I just think that Pat and Humphrey could have a really great friendship and i always try to include this in my fics. like. they kind of have a similar sort of loneliness in my humble onion but i don't have the brain right now to explain it haha. maybe i should do a longer post about that. i just wish that they explored it more in the show!

22. something i like in fics when it comes to the Captain: when he's fumbling and awkward but has unintentional rizz because i think that would actually happen. something i don't like: i don't know, just if i start reading and he seems uncomfortably out of character. and most things havers related i suppose!

adjshflk sorry this took so long; I get both excited and nervous writing for a new fandom, so I hope these are okay!! Under a cut bc I’m shy dfghjhgf

Tanngrisnir:

Despite his injury, he has trouble sitting still; since he couldn’t do much else for awhile, he poured all his excess energy into taking care of his home, and he’s gotten pretty good at it by now. Even when he was single, his house was overwhelmingly cozy— and now that he’s got you to take care of, it feels more like a home than ever before.

Unsurprisingly, there’s always something cooking— if it’s not soup on the stove, he’s probably got something baking. He already loved cooking, but now he’s excited to learn what kinds of things you like to eat too. If you’re good at cooking, he’d love to work with you and put something really nice together— but if you can’t cook, he’s equally giddy to teach you at least some basics.

Listen. Tanngrisnir is definitely a bit cheesy, even if it is kinda embarrassing. He is absolutely the type to get you both matching sweaters or accessories, he packs your lunch each morning and always includes a handwritten note of some kind, and if his schedule ever allows for it then he swings by on your lunch breaks to eat together. Yeah, he knows he’ll get to see you when he gets home, but that just isn’t soon enough—

He’s pretty sure he wants kids of his own one day, but doesn’t really have any preferences beyond that; whether you actively have children together or end up adopting, he’s just happy to have a family. But since most of his time as a teacher has been with older students, he’s a bit at a loss when it comes to super young kids— not really sure how to handle babies, but he’ll do his best.

Okay this isn’t relevant but. I like to think his horns are sensitive. And the weight of his fur bothers him in warmer weather, so he’ll probably let you help him with grooming too.

Toji:

With as stubborn as he is, Toji has a lot of trouble adjusting to someone new in his life— he’s dead set in most of his ways, and never actually thought he’d have someone to share his life with, so he fumbles for a bit. He gets used to it eventually though— he’d never realized how nice it would be to come home to someone waiting for him, instead of an empty house.

He’s an early riser for sure, out of bed with the sun, and he’s not nearly as quiet as he could be— if he’s not muttering to himself while looking through the closet for his clothes, he’s in the kitchen cooking something far too loudly. He just isn’t used to having someone else around, so in his tiredness, he carries on like he’s still alone. You can prevent this by just rolling over on top of him before he goes anywhere— he’ll complain, but he’ll stay in bed with you a bit longer.

He’s not as good as, say, Shiro, but Toji’s still a wonder in the kitchen; you’re constantly waking up to a full-course breakfast and the best coffee or tea you’ve ever had, and if you work out of the house, Toji always has a lunch prepared too. His excuse is always that he just needs to keep himself busy, but he’s so transparent.

His love language is a combination of acts of service and quality time; since his words tend to fail him, he just provides for you as best as he knows how. If you’re clearly having a difficult day, he takes care of all the cooking and cleaning until you feel better; he has basic knowledge with a needle and thread, so he’ll mend small tears in your clothes, or replace missing buttons; if you just need to rest, he’s perfectly content sitting quietly in the same room with you, both of you doing your own thing. He’s not super needy, but he always wants to be there if you need him.

His horns are definitely reactive and burn brighter when he’s embarrassed, no I don’t take criticism. Also his kids totally get them too, and the first time they light up he just about keels over.
