CONDONING OF SODOMITES
Lev. 18:22 Lev. 20:13
True love will never tolerate and condone homosexuality!!
Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem. Under his reign, the Bible says, "And Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord. . . "(I Kings 14:22a). Among those evils listed was their condoning of Sodomites in the land. This is one of the prevalent sins of America today. In times past the Sodomites were not condoned in America. Not only are there Sodomites in this land, but they are welcomed and harbored. Under the Carter administration, Cuba dumped thousands of their unwanted Sodomites into Florida. Cuba was anxious to get rid of them and the Sodomites were anxious to escape what they called, "Severe repression in Cuba." The light of the churches is so faint and flickering that these creeping things of darkness have come out into the open. Let's now turn the light of God's Word directly upon this epitome of moral degradation, and send the Sodomites scurrying back into their hiding places. "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them." - Leviticus 20:13 1. Can Sodomites Be Saved? 2. How Do the Sodomites Recruit Others to their Lifestyle? 3. Do Sodomites Only Prey on Males? 4. Epilogue "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them." - Leviticus 20:13 1. Can Sodomites Be Saved?
Homosexuality is totally unnatural behavior. According to the Bible, every one of us is born with a sin nature; we have a natural tendency to sin. For example, children do not need to be taught to lie; they are born with a tendency to lie when it is convenient. We are all tempted by sin and must put forth an effort to do right and not to take the path of least resistance. However, a normal man is not even tempted with homosexuality at all. The thought of homosexuality to a normal man is disgusting and repulsive. A process must take place before a person can become so perverted as to desire a relationship with the same gender. This process is outlined in Romans 1. Romans 1:21 1) They knew God (they were exposed to the knowledge of God). 2) They glorified him not as God. 3) Neither were they thankful. 4) They became vain in their imaginations. 5) Their foolish heart was darkened. Romans 1:22 6) Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools. Romans 1:23 7) They changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man. Romans 1:24 8) God gave them up to uncleanness. Romans 1:25 9) They changed the truth of God into a lie. 10) They worshipped and served the creature more than the creator. Romans 1:26 11) God gave them up unto vile affections. 12) Their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature. Romans 1:27 13) The men burned in lust one toward another. 14) Men with men working that which is unseemly. Romans 1:28 15) They did not like to retain God in their knowledge. 16) God gave them over to a reprobate mind to do those things which are not convenient. Next God gives us a roll call of the attributes of the Sodomite (homosexual): "Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them." - Romans 1:29-32 God defines the word "reprobate", used in Romans 1:28 in regard to homosexuals, the first time it is ever mentioned in the Bible. The first reference to the word "reprobate" in the Bible is Jeremiah 6:30, "Reprobate silver shall men call them because the LORD hath rejected them." God has already rejected the sodomites. He gave them over to become the filthy animals they are. Although God initially loved them ( God so loved the world ) and wanted them to be saved and died on the cross for them, they refused to be saved or even acknowledge God, and God finally gave them up.
Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. - Jude 7 The word "queer" is a very Biblical description of the homosexual since here God refers to them as "strange." God did not send a preacher or soul-winner to Sodom, he sent two angels to examine the situation and to remove Lot from the city. His only solution to the problem of homosexuality was to pour out literal Hellfire and destroy the city as an example of what he thinks about sodomy. 2. How Do the Sodomites Recruit Others to their Lifestyle Every Sodomite in the Bible is a rapist or molester. The Bible tells three sickening stories about Sodomites and every one of the three stories involves someone being violated against their will. Example #1 And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard: And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without. And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness. And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. - Genesis 9:20-24 The first Sodomite mentioned in the Bible is Ham. Ham took advantage of his own father Noah while he was drunk. He didn't just see his father's nakedness; the Bible says that Noah knew what his younger son had done unto him. The first example of homosexuality in the Bible involves a person being violated against his will. Example #2 "But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them." - Genesis 19:4, 5 The second example of homosexuality in the Bible is found in Genesis 19. The story begins with the men of Sodom attempting to rape the two men God sent to the city. When Lot refuses to surrender the men to the perverts, they attempt to rape him.
"And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door. But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door." - Genesis 19:9, 10 Again God is showing us what the homosexuals are really all about. They desire to pervert others through rape and molestation. Example #3 "Now as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons of Belial, beset the house round about, and beat at the door, and spake to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into thine house, that we may know him." - Judges 19:22 This third example is very similar to the story that took place in Sodom and Gomorrha. The perverts in the city desire to rape the Levite man who is staying at the house of the old man. The old man refuses to surrender the Levite, and they instead surrender the Levite's concubine (a woman). "But the men would not hearken to him: so the man took his concubine, and brought her forth unto them; and they knew her, and abused her all the night until the morning: and when the day began to spring, they let her go." - Judges 19:25 The filthy animals then proceed to rape and abuse the woman until she is dead. This third example confirms that every Sodomite mentioned in the Bible is a rapist. This is why God instituted the death penalty for Sodomites. He knows that they are predators and should be kept away from society and especially children. "And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel." - I Kings 14:24 "And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made." - I Kings 15:12 "And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land." - I Kings 22:46 "And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove." - 2 Kings 23:7 3. Do Sodomites Only Prey on Males? A common misconception is that homosexuals are only attracted to and only prey on men. It is clearly seen in the Bible that homosexuals are perverted in other ways and are always bisexual. Notice the word "also" in Leviticus 20:13:
"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them." - Leviticus 20:13 For example, the first Sodomite mentioned in the Bible, Ham, was married and had children! The second time the Sodomites are mentioned was in Sodom and Gomorrha where every man was a homo according to the Bible. A careful study of the story reveals that there were also women and children in the city, which proves that male-female relationships were also taking place. In the third example, the Sodomites in the story rape a woman. Just because a man is married and has children does not rule out the fact that he is a sodomite pervert. This is one reason why small children should not be left alone with a man that is outside their immediate family. Little girls should also not be left alone with a man outside their immediate family because they are not immune to being victimized by a Sodomite. Molestation can irreparably damage young children, so it is our responsibility to keep our children safe from such danger. It is time that preachers and Baptist people take a stand against the Sodomite freaks and turn off the television that tries to shove their perversion down our throat. God help a generation of Christians that does not think that homosexuality is "that bad." We need a revival of old-fashioned righteous indignation and hatred for sin and perverts.? 4. Epilogue: Why I hate homosexuals? A. Because Homosexuals Hate God The Bible tells us in Romans 1:30 that the homosexuals are "haters of God." Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same but have pleasure in them that do them. In Psalm 139, the Bible teaches us that we should hate those who hate God.
Psa 139:21 Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? Psa 139:22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them, mine enemies. In fact, in 2 Chronicles 19:2, the Bible tells us that if we love those who hate the Lord, God's wrath will be upon us. 2Ch 19:2 And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD. B. Because Homosexuals are Violent Predators Psa 11:5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. Earlier in this essay, it was demonstrated that every homosexual mentioned in the Bible was a violent predator. Author's Note: I have never called for people to rise up and kill homosexuals. I believe that the GOVERNMENT should put them to death as the Bible lays out in Leviticus 20:13. We as Christians should NOT accept homosexuals. Am I going to harm homosexuals? NO. Should they be put to death by the legitimate authorities (i.e. our government). YES, Should Homosexuals be put to Death by the Government? For decades now—and with great success—cultural elites have been pushing the normalization of the abomination of sodomy. We have now gotten to the point where sodomites are being allowed to “marry,” and the normalization of homosexuality—with the related marginalization of Biblical Christianity—continues at a ferocious pace. Bible-believing Baptist churches and other Christian conservatives stand against sodomite “marriage” with one voice—but have we, too, been influenced by the cultural pressure for the normalization of sodomy?
Let me state, first of all, that I am against reconstructionism, against Presbyterian theonomy, against the Roman Church-State and Calvin’s Geneva, against focusing on politics instead of gospel preaching. I am for NT Baptist churches, dispensationalism, freedom of religion, preaching the gospel to every creature as our focus, and so on. I agree that homosexuals can be saved and rejoice if they come to church services and hear the gospel. I am not afraid of homosexuals (that is, I am not “homophobic”) nor do I hate people who are involved in that sin. I recently did a series of evangelistic Bible studies with a homosexual man who had all kinds of filthy pictures posted all over his house on the wall. My fellow Baptists and I were kind to him, showed him, Christian love, invited him to church, and even invited him over to our house for lunch. There were various times when he needed a ride, since he didn’t have a car, and a ride was offered on our part and was accepted on his. Unfortunately, after spending a number of hours with him patiently giving him the gospel and dealing with his objections, while he was, I believe, convicted at various points, he was not willing to repent of his sodomy—at least not as of my writing this post. I have even shed tears over his unconverted condition. He knows we care for him, and for others involved in his sin. Our church has given the gospel to many sodomites (and, naturally, very many people not guilty of that perversion) through house-to-house evangelism and mass evangelism at events where large groups of people are gathered together, whether a State fair with large numbers of normal unconverted people or a “Pridefest” with large numbers of sodomites. We have sought to speak kindly and respectfully to people at all such venues and give soft answers that turn away wrath when ridiculed, cursed at, threatened and so on. While bold proclamation of the gospel will often bring opposition, we have not sought to whip up unnecessary opposition as some, unfortunately, do at such events. I even grew up in San Francisco and have friends from my youth as an unconverted person who are homosexuals, and we seek to be kind to them and show them Christian love and give them the gospel. We have sent them cards on special occasions, given them gifts, and so on. The writer of this post is not some crazy person filled with a deep hatred for homosexuals—indeed, if you who read this post don’t like what the following paragraphs say, before you say that I hate homosexuals, you ought to consider how much time you spend giving them the gospel—if you don’t give them the gospel, perhaps I am the one that loves them, and you are the one that hates them. If you are afraid to talk to them because of their gross sin, but I speak to them politely and treat them like human beings created in God’s image, like people who have eternal souls that need to be saved just as my own sinful soul was saved, perhaps you are the one that hates them while I love them. With all of the above stated as an introduction, there is no reason why God’s laws in Israel about the State putting sodomites to death (or adulterers, for that matter, Lev 20:10) would be bad laws today. God’s laws are good laws—very good, glorious, and wonderful laws—the best possible laws. What does Scripture say is the responsibility of the State toward those who engage in homosexuality? “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.” (Leviticus 20:13)
I am happy if thieves attend church to hear the Bible, although the State should punish theft. I am happy to preach the gospel to murderers, whether in a prison ministry or elsewhere, but I still agree with Scripture that murderers should be executed by the State. Similarly, we should show love as individuals, and be part of a church that shows love to sodomites, while recognizing that, ideally, the State should enforce a death penalty for sodomy. We should want a godly government that takes away the sodomites out of the land, as the godly government did of old (1 Kings 15:12; 22:46). The Passover and other ceremonial laws are types of Christ which have been abolished, but the death penalty for sodomy that God gave Israel is not a type of anything and has not been abolished—it is valid for today. How could we know what laws would be good for the State to enact if we can’t listen to the Bible? Can we not learn anything about what a godly government is like from the laws God gave the Hebrew republic? Furthermore, before the Mosaic law, Scripture states that that among the pre-law Gentiles such as Job, adultery was “a heinous crime; yea, it is an iniquity to be punished by the judges” (Job 31:11)? If adultery is righteously punished by a Gentile State, is not the greater sin of sodomy also? Scripture does not teach that the criminalization of sexual iniquities such as sodomy and adultery are things that the State should just ignore. They should be illegal, and they should be punished the way God punished them in the Bible. Since both Jews and Gentiles in Scripture recognized that sexual perversions were Biblically described as criminal and/or worthy of death, it would be good law, were Biblical values practiced (as they are not likely to be in the USA again before the Rapture, unless there is a great national revival), to have a death penalty for sodomy. A death penalty for sodomy would result in far fewer dear people deciding they were “born that way,” hardening themselves to the gospel, and dying young of AIDS—many lives would be saved. What is more, God be glorified as more of His Word was put in practice. Sodomites would also refrain from being proud, but be fearful instead because of their sin, and be more willing to hear and receive the gospel of the grace of God. A death penalty for sodomy would be a good law. To reiterate, I am not at all arguing for people being vigilantes or taking the law into their own hands. The individual Christian’s duty is to love and do good to all men, including sodomites. I am arguing that the State should re-criminalize sodomy and enforce a death penalty for those that commit it and are found guilty after due process of law. I would also like to point out that if what I have said seems “extreme” or “wrong” or “un-Christian” to you—but you cannot refute it from Scripture—that you have been influenced by our culture’s incessant drumbeat for the normalization of sodomy. It was only in 2003—merely ten years ago—that our activist Supreme Court in Lawrence v. Texas struck down American laws declaring sodomy illegal, reversing its own 1986 ruling in Bowers v. Hardwick that upheld the constitutionality of American anti-sodomy laws. Our culture has slid towards Sodom very quickly in these last ten years, and Christians have been caught up in it. You are one of them, if you can’t refute this post Biblically, but are not willing to agree with it.
If you think that what I have said is true, but it ought not to be preached because people won’t like it, you also have been influenced by our evil culture. While our country descends ever further into the pit, let the Lord’s true churches pass down all the truth and reject all unbiblical cultural influences. It might cost you something. It is still okay to believe that marriage is between one man and one woman, but if you agree with this post, and people at work find out, you might lose your job. Nevertheless, Bible-believing churches need to recognize and unashamedly preach and teach all the truths in the Bible, both those that pertain to the individual’s responsibility to do good and act kindly towards sodomites, and those that pertain to the State’s responsibility to execute those found guilty, after due process of law, of this unspeakable perversion. A lawyer in California has submitted a ballot initiative with the state Department of Justice calling for the death of anyone who engages in sodomy in the state, the San Diego Gay & Lesbian News reports. The proposal by Matt McLaughlin, who lists his address in Huntington Beach, was received by the initiative coordinator at the Office of the Attorney General on Feb. 26. Enclosed was a $200 check and the complete text of his "Sodomite Suppression Act."The Act outlines seven measures relating to those who engage in same-sex sodomy, "a monstrous evil that Almighty God, the giver of freedom and liberty, commands us to suppress on pain of our utter destruction even as he overthrew Sodom and Gomorrha." McLaughlin recommends punishment by death, even though a judge ruled that California's death penalty is unconstitutional last June: Seeing that it is better that offenders should die rather than that all of us should be killed by God's just wrath against us for the folly of tolerating-wickedness in our midst, the People of California wisely command, in the fear of God, that any person who willingly touches another person of the same gender for purposes of sexual gratification be put to death by bullets to the head or by any other convenient method. The document goes on to push a ban on the distribution of "sodomistic propaganda" (we can only assume he was inspired by Russia, as some note) and on "sodomites" from serving in public office. He also wants the act to be "prominently" displayed in public school classrooms.
What the Bible Really Says about Homosexuality
Bill Fortenberry
Picture
The December 15, 2008 edition of Newsweek magazine featured a cover story by Lisa Miller entitled “Our Mutual Joy.” In that article, Ms. Miller claims to discredit religious objections to gay marriage by demonstrating that the few biblical passages dealing with this topic can be simply ignored or thrown away. Ms. Miller is not alone in her beliefs. Our new president and many Christians also think that a loving God would approve of homosexuality, but they are very much mistaken. The Bible contains no less than fifteen direct references to homosexuality, and every single one of them is negative. Genesis 19:5 The events referenced in Genesis 19 took place within the city of Sodom which was destroyed by God because of its wickedness. Homosexuality is the only sin mentioned in these verses, and it is referred to as being wicked. God destroyed Sodom and all the cities around her because of her wickedness. Leviticus 18:22 Leviticus 18 presents a list of several sexual sins. Homosexuality is included in this list and is called an abomination and a defilement of the land. God promised that homosexuals would be “cut off from among their people.” This promise is not limited to the Children of Israel. Leviticus 20:13 Leviticus 20 lists several of the sexual laws that God set up for the nation of Israel. Homosexuality is listed as a criminal offense punishable by death. As a criminal offence, the sentencing for homosexuality was subject to the ruling of the courts as established in Deuteronomy 17. If one was found guilty of homosexuality, the law called for the death penalty. This law did not give citizens the right to kill homosexuals at will.
The two passages in Leviticus are undoubtedly two of the most direct condemnations of homosexual behavior to be found in the Bible, and Ms. Miller was quick to present her belief that these are “throwaway lines” from a “peculiar book” and that her “modern understanding of the world has surpassed its prescriptions.” What she has neglected to mention is that these same “throwaway” passages also condemn adultery, bestiality, incest, and child sacrifice. I do not know if Ms. Miller has a family of her own, but I would imagine that if she did she would strongly disapprove of their involvement in any of these behaviors. Nevertheless, Ms. Miller’s opinion on the application of these verses to today’s society really doesn’t prove her case at all. The simple fact still remains that, in spite of her desires to the contrary, the Bible does indeed condemn homosexuality as sin. Deuteronomy 23:17-18 Deuteronomy 23 presents commandments against prostitution. The word “sodomite” is a reference to homosexual men. That it is not just a reference to whoremongers can be seen by comparing the Hebrew word “qadesh” (sodomite) with the word “q@deshah” (whore). The two words are simply the masculine and feminine versions of the same root. The relevance to homosexuality is further solidified by the reference to these sodomites as dogs in the very next verse. These verses clearly state that homosexual prostitution is an abomination to the Lord. Judges 19:22 Judges 19 presents another account of homosexual behavior similar to that found in Genesis 19. The homosexual desires of these men were called wicked, foolish, and vile. In this incident, homosexuality was considered more abominable than rape. This does not justify rape (both sins were punishable by death); it simply demonstrates the intensity of the Bible’s condemnation of the homosexual lifestyle. I Kings 14:24 I Kings 14 chronicles the wickedness of the nation of Judah during the reign of Rehoboam. In describing their wickedness, the Bible states that there were sodomites in the land and that the people committed all the abominations of the nations that had previously inhabited the land. The word “sodomites” is the same Hebrew word “qadesh” used in Deuteronomy 23. I Kings 15:11-12 I Kings 15 describes the major events of King Asa’s reign over Judah. He is praised for removing homosexuals from the nation, and his actions are said to be right in the eyes of the Lord. II Kings 23:7 II Kings 23 lists several of the acts of Josiah during his reign over Judah. He also is praised for removing homosexuals from the land. He is stated to have turned to the Lord more than any other king before or since. Ezekiel 16:49-50
Ezekiel 16 presents an account of the sins of Jerusalem. The sin of Sodom is referenced in comparison. In this passage, God explains that He destroyed Sodom because “they were haughty, and they committed abomination.” God also states that the destruction of Sodom for this abomination was a good thing. The only recorded abomination of Sodom was that of homosexuality. Hosea 9:9 and 10:9 Hosea 9 also depicts the sins of the nation of Israel. In describing their sinful condition, God makes reference to the men of Gibeah mentioned in Judges 19. God states that those homosexual men were deeply corrupted. It is here explained that since Israel has also become deeply corrupted, they will have to pay for their sins. Chapter 10 makes an additional reference to the men of Gibeah. Romans 1:26-27 The passage in Romans chapter 1 which Ms. Miller was so quick to dismiss as “not dealing with anything like gay love or gay marriage” is, in fact, dealing directly with the topic of “gay love,” (Paul refers to it as “vile affections”). That this is not simply a reference to the Roman emperors is evidenced by the statement in verse 18 that Paul is referring to all the ungodliness and unrighteousness of men. It’s also rather obvious that the condemnation of lesbianism found in verse 26 could not be a reference to the actions of Rome’s male emperors. These verses clearly state that those who knowingly reject God are given up to uncleanness, dishonor, vile affections, and a reprobate mind. These vile affections are described as homosexual acts between women or men. This passage further states that those who do such things are worthy of death. I Corinthians 6:9 I Corinthians 6 provides a list of those people who will not be allowed in heaven. The phrase “abusers of themselves with mankind” is a reference to homosexuals. The good news is that homosexuals can be forgiven of their sin through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. I Timothy 1:9-10 I Timothy 1 presents a list of those who are not considered righteous. The list includes those that defile themselves with mankind. This is a reference to homosexuality, and it is stated to be unrighteous and contrary to sound doctrine. This passage also gives hope for homosexuals by stating that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners,” and that all those who believe in Him will receive mercy and eternal life. II Peter 2:6
II Peter 2 reiterates previous statements that Sodom was destroyed because of her wickedness. The citizens of that city are said to have been ungodly with filthy conversations and unlawful deeds. The destruction of Sodom is said to have been a warning to all those who follow in her footsteps. Jude 7 Jude repeats the statements made in II Peter that Sodom was destroyed as an example to others. In this passage, the Bible clearly states that Sodom was destroyed because of its sexual sins. The phrase “going after strange flesh” is a reference to their homosexual behavior recorded in Genesis 19. Conclusion The Bible has much more to say on the subject of homosexuality than Ms. Miller implied. Contrary to the premise of her article, everything that the Bible says about homosexuality is negative. It condemns such behavior as wickedness, an abomination, a defilement, a criminal offense, foolish, vile, deeply corrupted, unclean, dishonorable, a vile affection, the result of a reprobate mind, an action worthy of death, unrighteous, contrary to sound doctrine, and ungodly. Those nations in the Bible which accepted homosexual behavior were judged by God and destroyed, and those who rejected homosexual behavior are praised. The Bible also established civil laws which made homosexuality a capital offense in Israel. However, along with this condemnation, the Bible also presents very clear instructions prohibiting personal retaliation against homosexuals. The Bible established a judicial system for the nation of Israel which was to try all cases, including those against homosexuals, according to a very strict set of guidelines; and harsh punishments were prescribed for any citizen that decided to take the law into his own hands. The Bible also calls for an attitude of mercy and forgiveness toward homosexuals stating that Jesus Christ loved them enough to die for them and that many Christians had been just as wicked before they accepted Christ's forgiveness. Therefore, the Christian view of homosexuality should be that while homosexual behavior is great wickedness and a danger to our nation, those who participate in such behaviors are still people that God loves and longs to show mercy toward. The Bible justifies Christian efforts to suppress homosexual behavior through politics, but it also demands an attitude of love and mercy toward homosexuals themselves. (Leviticus 20:13, 15 - 16) (Leviticus 18:22-23)
Why God Commanded Nations To Be Destroyed!
Israel was told to destroy certain nations that dwelt in the land of Canaan. This is found a number of times in Deuteronomy and Joshua. It is clear that Israel not only was told to do this, but God also said that He would help them do it. Some liberal humanistic theologians of the 20th Century do not believe that God said for Israel to do this. They do not deny that it is found in the Bible, but they deny that God said it. They prefer to believe that the writers simply made it up to cover their cruelties to the inhabitants of the land. The Bible believer must take an entirely different approach. Let the Bible speak. In Deuteronomy 7:1, seven nations are named and in 7:2, Israel is commanded: "And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor show mercy unto them." "And the LORD thy God will put out those nations before thee... LORD thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them..." Deuteronomy 7:22,23. A careful study will reveal WHY God ordered whole nations to be destroyed by the Israelites. God warned Israel concerning a long list of sins, including incest, adultery, having sex with animals and homosexuality. "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind...Neither shalt thou lie with any beast...Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you...the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants." Leviticus 18:22-25. Man is forbidden to "lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman," and "ye shall not walk in the manners of the nation, which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them." Leviticus 20:13,23. Judah was condemned during the time of Rehoboam, because "there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel." 1st Kings 14:24. Once again we are shown one of the principal reasons why God ordered the wholesale destruction of certain nations. God knew what he was doing, and He violated none of His attributes or laws in destroying them. His love, holiness, and righteousness are vindicated by His judgments.
True love will never tolerate and condone homosexuality!!
