One advantage I would say Island 2023 season 1 has over the season 2 is how they were a lot more willing to have more conflicts that weren't purely centered on the main villain.

Sure season 1 has Julia as the big villain, but we had other characters to stir up conflict on their own such as Bowie's strategy, Chase's toxic behavior with Emma, Ripper's attitude that causes conflict with the others, MK hacking the confessionals, and Scary Girl being Scary Girl, which helped in keeping the cast dynamics more varied rather than centering all the conflict on just one person. I know people give Ripper and Chase flak (I personally think season 1 Ripper is better than what people give him credit for), but at least they were among the characters helping keep the cast dynamics interesting beyond just "let's hate one villain and be glued to one other person" for the merge.

Season 2 on the other hand doesn't do this with Julia being the only one stirring up conflict by the time of the merge (admitedly Island 2007 has this problem too with Heather but that's a different post on its own) where among the conflict drivers of last season, Chase and Scary Girl are the first two boots of the season, Bowie got out early into the merge, and Ripper got demoted to just making out with Axel when the merge began until his own anticlimactic elimination. At most MK's the only other one giving conflict with the cheating on Team Skunk Butt putting her at odds with Raj, Wayne, and later Bowie, but that's dropped too once the merge begins with Chris outing her for cheating and MK more or less just being Julia's partner in crime rather than an individual threat. This probably does contribute to why Julia feels way more OP in the season 2 merge than she did last time (now being the only one promoting conflict) and the season eventually becoming the "Julia, Priya, and Caleb show" in the second half with more isolated cast dynamics likely coming from this.

But yeah Season 1 felt like everyone had something to do and weren't limited to just small groups, and this includes antagonism and conflict, which I think not only harkens back to the original Island, but I'd argue reboot season 1 did somethings better regarding conflict coming from multiple places. Season 2 would have been so much better if Julia wasn't the only troublemaker and MK was allowed some semblance of agency (and if Julia didn't last as long as she did but that's another matter)

And as for Heather, she isn't perfect, but to play devil's advocate for her, that was the first season of the show ever and most of her shenanigans were at least on screen.

How do you think new characters like Skye, Aunt Julia, and Cleveland would be integrated into s3 of tsitp? How do you think Steven, Taylor, and Cam Cameron would fit into s3’s storyline, since they’re given more prominence in the show?

i loved cleveland in season 1 (and his brief appearance in season 2) and i would love to see him in season 3. i think that laurel deserves to be happy with him but more importantly i want to see his relationship with conrad. it's mentioned in passing that cleveland has called conrad but like i need more than that, conrad really needs that support and deserves it since the people he loves most treat him like trash. i know conrad has a lot of deep bonding moments with laurel in book 3 but he deserves that father figure

i think aunt julia was brought into the storyline truly to mirror the relationship between conrad and jeremiah, so i could see them utilizing her to help conrad and jeremiah make up. aside form the fact that i just don't think jeremiah deserves to have conrad in his life, i honestly don't know how they'll fit everything into one season so i am once again in my prayer circle for book 3 to be split into two seasons

i'm going to be so real with you i have no idea what the purpose of skye was. they added nothing to the story so the only way i'd see them being in season 3 is in relation to the wedding/aunt julia (though i didn't read the books so idk how close they actually get to the wedding.. like are guests in town already??)

same with cam cameron. he's a fun addition to the group but there's not much to him outside of that, i think he should be brought back maybe with some of the deb girls just for the fact that they're all in cousins during the summer and he's a cutie that we all love. if the writers weren't such cowards then he could've dated jeremiah but now i don't wish that cruel fate on anyone 🫠

steven and taylor are mains so i could see them having their own storyline with their relationship away from the others. i don't know what they're doing while everything is going on with belly and conrad at the summer house but they'll definitely have their own plot in addition to being with the group closer to the wedding. i think a big role for them will be sort of the outside pov of the triangle (with king steven being team conrad vs taylor slumming it on team jeremiah 😂) i am going to need steven to be a good brother and tell belly what's up because not only does he know and love belly as his sister, he knows and loves conrad as his best friend/brother. i would absolutely love it if steven gave conrad some sort of push to tell belly the truth before its too late or likewise gave belly some sort of push towards accepting she'll never love jeremiah the way she loves conrad

i would also pay real american dollars to see steven and taylor beat up jeremiah when they find out he's a cheater 🙊

Things Magnus expected from this event were as followed: sugar-filled children with no sense of how to slow down. Getting hit literally anywhere on his body with a soccer ball. Sweating a lot, like an absurd amount. Potentially having to leave early because Angus got tired. Potentially having to leave early because Angus got hurt. Potentially having to leave early- y'know, a lot of things could cause them to leave early. The end of the story is that Magnus had come prepared with his first aid fit, Angus's epi-pen, a cooler full of water bottles, and several big hats.

A thing Magnus wasn't expecting from this event: The downright gorgeous woman at the snow cone truck parked outside the soccer field. It was half-time and, after showering Angus with enough praise to make him start looking embarrassed and squirm away, Magnus had taken a break to go stretch his legs. A few families with children who weren't on the team were lined up at the truck. Magnus glanced back at the field, where he could just about see Angus's team huddled up, and decided what Angus didn't know couldn't hurt him.

"What can I get for you?" she said and Magnus nearly forgot how to speak. He cleared his throat, glancing behind him. He was the last one in line. The game was probably going to start again soon.

"Uh, mango, please?" Magnus said.

"Comin' right up," she said. She stepped back into her truck, just enough to not be at the window anymore, and got a cup out for Magnus. "You here to support anyone?"

"Yes!" Magnus said because if there was anything he could talk about in the face of a pretty person, it was Angus. "My kid, Angus, he's midfield for this game. And, I mean, the odds aren't looking too hot right now but I know they're gonna step up their game in the second half. He's been working so hard for this."

"I'm sure," snow cone woman said, smiling.

They faded into silence as she scooped some more shaved ice into his cup. Magnus bounced against the heels of his feet.

"So, uh," he said. "You come here often?"

Fuck. That was a stupid thing to say. Does she come here often? God.

"I do," and she was still smiling. Magnus tried not to be too hard on himself for that. "It's a pretty good spot to sell in the summer. And game nights are pretty good for my revenue."

"I can imagine," Magnus said. She turned her back to him, pumping some mango syrup onto the shaved ice. When she turned back to him, she slid the cup towards him and said,

"One sixty, please."

Magnus fished his wallet out of his back pocket and the woman leaned against the counter, smiling down on him. He handed over the proper change and she took it, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

"Do you come here often?" she asked.

"Oh, y'know," Magnus said, taking the cup. "Game nights, mostly. We practice at a field closer to home. Uh, Roost Park, if you know the one."

"I'm right around Roost Park!" the woman said. "Maybe I'll check it out sometimes. With- with the truck, of course."

"Of course," Magnus said. Don't blush. Don't blush. Don't blush. Goddamnit. Magnus ducked his head. "I hope to see you around...?"

"Julia," she said. "And you're-?"

There was a whistle from the field. Magnus nearly dropped his snow cone in surprise. When he turned, the teams were heading back out onto the field.

"I gotta go," Magnus said. "I'll talk to you later!"

He started jogging off towards the field and heard Julia laugh from behind him. About halfway towards the gate, he turned and shouted back,

"The name's Magnus, by the way!"

Julia shot him a thumbs up, grinning brighter than the afternoon sun. Magnus had a pretty good feeling about the rest of the game as he made his way back to his seat.

Mission: Impossible 3 + 4 Review

Mission Impossible 3 (2006): Directed by JJ Abrams

They weren't lying, there is a lot of running in this movie, but I won't lie, Tom Cruise is real good at it. As for the movie itself, I'd say that this is the first great movie in the franchise, but it's not without its problems. The beginning really doesn't leave a good impression, with Ethan getting married to a woman who never gets a single chance to show any personality and the action scenes being quick-cut bullshit in the dark so we never get a single chance to see anything. I honestly think that the first action scene is worse than any action scene from the second movie, which is saying a lot. But once Ethan goes on that mission to kidnap Philip Seymour Hoffman, it's smooth sailing. I was trying to see how far I could go without mentioning him, but his character, Davian, is the best part of the movie and the best villain in the franchise so far. He's so effortlessly intimidating and him kidnapping Julia means that Ethan now has more personal stake in this mission outside of just the cause or his job or a random woman he barely knows. I said that she's not a great character on her own, but I cared about Ethan getting Julia back by the end of the movie, and that's made better by the fact that this is by far the best Tom Cruise performance I've seen in my life. He plays vengeful sorrow so well I thought I might as well join Scientology if it means I become THAT good of an actor (spoilers: I won't). Oh, and the action is good from there because it includes some great humor and character moments. Probably my favorite moment is in the final act where SPOILERS: Ethan shows Julia how to use a gun and protect herself while he short-circuits his brain. It's a surprisingly wholesome moment and the bit where he says "I love you" before he dies is really nice, too. Overall, this movie is really good. Not amazing or anything, but I would definitely watch it again someday, which is more than I could say for both previous movies.

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011) Directed by Brad Bird

Looks like we're finally getting to the good shit, because Ghost Protocol has some kickass action scenes. Brad Bird is a master at this kind of stuff, and he really got to flex with this movie. There's too many cool sequences to count, like the infiltration into the Kremlin, the climb up the Burj Khalifa, the chase in the sandstorm, the final fight in the car lot, all of the action scenes have such a feeling of scale and spectacle, compounded by the amazing music, cinematography and editing. On top of that, the actual story of this movie is really solid, giving Ethan Hunt and his team no way of getting backup or help from anyone they can trust and dangling the threat of nuclear warfare over their heads is a great way of upping the stakes from the last 3 movies, and I'm really interested in what they do next movie. This kinda gave me vibes to the last act of Edge of Tomorrow with how stacked the odds were against them. With that being said, I do have a major problem with the actual dialogue. The plot is rock-solid, and some characters are good. Ethan is as charismatic as ever, Bogdon and Benji are nice additions to the field, and Hendricks is played by the best villain from John Wick which is based, but I can't say I really care about any other character. Jane is kind of a nothing character, which sucks because there's plenty they could've done with her character and her revenge quest, and I don't need to tell you that replacing Luther with Jeremy fucking Renner is a downgrade in every way. Plus, there's a bunch of jokes in this movie that feels like "MCU-style humor," where the characters joke around in a serious situation in the most forced ways possible. It works for the MCU (most of the time), not so much here. Still, this movie fucking rules and I can't wait to watch the next movie later tonight.

After that press conference twitter blew up as well as every other platform. Seb's and your fans were literally teaming up. Team-get-back-together and team-no-forgiveness. You never reacted to any of them as you felt it was nice of them to care, but it was really not anybody's space except yours and his. And you still weren't sure if you could forgive and move on. On one hand he had hurt you greatly, on the other you were still sure he was the one. At some point Chris started to nag both of you to get you to talk. He saw both of you, he knew your feelings, he wanted his friends to be happy which funny enough was only beside eachother. You were too proud to see and to take the first step, Seb was afraid of rejection.

In the midst of it all an Online magazine wanted a deep interview with Seb. You didn't know of it until Chris sent you the link saying :

-I told you you two need to talk. Idiots.

Then you decided to watch the interview. Seb was sitting in your once shared living room. He was smiling but it didn't reach his eyes.

*in the videochat with the interviewer*

Int. : So Sebastian, i'm really glad that you agreed to this interview. Since parts of your private life shook the internet, blown up Twitter nearly everybody in the industry is trying to figure out what will your next step be, But first we are really interested in the timeline of what got you two to this point.. Would you tell us about that?

Seb: I can only tell my point of view really. We were filming the first Captain America film, when Chris brought this -stepped-out-of-heaven- girl. I really thought she did. She was the prettiest woman i ever saw. They were friends since childhood, and he managed to get her a side part in the movie, as she was just starting out her career. I remember begging to Chris for her number. He said i'd need to get it myself. - he chuckled at the memory - I feel like it was yesterday when i stood outside her room, anxious like a high-schooler asking his crush to prom, whos way out of his league. Then all my nervousness flew out the window when she opened that door with a 1000 watt smile. She agreed to a coffee date. From that day forward i tried everything to be near her, to hear her voice, to see her smile reach her eyes. I knew that day that i wouldn't want to be with anybody else ever, so like two weeks into the relationship i bought a ring, and waited for the perfect opportunity. It was just like Jim and Pam from the office.. I knew she's the one the day she agreed to the first date. We went to Greece, and i proposed. We were the happiest. Especially me when the woman of my life said yes.. Then she got other movies to film, videos to shoot, albums to record, i had the avenger movies and a few side parts. We were happy together but life had a way of keeping us at a distance. I wasn't able to go with her to any conferences, premieres, galas, neither could she with me. With the avengers, more fame came, that meant more and more people around me. Somewhere along the way i lost myself. She was still next to me, she was quiet about all my faults, she tried to ignore my phone blewing up with models messaging me. But there was one who was really presistent. I don't know why, but i asked her to come with me to Cannes, i never planned on doing anything but well.. I had to fuck up. I had to bear the consequences of my actions. So when i got home i found the engagement ring, along with a picture of me and said model on the red carpet in Cannes. The tabloids were full of us, saying she was the one, when she really wasnt. There were dried tears on the picture, with a note : -The one you said not to worry about- I broke down then and there. I considered quitting, running after her, begging, But i wasn't able to reach her. It was too late. Of course i reached for alcohol, which made me take even worse choices. Lines of models along my side.

Int. : And did you have anyone else along the way, until now?

Seb: No i didn't, as i said, i know i fucked up badly, but she still is the only one.

Int. : So then what is the next step?

Seb: I don't know yet, at least not how to start. As for the internet blowing up with us, thank you all for your concern, it is heartwarming to see how many people care about her, or even me, how many people would go protect her heart, and how many people are waiting for us to just realize what we want. It is still very much private and we'd like to keep it that way, but it is still heartwarming.

Int. : So let's say she is watching this interview, is there anything you'd like to tell her?

Seb: I'd just want her to know that i know my mistake, and that i'd never forgive myself, even if she ever do, but i love her with all my heart, and i would give everything away just to have her next to me in this big empty house we built together.

You stopped the video. You were crying but you didn't know if it was happy tears or sad. You went to your wardrobe, and took out the box from the very back containing all your pictures together. The last one is of you showing your ring, with him hugging you from behind looking at you with so much love and adoration. You clutch the photo to your heart.

You were working on a song with a fellow musician, and it was just about perfect, you asked if you two could shoot a video for it, maybe in greece, or the UK, or anywhere really. Just running around in a field in the sunset in slowmo.. then at night in the city, searching for your other half or something. He agreed. The plan was in motion. You were friends so you could tell him that this was the way you planned on letting Seb know that you're willing to start again slowly.

You took a big breath, exhaled slowly, then hitting send.

*on Seb's phone*

Doll: Wanna be in the new video?

Seb: Tell me the time and place..

Then soon enough you all were out in a field of flowers between mountains with the sunset, you had let Chris tag along to watch, you were smiling, running in your sundress, twirling around in the sunlight, Seb was not far behind, chasing you, he picked you up and twirled around with you. Not letting go when he put you down. Bodies flushed just as the chorus started as you were looking into eachothers eyes with smiles.

"Put your hands on my body just like you think you know me Want your heart beating on me, don't leave me hot and lonely I don't usually give in to peer pressure But I'll give in to yours"

With that he took his pointer finger under your chin, and kissed you softly for the first time in years. When he let you go you pushed your foreheads together. Nothing existed in that moment just you two, finally in eachothers arms again. As it should be. You didn't hear Chris and the rest of the crew cheer and holler in the back.

After you finished shooting, you retired to your room, and there was a knock on your door. You opened it with a big smile knowing full well who will be on the other side.

Seb gave you his 1000 watt smile which finally reached his eyes, and you couldn't help but smile back just as happy.

-Do you wanna have coffee?

-I would love nothing more. - you said.

He held out his hand for you to take, and you gladly did. Chris shaking his head near with a smile, running after you two

-WAIT FOR ME YOU MORONS.

Half a year later you are sitting next to Anthony with Seb on his other side on a press conference because you joined the new season of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, as a potential love interest for Bucky, but as a new widow as well. Of course the questions regarding the series are soon die out.

-Miss (Y/L/N), is that sparkly thing on your finger what we think it is?

You look over to Seb, he is smiling like a little kid on Christmas Eve, so you motion him that he can tell. All heads turn to him.

-She said yes !! - he said happily. You all smiled. Anthony laughed in the middle

-Again? - laughs rang in the conference room.

-For good this time.. - you said, looking into Seb's eyes.

Themed teams are part of the fun in Fire Emblem Heroes for me, as it's a way to put favorites together and even make a full team with all/some of their variants, while most of my teams are purely technical (i. e.: of a movement type, for a specific event, for lead units friends can use, etc.), I have made 5 themed teams that I keep and love, feel free to check them out right below, along with a few facts about me as a bonus:

She's so precious she has her own team! 💜🥺

One of my biggest favorites and a true sweetheart, I'm fond of both the original design and the revamp on FEH and the Cipher, she's too lovable and wholesome.

Her Fallen alt is indeed a project of mine but not one I use much, once Julia gets a colorless version, I'll replace this alt out in the team.

The best team ever

It includes my three most appreciated characters in the Fire Emblem series as well as Sara who I'm strongly fond of from Thracia 776.

I like green too

I sort of have a knack for this color in long hair, and fortunately, the cast in the series is not short of them. The designs are all beautiful and unique, plus each of them feels rather soothing to look at.

Annand and Erinys are specially noteworthy because they're both sisters actually, and they both are on the good side but only one of them is playable in Genealogy of the Holy War.

Despite Annand being a minor character, I always wanted to play a game in which she's officially playable, and this is one of the good things in Heroes: normally non-playable characters can actually be under your command and this game is free and easy to get around, which is nice.

Annand would probably be the biggest surprise here, I always quite liked her design and strong-willed yet kind personality, not exactly Julia-like though, but she's still a friendly girl. I was happy to see that I.S. remembered her.

This team was made to celebrate her Legendary alt's addition and early acquisition soon after my birthday, as well as the completion of my first full rainbow team with same character.

I tried to aim for one girl of each color, based on these conditions:

Angelical designs: these girls all inspire calmness and possess a feature that strongly reminds me of angels.

Personality: it's mandatory that they show genuine kindness/tenderness/calmness in some form of another.

Sophia might look like the least fitting member here, and can't blame you if you think that way tbh, it's just that I was in need of a red member so that I didn't have to put OG Julia (because I've already placed a unit of her class) so I went with Sophia to complete the gang.

She's actually a dark magic user and a half-dragon, half-human girl, but she's so calming to look at and talk, showing also a great deal of wisdom, specially to matters related to her homeland in Nabata, Elibe.

Might put Hoshidan Summer Micaiah here later since she seems to fit the concept even better, but Idk for now, I'm happy with the team as it is.

And there's something in common among all of them

Yes, all those teams include only female characters, this is more about me so if you were only interested in the themed teams, don't read any further.

Anyway...

While it could just be said that it's because of natural attraction, that's not exclusively true and I'd like to say there's a deeper reason to it than only that.

Actually, I've always felt like I could overcome more of my own socialization problems Irl, when trying to talk to a girl rather than with a guy, during my studies at both high-school and school, I was often called for by my male classmates for making verbal jokes, and sometimes guys from other grades too (leading me to think they weren't genuine friends and some were rough or too tiresome to interact with). A few of them were actual friends which is nice, and were there for me and viceversa, but oftenmost I found myself more comfortable around girls, and even feeling confident to try to talk to the ones I used to feel shy to approach.

At least, this is how I believe my interest on fictional female character stems from, because I feel a similar sentiment and they often feel more approachable or friendlier than a guy, but this doesn't mean that I will never train a single guy in any given game there are some playable, or refuse the idea of a male-only game if there's fun awaiting, like on Team Fortress 2 which actually seems like fun.

For example, I'm very fond of Leif from Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, to the point I think of him as the best [Lord], and he is. He's not your usual [Lord], because unlike most of them, Leif was forced to flee from his hometown to rescue his closer allegiances (Nanna and Mareeta) from Raydrik's forces and had little resources to obtain and use later in his quest through Thracia (often having to capture enemies and take their possessions), he often had to watch the dire and unfair situation in his homeland, the southern half, suffering due to the infertile lands unlike the north. He's a good guy with a strong heart and disposition to learn new things, specially since he's well aware he's unable to wield the weapon of one of the Twelve Crusaders unlike his sister, who he didn't even know he had. His studious and diligent nature manifests in his promotion in FE4, which is why he becomes such a powerhouse able to use most non-preference weapons.

I also like Lex, he's a friendly guy with a playful and somewhat caring side, teaming up with Azelle since he was worried Azelle went off alone to help Sigurd and they're both quite close friends.

Veld is also kind of interesting, he's the big cheese behind nearly everything evil going on in Thracia, and sadly he's an easy boss, which seems a waste for such epic battle theme:

Eliwood also seems like the kind of guy I'd like and Hector is often fun to interact with, I specially like his dialogues with Oswin, they're real fun. (Oswin for FEH when?)
