Spoilers for the 2.1 main story quest <3
I really don't have it in me to properly verbalize it rn because I'm still processing everything and we only have bits and pieces of the whole story as well as how Aventurine is as a person but. What really gets me is how Aventurine is someone who hasn't had any stability or promise of safety in his life whatsoever. He's faced loss after loss, was bought as a slave, had to fight for his life multiple times. He's told he's the lucky one, the one chosen by Gaiathra Triclops. He saw his community and family nearly be wiped out and as the future him says- he lies to himself nonstop to try and curb the fear of losing more. "You put on a mask of confidence and lie to convince even yourself, but under the table you hang on to your chips for dear life."
Aventurine has to do all that he has to do because he simply has no choice. Either he acts or he dies. He's forced to weave a web of connections and half truths- even outright lies- and balance delicately upon it. He's forced to always be three steps ahead of his enemy. He tries to treat it as a game- all or nothing- when in truth he lives in terror of losing it all. He smiles and smiles when he's trying to run from his grief and fear. How far can he run? What choice does he have? Does he even have any choices to begin with?
So the fact that he serves Qlipoth, the Preservation, and the fact that his gameplay is ridiculously plain- you use his skill, not even his ult, just his skill- to put a shield on you and your entire party. It's that easy, to have that option- to preserve what you have. It's not a gamble, not even close. That shield has a guarantee to it, it's constant- as long as you use his skill, he will protect your entire party. It really gets to me in a way I can't verbalize right now. That that's what he really wants- permanence, safety. A guarantee

so guys 🙋🏻♀️🌸 i have finished the entire new quest at last and omg 👼🏼 like this was outstanding!! you see, what i really enjoy about star rail is that it gives me similar vibes to hi3 in terms of the darkness in the plot, since hi3 is my favorite hoyo game i always love seeing stuff from it or just similar instances. SO YOU KNOW FOR A FACT I WAS SO HYPED WHEN ACHERON SHOWED UP 🤺 especially with the hi3 story with kiana as the mc being over and although i still love hi3 the most, kiana, mei and bronya, that trio, they were all the best characters together AAAARGHHH I SWEAR AND JUST THE ENTIRE STORY LINE WAS SOOO GOOD, I miss them all together as a trio and especially kiana, the best hoyo MC FOR LIFE. 🙋🏻♀️🩷
also 🤠 ^^ that frame with sunday and dr ratio like 😙😙 WAS SO FUNNY I HAD TO SS IT. 🤺
the amount of cutscenes we got to see again was so fun, it felt like watching a movie slowly unfold while you got to be a part of it 🩷 you can tell that hoyoverse gets better and better with each update on whatever game and that the cutscenes are always so well done (i always liked them but the constant upgrades ??? insane) 🙏🏻

also guys, idk but aventurine's boss fight, 🤠 i personally expected more like it was so easy to beat ?! I THOUGHT I WOULD STRUGGLE BUT HE DIED PRETTY QUICKLY BUT ITS FINE, I STILL LIKE HIS CHARACTER 🌸🙋🏻♀️. + i was happy hoyoverse showed us his backstory and took their time to flash it out and not gloss over it in idk one/two scenes, but they really took their time with it which was amazing 🩷
also jade looks so cool as well! the design is very pretty and i can't wait to see diamond too, or the rest of the ten stonehearts but they're hyping diamond up so much like another emanator?? yes please, i'm all in🧎🏻♀️🩷
this entire quest gave me movie vibes, you were on edge the entire time and even during side quests you had to take, it was still very intense. it actually took me quite a bit to finish it of course since i'm someone who doesn't skip dialog, but it was so worth it and the best way to relax after a long day of moving my body 🩷 just laying in bed, playing while drinking tea!!
what i wanted to say too, guys honestly sunday is not okay HAHAHAHAHAHAH 🌝 I MEAN LIKE you guys🧎🏻♀️, that shiver in his voice at times and you can tell he low-key doesn't even know how to handle all of that either, of course, for one he looks like everything is accounted for while in the other, he sounds like he's losing his mind and can we blame him ???? when he went "why did you kill her" and lowkey cussed gallagher out i was like damn 🤠 okay 😏 HAHA + i'm somebody that doesn't think too much about theories, instead i love eagerly waiting for the next patch!! so i'm excited for what's coming 🩷 + robin's song slaps.
last but not least 🤺 you see, gallagher wasn't really somebody i was very interested in, but damn the second he turned dangerous and spicy i went oh my oh hey what's up ?? 😏 giggles HAHA LIKE WHAT IS IT ABOUT MEN WHO ARE JUST SUDDENLY EVIL AND IDK MAYBE HE ISNT COMPLETELY RIGHT AAAAAA OOOOO UUUU WWWWW AAAAA but anyways, 🌸 the last cutscene low-key hurt me like what do you mean sunday gets off screened while i was saving up for him for what? 👹 ever since fuxuan like how can you do this to me + no way they're dead dead 🤠because the last conversation aventurine had with acheron was very important to the next patch i'm pretty sure! 🩷
all in all guys!! 🩷 this quest was beautifully done, it had a lot of hard, dark stuff and it reminded me a lot of hi3, that's why i give it a 10/10, very well done. 🌸🩷

You wake up, eyes opening wide as you sit up in bed with urgency. Clutching your chest and feeling your rapidly beating heart.
'A nightmare... Again.'
You thought, looking to the side. Locating the clock on your nightstand, it reading 3:47 am. It was the third night in a row that you got woken up because of a nightmare. It was always the same one, too.
You sighed, taking a moment before standing up and walking to the bathroom. Turning on lights as you walked past the switches. Once you reached the bathroom, you leaned on the sink, looking at yourself in the mirror. You were a mess, hair disheveled, and clothes wrinkled. You couldn't help but think back at the nightmare. Was it really a nightmare if it was more so based on memories? You didn't know, but you'd call it one anyway. It's been years since you've had a dream, let alone a nightmare. It's also almost been a decade since that happened. The reason for your nightmares and deep-buried hate.
Oh, wait- Penacony... You were in said planet already, right? Right, the Charmony festival is around the corner... you almost forgot. You sighed, splashing cold water on your face as you then walked out of the bathroom. Finally realizing you were in your hotel room, how embarrassing. You decided that you were going out for a walk. Despite the always-busy streets of the Golden Hour, you couldn't bring yourself to complain about the noise. It was rather appreciated right now.
As you walked mindlessly, you came across a woman. She was tall, of fair skin and deep purple hair. She had a red umbrella with herself, despite the fact that the dreamscape had no weather. There was... something off about that woman. It was almost as if she brought you memories, memories that didn't seem to be yours.
Before you even had time to process it, you found yourself walking towards her, tapping her shoulder gently once close enough.
"Excuse me...?"
Your voice seemed to snap her out of her thoughts, or at least you could assume it did, given how she turned around. She didn't speak, simply tilting her head slightly as she scanned your features, almost analyzing you.
Suddenly, she speaks, and you feel your knees going weak. How was she so familiar yet still a stranger to you?
"Have we met before?"
Your heart almost skipped a beat, her voice. That voice.. Her voice.
"Acheron...?"

HSR thoughts (about Penacony) under the cut.
I got the reveal about Firefly right. Yeah, still don't trust her. Anyway.
Loved the main quests so far, more than the Luofu. I had a feeling it was going that way for Gallagher, but the ending with Sunday surprised me.
Loved Aventurine here, I hope they do more POV switches for future quests. Sorry Acheron, skipping you this time. I just need to bring that IPC gambler and his light cone home, since I need a good shielder too.
I was thinking, is the devil in velvet Aventurine, or Gallagher? It can be Aventurine considering he took to the stage in the final battle for this part of the quest, and the curtains in a stage / theater are traditionally velvet (or velour). But I think it can also refer to Gallagher - and the curtains here are a metaphor (how I interpreted it: he hides behind the curtains, so to speak, of other people's identities and that of being a hound with a penchant for mixing drinks).
Curious about the dormancy Ratio said though - is it a coma? A soul death? Removal of emotions and will? Or it's literally becoming dormant, a state where time stops for a person and they remain unaware of anything and everything? It certainly isn't the physical, end-of-all-things end that death literally is. Because that is what happened to Aventurine, and he will surely be back, if he can make it through that (I feel he would, it's strongly hinted by his future self, Acheron, and himself at the end of this part of the main quest). Though I hope he won't get himself involved in the end game and just live a nice life somewhere else with the rare message to the Trailblazer here and there.😂 I feel it's a coma though, I remember there was a dialog about someone else or a guest dying and they never woke up (or I might be misremembering, need to recheck the wiki).
So excited for what's next, because:
Jade is coming to Penacony to finish what Aventurine started
Now that Sunday's "dead", I think the truth about the "deaths" will finally be revealed, and I'm curious about his involvement in the next part
Boothill's probably going to show up and challenge Acheron or straight up just try and kill her
More Gallagher involvement
We are going to get the Harmony trailblazer next patch I think
I'm also loving the bartending event right now, makes me want to stock up on my liquor. 😂 Just an occasional drinker, I mostly have wines right now, I want to stock up on some of the harder ones and make myself something nice. I love Siobhan.🥹

Making my oc is literally the first thing I do for every new piece of media because my first instinct is always "What would I do in this situation?" and "How do I make fanfic out of this?"
As for bg3, I am glad I get to try out all of my d&d characters I made over the years because I'm either DM or I can never get a group of people to play properly. Also!! I was able to change Acheron into shadow magic sorcerer after all, it just took some fiddling around 😭
Essentially you can change your main/first class in game which discouraged me a little since sorcerer was my secondary class AND I wanted to keep warlock as my main class (especially since it's my favourite class). But I figured I can just change my class to something else then change it back to warlock and multiclass with shadow sorcerer. And drows are dark elves and they're my absolute favourite race to play. I rarely ever play anything else tbh.
And I do encourage you to try and make ocs because it's super fun and immersive and actually a good way to break writer's block! And sorry if I'm yapping about this and bg3 too much but now that I'm actually able to play 😭 I could just talk about Acheron and the game for ages!

I genuinely admire that you make your own ocs and give them a backstory and work on their appearance and create certain relationship with each character in the story
I mean in a way I make ocs too but in my head and I am the character I just skip the backstory and all the different relationships to the characters and jump straight into daydreaming about different type of scenarios 🏃🏻♂️
Also as someone who has never actually played bg3 this is a whole other language to me but I’m happy you got your character just the way you wanted to and I hope you’re having sm fun with the game 🫶🏻

₊⊹ Sunghoon is literally perfect. He embodies the feeling of a kdrama moment. What I mean is when time stands still, hair tousled by the breeze, the gleaming sun's warmth radiating perfectly, and your heart fluttering with that giddy feeling. But also his personality, he's probably the only (bias) I bias that is alot like me. Loud introverts! He's just so fun and chill and comforting I really can't express it. Tho, him and San both make me want to run into their arms, hug them and never let go. They look like the give amazing hugs.
I totally understand, Hee stood out the second he entered frame for me but I think it was also heavily because of his singing. Sometimes a member only really capture ur attention later on, like at the right moment. What ur experiencing rn is exactly what I'm going through with sunghoon. Ive always noticed him or knew him by name and face, but only after blessed cursed era did I start having complications with biasing. Since then, it's been a constant back and forth. I start watching every sunghoon clip I could get my hands on! Edits, fics.. Devoured. ENJOY it hehe❤️

Hi pix, it's 🌺Anon!
So... I have a problem, and I'd like to know if you have it as well. Dan heng il is running right now, and I had him e1, and obviously wanted his light cone. Next is jingyuan, and again, I need his lightcone.
The problem however, is my "I'm building pity" attitude. I got Dan heng's light cone at this patch's release at pity 69. Then I said I'll build pity, and got it again last week at pity 26. And 5 minutes ago I said again "I'll build pity" and got it AGAIN at pity 7.
Someone take this account from me until jingyuan is out 😭😭😭😭
I swear I'm not getting jingyuan's lightcone anymore, and I'm gonna cry myself to sleep if I don't 💀

While the 2.0 livestream didn't mention the banner four-stars for the new patch, they did post them afterwards, so here's the current timeline of banner four-stars updated to the new patch!
Points of interest:
Tingyun officially has the record for shortest gap between banner appearances, showing up in Ruan Mei's banner, skipping Doctor Ratio, then coming right back in Black Swan's banner.
Yukong currently holds the record for longest time since appearing in a banner. When v2.1 rolls around she'll have been out of the picture for 9 banners, though this is mitigated somewhat by her appearing as a claimable reward a couple times (including in the new patch). Pela's not far behind her.
Character that have yet to be rerun more than once: Dan Heng, Yukong, Arlan, Luka, and Lynx (you could count Guinaifen and Hanya but they just got their banner so I'm not).
Personal predictions on the v2.1 banners:
Pela to go with Acheron since they're both Nihility.
Yukong to pair with Aventurine since they're both Imaginary.
Arlan or Serval for Acheron's banner as fellow Lightning characters.
Luka on the Aventurine banner.
Maybe Xueyi on Acheron's banner too.

My profile picture is from the 1.5 Nameless Medal reward, "Yanqing: Odyssey" in-game profile picture. The username is a reference to the character Campanella from Night on the Galactic Railroad, and La Campanella by Liszt., which you can listen to here.
A side-blog for Honkai: Star Rail. My UID is not up for sharing, mostly because my Yanqing is pitiful and nobody borrows him. (I'm still grinding for better relics and nothing is rolling crit.)
I downloaded Honkai: Star Rail because I've been playing Genshin Impact since the first Lantern Rite (or launch if you want to argue technicalities) and kept playing this game since I was enamored with the space-fantasy elements. The feeling I get from playing and hanging around the Astral Express reminds me of Kenji Miyazawa's Night On The Galactic Railroad, which is a story I'm very fond of.
Futilely trying to learn more about the game's lore. Unfortunately, I'm not particularly invested in most of the characters or going through the in-game readables, but the worldbuilding is interesting enough.
I might write fanfic or draw fanart about whatever catches my interest, who knows. It might be NSFW. Ideally I'll keep in mind to tag for that sort of thing, but I'm not perfect and it might slip my mind. This is your warning.
Fun facts (STC)!
Trailblaze level 70. Played since launch, got bored and skipped out on most of 1.3 and all of 1.4 (not that I missed anything important), and crawled back in 1.5...
Trailblazer: Stelle. I don't care about Caelus.
Favorite character: Yanqing. Runner up: Acheron.
I like reading about lore (sci-fi fantasy worldbuilding goes hard) and, against my will, character meta/theorycrafting.
With a couple of exceptions, I see everyone as bisexual. Do not separate BronSeele.
I'm not picky with ships, but I can't bring myself to say I actively enjoy some of the more popular ones... ships like RenHeng, KafHime, (and to an extent) SamPard, and RatioRine don't hold much weight, the way I see it. That can change in a distant future.
Please don't expect much. I regularly fall off the plane of existence to a vanishing point in the horizon, and I don't know when I'll be back when that happens.

SS continues. It's kind of bad!
Done with the bridge, Gronder is skipped, and done with Merceus also, so all that's left is two maps of Edelgard, Shambhala and I guess evil Rhea or whatever.
I have to say that I did not initially appreciate just HOW MUCH of the post-skip is copy-pasted. I also checked the chapter list for AM, and it's pretty much entirely the same. We take the same freaking bridge in Alliance territory for some god-forsaken reason, apparently? Even though an Arianrhod map exists? That's going to be interesting in like six months when I get to it.
But while Claude making us do VW by proxy was kind of funny in a stupid way, Gronder is a disaster. I am in genuine awe of how poorly handled that was.
So Gronder takes place off screen. We don't go there AND, get this, the entire month when it would take place is just erased from the calendar. There's no April! They did not even pretend to be putting in some effort here. They just excised the entire month along with the map.
And just thinking about Gronder gives me a headache. What was Claude even doing there? Leicester is specifically a hot mess, and I can't see us killing Lorenz at the bridge improving the situation much. And yet Claude goes off to Gronder and uuuh "disappears." At this point, I'm going to assume that he sent Judith's troops and dumped all that on us because he had already decided to peace out and he went to Gronder purely for the purposes of faking his death. That makes about as much sense as anything else.
Dimitri ghost is also funny. My dude, I still don't know anything about you... please go haunt someone who cares.
Anyway, liveblogging notes:
Catherine says that Alliance nobles are weird but in a good way. You won't find "such big-hearted nobles" elsewhere. This is in reference to Judith (and Claude by extension) helping us.
Shamir considers Judith's spy network to be impressive, given that she had people able to spot Rhea being taken away by the Imperial Army in the chaos of the invasion five years ago.
It's mentioned that aside from Count Gloucester being supposedly devout (doubt), the commoners also support the Knights of Seiros. (Update: this is very funny given that he sends his son to die on our swords for uuuh no particular reason.)
Lord Gwendal's daughter fell in love with Sylvain once lol (Update: Ingrid's version of this is that, at fifteen, Sylvain sought "relentlessly" to involve himself with her.)
The two territories on either side of the Great Bridge of Myrddin are Acheron to the north (the one in Lorenz's paralogue) and Bergliez to the south. That's Caspar's dad, and he's been getting on swimmingly in Edelgard's new regime.
The dark merchant looks like one of the Agarthan mages lol, but the quest to get them to appear gives you a Morfis battalion, so I suppose that's where they're actually from?
Seteth says alcohol has little effect on him.
It's specified that Rhea had disabled the Phantoms and Altered Golems in the Holy Tomb in order to allow the ceremony (of throne-sitting) to take place. It seems that she also didn't create those defenses but rather they came pre-built with the Tomb...? Or maybe Seteth means Seiros (not "Rhea") created them back in the day, who can even tell.
Alois is pretty nice to use. Shamir is consistently useful. Seteth is fine. Hanneman is annoying as hell and had gotten killed way too many times. And Manuela not having physic is a bad joke.
The great bridge is a bit of hilarious mess. We get ambushed by warp reinforcements from Acheron, then Lorenz and his goons show up too. Bye, Lorenz. It's your own fault for dying.
Seteth comments on how some imperial troops were willing to lay down their lives to hold the bridge (Edelgard's crazy fangirl Ladislava), but eh.
Suddenly, Gilbert. He's still alive? He says he's serving Dimitri, who was hiding in Fraldarius territory. We didn't find this out until Gronder in VW. This time, the Kingdom rebels reach out in order to ally with the Church. I wanted to ally, but Seteth wouldn't let me. :(((( Seteth, let me live!!! Enough already! Anyway, instead, we just let them use our new bridge. Which all has some funny implications, since apparently Claude is too shady to ally with but also how did Dimitri's super mysterious force get to Gronder in VW?
Anyway, I guess that's why we don't go to Gronder. But I'm uuuuh confused about why Claude was even there, per the off-screen recap? He didn't ask to use our bridge, so how did he even get to Gronder? And WHY? The Alliance was still massively divided last we checked with them. Sure, we killed Lorenz, but I can't see that making things any less chaotic. Judith gave her forces to us, and even between the church and the alliance, it was always emphasized in VW how outnumbered we were. Why would Claude even go to Gronder? How did he get there......... And now he's uh missing (sus man).
Seriously, did he send us those troops because he decided he wanted to dump the war on us and secretly peace out? Or??
Anyway, Dimitri fucked up Edelgard but also got killed. Bye, we hardly knew ya. We still have a vision of his... ghost?? OK, sure.
Take your pick which is funnier, this or Hilda just kinda seeing him die off screen somewhere, after we beat his ass.
Location card for the ghost scene is "outer city" iirc.
April is just GONE. It doesn't exist! Like, we just don't even get a calendar for it?? What the actual fuck?!
Felix switches between thinking Dimitri was dead all along and thinking he was "alive all this time." Whatever.
Alois says we disguised ourselves as enemy soldiers to sneak in..... Where?? When did this happen? We didn't sneak onto the bridge, and if this is about the strategy for Merceus, we haven't discussed it yet.
Yeah, this is apparently a plan that we just haven't been shown yet, because Shamir says we gave the order to dress all our troops in Imperial armor. News to me!
Update: We can even ask "Disguises?" when we're already on the Merceus approach. Is Seteth claiming his strategy was an order from Byleth while handling everything behind the scenes? And then gaslights by saying it was your idea (that you forgot about)?
For a knight, we pick up Lavandula grass, an herb with tiny purple flowers. Its calming scent relieves stress. You make tea out of it.
Ashe mentions that Dedue is missing, and his death is not actually confirmed. But from what I've been told, his appearance in Enbarr was also cut from SS.
I just realized there's a huge globe in the library. I wonder if anyone's been able to get a good look at what's drawn on it.
Seteth sure plays up how he totally does not recognize those ballistic missiles.
Come to think of it, how did Jeritza know that the missiles were coming?
Seteth spells out a plan we sure did not have before. I can't believe they have him both railroading you earlier and also playing up how you're totally such a cool and smart strategist...

S Plays 'Golden Wildfire' - Part 1
I tried to play with the Japanese voices and English dialogue, but it looks like changing the language does both? So that's. Irritating lol. I love Claude's JP!VA
We've all caught up with the demo, yes? No? I'll give you the rundown if not
Almyra launched an attack on Leicester back in the Academy days.
Shahid, Claude's brother, led the attack; likely the only reason they didn't succeed was because Nader didn't want to launch an attack on Claude. He wants the crown, and successful application of militaristic force seems to be the way to do it.
Hm. We'll see if that comes up in correlation to the leaks I've seen.
Holst is around; doesn't seem to bear the Crest of Goneril, despite Hilda claiming Freikugel was his birthright in Houses (she says he tried to pawn off his whole inheritance and only settled for giving her the Relic).
This will set the tone for all the infuriating retcons to come <3
Claude implies he's toyed with the idea of consolidating power in the Alliance because a multi-faceted higher power does not suit wartime. (Shez C-support)
Almyra seems to have stayed their hand for now.
Shez was left kicking around and unemployed for two years. Good for the Alliance, indicative of Claude's leadership, bad for Shez.

The Defence of the Great Bridge
Claude's already talking about abandoning the Bridge if it really comes down to it. He's framing it in a way that talks about saving lives, but, uh . . . he manages to do it just fine in Houses? Aside from CF? So . . . hm!
I should say: That's me being nitpicky because I know where this goes, but also . . . Hopes!Claude has another full game of his character to stand as contradiction, so he has to get good.
All right so I have to go save Count DILF--I mean Count Gloucester's ass.

Hello! It's me the anon again! I saw you got some Claude anons recently so I'll run with that theme. Do you think they character assassinated Claude in 3 Hopes? Do you think he was intentionally made to be more of a villain now? Do you think he's more or less likable than he was in VW? I'm interested in your thoughts because I actually hated Golden Wildfire and hated Claude in part 2. I was hopeful in part 1. But wow did Claude become awful after declaring himself king and becoming Edelgard 2.0
I feel like I covered all my thoughts on Claude in the GW video, including that I've never felt that strongly about him one way or another making it harder for me to talk about him in-depth. Finishing the other two routes hasn't done much to change that.
Together they do solidify Claude as an opportunist willing to ally himself with whomever he thinks has the best chance of winning the war, which goes well enough with his neutral yellow/green color affiliation. It's amusing that there are several NPCs derisively dubbed weathervanes - Acheron, Count Rowe, Baron Dominic in the Annette/Gilbert paralogue of Houses - yet across both games Claude is the biggest weathervane of them all.
It's hard to tell if he's less likeable in Hopes necessarily, but I do know that he's getting much more criticism than he did in FE16. This does make sense as the most you could (reasonably) say against him in Three Houses is that he's underexplored and his route an obvious victim of time/budget constraints, whereas here he gets the same amount of attention as the other two and...is still underexplored, with his less palatable traits developed at the expense of others. I'm doing my second run of GW now, to fill out the rest of the event gallery among other things, but I'm struggling to find anything or anyone to really care about in this story. There's not even a Hubert equivalent around to be hammy and evil, and the Golden Deer remain as dryly heterosexual as ever. At least it's easy to skip the story content.
