Ilia Malinin (USA): First skater in history to successfully perform all 6 types of quadruple jumps. Malinin completed the set after landing a clean quad loop at the 2023 Grand Prix Final.
I’m not even going to lie, that was the most insane men’s free skate I have ever witnessed. Adam jumps to the podium after being in the first warm-up group, Yuma wins his third Worlds silver, and Ilia with a flawless free skate after all the question marks this week. The emotions. The whiplash. The drama.
Ilia Malinin (USA) performs his short program to Malagueña at the 2023 Grand Prix Final, landing the first quadruple axel jump in the short program with a GOE of +3.04 and setting a new record for highest base value in a short program in the latest scoring system (50.60).
Ilia Malinin (USA): Succession | 2024 World Championships
19-year-old Ilia Malinin wins the 2024 World Championships with a world record-breaking free skate. He scored 227.79 points with six quadruple jumps, including his own signature quad axel!
Well that was an insane competition and an insane podium.
Ilia just defied physics here. Five quads including quad axel. (RIP Nathan's 2019 world record you will be missed)
Adam from 19th to bronze medal with a backflip and two points deduction for shits and giggles.
Yuma in his supposedly recovery season with the silver medal at worlds. Also fun fact every time Yuma competed at worlds he got a silver. It's a 3/3 strike for him so far. Also that was by far the most complete performance of the night. Just gorgeous all around.
I’m losing my mind. Adam bronze up from 19TH IN THE SP?? WITH A BACKFLIP? Gutted for shoma but he was smiling at least! I was rooting for Yuma but it was such a shame about that fall on the 3A ))):
Ilia’s skating doesn’t do much in terms of PCS, but fuck if he didn’t deserve that win. jesus christ
I can’t believe so many men flopped and none of them enough to get Sasha into the top 10 for two estonia spots 😭 he was so close
