her ear:

“Get on my back, sweetheart, if you still remember how.”

This is my entry/contribution to the Inu-Spiration event 2023!

I have the great great honor and delight to be working with the oh so clever @wolfcry77 for the @inu-spiration Halloween event this year. Here is a snippet of what's to come that will likely confuse you once the story itself arrives. 🤣

“What the hell are you doing here, Yash?” His head snapped up, his forelocks swinging. “Miroku…” “It’s almost midnight. The rest of the guys were out of here hours ago.” The team manager leaned against the doorway, arms crossed over his chest in a clear gesture of disappointment. “You need to sleep.” “I need to up the power on my swings.” Miroku sighed, rolling his eyes and letting his arms drop. “What? You know the others are beating me out by this much because they hit harder.” His fingers pinched in front of his nose would have been comical were it not for the intensity of his amber gaze while he said it. Miroku sighed again, stepping into the gym and grabbing a towel to throw at Inuyasha’s head. “You are going to injure yourself doing this long before you accomplish what you’re trying to do. You know no one is supposed to be on the bench without a spotter. Club rules.” The baseball player let his head drop, moping. “I should be suspending you. Instead, I’m giving you an order.” “A what? Dude. This is not the military.” Miroku gave him a look. “What is it?” “Go outside. Take a break. Touch some fucking grass.” “I’m on grass for hours…” “No. No. Not this perfectly trimmed, manicured stuff. The real deal. Fresh air, sunshine, wild grass, some trees. Go the fuck outside.” He tried to ignore him, brushing by his shoulder roughly as he wiped the sweat from his neck. “Your hands tingling yet?” Inuyasha froze. “That’s the beginning of nerve damage.” The dark-haired player spun around to stare at the manager who had been his friend for years. “I knew it. You’re not going to be able to throw or catch a ball, let alone swing a bat, if you don’t cool it, Inuyasha.” He opened his mouth to argue, only to snap it closed as the tension in his shoulders caused a sudden shock through his arms, as though he’d been electrocuted just a touch. It did not feel good. “Fine. I… Fine. I’ll take it easy for a few days.” “Not just easy. I’m banning you from practice for the next few days.” “Hey! I thought you said you weren’t going to suspend me!” “I’m not. But you are going to take a full-stop vacation from this sport for the next few days or I will actually suspend you.”

Clickety Clack an @inu-spiration bang with @kalcia!

Summary: Inuyasha has had it with his upstairs neighbor. They have one of those annoying keyboards that click click clicks, and apparently the best time to type is 3-fucking-AM. Well... Inuyasha is finally at the end of his rope, so he goes to confront this neighbor. What greets him at the door is the opposite of what he expects.

Man oh man. 2022 was a punch to the gut of a year. I’m so grateful to get to welcome 2023 in with a little meet cute InuKag for the @inu-spiration bang, partnered with my wonderful friend and the incomparable @kalcia. My darling, without you here being my friend and supporting and talking with me, this story would not have happened. Thank you and I’m so so glad we’ve made it through another year as friends. To many more collaborations in the future ♥️

Hello everyone! It was my honor to be paired with the amazing @valuvi​ for Inu-spiration 4. I had a blast working with her, and her creative process was incredibly inspirational for me as I worked on this story. Thank you, dear, for your vision in bringing this story to life! Her art is included below; please go and give her all the love 💖

Story Summary: Kagome cannot believe that she agreed to let Miroku drag her to his prom to make his ex-girlfriend jealous! And of course, as soon as they got there, Miroku and Sango immediately made up, leaving Kagome all alone.

Luckily for her, though, she’s not alone.

She has the punch bowl… And the handsome, grouchy, hanyō who’s manning it… To keep her company.

Homecoming

I couldn't ask for a better partner for this @inu-spiration collab! @elevenharbor totally outdid herself (you can see her art here, or check out the fic).

Summary: She needed to go back—to apologize, to explain—but the well refused to listen, leaving Kagome with the bitter realization that in her moment of weakness, she’d doomed herself to grow up in a world without her friends, without magic—without him.

Sneak Peek

Kagome placed her hand on the well-house door, a ritual she'd developed over the years that both hurt and helped.

Her mother had been so supportive, considering how dark those first few months had been. The woman had the patience of a saint, and Kagome went out of her way to make sure she knew how grateful she was. She'd been a lifeline, giving Kagome enough responsibility to distract but not overwhelm, until the day when she'd been able to function again.

To greet the day of her own volition.

To accept what had happened.

Mostly.

She always hoped, begged, that it was all a bad dream, that she'd wake up in her hut, or even the forest, to the sight of concerned gold hovering over her—a hallucination resulting from lingering near the well and catching a cold.

But every day she woke up in her room, pink walls closing in on her as resentment festered within the confines of her heart. She had no one to blame but herself; she should've known that the well was temperamental and that it wouldn't be as simple as jumping through and coming back like she'd done before.

The only reason that resentment didn't evolve into something more was the fact that her need to see her mother had been real. Her young mind hadn't been able to cope with Sesshoumaru's sudden rejection, and she'd needed to talk to someone older, someone who knew.

And yet.

And yet. 

Here she was, seven years later, still hovering outside the well-house. She could pretend she'd moved on—the job and the car were a good enough guise—but the resentment at being kept out was nothing compared to the hope of being able to go back.

Happy Solstice Inufandom! No matter where you live on this green Earth of ours, I wish you and yours joy on the longest day or night.
