AU where Scrat and Scratte had not only Baby Scrat, but my old fan children OC's Scart and Scarrete as well. In other words, yes, three kids lol. So here's some drawings of them all being adorable siblings together! Hope it's not too exhausting for their dear parents. XD
This is pretty much the perfect send-off for Blue Sky, as well as a great resolution for Scrat himself. I like how it's so underplayed, and not some huge moment of triumph to finally eat the darn acorn. Like it's no big deal. He just smiles a bit and hops away.
It does draw attention to how it was never explicitly stated that Scrat's been trying to bury it for the winter this whole time.
I love the attention to detail with his animal-like body language. The quick peek to see if anyone sees him, the scratching of the ear.
I do consider this canon, since Blue Sky animators made it. It's just a shame that Disney hasn't made it more widely available by putting on Disney+ (although I'm not sure where they'd put it). I suspect Disney is a little peeved that they made and released it in such a sneaky, "unofficial" way.
(Although I think this might Disney’s official Brazilian channel? I’m not sure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tScdAQsVMpkhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tScdAQsVMpk)
It makes me wonder if Scrat had finally managed to get far away enough from Baby Scrat (wish he had a better name) to be able to eat it when he wasn't looking. It is implied to take place after Scrat Tales.
It does beg the question- is this a different acorn here?
Well, the continuity of the Ice Age series has always been a little iffy.
But it's still bizarre to think that this is Scrat's ultimate fate, to find himself on an island thousands of years later. Hopefully not at the cost of being separated from Baby Scrat.
Of course, I'm thinking about this sort of thing too hard as usual.
From Scrat Tales, when we went into Scrat 's head, it was all 2D. We tried to do it in the art style of one of Blue Sky studios's OG artists, Bill Frake, who designed and storyboarded on the original Ice Age movie.
Here's a crossover artwork with 9 taking the acorn he found, then encounters a squirrel Scrat from Ice Age, all confused of what 9 really is, until the stitchpunk gives him the acorn and left XD
I thought of a quick idea of an Ice Age artwork crossovered with 9, and I LOVE Ice Age as a kid (scared the crap out of me until growing up ^^)
I am surprised Scrat wasn't even in Buck Wild (people are mad about the characters' disappearance after Collision Course), until Disney+ released Scrat Tales (which I find it cute and might watch it one day ^^)
What y'all think? Scrat is hard to draw, and I rushed through the descriptions because I might be doing stuff and won't post anything on Monday and Tuesday ^^;
All of Blue Sky’s films are stored in Disney’s 20th Century Studios film library.
